This story pulls you in immediately with a one-night stand that quickly spirals into something far more intense. This is a dark, stalker romance, with an underlying sense of danger and tension woven throughout the entire book. Towards the middle of the book, I never expected how deep the unraveling family secrets would be but it added so much intrigue and tension and that I was turning page after page until I finished!
Blair is such a strong, independent FMC that I loved from the beginning. And Gage… I didn’t love him at first, but his character development completely won me over, and by the end I was rooting for him even when Blair was beating him up.
I’ll definitely be reading book two because I NEED to know what happens next!

I’ve been reading Persis Lassiter since she wrote her first book, The Layover That Changed Everything. I love all her books; she has a way of capturing your attention from the first page to the last. While reading, you’ll find yourself feeling connections with the characters. Roped In wasn’t any different, and even though Gage screamed red flags, I couldn’t help but feel drawn to him. I understood why he did what he did, but at the same time, I felt he went a little too far. Even though at first I didn’t understand how Blair could be drawn to Cage, as the story progressed, I saw it. Cage is the type of character you shouldn’t like, but you can’t help but like him. The tension and action in this book made it impossible to put down. Every page had me wondering what’s going to happen next.
I loved Blair. I loved how Blair wouldn’t let anyone know what to do until Cage showed up. There was so much tension between them that I was always on edge, eager to see what was going to happen next. One of my favorites in this book was the descriptions; I could picture Whiskey Creek and The Silver Saloon while I was reading, as if I was watching a movie. Also, the emotions in this book; I felt every single one of them. Roped In was one of the darker books, and I loved everything about it. I read it until I reached the last page and afterwards recommended it to my friends. I’m still thinking about it and cannot wait for the second book.

I did not put this down from the moment I started it. Not once. So captivating from beginning to end!!
So the premise… a badass business owner running her family ranch and a sexy, stalkerish cowboy neighbor who watches her. Has been watching her. But then the question starts creeping in… is someone else watching them too? Or is it just another one of his tricks?? And THAT is where I lost my mind a little bit.
Gage and his whole “I will burn the world to ashes for you” attitude is soooo good. Like I was swooning… but also?? There were moments where I was fully side eyeing him tf out and other moments where I was screaming at Blair to just go easy on the man 😂 Their dynamic is so push and pull and I loved every single second of it.
It’s dark romance but not super dark which was honestly such a nice breath of fresh air. And it’s not spicy either — which I didn’t think I needed until I read this and realised sometimes the tension and the yearning is just SO much better??
The mystery had me in a full panic honestly. Sitting there running through every single possibility in my head… thinking I had it figured out… and then nope. The plot twists got me every time. I loved it.
The writing style, the character development, the romance, the mystery… Persis Lassiter really did that with this one. I found it so captivating and I cannot recommend it enough.

Gage Dalton walks into the ranch like a storm. Intense, dangerous, and impossible to ignore. He is the kind of man you know you should stay away from… but somehow you still lean closer. Every word he speaks carries weight, and there were moments that genuinely gave me chills. 🖥️📷🔥🥃
And then there’s Blair Rivers. Strong, defiant, and unwilling to be broken. I loved how she held her ground and refused to give in easily. Watching her push back against Gage made the tension even sharper. 👠🫦
This was my first dark cowboy romance and it completely consumed me. The angst, the buried truths, the hunger for justice, and the twists that keep unraveling one after another… it was mind boggling in the best way. 🤯
Persis truly knows how to keep you hooked. Even with minimal spice, the slow burn and pining are so intense that you feel every second of it. That prologue pulls you in instantly and does not let go. 🔥
What didn’t fully work for me was the heavy use of technical, almost stalker-like jargon in parts. I found myself rereading sections just to fully grasp what was happening.
But that ending… I am not okay. That teaser was not enough. I need book two immediately because I am spiraling right along with Gage, digging for answers and losing my mind in the process.

This is a well paced cowboy romance with a hint of suspense, strong character development, and just the right amount of emotional tension to keep you hooked the entire way through. I’ve enjoyed Persis Lassiter’s books before, and this one absolutely did not disappoint.
Blair Rivers is a strong, feisty, badass heroine who knows what she wants and what she doesn’t want. She’s independent, guarded, and impossible not to root for. Gage Dalton, on the other hand, is a charming, persistent cowboy who knows exactly what he wants and isn’t afraid to go after it, even when that means dealing with Blair’s walls.
I loved watching their dynamic evolve. The chemistry between them is electric, the slow burn is so satisfying, and the tension? Absolutely top-tier. Every interaction crackles, and the emotional buildup pays off beautifully. I also really enjoyed the small town setting and the added touch of suspense woven into the story it gave the romance more depth and kept things interesting beyond just the relationship.

I went into this as my first read from Persis and it completely took me by surprise. I wasn’t expecting the writing style to feel so similar to one of my favourite dark romance authors, so I was hooked almost immediately.
I also didn’t expect such an action-packed storyline to play such a huge role. I thought I was getting a straightforward cowboy romance (which I always love), but this had a much edgier feel—and surprisingly, no spice at all!
It honestly read like I was watching an action movie set between an adult club and a ranch, which made it such a unique and interesting read. I’m really excited to see where the next installment goes.

I had the chance to read the ARC of Roped In, by Persis Lassiter and I loved it. The beginning was perfect.
The setting at Whiskey Creek Ranch felt vivid and easy to sink into, and the small town atmosphere added a lot of charm without ever feeling overdone. The writing flowed naturally and made it easy to stay invested in both the story and the characters. I liked how the romance developed at a steady pace. With the stalker vibes mixed into it. I loved that he was hooked from the start, but she took her time giving him the time of day.
The characters themselves were great. They had clear personalities and emotional depth, which made their interactions feel meaningful. There were moments that were sweet, a little tense, and even a bit emotional in ways.
This was a four star read for me. There were a few spots where I wanted just a bit more depth or a slightly stronger push in the pacing, especially in parts of the middle. Possibly a little more spice, would have been great for my spicy self. Nothing that took away from my enjoyment, but just enough that it didn’t fully hit that five star level for me.
Overall, this was a really solid start to the series and definitely worth picking up if you enjoy small town romance with heart and strong character dynamics. I cannot wait to read the rest and see what Persis has up her sleeve.

I swear Persis Lassiter just keeps leveling up with every book, but this one? This one straight-up wrecked me in the best possible way.This is my new favorite from her so far. It’s darker, grittier, and dives deep into that romantic suspense vibe I’ve been craving. The tension between Blair and Gage is absolutely insane. The push and pull doesn’t even begin to cover it. Blair is such a fierce, no nonsense FMC who can absolutely handle herself, and then Gage Dalton shows up… tall,dangerously charming, and 100% a walking red flag that I somehow still fell for.I was hooked from the very first page. The mystery, the slow unraveling, the “is he the hero or the villain?” energy had me reading in one sitting because there was no way I was putting it down. Gage’s whole “I’ll burn the world for you” intensity had me swooning and side-eyeing him at the same time honestly? The pure tension and yearning hit so much harder than I expected. The plot twists kept me guessing the whole time, and the character development is top-tier.I need book 2 like yesterday!! Our MMC, Gage is a sexy cowboy that Blair meets at a rodeo who quickly becomes a one-night memory she can’t quite shake, until he shows up in Whiskey Creek. And not just anywhere, right next door!
What starts as tension-filled encounters quickly unravels into something deeper when we realize Gage isn’t exactly who he seems. His intentions are definitely rooted in revenge. But watching that shift into something more, something obsessive, consuming, and impossible to ignore..had me hooked.
This is a TRUE enemies-to-lovers with angst, tension, and just enough action to keep you flipping pages. And while this one leans closed-door, the emotional intensity and chemistry still delivers the steam.

This is a TRUE enemies-to-lovers with angst, tension, and just enough action to keep you flipping pages. And while this one leans closed-door, the emotional intensity and chemistry still delivers the steam.

This was my first book by Persis and I was happily surprised! Blair is a strong woman, a real badass, who can take care of herself. Gage is... complicated and a walking red flag. Do we love him? Do we hate him? He's here for revenge, but he would also burn the world for Blair. I wasn't expecting all the tension in this book, but it hooked me the second I started it! I read it in two days (only because I had family obligations, or I would have finished it in one night!). The chemistry is undeniable and Persis has a way with words that transports you right into Whiskey Creek Ranch.
What to expect in this book? Cocky cowboys, sharp banter, second chances with bite, spice with emotional depth, small-town tension, and a protective (stalker) hero.

i am mad at myself for not being able to finish it one sitting because i could not stop thinking about it or even dreaming about it when i wasnt reading.
i fell in love with blair and gage and now i am craving the next book 😩

As cameras start appearing around her property and Blair begins to feel like she is being watched, she starts to realise the charming cowboy from that night might not be who she thought he was.
What is better than a cowboy with a dark side! A stalking cowboy with a dark side. This had two of my favourite tropes rolled into one. Gage is dark, mysterious, possessive and dangerous. Blair is strong and feisty, but even she cannot resist the bad boy attitude. Even when he proudly shows her all the cameras he has watching her. I loved every second of this.

This is my first read by this author and I'm amazed by this book. I devoured it in one sitting. And I couldn't get enough of it. The characters were incredible. The storyline was utter perfection. From one page to the next I was on edge turning pages. The suspense hits the mark and the danger lurking is palpable. The high-stakes action is perfectly balanced with moments of quiet tension. The slow burn, the attraction, and the chemistry between the characters was beautifully written. It's morally gray in all the best ways. It's a masterfully crafted narrative that delivers an addictive read. I cannot not recommend this more than enough. It's an absolute must read.

Going into this book I expected I would enjoy it given the provided synopsis. This is the 4th book Persis has published and it swings more into the area of dark romance with our main characters being enemies to lovers after what was supposed to be a single night encounter. Let me tell you, Persis took this book and made you want to keep reading. There was a flow where you wanted to know what was going to happen next. I personally would give this book a four out of five star rating and would recommend it to other adult readers. I am greatful that I came across Persis Lassiter as an author and plan to read future books she writes.

April 16, 2026ARC reader: I don’t want to rate this book because I felt it to be confusing for the first 2/3 of the book. I don’t want to say it was bad or good- just a bit confusing. I went back to see if I missed some important parts but something just wasn’t connecting for me. I saw a few other reviews that were similar, I just can’t quite pinpoint what the disconnect was. I liked the idea and thought it was different than other books in this genre. I would read a second book if one was published- maybe would dig a little deeper into the confusing parts of the first book.

The book is fast-paced with some darker themes but you will want to continue to flip pages.

Honestly, I loved the idea behind the story and it may just be a me thing but I was really confused. I liked the book and I liked the characters so I have mixed emotions on my overall opinion of the book. This might need another read through to see if I just missed something that would have made things make more sense. Definitely gonna need to read book 2 to see what happens next.

I loved everything about this book and I’m from Austin. So in my mind I kept thinking I was not in Austin but more the stockyards or Lockhart. But the story had me hooked and wanted more. I was mad when I would get to work and couldn’t finish. Now I need book two to see how this love blossoms.
