This volume brought to an end the arc of the Uranischegar invasion, but I found it curiously disappointing. For all the fighting that went before and sacrifices by his followers to summon it, the mad god ended up being easily killed by reinforcements arriving at the last minute. The traitor’s motivations turned out to be quite simple and a waste of his character in my opinion: they had just gone crazy and been consumed by the spell. A bunch of minor characters I did not care that much about died. Nanao managed to use her spellblade a second time at last, and we learned what was inside the labyrinth all those powerful mages were obviously guarding, but it mainly feels like a return to the status quo. And with the protagonist’s remaining targets having now just slain a god, I wonder how he can possibly pull off more assassinations without the solution being a total asspull.
