Eliana Sanderson has accepted that love—and everything that comes with it—isn’t in the cards for her. Thanks to a centuries-old family curse, every attempt at romance ends in chaos, calamity, or combustion. Literally. Appliance fires, allergic reactions, and awkward exits have all sealed her reputation as Wild Rose Point’s most unlucky-in-love woman.
But when Halloween season rolls into town, Eliana makes a deal with her longtime crush—rugged, no-nonsense cowboy Cooper Langdon. If he helps with the town’s haunted hayrides, she’ll pull some strings with the council to support the brewery he wants to build on his ranch.
It’s a win-win… until Eliana accidentally confesses her she’s cursed, and still very much untouched.
Cooper doesn’t believe in curses, but he does believe in Eliana—and he’s more than willing to prove that some sparks are strong enough to defy fate. But as their chemistry sizzles and the town’s spooky season gets underway, it becomes clear that falling for each other might be the most dangerous thing of all.
A cozy, witchy, small-town romance full of charm, steam, and a touch of Halloween magic.
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Maisey Yates lives in rural Oregon with her three children and her husband, whose chiseled jaw and arresting features continue to make her swoon. She feels the epic trek she takes several times a day from her office to her coffee maker is a true example of her pioneer spirit. In 2009, at the age of twenty-three Maisey sold her first book.
Since then it’s been a whirlwind of sexy alpha males and happily ever afters, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Maisey divides her writing time between dark, passionate category romances set just about everywhere on earth and light sexy contemporary romances set practically in her back yard.
She believes that she clearly has the best job in the world.
This was a charming tale full of great romantic tropes and seasonal feels that made it a very entertaining read.
This was such a Halloween vibe with talks of curses, witches and the holiday symbols. It was very easy to feel in the Halloween spirit in this small town.
I liked the romance. It had the staple of Maisey Yates’s familiar tropes of brother’s best friend and unrequited love, but it had the added twist of the curse that really made it unique and different than other Maisey Yates books. I really appreciated that. Plus it made me root for Eliana and Cooper even more because of that. They turned out to be a really sweet yet passionate couple in the end.

When several of my favorite writers (and most are Harlequin authors) come together to create a unique, spooky, charming, small-town community in the Paranormal Romance series, Wild Rose Point… well, I am going to sit up and take notice! Especially when this town has one very cranky, very annoying, totally mischievious seagull who has shown up in at least the first two stories that I’ve read so far! He’s fast, he’s precise, and he’s a perfect comedy foil with his birdly shenanigans.
Charming the Cowboy by Maisey Yates gets the Wild Rose Point series off to a spooky, delightful start. Eliana has been in love with her brother’s best friend, Cooper, for, well, it seems like forever. But even though there were times when she thought Cooper would cross that firm friend-zone line he’s drawn in the sand, it’s never happened. Stupid bro code! It shouldn’t bother her so much, really, for there is that family curse that the women in her family are destined to never find true love, and mayhem is the result when they try. And she’s seen and experienced the truth of that curse firsthand… so maybe she’s keeping Cooper safe? But that doesn’t stop the longing for a way to break the curse and have Cooper love her as much as she loves him. And maybe putting together a Halloween hayride event for their small town with Cooper might change things… or it might result in bodily harm, only the fates know for certain!
I had so much fun with Charming the Cowboy by Maisey Yates! I loved this magical community that we’ve been introduced to, and one maniacal seagull is only the beginning of the chaos about to be rained down on Wild Rose Point. Eliana and Cooper fit together so well, they counterbalance each other, and really, unrequited love (on both sides) can only go on for so long before something has to give or break. Their story is well-written, emotional, steamy, and full of laughter and charm. If you love your romances filled with a wee bit of magic, a couple you’ll be cheering on for their happy ending, and a magical town with charm, then you’re going to love this one.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
This "book" is really a long short story, and it's just average at best. I kept hearing it was really funny, but nothing was all that entertaining, much less laugh out loud funny.
Because it's only about 125 pages, the author had to cut corners. So the two MCs knew each other, and both had a long standing crush on each other. The twist in the story is that she believes her family is cursed to never truly fall in love. And it's hit her particularly hard, to the point that at age 27, she's still a virgin. The guy is stoic to the point of bluntness, and outside of being "hot", doesn't really bring anything to the story but a cowboy hat.
There were multiple instances where both characters spoke in the same paragraph, which really annoys me and is bad form.
Maybe if the story had more room to breath, it might have been good. But if people really think this story is funny, I'm not sure I'd take future book recommendations from them.
It had the potential to be a cool book. She had some real vibes and a back story that would have made her fun to spend time with. He was perfectly, and not ridiculously, different from her for some real fiction. And then someone had to just dial it in rather than working them into a real story. Really, no one actually is angsty about sex 24/7 and if they are, they need counseling and I would love to read THAT dialogue. The only good thing about this whole book is the utter disappointment will save me hours of reading the rest of the series...My real life thanks you. Absolute NO.
Charming the Cowboy by Maisey Yates Release Date October 25,2025 Book #1 in the Wild Rose Point series. This is a collaboration by many wonderful authors.
Eliana Sanderson believes she is cursed. In the sense that no man can get close to her in the romance area.
Cooper doesn’t believe in curses and he is going to prove to Eliana that there is no such thing as a curse.
This is a cozy Halloween read, with a witchy vibe.
This book has so many mistakes that I couldn't continue reading. The sentence structure makes it a difficult read. Adding to this issue is the necessary effort by the reader to decipher what was actually meant to be written (example: "no" should have been "know", "wanted" should have been "want it" etc) and that's only one third of the way into the book. I love to read but this story was too difficult to finish.
I simply loved this perfect magical romance set in a small town during October - the autumn vibes are high but this story is great any time of the year. I can’t wait to read more in this series.
Or is it just foolishness? Cooper thinks it is foolishness but Eliana believes in magic. Can these two finally admit their love for each other? Yes, they do but only with Edgar’s help. Find out who Edgar is by reading this story!
This is a novella around Halloween. Can a centuries old curse be broken once two lifelong friends fall in love? You'll want to read this book to find out. Funny, charming and spooky all rolled up in a cute story!
What a lovely novella about curses and being bewitched. It took Cooper's courage to finally convince Eliana that what they had was the making of a forever relationship.
A super fun friends-to-lovers story that will make you laugh and remind you that there is magic in the world that can bring happiness if you open your mind to it. I loved the quirky characters and the fun town of Wild Rose Point!
