Micah is the 14th novel in Anna del Mar's Alpha Heroes series, and she has totally outdone herself by creating two of the most intriguing characters of her career in this unputdownable, sexy, scary, snarky, suspenseful, tour de force of a novel. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

The first of the aforementioned characters is Affie (short for Aphrodite). She's got a penchant for creating her own words, which are usually hilarious. She's unapologetic about her sexuality, brash, snarky, fiery, a total chatterbox and she's the head masseuse at Indulgence, a nudist resort island for the uber-wealthy. She's working there under the assumed name, Claire Dubois, and she's on a mission to find her beloved brother, Phoenix (Nix), a Marine Raider, who's been missing and presumed dead for the past 3 years, a victim of the most evil and feared leader of the New World Order, Xao Li.

Affie has a special gift--with her hands on a client, she can enter their mind and read their thoughts and memories, which is how she knows that Nix has been in the hands of Xao Li for those 3 years, being brutally tortured but still alive, and after discovering that Xao Li is due to arrive at Indulgence in the near future, she plans to read his mind and discover the location of her brother so that he can be rescued--no small task.

What Affie soon discovers is that Battle Brothers (you really need to read this series in the order written), is also on the hunt for Xao Li, as notorious, vile, and feared a villain as Ms. del mar has ever created. Among his many other endeavors, Mr. Li is involved in the drug business, weapons sales, mind control, and dozens of other nefarious and illegal pursuits including human trafficking. To put an end to Li's empire, Battle Brothers has sent one of their most staid, staunch, serious, dedicated, duty-minded, and unflappable operatives to Indulgence under the assumed name, Joe Booker, whose real name is Micah, also a dedicated Marine Raider, and when he and Affie meet, it's not just sparks that fly, it's an entire fireworks exhibition.

Micah has his own orders, and he and Affie butt heads over who is in charge of this mission, and whose plan of attack will be most effective and successful. These two characters are complete and utter opposites, and their verbal sparring, and instant attraction leads to some of the sexiest scenes Ms. del Mar has ever written. The on-screen sex is just one of the triggers I should warn you about. They also include mental and physical torture, on-screen violence , off-screen child abuse (in the past), human trafficking, murder, mind control, and more. If any of these make you squeamish, this is not the book for you.

So, whose plan/mission will work? What will happen between the volatile relationship between Affie and Micah, Will Affie succeed in discovering where her brother is being held and tortured? Will either or both of these two unforgettable characters survive this operation? And boy, are there ever a multitude of surprises ahead for you. Since I don't do spoilers, I can only recommend that you get your hands on a copy of this thrill ride of a read, as well as the preceding novels in this series--I've loved each and every one of them.

Unbelievably addictive

The Astor sisters have unique qualities and supernatural gifts, but honestly, Affie is the strongest of them, IMO.
The way this author allows me to connect with these characters is one of my favorite things about this series, and her creativity. I always feel like I'm standing adjacent, seeing them in action. Love that!

Affie has endured the cruelest treatment from her father, compared to her sisters... and whew! It's unbelievably sad, twisted and terrifying! Throughout most of her life, Affie embraced the lies he flung at her. Not understanding the truths.

In her efforts to get information about Nix's whereabouts, she's playing a dangerous game - one that Micah means to end. I am addicted to these operatives and the dangerous situations they handle, to ensure everyone's safety.

I was very entertained by Affie's quirky and irreverent behaviors, and the dynamics of her gifts. My heart wept for Micah's past and these two seem opposites, but are perfectly matched.

There are SOO many twists and turns in this storyline, and I was on the edge of my seat most of my read.
The tracker team is everything we want and love - loyalty, bravery, honor, lethal intelligence - and I loved watching them navigate through the dangers.

I did NOT see the huge twist coming!!
I have SOO many questions!! While this ends with the HEA for this couple, there's a big question mark in the last sentence, and I cannot wait for more.

Please read this series in order for the best experience.

Micah had been so stoic, inflexible and standoffish. It was great to see his change in this book. Both hero/heroine had tragic backstories invoking their childhoods. I LOVE how Affie’s mind worked. The internal monologue and external sass was entertaining…and it kept Micah on his toes. Her secret was a surprise.

I LOVE this series. I will be sad when it ends, but looking forward to Nix’s story. The cliffhanger…not nice!

Absolutely marvelous. Just as wonderful and exciting as the first 13 books. Had to wait a while for it to show up on Kindle Unlimited but worth the wait. Looking forward to Nix next June.

I did enjoy this one. I wasn’t sold on Affie’s character, but she did win me over throughout the book. I did appreciate how this book advanced the over arching storyline quite significantly. My only complaint is how long the stories take to come out. I’m looking forward to the next book!
