The Unsold Games takes place in a toy shop in India. 2 strangers meet one night unsure of what each other’s motives might be.

I found the premise of this interesting. It is a novella so it is a quick read. For me the beginning was interesting as we learned the back story of each man. The middle dragged for me and I did not find the conversations moved the story along. However, I do think some of this may be a cultural stylistic difference.

The ending was interesting.

I’m not sure I’d truly label this a thriller since there was really no mystery involved but rather an unfolding of grief and revenge.

"The Unsold Games" by Aman Gupta is a psychological thriller that delves into the dark side of childhood wonder and the hidden dangers lurking within a seemingly innocent toy and game shop. This haunting and deeply emotional thriller centres around a toy and game shop that possesses the power to change lives forever. It’s an absolute page-turner that is both emotionally devastating and chilling. I finished it in a couple of hours and found it to be the kind of thriller that requires some processing after reading. There are layers and hidden meanings, and I believe there are even deeper messages beneath the surface that I may not have fully grasped. The emotional weight hit just as hard as the suspense.

In many ways, the story is sad and, at times, cruel, but it highlights the extreme measures we take when we feel desperate. The atmosphere is chilling, emphasising that this story is about more than just a toy shop; it tackles themes of betrayal, grief, and the fragility of trust. This isn't a surface-level mystery. Each character feels deeply human, with flaws, fears, and motives that kept me guessing throughout the narrative.

The toy shop serves merely as the setting, while the real drama unfolds in the fragile minds of Ravi and Karan—two lives altered by a single act of misplaced kindness. It’s in the toy store where Karan and Ravi meet, but they become trapped in the store, and that's where the story unfolds and the games are played. Ravi and Karan are two strangers who will share a profound experience forever.

The book is short — just about 100 pages — but incredibly gripping. I originally planned to only take a quick peek and add it to my TBR, but it pulled me in at such a stunning pace that I couldn’t put it down until I finished.

What captivated me the most was the author’s writing style. I don’t think I’ve ever read anything quite like it — it felt almost like drifting across a calm sea 🌊. There’s this quiet, almost serene flow to the prose, yet at the same time, the story itself — essentially a dialogue between two men — is tense, chilling, and creates an unsettling atmosphere that doesn’t let you breathe easily. Through their unexpected encounter, their true motives are slowly revealed — tied together by grief, heartbreak, and a desperate search for answers.

The ending was unexpected, twisted, and absolutely surprising. I truly enjoyed this work and can’t wait to read more books by this author!

'The Unsold Games' by Aman Gupta is a short book filled with suspense and thrill. Not just suspense, the book made me deeply emotional too. The book was fast paced and I wanted to know what happened next after every chapter. The story revolves around Karan and Ravi, who lost their dear ones, involving the same toy store. According to me, the name of the book perfectly suits the story- unsold games- broken dreams and unresolved mystery.

With every turn of page, I kept guessing, but another mystery popped up in the next chapter. The any was quite satisfactory- much more than what I was actually expecting. The writing is beginner friendly and hence a good choice of book because generally thrillers are unputdownable. This was an easy read, hence I'd like to recommend this book to you.

The Unsold Games by Aman Gupta is a short book but it leaves a strong impact. From the first chapter, it pulls you in with suspense, but what stays with you is the silence and emotions behind the story. Ravi and Karan are two characters you can’t forget, and their lives show how one act of kindness can change everything. The twist at the end isn’t loud, it’s subtle and haunting, and that’s what makes it so powerful.

I liked how the story kept me guessing. Just when I thought I figured it out, the author surprised me again. It’s not only a thriller but also a book that makes you think about choices, consequences, and what “winning” really means. Simple to read yet layered, this is the kind of book you can finish quickly but keep thinking about long after. Definitely worth reading.

Although I found the book had a few issues towards the ending with the dialogues, I've rated the book a 5⭐, that's because, the book was one of the best thrillers I've ever read. It genuinely touched my heart. The mind-games, the trauma, the revenge and the anticipation the book gave me as I flipped the pages, was amazing. I'd really, really love to explore more books by the author!

The Unsold Games by Aman Gupta is a haunting and deeply emotional story built around a toy and game shop that holds the power to change lives forever. What should have been a place of joy becomes the backdrop of two tragedies — each leaving behind heartbreak, betrayal, and unanswered questions.

The novel follows two victims of fate, both scarred by the same place, as their paths unexpectedly intertwine. United by grief and vengeance, their journeys collide in a way that is both chilling and thought-provoking. The author carefully builds the atmosphere with a slow pace, allowing the emotions and suspense to settle deep with the reader. Each chapter unravels layers of innocence lost, trust broken, and the silent weight of tragedy.

What I loved most was how the story kept me hooked until the very last page. Though subtle in its unfolding, it grips you with the anticipation of what comes next.

The Unsold Games is not just a thriller — it’s a cinematic exploration of grief, revenge, and the cost of innocence.

✨A dark and compelling read. Highly recommended for thriller seekers and short reads lovers.

A Clever, Unputdownable Thriller!

The Unsold Games by Aman Gupta is the perfect blend of suspense, mystery, and clever twists. From the very first chapter, the story had me hooked, and the unpredictability kept me turning pages late into the night. I actually took 1.5 days to finish it , not because it was slow, but because I kept pausing to process the clues and make my own guesses. If you start in the morning, you could easily finish it in a single sitting.
The two main characters, Ravi & Karan, are written brilliantly. In most games, there’s a winner and a loser...but here, there’s no loser. They both manage to “win” in their own way, even while using each other to complete the game. The whole time I was reading, I kept asking myself what exactly is the game? and it’s only at the very end that everything fell into place.
What I loved most was how unpredictable the plot was. Just when I thought I’d figured it out, the story surprised me again. The ending was clever, satisfying, and left me eager for the next part.
This is also a book that rewards close reading. There are layers and hidden meanings you might miss if you skip. I even went back to reread certain chapters to fully understand the details (don’t worry, they’re short).
If you enjoy fast-paced, short thrillers that make you think and keep you guessing until the final page, The Unsold Games is a must-read.

Some stories grip you with action. This one grips you with silence—the kind that creeps in after a game ends but the consequences begin.

Aman Gupta’s The Unsold Games isn’t just a thriller—it’s a quiet reckoning. The toy shop is merely the setting and the real drama unfolds in the fragile minds of Ravi and Karan, two lives altered by a single act of misplaced kindness. The suspense is sharp but it’s the emotional undercurrent that lingers. You don’t just read this book, you go through its aftertaste.

The narrative plays with perception. You think you know who’s right, who’s wrong but the author doesn’t offer easy answers. Instead he hands you a puzzle with missing pieces and asks you to sit with the discomfort.

The twist isn’t just clever—it’s haunting. It doesn’t scream instead it whispers and when it arrives, it doesn’t feel like a surprise it evokes a different feeling

A short read, yes.But not a light one. Every chapter carries weight thoroughout the end.

If you’re drawn to thrillers that don’t just entertain but unsettle, Then Unsold Games is worth your time. ❤️

This is an absolute short thriller. The suspense built up is so good. It's an eerie thriller in a unsettling way. But some lines are repetitive, other than that everything is perfect.

Expect the unexpected. We might think we guessed it from the beginning but we're wrong. The twist in the ending is simply superb.

This is story of 2 person's life which wasn't the same after visiting the toy and game shop.

What happens when a small gesture of the toy shop owner has brought in a disaster and the innocence of a little one is shattered in a very young age. This is reality happening around. This book doesn't show us the solutions of coping up but gives us a kind of satisfaction that justice is rightly served.

So what are you waiting for. Pick this book if you love suspense thriller or in crave for a short read.

This is perfect match for you.

The Unsold Game by Aman Gupta is not simply a thriller it's a puzzling and bewildering ride to boiling darkness. Author Aman is a clever bit of foreshadowing the roller shutter impressions and when it SLAMS down in Chapter 5,you will freeze and find yourself half dead.
Let me tell you what uninvited vibes I had to carry while experiencing something as delicate and wild as "The Unsold Games".
Ravi and Karan's meeting is awkward enough but a kid just walks in.Total distraction, and then... gone. This just goes to show you how scripted this whole thing is. This is the game that they are playing "What are you in for? but the questions are more sinister than board games.
And it comes with the whole backstories and what not, then everything makes sense. It cuts the hardest when Ravi reacts with quiet, calcified rage at being told Mohit was unworthy of a toy. What is a litt short of an injustice, but one which had a major impact. And Karan? That account of Vivek breaking a rule is simply gut-wrenching.That makes his calm confidence all the more scary. They are not consumers, they belong to two opposite ends of a cruel coin.
The author uses small details brilliantly, like the flickering candle and the hunt for water to extend suspense. Now it is no longer about us being thrown out of the store but actually what can be done and by whom. "He wasn't part of the game. He was in th game." Yes! I don't know who the predator is and I certainly cannot tell who's being hunted but all i can say am glued to my imagination encouraged by the narrator knowing fully well whatever happens, it will be bad. So I want the next chapter yesterday.
But the gut-punchers are actually those DAMN FLASHBACKS.That both men are there on account of a tragedy associated with the same shopkeeper, Ajay — leaves me in awe at this masterful plotting. Ravi's co, calm anger at his son Mohit being refused a game and Karan’s more somber, unspoken distress over the trauma suffered by (by Sinha cousin) Vivek is an amazing emotional base to lay down. Neither man is doing evil;they are just two heads of a terrible double-headed beast called justice.

It began in a toy shop, innocent, colorful, and ordinary. But by the end, nothing about this book felt ordinary anymore. The author takes something as simple as a toy shop and transforms it into a stage where guilt, kindness, and tragedy quietly collide. What starts as a straightforward story soon becomes a haunting psychological game that lingers in your thoughts long after you’re done reading.

Ravi and Karan, the two central characters, are written with such depth that you feel their every hesitation, fear, and unspoken emotion. Their conversations play like a silent duel, each word carefully chosen, each pause loaded with meaning. It’s not just a story of suspense; it’s about the fragile line between good intentions and irreversible consequences.

What impressed me most was the unpredictability. Just when I thought I had pieced everything together, the author turned the entire narrative on its head. The twist wasn’t loud or dramatic; it was quiet, chilling, and deeply emotional. The author’s writing style is crisp yet poetic, painting emotions through silence more than action.

Despite being a short read, every chapter carries weight. There’s no filler, just pure, distilled storytelling. The toy shop becomes a metaphor for unsold dreams, unfinished stories, and the haunting aftermath of choices we can’t undo.

This book isn’t merely a thriller; it’s an experience. A beautifully layered story that grips your mind, tugs at your heart, and leaves you with a silence you can’t quite shake off.

Aman Gupta’s The Unsold Games is a short but haunting read that lingers with you long after you’ve turned the last page. At just over a hundred pages, it feels deceptively slim, but the weight of its themes—childhood trauma, guilt, silence, and the long shadow of buried truths—makes it anything but light.
What struck me most was the tone and atmosphere. The book has this quiet eeriness, a sense of suppressed dread that doesn’t rely on jump scares or cheap thrills. Instead, it works on a slower, more psychological level—like an itch at the back of your mind that won’t go away.
The biggest strength here is how universal the story feels, despite its unique framing. Most of us carry some version of unsold games within us—the toys we never got, the words never spoken, the memories that feel both trivial and life-defining. The toy store metaphor becomes more than just a setting; it’s a symbol of lost innocence and unmet needs.
That said, I did wish for a bit more expansion in certain areas—the brevity works for impact, but a few scenes could have lingered longer to deepen the tension. Still, as a debut psychological thriller, it’s a bold and thought-provoking attempt. If you’re in the mood for something dark, unsettling, and quick but memorable, The Unsold Games is worth picking up.

The setting for a chilling story of innocence lost and fury unleashed is a toy store with loud shelves and colorful boxes. The Unsold Games is a brief but impactful thriller by Aman Gupta that captivates with peaceful, eerie silence rather than noisy action.

After visiting a store that sells toys and video games, Ravi and Karan's lives are permanently changed in the story. What starts out as a happy environment soon turns into the onset of sadness. The shop owner's misguided act of charity turns into a catastrophe that destroys trust and innocence. Instead of offering simple solutions, the story invites readers to sit with discomfort while presenting them with a puzzle that has missing pieces. Long after the last page, the ending's twist lingers, whispering rather than screaming, but it is profoundly eerie.

I think Ravi is my favorite character. You remember his naivete and fragility, which makes his journey both tragic and remarkable. His eyes allow the reader to experience the story's unadulterated emotional impact.

For anyone seeking a brief, unsettling thriller that frightens rather than amuses, I suggest The Unsold Games. The unexpected is to be expected because nothing is what it seems here.

An emotional psychological thriller story revolving around themes like guilt. revenge, love, unanswered questions, secrets. The story revolves around a toy shop that's the focus point of the book, where most of the important events happened related to the characters and the toy shop, along with its owner Ajay, is quite mysterious and weird and holds many secrets.

It's a short book of around 100 pages that can be finished in one sitting, especially because it's a thriller and it's interesting. It was a fast-paced and short book with a good writing style. I liked the mind games played in the book and how both Karan and Ravi were trying to hide their thoughts from each other and trying to gain the upper hand in the game. It was interesting to watch both of them play this game of minds and lies.

The story reveals a haunting fact about humans, that sometimes love and guilt make us do questionable things. The ending was unexpected & totally worth it. While reading, I had a theory, but the ending caught me off guard, it was totally different from what I thought.

Overall, I liked the book, and I'd definitely recommend it to thriller lovers who are fans of an unexpected plot twist.

Wow, THE UNSOLD GAMES by Aman Gupta actually became under my skin. First, I thought- "Okay, the toy shop, a simple setup," but not ... it's more than that. It is not really about toys - it is about mysteries, heartbreaks and incomplete promises that never relax you. The story is small, but the man, it packs a punch. Every chapter has weight, nothing is extra. The suspense continues to build slowly and when you feel that you have torn the mystery, the end comes out from anywhere and flipped everything. Did not completely see that twist! Writing vibe is calm but scary at the same time. Like you are sitting in silence but still uncomfortable inside. The characters are not many, but they feel real, and their pain is shown in such a raw way. I also loved how the entire "unceged games" talk becomes a symbol for broken stories - it just sticks with you. Certainly, some lines felt a little repetitive, but honestly, it doesn't matter because the whole atmosphere is so entertaining. This is not a light "fun read" - it is dark, it is unstable, and it makes you feel. If you prefer thriller who play with your head and guess you to the last page, it is definitely worth taking.

The Unsold Game by Aman Gupta is a psychological thriller that begins with the simplicity of a toy shop and unfolds into a layered story of grief, trauma, and hidden motives.

The book hooked me right from the start — the atmosphere felt unsettling in the best way, and the characters carried an intriguing sense of mystery. The Ajay–Vivek backstory was particularly powerful and tense, adding real emotional depth. The recurring game of “Hide and Hide” worked well as a metaphor, with every character concealing something beneath the surface.

While the middle felt stretched with conversations that sometimes slowed the pace, the ending more than made up for it. Multiple twists landed perfectly, keeping me second-guessing until the final chapters.

Overall, The Unsold Game is a gripping short thriller with a clever concept, emotional weight, and a satisfying payoff. Worth a read if you enjoy psychological tension and stories built on hidden truths.

'The Unsold Games' is not about the playthings that lined the shelves but about people whose lives are played upon. A suspenseful narrative wrapped in an atmosphere of secrecy and intrigue.

Hurt is not always loud. It is silent and brewing sometimes just like in the case of Ravi and Karan who had lost their loved ones and in the process their life too somehow.

Ajay owned a Toys & Games' shop in the suburban South Delhi where rows and rows of board games and toys lined the walls.

But something else also played in that shop or maybe it doesn't...

A night of coincidence, vengeance, betrayal and incomplete game supported by the darkness and stillness of the city brought Karan and Ravi together under one roof. Both hiding the truths and lies of their own.

The story unfolds in a true cinematic way as every scene is presented like a motion picture in front of the readers through skillfully orchestrated words from the author.

A few takeaways I felt:
•Secrets can be as powerful as truths.
• Silence has consequences.
• The "games" we play aren’t always about winning.

The book demanded attention, imagination and excitement of the thrill, psychology and games.

The Unsold Games is one of those rare reads that grips you from its very first line. What begins as a story about a quiet toy shop slowly transforms into a haunting exploration of loss, vengeance, and the fragility of innocence. The eerie calm that lingers through the pages makes the heartbreak feel even more real. I found myself reading with a sense of unease that only great storytelling can evoke.

The author’s writing is darkly poetic — sharp in its imagery, yet restrained in its emotion. Every sentence feels deliberate, pulling you deeper into the silence of that forsaken shop. The mood is cinematic, with visuals so vivid they cling to your mind long after the last page.

This book is not just about grief — it’s about what grief becomes when left alone in the dark. The Unsold Games is unsettling, heartbreaking, and unforgettable — a haunting reflection on how innocence, once broken, can never truly be restored.

I assumed that this would be a quick read...just 100 pages, but wow! it really captured my attention. The story is terrible—but like, the fun, twisted kind of terrible that makes it amazing. The writing is crazy,it's serene, almost serene, like floating on a calm sea. tense, spooky, and vaguely spooky. In essence, it's a conversation between two men, but as it progresses, their hidden agendas, all of which are connected to heartbreak, grief, and a desperate quest for answers...begin to surface. You are kept on edge and pulled along by the ideal pacing. And how does it end? Completely bizarre and surprising. It doesn't even matter that there was some clumsy dialogue near the end. The tension, trauma, mind games, and retaliation were all very powerful. Must read especially on a rainy evening with a cup of hot chai.

The Unsold Games is a short but thrilling book set in an eerie games shop in Delhi. The story follows two characters, Ravi and Karan, who find themselves trapped inside without electricity. While the beginning of the book focused heavily on the setting and initially made me lose interest, the narrative quickly gained momentum.

As the story progressed, it masterfully unraveled the true identities and intentions of both Ravi and Karan, revealing their profound connection to the shop. The climax delivered a jaw-dropping plot twist that was completely unexpected and left me in shock. Despite some moments where the dialogue was confusing and it was hard to tell which character was speaking, the overall experience was a shocking and memorable thriller.

Ravi and Karan , two strangers who meet in a game, both wanting to find one person, Ajay. Unknowingly they both had the same motive but didn't realise it. Their game play was also interesting to watch. It was calculative yet smart, just like them.

I like how the story went from beginning to end. Simple and clear, every detail was been written short and brief which made me love the book more.

It’s my first time reading a book that both shocked and impressed me so much. It gave me a mix of emotions I’ve never experienced before.

The simple conversations that carried deeper meanings, the way the truth unfolded, and their plan for revenge. What surprised me the most was the ending which I really didn't expect nor imagined.

The Quiet Unease of The Unsold Games
Aman Gupta’s The Unsold Games is a short yet deeply atmospheric mystery set in a dreamy toy store in Delhi. When two strangers are trapped inside during a power cut, a simple night turns into a haunting exploration of secrets, guilt, and lost innocence.
the author's writing thrives on silence and subtlety, the tension creeps in quietly, making the story more psychological than sensational. The toy shop becomes a metaphor for the “unsold” emotions we all carry, the memories we never let go of. Though brief, this book leaves a lingering chill, perfect for readers who enjoy slow, thoughtful thrillers that stay in the mind long after the last page.
