They stole me in the dark— A daughter traded like blood money. My father handed me to the Bratva.
Now I belong to Luka Dubinin. Older. Colder. Sin in a tailored suit.
He doesn’t force my submission. He seduces it with silence and steel.
Builds me a studio. Watches me dance. Burns me alive with every glance.
I swore I’d never break. Never beg. Never love a man like him.
But I crave his voice. His touch. His darkness. His power.
He shields me with bullets. Loves me like war—violent and absolute.
I should escape. Instead, I made a vow behind locked doors.
Not of love. Not of freedom. But of surrender… and survival.
These are our Captive Vows. And now… I’m carrying the Pakhan’s child.
But when the truth comes out… will he protect me— or destroy me like all the others?
Author’s If you love dangerous men, defiant heroines, forbidden passion, and secret babies… then Captive Vows is for you. Luka and Gabriella’s story is dark, sinful, and heartbreakingly addictive. Are you ready to be ruined by the Pakhan?
The novel revolves around The Dubinin Syndicate. I found it difficult to determine just what they were, the cover says Bratva, yet they refer multiple times to themselves as Mafia, and the top-dog Boss. I recall Pakhan once, I believe. Doesn't really matter, I enjoyed the book anyway. Kept my attention fully. I'll keep this as vague as possible, no spoilers if it can be helped, unlike some of the others. I don't like to give an entire play-by-play in a review. Why bother reading it then? The story focuses on the MFC, Gabrielle, and MMC, Luka. Additional side characters are a grown son and other relatives. He likes to keep his close-knit circle composed of trustworthy family. Luka meets Gabriella through an underhanded arranged deal. Slow and angsty, it's quite the hate-to-love, or is that love-to-hate?
I enjoyed the plot, the slow burn, and the climactic elements of this story. And finally, a Mafia book that actually has Mafia issues worked into the plot instead of a book that just says they are mafia/ bratva and nothing occurs to back it up. I have no triggers, so I actually enjoy the scenes much like watching them in an action movie. Good job, Ava Gray! For me, this one hit straight outta the ball park!
Now, unfortunately, I have to wait an entire month for the next installment!.

Started out good held my attention but I almost quit reading it on about page 20 he said that he might sell the MMC knowing she was a virgin. When his wife got killed she was pregnant with the girl how could he even conceive something like that. It proved her point that men were no good! That's unforgivable not my kind Mafia man. The MMC was 49 and the MFC was 22 that's too much of an age Gap, too close to pedophilia. That creeped me out so I put the book down for a while. I am glad that I finished it. The MMC did redeem himself a little towards the end but I still took off points for the fact that he was the kind of man that would sell an innocent virgin to the highest bidder.
The chemistry was lacking with all the time skipping/jumps and stubbornness on wanting each other to give in… not speaking to each other pretty much her entire pregnancy I just didn’t buy that they were in love. The execution was lacking.
really really enjoyed it but i absolutely hated how her mindset completely changed after having her baby. she gave up on her dreams to be a dancer bc “she’s a mom and wife now.” as if you can’t do both ?? i hate the mindset in new moms, that once they have a baby they feel they have to give up everything they ever wanted bc they have a kid now, and that was her.
she tries to dance again PP, but she says multiple times how she doesn’t want to dance on stage anymore or go to juilliard bc she’s a mom/wife and i got very irritated. disappointing tbh

I thoroughly enjoyed this well written and fun story. gabriella is a young 22 yr old virgin girl who lives for ballet lessons. she is taken by luka 49 in payment of a debt her father owes. kidnapped drugged and locked up by his son and nephew in his house he isn't sure what to do with her. he had planned to sell her but she intrigues him and fights every guard who enters her room physically wounding them. he likes her fire, spirit and determination to not submit so keeps her around since its pulled him out of his depression he was sinking into. watching her on security camera he sees her dance for hours a day while locked up so he starts making her eat meals with him, then moves her to a room near his then builds her a dance studio. bit by bit they learn to talk and he watches her dance and learns a bit of her dreams. he brings in dance instructors and continues to do nice things for her unsure of why. her father determined to get her back in order to use her as a pawn in his schemes sends armed men to attack her any time she is off the property so she ends up more lcoked up and caged then ever which she rebels against. but she also can't stop feeling the chemistry between them and one day they give in. things continue to happen, betrayal is close by, enemies continue to try and kidnap her back, and luka is feeling more and more in his heart for her while fighting it all the way. she is not used to the mafia life and sees violence, blood, guns and feels like this way of life is too violent for her but luka can't let her go or she will die and he's unwilling to let her go for his own sake despite continuing to deny how deep he's fallen. then she falls pregnant with his child and keeps it hidden until he finds out thru another and all heck breaks loose. he is furious at her not telling him and she's determined her baby won't be a pawn to be used like she is being used. neither will bend which leads to a war between them with both unwilling to bend break or forgive. will they ever find their way back to each other esp before the baby arrives? will luka learn that love is ok and safe to feel and doens't mean a death sentence? will gabriella ever feel valued and cherished for herself and not just a pawn or possession to be used in the games the mafia play? and can they all keep her alive? wonderful characters great plot.

You might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Gabriella is a ballet dancer it has been her dream that she has worked hard to achieve lives for her ballet lessons until she is taken locked away unsure where isn’t told very much with exception she is payment for a debt owed by her father but she isn’t going down without a fight fights every guard wounding them, determined to get back to her life and freedom of dancing which was her life. Luka sexy as all get out Bratva boss isn’t a man with a lot of patience, isn’t one you want on your radar, taught his son to be just as ruthless, dangerous on a good day, deadly every day, usually he doesn’t take humans as payment for debt but the dancer intrigues him her fight, spirit to fight, determination not to submit that alone keeps him from slipping into a depression and watching her dance learning of her dream allows him to further it. This is the 1st story in The Dubinin Bratva Duet where Gabriella finds herself betrayed by her criminal father, sold to the Bratva for a debt owed. When her dreams of continuing her ballet dancing ends she knows her life will never be the same. Luka, Pakhan is twice her age, who demands results and is intrigued by the fight in Gabriella who inflicts pain to his men when they are in her proximity. Deciding not to sell Gabriella allows Luka to watch and learn where her fight, fire and determination comes from and her refusal of submitting. Luka slowly comes out of his depression and finds ways to bring Gabriella out of her room. They begin to have conversations and become more only when Gabriella gives in to Luka then when her father makes deals with other dangerous men, trying to sell his daughter. Everyone in the house has had with them as Luka has lived many years without love making him a hard man that doesn’t believe love until Gabriella chips away at his hardened heart. BORING is the best way to describe this book. why do I have to suffer thru reading about her stupid dance ambitions. She's 22 yo so way too old to audition for Julliard. Plus, WTH has she been doing for 4 years. Just practicing and doing zero performances anywhere. She's not part of a dance company or in dance school. She's too lazy to get a job. I just don't understand why we should like her.
ZERO CHEMISTRY would be another word for this. So this dude's motivation is even lamer than his. He's bored which I totally get b/c he's been put into the world's most mundane book ever. But he thinks she's hot and then does nothing about it but watches her on video cam while she's trapped in a room.
NO CLOTHES and then what's up with her refusing to wear new clothes. It's unhygenic and I would imagine pretty smelly.
LACKS MAFIA ELEMENTS yes, he's a criminal but beyond that there is no he falls first, not possessiveness or jealousy, no saving her, just lots of her being locked in a room with her smelly unlaundered clothes
I DNF'd this at 70% at which point the only new thing that happened is she's pregnant which really shouldn't be a surprise with the unprotected sex but she sounds like a high school kid who's alarmed that her period is late
All Gabriella wants to do is succeed at ballet. She is traded to Luka when her dirt bag father is caught betraying Luka. His associates kidnap her from the apartment she shares with her father, but she refuses to cooperate and ends up almost being more than they can handle. She is sequestered at Luka's home but refuses to engage with him which frustrates him. They slowly come to a truce, especially when he builds her a studio so she can practice ballet. She is being threatened by a rival gang which results in her nearly being kidnapped. Luka is able to fend off the attackers not realizing her father is the cause of the turmoil. There is a major upheaval in the home which results in Luka and Gabriella refusing to back down. There is ultimately a HEA ending, but it takes quite an effort for Luka and Gabriella to resolve their differences. This story had a great plot with wonderful characters who both are stubborn. The plot had great twists which surprised me. I binge read this one.

Luka and Gabriella’s story begins with them as enemies, but the sparks between them are undeniable. The slow build of their relationship is both sexy and tender, and watching them grow to truly care for one another is beautiful.
As the Mob boss, Luka brings danger into their lives, but his protectiveness over Gabriella is fierce and unwavering. Even though he resists the idea of love, he shows he cares in other powerful ways that completely won me over.
Gabriella’s journey is just as moving—she learns she’s no longer alone and begins to find hope in the family she builds not only with Luka, but also with his family and crew.
✨ A story of enemies-to-lovers, danger, and unexpected family that keeps you hooked until the last page.

Ava Gray brought out so much emotion between Gabriella and Luka! An age gap, mafia, captive, and found family romance with danger, betrayal, and misunderstandings! Luka has a grown son and nephews who he delegates to, he’s given up on love, and works hard to protect his family. Gabriella dreams of dancing ballet professionally, but her father ruins his life and takes her dream away. She’s so feisty, outspoken, and determined to escape Luka, but he’s mesmerized by her spirit and strength! I loved their bantering and how the chemistry grew until he could no longer resist. Fireworks, gunfire, and repeated attempts to steal Gabriella were met with fierce opposition! A very sweetly funny and heated exchange epilogue epitomized their relationship as a loving family!.

Luka Dubinin is head of the Bratva, one of his men is caught as a traitor. The man barters his daughter, Gabriella for his life. Luka accepts the terms and has his son collect her. Gabriella has no love for her father, he has never been a good man toward her. All she wants to do is to dance and now she is the prisoner of Luka Dubinin.
Luka tries to resist Gabriella, she is too young but she seems to be his match, just as stubborn. Their path is a rocky one, her father is not done with trying to use her.
I loved these two, they are both hard headed and butted heads often. The crap that his son and nephew give him is hilarious.

I loved this book. It has action , powerful characters including a strong willed woman. The Dubinin family has very strong ties. Luka is the Pakhan. His son and nephews are very close and strong. Gabriella only want to be a ballerina but her father had other ideas. She became a pawn in his dirty deals. This is how she met Luka. It quickly became their love story. It had it ups and downs with many misconceptions before they got their HEA. It has a he typical mafia drama too. It is a very good read! I throughly recommend and enjoyed reading it. This is the first book in the series. I can’t wait to see what else the author had in mind for Emil, Ivan and Alexsei and their future woman.

Luka was the Pakhan of the Bratva who was always in control and fought for his family. Miguel double crossed him and he sent his team to collect information on what was shared and to teach him a lesson. Beating him within inches of his life, Miguel offered his daughter to Luka to stay alive and he decided to spare him. But capturing Gabriella was not as easy as expected as she fought to protect herself and was a stubborn woman. Once on his possession he did not expect this beautiful woman, stubborn woman to be as challenging as she was and the more they were around each other the more each became intrigued he became no matter how much she pushed back.

Ava Gray knocked it out of the park with ‘Captive Vows’!!
Gabriella Lopez has been betrayed by the one person who is supposed to love her unconditionally…her father, Miguel Lopez. His betrayal of the Dubinin Bratva sets of a series of events that no one could have foreseen.
Luka Dubinin, Pakhan of the Dubinin Bratva, wants to make an example of Miguel. Being a traitor to the Bratva has consequences. When he takes Gabriella as a consequence to Miguel’s treachery, along with a beating to within an inch of his life, Luka never imagined that it was he that would have his heart taken captive.

Once you start reading Luka and Gabriella's story, you're going to lose control of your surroundings from start to finish. You are going to feel like your right there in this storyline the characters are going through. This is the type of book that will keep you up late at night reading until you can't keep your eyes open anymore but then you are up bright and early finishing this phenomenal romance book. Give me caffeine now because I might need it after having a late night reading this 10-star book. I am like in a kid in a toy store waiting for book number 2 now.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a little longer than I am used to, but it was well worth it. Luka and Gabriella were thrown together when he was given her by his father for a debt. She was furious and it took quite a while for her to forgive him. Once they gave into each other, they still didn't talk much which led to huge misunderstandings. The book had alot of violence, but you would expect that in a Mafia story. It also had romance and love, but that took longer. Good book.

Rating 4.5 In this story there is never a dull moment and you never know what is going to happen next. There appears to be constant danger but in the end it all works out. Gabriella and Luka run the full gamut of hate to love but it is a slow process with obstacles along the way. They eventually get their happy ever and that made me happy. I loved the later introduction of Andre to the story. It’s definitely a story worth reading. Love the cover pic. I loved Luka and Gabriella. Thos couple were both very strong willed characters, almost to their detriment. Their meeting was not a great situation for her, but the passion between them proves to be more than either can fight.
The secondary characters are good, strong men as well. Family means everything to this group, and they will protect their family at all costs.
There is a great mafia based storyline in this book which I didn't find overdone.
I highly recommend this story.

Gabriella is taken captive by Luka because of her father betraying him. He woos her slowly. I love Gabriella as an FMC because she is truly stubborn. She’s not enough over, and she made Luka work for her affection. This was a good book. It was definitely a slow burn. No insta-love, or lust to be found. It was slowly built on day to day watching and interactions. I really enjoyed this book. I am so excited to see who is next to be paired off of the men in this series.
We follow Gabriella and Luka. Their journey begins when her father sells her to him to pay off his many debts. From the very first moment, he has feelings for her, but it's too early because she doesn't trust him and doesn't know what his plans are for her. He has a lot of work to do before he wins her trust. A wonderfully steamy Bratva story that held your attention from the very beginning with plenty of momentum.

Captive Vows is the first book in The Dubinin Bratva series. This story was addictive, in both delicious and naughty ways. The story is an age-gap, Bratva, push/pull, kidnapped and captive romance between Gabriella Lopez and Luka Dubinin. She wants to be a professional ballet dancer and he is the Pakhan of the Dubinin Bratva family. Let's just say that this book is intriguing, entertaining, and action filled. I liked the characters, even when I wanted to kick a few butts, and the HEA is perfect for this couple.
Captive Vows is book 1 in the Dubinin Bratva and is Luka and Gabriella's story. It's very intense, dramatic and emotional. Gabriella is used to pay her father's debt so you can imagine how that went over. Their journey is compelling and quickly pulls you in and had me cheering for them right away in spite of the way they came together. Danger, chaos, twists and turns await them and they have huge walls to tear down but maybe eventually they end up right where they need to be.
This is one story that captures your interest from the begging when Gabriella's father gives her over for debt owed to Luka Dubinin, Irish mafia. These two are meant for each other, both strong willed and never give in, but that takes a few months for them to realise this fact. Danger for ger starts when her father wants to give her to another mafia family and things really hot up after that. Luke will do everything to keep her safe.
Gabriella is a young, headstrong and fierce woman, who lives for ballet. Luka is older, protective and oddly caring, who got Gabriella as payment.
Together they slowly learn to accept each other, then learn more about each other and give in to their undeniable chemistry. But with unexpected happenings, the past that resurfaces and an unsure future their happy ever after isn’t easily achieved.

She is an aspiring ballerina. He is the mafia don her father gave her to in order to repay a debt. She is many years his junior and not supposed to feel the way she does. Especially after being kidnapped and held in his home. Will their relationship develop beyond a simple business deal? Will her father’s mistakes come back to haunt her? I found this story very enthralling. I was so taken in by their love story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by booksprout.
I enjoyed slowburn age gap between a feisty young woman who finds herself sold to the Bratva for her father’s debt and the Pakhan who finds her intriguing. Luka is fascinated by her fighting spirit and plans to woo her into submission. Full of twists, boldness, suspense, forced proximity, strong characters and so much more.

An age gap, forced proximity, traded for debt, slow burn of the two most stubborn characters ever written. While the beginning started off a little weak, this story built and built to the perfect ending. Just the right amount of twists, turns, last minute saves, love and passion for the beginning Bratva series. Can’t wait to see what else is to come.
