〰️ Arranged marriage through a matchmaking agency
〰️ They had a ONS at the beginning, unaware that they were about to marry each other. They only met for the first time on their wedding day.
〰️ They have a trial period of 90 days.
〰️ No V. The FMC (Riley, 24) said she fooled around before, but it's been years since her last action. She was engaged to someone before, but the man found out she wasn't a virgin, so he beat her.
〰️ The MMC (Cruz, 31) was your usual mafia man who had been with many women. 😑 Surprising? Not really, but it still irks me. Tbf, it wasn't thrown in the reader's face. It was only mentioned a few times here and there.
〰️ But when they hooked up at the very beginning (9%). In his POV, he said, "She's not like most of the women I've fucked here" (club or his office?? not sure). Then when she asked him if that's his usual play, picking up a girl and fucking her over his desk, he immediately said, "I don't fuck anyone in here." And I was like, dude, you just said you slept with women here. So, which is it, then? Are you lying or are you lying? 🙄
〰️ There's a OW wannabe who caused drama. I don't think the MMC got involved with her, but she's relentless and has been pursuing him for the last three years. She caused a whole lot of problems up until the end.
〰️ This story is mafia-lite and focuses more on the romance and comedy aspects.
〰️ I got the "he fell first and hard" vibe here, and for someone who's part of an organized crime group, he sure as heck does not come off as scary. But I guess that was the intention—to make him look like a cinnamon roll.
〰️ The FMC was okay. She didn't let anyone walk all over her (at least the parts that I read). I like the passive aggressiveness she possesses, especially when dealing with the OW. She's probably used to this kind of woman, and I liked that she could care less about her.
〰️ The writing style isn't for me, but I can see why this would appeal to other readers. The author made it look like the MCs were speaking to the readers in some chapters, so if that's a reader jam, then I think they would enjoy this storytelling.

This book was delicious chaos — I laughed, I swooned, and I may have fanned myself once or twice. 🤭
Cruz? He’s a walking cinnamon roll in a three-piece suit with a gun — sweet, loyal, and just dangerous enough to make you want to sin. One night is all it takes for him to decide Riley is his forever, and he’ll happily burn the world down to keep her.
Their chemistry is electric, their banter is pure delight, and Cruz falls hard without ever letting go. Riley’s nickname “Kitten” wasn’t for me, but it didn’t take away from the fun. The story is packed with lovable chaos, and unforgettable side characters like Lexi and a wild orange cat. 🐈

I dont think I’ve ever giggled out loud as much while reading a mafia romance. The One Night Match is a dark mafia romance with an arranged marriage through a matching making service for mafia families. This was such a unique twist on the arranged marriage trope. Riley is the first in her family to get matched and they’re using her as a test case. Cruz needs a wife to help solidify his power. They both find themselves out for a drink the night before their wedding. Riley wants one last night of freedom before marrying a stranger and ends up dancing with the hottest man she’s ever seen. Neither of them know who each other are. Cruz is confused by his feelings seeing his kitten leave, but imagine his surprise to see her again when Riley lifts her veil at the altar. Cruz knows without a doubt that he’s keeping her and will do everything he can to show her they are a good match. Riley on the other hand starts to plan Operation Divorce to get him to evoke the 90 day clause of the contract and she can go back to her life. Sher wants nothing to do with the mafia world. Cruz is the epitome of a morally grey gold retriever, shocking Riley with how different he is compared to the men she grew up around. Hilarity ensues when she befriends his cat and buys the ugliest furniture known to man. Then Cruz gets rid of all the other beds forcing her to sleep in his room. Riley is put in danger because Cruz is searching for the rats in his business. The spice starts off quickly but then simmers after they’re married. After a few rounds, Riley ask the man to dance where things get heated. They decide to move their party to a more private setting where that heat can combust. One night, no names, no phone numbers.
Imagine their surprise when Riley’s veil is lifted at the altar and she’s staring at the man from the night before. That “one night stand” just turned into a marriage.
Cruz is all in from the beginning. Riley, not so much.
She wants Cruz to agree to end the marriage at 90 day mark (clause in the contract). Cruz is adamant the she’s his forever. He even tattoos her name in a place that is NSFG (not safe for Goodreads). It’s a battle to the finish.
The book is angsty, funny, definitely has drama, and it’s spicy. It ends with an HEA. No 3rd act breakup.
Can’t forget to mention Mr Whiskers (formerly known as arsehole). He’s Cruz’s demon cat that immediately falls in love with Riley. He totally has his own vibe.

ARC Review -
🌶🌶🌶
This is a delightful dark rom-com that literally had me laughing out loud! I loved the subtle references to How to Lose a Guy in 10 days, touched my millennial heart!
After one night with Riley, and before he knows she has been matched to be his wife, Cruz falls hard. Therefore, seeing her as his bride changes his whole perspective on the arranged marriage idea. Cruz is not your typical dark romance MMC, he is a morally grey golden retriever. He is nice to Riley and all those closest to him, but when it is time to be the mafia boss he is more on the morally grey side.
Although, this was a bit of an insta love situation (at least for Cruz) which I usually dislike, I felt this trope was nicely done, and I felt connected to the characters and their relationship, which i usually dont with other insta love stories.
The story is not overly complex, which I enjoyed it was easy to follow and had a decent storyline. The internal commentary of the MCs was fun, totally fit the whole romcom vibe. Also can we talk about the orange cat and Cruz's sister Lexi? Both were hilarious, and such fun side characters.
One of the few complaints is I did not like Riley's nickname Kitten, I dont know what is but i just wasnt vibing with it lol. Also, I was wanting a bit more from the plot twist at the end. I just felt it was a bit anticlimactic, but it did not take away from my overall experience.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and am ready for the next one! If you love a good spicy rom-com, 2000s rom-coms , and dark romances with a golden retriever MMC, this book is definitely for you!

This was unexpected because of the title. There was nothing dark about this story and it was very light on the mafia. He was a cinnamon roll. A cinnamon roll that could kill you but still. It was definitely more of a rom-com.

The One Night Match is the first book in a series of interconnected standalones and it’s such a great mix of dark romance and romantic comedy genres, I had so much fun reading it and loved Riley and Cruz’s story!
Riley has always been different from her sisters and when her family decides to try the new matchmaker service, Riley is chosen to be the first to get married to the mafia man chosen by it. In her rebellion, one day before the wedding she decides to have a one night stand with a handsome man she met in a bar and no one is more surprised than her to see the same man from that night at the altar. Despite wanting to get out of the mafia life, Cruz is completely different from what she expected and their instant connection and growing feelings makes ending this marriage much harder than she thought.
I absolutely loved the idea for this book, I mean, a matchmaker for mafia and having a one night stand with her future husband sounded so good and the author didn’t disappoint, I had so much fun from the first to the last page. Cruz was incredible, despite being in a mafia and morally grey, he was a golden retriever to his family and I loved how he agreed to everything and was willing to do anything to keep Riley at his side, despite not wanting a wife at all in the beginning. Riley was also amazing, I loved her antics while trying to end their marriage and how she was exactly what Cruz needed, I absolutely loved these two, they made such a great couple and made me swoon and laugh many times, I loved their story and hope to see them again. I also liked Lexi, she was a perfect sister in law and I loved how she instantly took Riley’s side and was helping her and I also liked Colton, Cruz’s best friend, I can’t wait for his and Lexi’s book, especially after that little sneak peak in the epilogue!

This book was a nice easy read while i am stuck in bed. The idea of this book, an arranged marriage set up by a matchmaking service for the mafia, is something truly unique.
A dark mafia rom-com with the perfect mix of both.
I am fully in love with golden retriever mafia boss Cruz. The way he is completely ruthless in his job but undeniably smitten with Riley and will do anything for the people he loves?! Perfect. He is so different to all other mafia boss types I’ve read in that I found myself saying “awwwww how cute” way too much 🤣
Riley is the sweetest FMC and the way her anxiety was written, so accurate it hurt.
“Asshole” the cat reminded me way too much of my own lil idiot. I love an animal side character and didn’t expect one in a mafia book.
I loved the chaos of this book and laughed so hard the whole way through. The second half really ramps up the drama but I don’t want to spoil anything!!! I genuinely read this book in half a day I didn’t want to put it down!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I know, I often will gush over a book and say “ohmygoshhh! That was everything!” – yet, “The One Night Match” literally was EVERYTHING! 😍 A ruthless Mafia boss, who's head over heels, down bad for his wife, so much so he's literally a ‘tattooed golden retriever’ (thank you, Taylor Swift #IYKYK), but can I just say I freaking LOVED Cruz!! Montana Fyre's Mafia romances have always been a favourite of mine, I was over the moon when I found out she was writing a dark romance rom-com! Equally over the moon when I received an ARC courtesy of @literallyyourspr - and I couldn't resist diving in right away!! Talk about love at first page, i mean, I instantly loved Riley, you can't help but feel for her, someone who's had her life plotted out for them without a say, and her first interaction with Cruz was freaking DIVINE! Their chemistry and dynamic was literally giving me life throughout, I love that he fell hard, first, and she tried to reason that, well - I'm not going to go into it too much, because it would be so much fun going in blindly! I devoured this book, I could not put it down, and I'm so excited that it is a series, the concept of Mafia Matchmaker is so fun, and THAT ENDING!! It definitely was a cheeky tease as to what's to come, and I'm here for it!!
Also. Mr Whiskers, a deviate cat, though I of course would only side with Riley and say that there was nothing “asshole” about him!! But honestly, i loved the cheeky kitty so much!! A dark mafia romcom!!!! Yes you read that right! It was spicy, it was dangerous and it had me laughing out loud. Riley grew up in the mafia life, but she wanted no part of it. She just wants her own independence, but her parents have signed her up for the Mafia Matchmaking service. Cruz is cold hearted, just as everyone expects and known for unaliving his father. He has no desire for a wife, but signs up for the matchmaking service to secure his position. One wild whim of a night led a one night stand of Riley and Cruz together. And now, the matchmaking service has her walking down the aisle towards him. Watch this cold and ruthless mafia boss go soft for his wife. And laugh throughout the entire book while you do. Their chemistry is off the charts and hot.

Who would’ve ever thought to write a dark mafia rom-com? Oh wait…Montana Frye did! Cruz is such a golden retriever when he didn’t have to wear his mask of a mafia don. Riley was always the forgotten middle child who didn’t want anything to do with the mafia life until Cruz showed her how good it could be. A random night that was supposed to be a one night stand, it’s like the Mafia Matchmaker had other plans for these two! The One Night Match brought the spice from the beginning, will definitely make you laugh, and keep you in suspense!

A fun romp, but nothing particularly either dark or rom-com about it. There were few if any elements of BDSM, and I'd be pressed to find the orgasm denial except mentioned in passing. Overall the characters were well done and had some chemistry, I enjoyed following their story. Some parts were repetitive though

ARC Review of The One Night Match Book 1 in the Mafia Matchmaker Series by Montana Fyre. This is a 5 star read for me I absolutely loved this book I am obsessed with Mafia Romances and this one was so good it was angsty, suspenseful, and had violence but was also so funny, sweet, and spicy. This is a Mafia, arranged marriage, age gap, one night stand, spicy, dark romantic comedy. This is Cruz and Riley's story. Cruz De Luca is 31 and the head of the Seattle Mafia after killing his father and now he needs a wife. Riley is 24 and is the daughter of an underboss for the Perez Mafia family. Riley wants nothing to do with the Mafia but doesn’t have a choice now that her and Cruz were matched together by the Mafia Matchmaker service for an arranged marriage. The night before their wedding Riley and Cruz meet each other at a club he owns but since they didn’t exchange names and they both didn’t read the profiles from Matchmaker they have no idea who they are to each other they just think they are strangers. They have a one night stand and Riley runs off expecting to never see him again and to be stuck in loveless marriage except when she walks down the aisle her mystery man is standing at the end of it as her husband to be. Cruz is just as shocked but also happy because he fell hard and fast for Riley. Cruz wasn’t expecting to like his wife he thought she was going to be a vapid Mafia princess but Riley is nothing like that she’s kind, funny and smart and he cant help but be drawn to her and like her. There’s a clause in their marriage saying they can walk away from each other and divorce after ninety days if they both agree, but now that Cruz has Riley he’s definitely not letting her go. Now he just has to convince her how good their marriage can be and how right they are for each other. I love the contradictions between hard and soft with Cruz I love how he’s a tough scary Mafia boss to everyone else but to his, Mom, sister, and Riley hers with sweet, caring, affectionate, golden retriever type mmc. I love how he cares for Riley the second he sees her at the alter and keeps her panic attacks at bay and makes sure she’s OK. I also love his cat lovingly named asshole lol the cats so mean to him but loves her. I love Riley and Cruz together, watching them get to know each other, learn about each other, and fall in love while already being married. If you like dark Mafia Romance with mux of comedy and sweetness I highly recommend this book.

Now she just has to find a way to convince him to invoke the 90 day clause to dissolve their marriage. But Cruz isn’t your typical Mafia boss & although falling for him might destroy her, she might not have a say in the matter.
After removing his father & becoming head of the family, Cruz De Luca is in need of a wife. Expecting a bratty Mafia princess, he ends up with a prefect match. If How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was reimagined as a Mafia rom-com, it would look exactly like The One Night Match. Riley does everything she can to convince Cruz to invoke the 90-day clause and end their marriage. However, instead of scaring him off, every antic only makes him fall harder. And honestly? Watching this ruthless Mafia boss turn into a lovesick, golden-retriever husband was the sweetest surprise.
Cruz completely stole my heart. He’s dangerous and powerful when it comes to protecting what’s his, but with Riley, he’s soft, attentive, and absolutely smitten. Riley herself is adorable, with her sass and determination to escape the mafia life, even as her heart betrays her. Together, their chemistry is electric, hilarious, and swoony all at once.
The supporting cast was just as fun: Lexi instantly became a favorite (I’m already dying for her and Colten’s book after that epilogue tease!), and Mr. Whiskers, aka “Asshole” the cat, deserves his own spinoff. His scenes with Cruz had me laughing out loud.
Montana Fyre nailed the balance between mafia suspense, secrets, betrayal and danger, and laugh-out-loud romantic comedy. The pace is quick, the writing engaging, and the story addictive from start to finish.

this book is so beautiful and may be the sweetest and funniest mafia romance I’ve ever read. I laughed a lot, cried a little bit, and definitely enjoyed myself to the max. I would so reread this time after time just for some morally grey mafia man energy and a good laugh. Honestly mafia matchmaker is the most genius idea ever! We got a really intense start, with the one night stand. I found it emotional yet amusing at the same time. Because it’s kind of like dramatic irony, we know they’re matched to each other, but both of them think it’s their last night as single people yet they found the perfect person for them. There’s so much tension after their marriage, and she’s so stubborn but he’s determined to break down her walls. Of course, it’s a mafia romance so there’s some violence and thrilling plot twists that lead up to a sweet happy ending. Ok three reasons why I love Cruz De Luca, he cannot say no to her ever! She buys the most hideous furniture and adopts a dog (although he hates pets) as a ploy to get him annoyed and he just smiles. He is literally the greenest flag ever and so so whipped. Second, man is the KING of pining, she was very sceptical about the arranged marriage but this man was so dedicated. He has major "you're mine” and “my wife” energy and you know I love a good tattoo of her name… in you know where. The third and best thing about a mafia husband is that he will gift you the cut off hands of the people who hurt you. It’s such an underrated trope! Also the cat is adorable, I love how the cat plays such a cute role! I loved this and give it a 4.5/5

Riley is a good female character, as she points out she isn’t your typical Mafia princess, she has fire, bite and her own opinions 😅 although she often wears a mask and it’s what underneath the mask that has Cruz captivated! Omg this book gave me Lights Out vibes in the best way! Cruz and his cat Asshole (yes that's what he named the cat, but don't worry, Riley renamed him Mr. Whiskers..much better 😂) remind me of Josh and Fred...if Fred acted like an asshole and not a needy child 🤣. This book delivered on the mafia and rom-com for sure! Cruz is a ruthless mafia don who is only sweet to his wife, while Riley is an independent mafia princess who wants nothing to do with the lifestyle she was born into at all. The mafia matchmaker was right with these two, even if these two found the sexual chemistry through a one night stand and not knowing they were each other's arranged partner. It does have some dark themes so check your triggers. But if you want a man who gifts you hands of those who hurt you so you can have a collection, Cruz De Luca is your man! And Riley is so relateable with her need for independence from the mafia and her anxiety, girl we get it that lifestyle will make anyone anxious 😅. The story begins with Riley Callahan walking toward the altar. Her parents signed her up for the Mafia Matchmaker, and she’s paired with Cruz De Luca, Seattle’s new mafia boss. Riley has always wanted to leave behind her life as a mafia princess, but fate ties her tighter to it.
The night before her wedding, Riley spends her last night of freedom with a stranger at a nightclub. The next morning, she learns that the stranger is her future husband. This book delivers a mix of mafia power struggles, forced marriage, and a romance that builds through tension and danger. I loved how Cruz was soft for Riley in ways no one else got to see. The ending left me ready for the next book, Colten and Lexi’s story.

This book was super cute and I really enjoyed it! I enjoyed Riley and how deeply she wanted her own freedom and autonomy! Plus I still really enjoyed how she was able to open herself up to a new version of life that wasn't an option for her before! The way that she was able to use the training she grew up, and blended it with her own needs, wants, and genuine personality was absolutely wonderful to watch! And the way that Cruz was all in from the get go, despite Riley's reservations, was so heartwarming! I loved how he truly didn't want Riley to mold or change to fit the expectations of the world they were in, and encouraged her to be herself! I loved how he was so desperate for her safety, and so willingly to drop everything to run to her and ensure that she was completely fine and/or healed! These two were so sweet and I just loved watching them come together! I would say that the story was more on the suspenseful side of dark, but it was really well done! And the side cast of characters were amazing!! I cannot wait for Colt and Lexi's story!! Overall, this was a really fun, quick read!! 4 stars; 3.5 chili peppers

I absolutely loved this one!
From the jump, I was sucked in. One last night of -freedom- before an arranged marriage? Makes sense to me!
The concept of a match maker for mafia arranged marriages? Makes me giggle just thinking about it.
Riley not wanting to be a part of the crime world but ending up with a golden retriever crime boss is excellent. Just what she needed.
Cruz is so swoony! The fact that he handled what he needed to take care of his sister and mother but still had such a sweet caring side for the people close to him made him even better! Him not trying to force a family out of Riley was also super sexy to me!
This being light and funny was perfect! It was my first Montana Fyre novel and I cannot wait to tap into that back list!
The way this one ended has me pacing and biting my nails waiting on the next one!
Colton is an awesome best friend and I love the nerdy hacker vibe!
Lexi is funny! She really seems to be unapologetically her!

Wow! What a unique take on matchmaking in the mafia world. I absolutely loved this book. Cruz was the perfect blend of crazy-obsessed and golden retriever energy—and don’t even get me started on his cat, Asshole 😆.
Riley just wanted to escape the mafia life, but instead, she found her perfect match in a mafia boss. Their dynamic was perfection. The antics Riley pulled to try and scare Cruz away had me cracking up, while the twists and turns kept me glued to the pages.
This story had so many layers that made it stand out from the typical mafia romance. It was funny, steamy, suspenseful, and heart-melting all at once. I’m beyond excited to continue with this series!

Look, I had a ball of a time reading this! Is mafia rom-com my new favorite thing? It honestly might be.
The One Night Match started with a bang and kept me entertained the whole way through. I thought this was a fun twist on an arranged marriage - Mafia Matchmaker system that pairs people together. It was very cute and still gives you your mafia scenes while also being very light!
I definitely will be on the lookout for Book 2 ans honestly, as my first introduction to Montana Fyre, I'll be looking into more books too!
