In Another Lifetime

Rate this book
Alora never expected her life to change with a simple sticky note. A routine day at work turned into something extraordinary when Ben Asher walked into her world—tall, devastatingly handsome, and carrying secrets that could shatter them both.

Ben wasn’t looking for love. After betrayal burned him once, he vowed to lock his heart away forever. Then he met Alora—the woman who calls the light back into his life with her laughter, her warmth, and a loyalty that scares him as much as it saves him.

But love isn’t simple when the past refuses to stay buried. Just as Ben and Alora surrender to the rare connection they can’t ignore, an unexpected threat rises from the shadows—a woman determined to destroy everything they’ve built.

Trust will be tested. Promises will be broken. And a love that feels like destiny will face its ultimate trial.

Can Ben and Alora fight through the storm, or will the flames that brought them together burn them apart?

Weena Bernabel is a Dominican-American contemporary romance author whose stories are rooted in emotional depth, soulful connection, and the kind of slow-burn love that lingers long after the last page. A lifelong storyteller at heart, Weena always dreamed of writing her book—an idea that quietly followed her from high school notebooks to adult life, waiting for its moment to bloom.
It wasn't until she rediscovered her passion for reading and joined the vibrant BookTok community that she finally found the courage to write her debut novel, In Another Lifetime, finally.
With the support of her bookish besties and the unwavering encouragement of her closest friends, Weena poured her heart into crafting a love story that's both tender and powerful.
When she's not writing, Weena can be found with a cup of coffee in one hand, a book in the other, and her beloved dog Luna by her side. She believes in soulmates, second chances, and the kind of love that feels written in the stars.
In Another Lifetime is her first novel-but it certainly won't be her last.

If I had to compare this book to a feeling it would be a rainy fall day with the perfect coffee. It’s a comfort book of romance that provides a sense of familiarity in style. That you know when you know that you’ve truly found your person. Alora and Ben show how quickly and easily it is to mold together as one through such little time because they are truly each others soulmates. Now with love always comes trials so the situation with Annie was definitely a bearer to overcome and would I have liked Alora to get some hits in yes of course but she is a lover girl so I’ll let her be. Overall this book is definitely a new fall staple when needing a soft romance to show how found our hearts are when we truly find our other half 🥹🖤

ARC Review! 💙

“I’ve never wanted something so much and been so terrified it might ruin me”.

In Another Lifetime by @weenahhreads is SUCH a romantic and lovely read. I was rooting for Alora and Ben the whole way through 🫶🏻

One of my favorite parts of this book was the vulnerability of the characters. The author writes love so well - there was so much depth and beauty behind each emotion, each thought. I loved the dual POV and hearing each of their inner monologues.

The book feels like a cozy fall read. I didn’t want to put it down and I keep swooning over the idea of those cute little post it notes…🫶🏻

Thank you to the author for the eARC!

If you enjoy a fast pace contemporary cozy romance than this book is for you. The story follows Ben and Alora. The little sticky notes were absolutely adorable and the way Ben falls for Alora, the way he talks about her is everything! With majority of relationships there are some bumps on the road but love the way Alora stood by Ben. At first i am not going to lie i was a bit skeptical of the story due to i mainly read more darker books however i am glad that i gave it a shot. Sometimes it is good to branch out with different genres. I just wish there was more to Ben's ex story. That is the only reason why i give it a 4 star.

DNF'd at 24%. Honestly, contemporary romance is not really my thing, but I figured I would give it a shot. No substance, zero character development, and they used Twilight's most iconic quote (thats when I had to stop). I dont mind fluff, but professionals in their (im assuming) late 20s claiming to be in love after 2 days? seems toxic to me. if thats your thing, then you'll love this. Just not for me

I really tried my best to finish it but it really wasn't for me. It's contemporary romance and super fast paced. It was really hard for me to keep up with what was happening since there was a lot going on. It was a little repetitive with like the internal monolgues the main characters got going on.

ARC 🤩

This is a soft contemporary romance that has a little bit of fantasy? I don’t know if I’ve read a book that talks about being mates / twin flames that isn’t in the fantasy space! I would put this in a short, sweet fall romance if you want something with some drama that keeps you on the edge of your seat but with all the cutesy of the love building in the story!!

Okay where to start…
Spoiler free version 4 ⭐️s fantastic little whirlwind love story, that truly left me wanting so much more! I would absolutely recommend if you want a little tear shed but HEA.

Now the spoiled version…

⭐️ SPOILERS ⭐️

the beginning of this book prepared me for heart break. And the build up to that moment was just painfully bliss. I love this whirlwind of a romance where they are so in love from the moment they met, it reminds me of my own book worthy love. Ben and Alora are the cutest and sweetest couple who have clearly been through it in their lives both been very hurt and the way it haunts them and they choose to power on!? Absolutely stunning I love it. The way it comes back for Ben and they face it head on together. Stunning, but here is my “hang up” I see what you were doing there and you left me hooked I want more details on their hurt and more details on why Annie 🤢 comes back and does what she did. How her relationship that got her the “in” at PB how did that happen what’s going on there?? I would love more on Ben’s dad and how he is doing I was worried about him the whole book and now I’m assuming he is good but like how, what was going on??? You had me in tears and fearful then happy tears keep doing what your doing you left me wanting more on this couple and their lives!!! Thank you for being their sweet story to my kindle!🥹

I am incredibly honored to have received an ARC of this book to read. It was my first ever ARC and I am beyond grateful.

4.5 Stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and cannot wait to hopefully read more about their story in the next book.

It was an e-ARC.

I took a while to review the book after reading it because I am in a busy season of life, and because I was struggling a little. Let me start by saying that this will be an honest review and my true opinions. While I loved this book, I was feeling guilty that it was not a 5 star for me, and Weena the author has been incredibly kind.

I am a romance girly through and through. I am also a slow reader and a mom hence how long it took me to read the book, nothing to do with the book.

I loved Alora and Ben. Alora's name is beautiful. I loved how fast paced it was. I did enjoy their meet cute. I also loved that it was dual POV because those are my favorite. The story felt so sincere and I was rooting for them right away. The writing is good and kept you wanting to know what was going to happen next. I was nervous it would have a third-act break up, and grateful it did not. While I thought I was not going to like what the conflict was, it was done well and I enjoyed where the story unfolded. For a debut novel this was great, and I am excited to read more from Weena in the future.

I went into this book as a functioning adult. I came out a puddle of feelings with a serious addiction to the idea of a life-size pile of cute little Post-it notes.
The author writes love so well that I'm genuinely reconsidering my standards for all human interaction. Alora and Ben? I wasn't just rooting for them. I wanted duct-tape them together, and force them to communicate their feelings immediately. My inner monologue was just one long, desperate scream of, "KISS ALREADY, YOU BEAUTIFUL IDIOTS." Thank heavens for the dual POV, because I loved hearing their inner monologues.
The vulnerability of the characters was so on point,it made me want to call my own therapist, and I don't even have a therapist. It feels like a cozy fall read, which fit the mood perfectly.
Honestly, I'm furious it ended. Now I have to go back to my actual life, which, sadly, features zero Ben, zero Alora, and a severe lack of poetic, soul-baring Post-it notes. 10/10, would abandon my real-world responsibilities again.

ARC READER - SPOILERS AHEAD

3.5 ⭐️

overall i enjoyed this book! it was really cute and luna is hands down my favorite character. i think alora and ben both have potential to be amazing characters. the romance between them was very insta-love though. quite literally. the plot wasn’t really there. it was mostly just “BAM: instant love.” the main “plot” took place in the last 25% of the book. i do think it could have been executed way better.

i enjoyed the side characters, tessa and stephan, and the way they both supported the main characters. i liked that they had their own little story going on, and believe there is potential for a second book based on them.

the writing could have been better, and the constant use of “later that day…” or “hours later…” at the beginning of chapters or even in the middle of them could have been avoided. also a large majority of chapters started with the characters waking up and then ended with them going to bed.

this author is a new author so i believe the writing will improve! again, i did like it overall. the romance between alora and ben seems great, just needs to be better executed.

if you’re into “love at first sight,” quick romance, or short books i definitely recommend this book.

I won this book on Goodreads. What a satisfying and cozy romance. Alora & Ben were like magnets and you knew they were going to be together. What I didn’t see coming was how Ben was the victim and not Alora. That was a nice change of pace. Their banter was so realistic. It was fast paced but I could have been just as happy with a slower pace. The Annie character was an interesting impediment to the couple. I wish she and her relationship with Ben backstory was more robust. It stilled worked , you knew she was the villain. I wished we were told more about Tessa & Stephen. There’s a story there…Looking forward to the next book from the author

If there's one phrase to sum this entire book up, it's when you know, you know.

The prologue had my heart breaking, and I needed to know how it all ended. This was a very quick read; I finished it in about 3 hours. I loved the intense moments with Ben's past catching up to him and the vulnerability he showed Alora. In fact, my favorite part of this book was the dual point of view, not only seeing the vulnerability he shows Alora but also reading about his feelings through his perspective.

I can't wait to see what Weena comes out with next!

This was a very good quick contemporary romance read! Who knew bumping into each other outside a coffee shop and then again at work would lead to such an amazing romance with lots and lots of sticky notes. Ben and Alora both feel like they don't deserve happiness and love, but they find exactly that within each other. Even through obstacles thrown their way they remain strong and steadfast. I love that the soulmate trope wasn't overly done and just seemed to flow. I really enjoyed this book!

Oh I loved this! It’s an incredibly fast paced, love at first sight story. It’s just adorable! The characters are described beautifully, our FMC is pure “Sunshine” 😜and our MMC is completely and utterly besotted with her and it’s just so wholesome and beautiful.
Also, the artwork in this book is stunning!

**ARC REVIEW**

This was warm and emotional. I liked the characters, and it was perfect for reading during rainy days (aka, every day right now). The meet cute was a little bit insta love for my natural taste, but i still rated it 4 stars because it was really nicely written and easy to devour in a short space of time.

This is a heartfelt romance about Alora and Ben, two souls drawn together by fate and tested by secrets. It has a nice dreamy tone to it and easy to read. Look forward to her next book. Best quote of the book Standout Quote: “One sticky note. One promise. A thousand reasons to fight for forever.”

I enjoyed this book so much that I read it in one sitting. The storyline was engaging and flowed with ease. The female male character was excited to start what looked to be her dream job. In walks (or bumps) the male main character who wasn't looking for love. Both collide and sparks fly in a big way.

There were times when I thought the story was moving a little too quickly, especially when it came to the romance. However, once I realized the intent was for them to be fated mates it all made sense.

If you're looking for a quick, cozy read look no further.

You'll get:
◾Fated mates/Twin Flames
◾Found family
◾Second chances & healing
◾Furry friend

This was cute little love story. ❤️

Super fast paced, at least in the aspect of their relationship and love story.

Alora’s character is pretty easy to relate to, and Ben is written wonderfully.

Their instant connection and romance burns and moves very fast, which isn’t a bad thing because there are relationships that are non fictional that move and progress in the same way.

I love the addition of having a ex in the man’s life that comes in and is determined to tear them apart. Oftentimes it’s more the woman who has the stalker ex.

All In all- if you’re looking for a cute fast-paced romance that leaves you feeling all warm and cozy.. this is it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to the Author, Weena Bernabel for allowing me to ARC read this for you!

***ARC REVIEW***

I was excited to read a book written but Weena. The way she reviews other books and knowing she low key wrote her own was a plus.

Now this was a fast-paced contemporary romance so be aware if you don't like the fast pace then it's not for you... Now the way the two main characters fall for each other was cute. There is some spice. oh, let's not forget about the toxic ex... so don't miss out.

Like I said it's a quick read, chapters were short but a great story.

Unfortunately, I had to DNF this book at 35% (Chapter 20, page 81). The writing style consisted of little context and mostly short, unremarkable dialogue. In Another Lifetime reads like those short romance dramas/ reels that are advertised on social media, though not as intriguing.

Thank you to Weena Bernabel and Bookfunnel for the ARC! All thoughts, opinions, and critiques are my own.

(My review contains no spoilers.)

This was instant infatuation from both parties, characterized by constant love bombing and barely any other internal thoughts from either perspective other than how much they are ‘in love’ with each other. There’s rarely any meaningful discussion between the two, and the romance feels shallow.

You already know from the beginning that it doesn’t work out for them, which begs the question: why am I reading this if there is nothing else to the story? No character personality or growth/ development, little mention of side characters, a vague setting, and the fast romance is the only focus - not for me.

Just because I didn’t enjoy In Another Lifetime doesn’t mean that others won’t.

OMG!!!!! That is the cutest book I have ever read. If you want a quick, fast pace, with a dash of psycho ex then In Another Life is for you. This gem of a book will have you turning the pages to see what's next. With a cute doggie sidekick you will fall in love with these charachters just as I have. The connection between the FMC and the MMC can only be explained as Twin Flames, How they just know what each other needs and when somethings not right. Also yes it might have made me cry but it was happy tears. Yall go check it out i promise you won't be disappointed.

I went into this hoping to be fully swept off my feet by a romance.
Alora and Ben's relationship was emotional, the tension was good, and it felt raw and familiar.
Alora and Ben's vulnerability was sweet and emotional.

To be honest the writing style didn't do it for me, even with the pacing, it felt a little hit and miss.
This wasn't a perfect read, but it was still a meaningful story.
I think with a few little tweaks it would hit a home run.

If you like cute stories this is for you.
Just because it wasn't a 10/10 for me doesn't mean it won't be a 10/10 for you.

I loved how lyrically this book was written. It was a beautiful story of two people finding each other and falling in love. Alora and Ben fit so well together. I enjoyed getting to read their love story. I thought Alora was such a beautiful human being. She was so kind, loving and understanding. She accepted Ben for everything he is.
I really liked Stephan and Tessa. I'm hoping for a story about them as well.

Thank you Weena Bernabel for the eARC and sharing this story with me.
