this was a very jam packed volume. i already read the manhua years ago & obviously consumed every other adaptation so i knew what was coming but i forgot how adorable the artist draws wangxian. their little touches, lan wangji’s red ears, the bunnies!!! i love love love it and i love them so much too
i’m very excited for the next volume though…drunk!lwj is one of my favorite lwj to exist 🤭
Once again I am not disappointed by the storyline and graphics of this series. I like how the comic is a little different than the live action show. The show does a lot of visuals in the past and the comic is more of just flashbacks and dealing with the present.
I'm still looking forward to seeing how the rest of this series comes together in the next couple of comics.
Wei Wuxian is still the goofy character that is serious but you also can't take to seriously because he's just a goofball. I love that he picks on Lan Wangji constantly but is also always there to help with protecting the people.
The fact that Lan Wangji raises bunnies still cracks me up because he's so stern and doesn't show emotions so you wouldn't think he's the nurturing type.
Look, Wei Wuxian's fear of dogs really isn't funny if you think about it for more than two seconds, BUT it did give this artist an excuse to show just how easy for him to tuck his body up into Lan Wangji's post-resurrection.
Also, shoutout to LWJ's quiet bitchiness in this installment. I mean, it's always there, but way he just ignores WWX the moment he realizes he's lying about not being injured is truly iconic and hilarious. He WILL bully you into taking care of yourself or barring that, into stunning you so much you forget to protest and let him do it for you. And then he will kick down a door as you yell at him to put you down. And he will not care.
Next installment is Drunk!ji and Yi City so I am ready to switch quickly from laughter to tears! :))))
Wei Wuxian looking up into a room Lan Wangji is sitting in. The little smile on WWX’s face when LWJ looks back. And then the way he climbed up to say it’s been days and did you miss me 😆 And the cute little bunnies he delivers. Gahhh these two. I can never get enough of them. The art is magnificent. I love how beautiful they are.
I also love how they included the breakdown of the Lan Clan beginnings. The Cultivation Partner and the Return to Nothingness are so beautiful. That practice of living your life with your partner, and if they go then so do you. By your own choice.
”Should you leave, I too shall leave, this life shall not remain in this world.”
I can’t remember now if volumes one and two had first person POVs, but I’m just now noticing. I really like that there’s text boxes where it’s Wei Wuxian telling us his story. Makes it even more personal.
I also really love that it ended on ”My surname is…” Hehehehe I hope we get to see a great drawing in the next volume of Lan Wangji tripping over himself 🤭 I already know I’m gonna love the heck out of it anyway because we get to see drunken LWJ and nothing is better than that.
It's kinda crazy how every adaptation of this series can incite different kinds of emotions. While I am not following any specific order to watch/read these, it's still an experience. I have watched the live adaptation (The Untamed) and now I am reading the manhua.
I love the artwork. It's so cute and fun but the dialogues are a little bland.
Ok WWX telling LWJ that he can’t possibly carry him on his back only for LWJ to swoop him up and carry him bridal style is something I’ll never get over thank you very much.
I thoroughly enjoyed this volume of Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation! It was fantastic to see more of the main character collaborating with others, and I especially loved the moments where Jin Ling was kind to him for a change. Their development added a wonderful dynamic to the story. However, I did find that the pace was a bit slow at times, which led me to procrastinate finishing it. Overall, it was a great read, and I can't wait to read the next volume!
