Pretty Ruthless Monsters #2

Krone des Betrugs (Schöne Grausame Monster 2)

Rate this book

***

«Was dir gehört, gehört mir…»

SO SO SO GOOD! We’re back with Quinn, Nico, Killian, and Atlas right where the first book left off. The tension, the plot, the smut 🤌🏻 I was locked in and hated that I kept getting pulled away from the book. Eva always delivers not only on smut but a freaking bomb ass plot that had me eagerly turning pages to figure out what the hell was happening. The love Quinn and her men have for each other despite everything was just so damn good and the CLIFFHANGER!!! I cannot wait for the next one.

This picked right up from the cliffhanger of the first book and I loved the anger, betrayal and hurt. It was definitely in the enemy zone early on, so I really loved it. There was a lot of progress on the relationship part here and big reveals in the end (of course) so it was exciting all along. Definitely a page-turner. It was great to see Willow and her guys make cameos in here as well (my favorite group BY FAR in this world, so I would highly recommend Filthy Wicked Psychos if you haven't read them yet).

I honestly wouldn't have minded if there was less sex in here though; I started skimming those scenes towards the end. Definitely can see this being an unpopular opinion but eh, whatever haha.

Looking forward to part 3.

Exceptional. And exactly why I wait for the full series to be out, CLIFF HANGER! This book was just everything. The progression of betrayal to trusting to lovers was so perfectly paced. The overarching plot is captivating and I was NOT expecting the person that turned out to be The Saint (although he was fishy when they met). I need this cliff hanger resolved immediately PLS

Tropes:
Enemies to lovers to enemies…to lovers, lies and betrayal, biker gang, gang rivalry, marriage of convenience, why-choose, captor x captive, rescue, badass FMC, touch her and 💀 (even when they “hated each other”), mmf, mmmf, forced proximity

TW: schmurder, being drugged, previous trauma (abuse & assault)

I feel like this book didn’t need to be created. It was very repetitive from the first book and because of that, I lost interest really quick.

I was trying this series again, I didn’t really vibe with the first book, but I was hoping it would get better. It just felt like it was slow moving, just like the first book. They are just dealing with the aftermath of betrayal that they’ve done to each other.

I get that they are all angry and feel betrayed, but if only they took the time to explain what was going on, they probably could have worked better together.

Overall, it was too long and drawn out and didn’t really feel like they got closer to any answers until the last 30 pages of the book. It was very underwhelming.

This isn’t worth the high rating.
-i haven’t read anything that convinced me of her being an active serious participant in a gang, let alone a leader.
-the sex scenes were mostly boring and repetitive.
-the mystery is drawn out.
-a lot of repetition and filler in this book.

Review: The last book ended on a cliffhanger and thank god this book continued right where it left off.
The trust between Quinn and the princes is broken because of the betrayal from both sides.

I ate this book up !!! There was not one second where I wanted to put this book down.
I loved how it took time for them to start trusting each other because it made it more realistic.
There was so much hate, desire, tension and anger which made each interaction between them so good and full of emotions.

If I could I would choose all the princes of carnage.
Atlas, Killian and Nico made their way into my heart. They might not be blood related but they are brothers by choice and you can really tell that. There is no need to communicate with words because they just understand each other. The loyalty runs so deep you don’t even question it. In this book we find more out about the past of the princes which was heartbreaking.
Quinn is even more badass in this one even though she felt betrayed. The fighting scenes with her were so good and I was gripping my kindle so hard. Quinn would do everything for the gang. She wants to continue her fathers legacy. I admire her wittiness, strength and honesty that she has.

Over time all four realised that they are stronger when they are a team and seeing that was so hot. It was them against the world.
I thought all the questions from book one would be answered and while some were answered, even more came up!!! Which makes me so excited to read book three next year.
I am genuinely so happy I randomly started reading book one this year. The writing makes you feel so attached to the characters. I can genuinely relate to all the feelings and emotions that the characters are going through.
If you haven’t started reading this series pls do you will not regret it !!

Nope, couldn’t finish it. This frustrated the hell out of me.
I lasted 45%. That feels like an achievement, especially considering I didn’t want to carry on with book 2 in the first place. Literally the only thing that hooked me was the cliffy at the end of the first. Admittedly…it was pretty good. But take away the cliffhanger and I’m left with a main character that I have very little respect for.

Quinn did my head in.
I couldn’t wrap my head around her being the leader of a gang. Like, when did she ever actually run it? The whole time she’s been off chasing down a lead, or sitting in her tattoo parlour actually doing a tattoo. Very rarely did she have meetings with members of her gang.
But mostly (not kidding, she does this almost the whole time), she runs around with a member of her rival gang, second, third, and fourth guessing her feelings and the feelings of the three men around her. This book was jam packed with emotional fluff.
She let these men that she didn’t trust dictate her life.
She also hardly ever took an offensive stance tackling a problem. A lot was reactionary, or else the men came up with the idea.
They were also the only ones who could soothe her.
She also felt heavily like a woman who needed a man in her life. She missed her dad fiercely (understandable) because she had no one to lean on and trust 100% (🤔 hmm). But did she need these men?? She said no but her body said yes 🙄.
I wanted a woman who stood strong herself. I got a woman who said she was strong, and yet broke down ALL. OVER. THE. PLACE.
Like I said, normally I wouldn’t care about that but she spends so much of her time saying she doesn’t need them, she’s strong, she’s hates them, despises them, they’re liars etc etc, and then…🤨
I have no time for her flip floppy rubbish.

The men were interesting. I actually kinda liked them for the most part. I liked their stalky, growly, possessive, jealous tendencies. I didn’t like her reactions to them. Their spice was kinda hot, but afterwards she thinks too much. Like honey, own it! If you were a man, they would not second guess. They would do what they wanted, whenever they wanted, and everyone else needed to fall in line.

Lastly, I wanted to know who this “bad guy” was. That’s probably my biggest disappointment, not knowing who he or she was in the end.

Pretty Ruthless Monsters ARC

Boy oh boy this book. I won it as a ARC. I would trade places with Quinn in a heartbeat to have them 3 beautiful men. I was a Killian girl but I'm starting to really love Nico. Let me just say this book was AMAZING as always and the cliffhanger was as bad as always. But if you haven't started this series you are sure missing out on a amazing book with a lot of good spice.

Chef’s Kiss.

We pick up right where book 1 ends, and from the get go, it’s all gas and no breaks. Quinn, Killian, Nico and Atlas are all trying to untangle why Quinn is so important, who The Saint is, all while their trust in each other and their gangs are put to the test.

The spicy scenes are off the charts, and the plot thickens when we finally get answers on why and who is behind the hit on Quinn, but that cliffhanger….. Need book three like yesterday, and absolutely obsessed with this series!

DNF 65%

So this is pretty much the same thing as the first one, we are "enemies" but we are fucking our brains out.

I was ready to DNF at 12% after the whole charade of "we are torturing her, but not really." The MMC's reason for being upset with the FMC was stupid. I didn't really like them before, and this definitely didn't help, and the FMC is meh.

The plot was a tad more interesting, but not by much. It was essentially the same thing again: we are allies, we are looking for information, and in the meantime, we are banging each other a lot.

🎶 We were stupid to jump. In the ocean separating us. Remember how I’d fly to you? 🎶

Quinn (h) thought walking away from the Princes of Carnage (H) would be the hardest thing she’d ever do—until she learned someone wants her dead. With their clubhouse in ruins and betrayal burning hot between them, Nico, Killian, and Atlas want blood for what they think she stole. But the real enemy didn’t die with Silas, and the deeper the secrets go, the more Quinn realizes she’s still part of their world—whether she likes it or not. They hate her. She doesn’t trust them. But if they don’t work together, none of them will survive what’s coming next.

─── .¸✿¸.•❤•.❀• THOUGHTS¸•❀.•❤•.¸✿¸.⋆ ───

If I’m wrong, then I’m wrong, but I can’t help thinking that Emmett is the one behind all of this. His personality shifted after she turned him down, and I feel like he’s upset. It’s almost like he was trying to get closer to her just for information, because she’s special in some way. As soon as she showed disinterest, he had to divert, and now he doesn’t have access to her secrets. That makes me think that maybe he was planning to use her from the beginning. I don’t know exactly what the connection is yet between what her father is hiding and Emmett, but I think there is one. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were bonded somehow. I’m writing this before finishing the book, but it was an instant thought I needed to get down.

[Nico]

HUSBAND 💖💌💗🤍. He fires first and asks questions later when it comes to protecting Quinn. When it comes to her, he loses control. He will do anything to keep her safe, even if it means losing the trust of his own people. He cares fiercely for those in his circle, and that includes her. It took him some time to forgive, but he eventually called a truce. It was the smartest choice for both of them because neither one could truly end the other. And in that fragile space, you could see how much he cared—how much he loved. That moment when he closed his eyes and just waited for her to end him instead of keeping up the fight absolutely gutted me. He had already made peace with it. For him, if it ended there, then at least it ended with Quinn. Considering it was such a serious moment… I know, I know, she was never really going to end him. But still—THE TENSION 💌💖❤️💓🤍. The back and forth, the constant push and pull, the way they were both trying to get the other to call it quits while fighting for dominance. Oh, this was so good.

[Atlas]

Now Atlas is the one suffering, being tortured because of Ambrose. LEAVE MY BOY ALONE. I love him. He claimed her, ditched Zoey, and even tattooed a ring on his finger so he could have equal claim to her. Their first time together at the club was 🫩😔. It was out of their control, something he did to protect her, but even then he tried to make sure she enjoyed the moment while they were both just trying to survive. That broke me. At the end of the day, he hates that he still wants her, but he’s willing to start over. He risked everything for her - and for Killian and Nico—to make sure she got out safe. 🥹😭🩷💘💕💞🤍

[Killian]

It’s the fact that Killian doesn’t really know how to understand people, and he doesn’t have much of a relatability factor. But even so, he still knew that keeping her in the basement was wrong. He felt guilty about it. You could see the cracks forming in his loyalty, like he was reaching a point where he was sick and tired of blindly obeying orders. He cares for her that much, but he hasn’t fully stepped up to it yet. And that tension—between knowing it’s wrong, wanting to act, but holding back—is exactly what makes his arc so GOOD.

─── .¸✿¸.•❤•.❀• OVERALL¸•❀.•❤•.¸✿¸.⋆ ───

The entire time they are looking for the mark & it’s her tattoo. I didn’t connect that. I still think Emmett has a role in this. He can’t be just an infatuated second in command, this betrayal might hit Quinn hard. He has to be behind something.

The Queen of Cliffhangers is back at it! 😭🙃

Picking up immediately after the end of book one, Princes of Carnage, Quinn is in deep shit with the guys and gangs. Alliances are tested, broken, and reforged. It's enemies to lovers back to enemies and after a very TENSE journey, eventually back to lovers. There's a new player in town, The Saint, and what he's after will test every alliance, truce, and relationship.

If you've read Eva Ashwood's books before, you know they can crossover. Once again, we see the connection between Filthy Wicked Psychos with this series. Willow and the Voronin brothers still owe a life debt that's been passed to Quinn since her father's death, and Quinn comes to collect. (Vic and Dayana 🫠)

The betrayal, mystery, and intrigue keep you guessing with every twist and turn. A plot twist you will not see coming and an ending that will have you throwing the book across the room. It's worth every penny, tear, and sigh of frustration.

Nico, Atlas, Killian 🔥🔥🔥
Mia Cara, Vicious, Siren ❤️🖤💜

The plot was fast-paced and driven.
The spice was spicy!
The character development was top knotch.
I need book three STAT. Eva's Cliffhangers are BRUTAL, and prepare accordingly.

Favorite Quotes:
“If you’re going to kill me, then do it. It’s not polite to play with your food,”

"They say nothing will bring you down faster than a woman with a vendetta."

"Nothing good can come from blurred lines and fucked up priorities."

“Keep your eyes on me if you want to keep them in your head. That’s my fucking wife.”

“Well, it’s as good a day as any to die.”

"She burrowed her way under my skin, into my veins, until I couldn’t tell where I ended and she began."

"She’s a fucking vision— battered, bloody, but unbroken."

This one was definitely frustrating, so I’m done with the series. I also hate when something happens to any of the men. I’d rather the FMC get shot, kidnapped, etc. I don’t want to be stressed about one of the men.

At the beginning of this book she is chained up in the basement because she burned down their clubhouse. However, they were the ones lying to her from the get go. She feels horrible for what she did but their guilt? Basically non existent! Niko apologized at one point and of course she just forgave him immediately and essentially told him he had nothing to apologize for. Ummmmmm hello???? Did you forget they chained you up in your own basement for DAYS??

I wanted them to acknowledge at some point that she clearly didn’t know anything about the symbol or the DLS. She found out the info along with them and at no point did she say “ohhh, I was chained up in the basement being asked about this for you guys to now see I clearly didn’t know anything.” I mean, they felt zero guilt for that and I can’t get past it.

She also had wayyyyy too much sex with them. I love smut, but it takes something away from the smut when she says “I’ll never do this again” then the next chapter she is on her knees for all of them being their whore. Not judging the way she likes to have sex, but totally judging the fact she has ZERO self control and not holding them accountable for the fact they lied to her then tortured her….

Also-she was in a car accident, kidnapped, tied up, abused, in a gunfight, then the guys rescue her and take her home. Then….guess what? She has sex with all 3 of them!! What???? A truck full of your men just died, you were kidnapped and just got home! Go take a shower. Sleep! Putting on a fucking bandaid! Don’t get railed by 3 men who just chained you up in a basement last week 🤦‍♀️ nope, done with this series.

Quinn has all the guys wrapped around her finger until she finds out they’ve been lying to her and spying on her for someone named the Saint. Quinn burns down their clubhouse because screw those guys.
They retaliate by capturing her and locking her up in her own basement. They’re convinced that she knows more than she’s letting on but she doesn’t. Then they all call a truce to work together again. They blame the burned down clubhouse on the guy they killed that was working for the saint.
They go on a mission to find the saint. But then atlas’s jealous ex girlfriend tells everyone that Quinn really burned down the clubhouse so they all turn on the princes.
Six people show up later and ask to come back and say that the ex girlfriend and her boy toy are talking takeover.
They continue searching for clues. The boys tell her they were hired to find a symbol but they don’t know what it means and neither does she. Then they try to connect her dad and her uncle and come up with a plan to visit the uncles ex cellmate from prison.
He tells them that he knows about a marker to get into the dark lotus syndicate and it’s very powerful mafia shit. But they can’t find the marker and don’t know what it might be.
One night Quinn and atlas go to the sex club they used to go to and in the black light one of Quinn’s tattoos lights up with the symbol they were looking for. So it turns out her father hid the symbol in black light ink on her back.
They go to her tattoo club and go in a back room with the other two princes to show them the tattoo and then the shop gets attacked and it turns out the cellmate is the saint. He drugs Quinn but she gets away with Nico and killian. But atlas gets shot and the saint takes him aw

Eva Ashwood can write twists and turns that leave your jaw on the floor like nobody’s business.

This picks up immediately following the cliffhanger from the previous book and ramps up the intensity and stakes every single page.

The three MMCs are absolutely phenomenal and compliment each other in a way that you don’t always see. They have similarities but are so different at the same time. Each character has their own tragic backstory and the way each of them has an intense bond with Quinn is beautifully done. The relationships are real, deep and a mutual respect for each other.

Quinn is just a whole badass FMC. The toughness she exudes in spades both mentally and physically mixed with the softness she has, the way she cares for her people and protects them any way she can. The way she carries herself and the grace she has at all times is 10/10.

The spice be spicin in here but it was well done and didn’t really take away from the romantic connections or the plot. You can tell they love each other from the way the treat each other.

I’ve had a feeling that Emmett is somehow in on this whole bad guy plot and I’m interested to see if I’m right. I just get sketchy vibes from him and have since book 1

This book is grating on my nerves!

She found out they were just spying on her the whole time. When she burns the clubhouse and confronts them, they tell her they were going to quit, and she just, what? Accepts that? They are all mad at each other, but she still sleeps with them, even though they betrayed her. I dont get it. I would totally make them grovel, even if a little. She just accepts it and just jumps back into bed with them.

Then, once she is grabbed, only then does Nico realize it was his fault for what she did? That is too little too late.

For the love of all things holy, can the author at least decide what Quinn's last name is? Last book it was Kent, now it is Byrne? That's a sloppy mistake.

I hope they figure out thay the only person that knew about the tattoo marker was Emmett, and he had to have been the one to tell Ambrose. How else would he have known when to attack? Sure it wasn't just a coincidence. The author wouldn't do that, right?

I knew this weird crazy story would end up going into DLS. Destroying the marker seems to normal for this author.

Moving on the the next book to keep going.

When I thought the story couldn’t get any better…Eva Ashwood proves me wrong. Book two starts right where we left off in book one and continues to expand on the intricate storylines of each character. The plot and the characters delve deeper into the storyline and created so much suspense throughout. I absolutely did not want to put this one down. You could see the struggles Quinn faced as new information came to light and how the sting of betrayal hit Nico, Killian, and Atlas hard. I absolutely love the character building and just when you think you know the character, Eva adds more depth to help you connect even more.

The chemistry and the connection that these four characters have with each other only got better as the story progressed. These men are extremely devoted to Quinn and I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT. There is no rest for the wicked as far as the enemy is concerned and the list just keeps getting longer and longer.

We end on another cliffhanger which will only make the wait for book three that much more excruciating.

Eva, Eva, Eva, you beautiful genius. You've done it again.

This is the second book in the Pretty Ruthless Monsters series, and it is full of surprises. There's action, betrayal, plenty of stupidly HOT AF steamy scenes, and mystery. Who is The Saint? What other little twists are there? Ohh you definitely want to read it to find out. And of course, it ends on a cliffhanger, because why wouldn't it?? And when I say cliffhanger, I mean you're going to want to throw your book/phone/Kindle.. but don't do it! Just go yell at Eva, because she deserves it after that cliffy. Although, to be fair, I'd be desperate for the next book even without the cliffy. Did I mention the smokin hot guys? Killian, Atlas, and Nico. All 3 are dominant (in and out of the bedroom *wink wink*) b@da$$es, and yes, you will want to p*nch them at some point. But don't we all love the red flags?

My brain is overloaded in a good way

Oooooooooohhhhhhh wwwwwweeeeeeee. My brain is going to need a minute to decompress after that. Some questions have been answered but now I have like 15 million more. The ending! Sweet baby Jesus. I love Quinn and her merry men. I really enjoyed the first book, the second is on par with that. I know we have two more to go but man am I dying to see what comes next for them. There is going to be so much fallout after that ending and it’s not going to be pretty. I’m sure they’re going to have so much more to endure and it’s only going to shape and strength them. Also you know that moment when the hate builds so much that explodes and leads to passion. Yeah….. this book has that in spades. So many more mysteries to uncover and I can’t wait.
