If you don't want spoilers { ie to know just how stupid this shit is } then don't read this review!

Book one was bad, but my sweet baby unicorn, this was atrocious!!!!!!!! Nothing about the plot and character actions make a lick of damn sense. The characters are dumb as dirt, unlikable, and just plain boring.

She's been run off with threats of her family's demise. She stays gone 6 months or so. She's pregnant ... Shocker, I know:/ She comes home for her sister to give birth and Finn's gpaw's funeral. Okay, no that wouldn't cause Finn's dad to get mad and follow through with his threats. Nothing's changed, there's no sudden epiphany, no thought process, or words exchanged...It's just she don't give a shit anymore and decides upon seeing Finn she wants him, but oops... Kara is pregnant, too! Shocker, I know:/

Is she mad about this? Well, yes, at Kara. She sprawls out on the funeral home bathroom floor and professes her love and want for him; basically a choose me! He doesn't, of course.

Is he mad at her for running? Yes, apparently mad enough to not really give two shits of concern that the supposed "love of his life" shows up pregnant. Is he mad at his dad for threatening her? Apparently not since he and daddy-o sit together cuddled up with Kara at the funeral. Duchebag!

Eventually, he sneaks into Tess's bedroom window. She alternates between taking verbal jabs at him for f'ing Kara, thinking this will be a goodbye screw, and professing her undying love and apologies. "Stop worrying, Tessa and just be with me right now." They screw in which he bites her hard enough to draw blood.. nice. She apologizes for the hundredth time for leaving, and begs him to choose her. They sleep, screw again, and she begs him yet again to choose her. He promptly leaves and goes off to Kara. Dear, dumbass Finn, ^this is called choosing Kara!

"I haven't been to one of her appointments yet. I offered but she always turned me down" HELLfingO!! Ding, ding!!! The bitch is like glue to his ass, taking any and every opportunity to corral and parade his ass like a prized bull and she don't want you to go to her OB appointments to show off her fiancé ... Okay, did all these fr's fall off a turnip truck yesterday, or what? Five months and this just now strikes your ass as odd?!?

And, my gawd, the not so subtle "she doesn't look big enough" and "she doesn't pee enough" was just damn ridiculous; those subjects would've never came up in the context of normal conversation & the bitch is pregnant, meaning those comments didn't even make sense. Absurd! Of course, she just breaks down and admits it's not his baby. Unhuh, yeah, anyone works that hard for a lie is just gonna breakdown and spew out: 'hey, not your baby. It's your dad's baby. Btw we didn't even have sex that one time you thought we did because you were too drunk' IN FRONT OF HER OWN FAMILY, too. Cue harps that he didn't actually screw her and can now run back to Tess. Whipppppie!

Was this supposed to be a love story?

This shit isn't romantic. I don't feel an ounce of love. She runs, rightfully so. He doesn't track her down, but the sister has contact with her and the daddy seems to be able to track her down to send her "reminders."

She comes back and begs someone that f'd the chick that's made his girl miserable the entire time they were together, and he stays with that chick. Well, shit obligation lies with both pregnancies... So he chooses the obligation of the one he doesn't love; supposedly can't stand; and that also abandoned him once, but for selfish reasons vs to protect others. The only reason this story works out is because he finds out Kara isn't carrying his baby, but rather his Dad's bahaha .. Sorry, I just couldn't help but laugh.

Look I can't buy the whole soulmate shit if the male MC CHOOSES to be daddy in the situation where he doesn't love the girl and turns his back on the girl he loves and their baby because he's pissed at HER because his dad threatened her. And, he ONLY makes the right choice when all the other pieces conveniently moot themselves. Nope, just nothing to swoon over here!

People are constantly laughing at Tess and he stands by 98% of the time saying nothing, doing nothing. Kara is constantly "baby" this or that and pawing him. Again, he says nothing, does nothing. He's a stupid Mf!

How stupid? Real stupid!

Tess says to Finn: "Go back to your fiancé."

Finn says: ....... Nothing.

Next chapter...

Kara's grandma: "How are the wedding plans going?"

Finn: " What wedding? "I don't mean to be rude but I never proposed to Kara."

Again ^ stupid Mf! You didn't think that Tess calling Kara your fiancé might be something to refute?!?

Want to know just how bad this book is?

I stopped reading at my very favorite part of all books, the epilogue. Yep, for the first time ever, I don't want to hear a HEA. I don't want to read some bs fairytale with rainbows and unicorns out of this hot mess of a disaster book.

"I'm just the heartless girl who ran. Only if everyone knew the whole story and the real villians of this tale."

Finn and Tess, oh how I've missed you two!
This was an awesome conclusion for their story. It's even more emotional than Walk Me Down, but beautiful at the same time.

I love the twists and turns that it takes, and when secrets are revealed...bam! My jaw dropped.

I hope everyone enjoys this story as much as I did! It was truly a wonderful tale of how powerful love is, and that it always prevails.

Another great story HJ!!

"The one thing I know is that I'll take Finn in this moment for all those countless hours I willed him to me over the past six months. I'd give anything to him if he'd just stay with me."

Stunned beyond belief. We begged, harassed and HJ Bellus delivered a fucking knock out blow. Finn and Tess conclusion is more gut wrenching to the epilogue that left us asking WTF.

Great job chick now my greedy self want more.

✮✮✮✮4.5 LOVING STARS✮✮✮✮

I read WALK ME DOWN and as soon as I finished it, I was impatiently waiting for WALK BESIDE ME. As soon as it was LIVE, I had to 1click it and dived into it, without hesitations. The story continues for Finn and Tessa's turmoil life. I hated that Tessa walked out on Finn when everything was all peachy for both of them. Tessa had her reasons why she did what she did. But for some people they see her as a coward for walking away from the love of your life.

Tessa regrets the choices she made and will forever hate herself if she doesn't get Finn back in her life. She came back to her hometown for her niece to be, her sister Tommie and Will's baby. Didn't expect to see what she saw. Rumors that Kara, the girl who did nothing but made fun of Tessa is with Finn. She is pregnant with Finn's baby. Seems to me that Finn has already moved on. She couldn't really blame him for moving on since she was the one who up and left. He deserves to be happy and she deserved to be miserable.

Finn will do everything in his power to have Tessa back. Even though Kara is pregnant with his baby, she feels nothing for her. It was one drunken night and that's all it took for Kara to get pregnant with Finn's baby. Someone is keeping a secret and it's bound to come out. And when it does, will Tessa and Finn get to have their happily ever after or will the secret drive them apart? You'll have to read WALK ME DOWN to read WALK BESIDE ME to find out. This was an awesome read. A very realistic type of love story.

Okay, I had all of the same complaints with this one as with the previous book in the series AND this one was missing most of the humor I enjoyed in the last one :( The writing is still rather awkward and many of the characters' reactions and interactions didn’t really ring true as to how real people would behave. I also thought a lot of the plot developments were EXTREMELY predictable. And some aspects of the story made NO sense, like . Finn irritated me again (), as well as Tess (). They had just awful communication--yet again!!

This is another very quick read, though, and I was pleased to get some closure regarding Tess and Finn. But, I didn’t like that we never got any closure with :(

This book has the same editing issues as the first one, as well as lots of vulgar language again :( The sexual content is still fairly minimal and mostly fade-to-black.

I was so excited to start reading this morning that I forgot to move this to "currently reading.". Oh well.
Tess and Finn .....**sigh**. I just love them as a couple.
For all of the shock value in this book (which definitely had my jaw dropping) I found it to be short. Just my personal opinion that there just wasn't enough of Tess and Finn togetherness as I would have loved to read! But wow! Kara....
need I say more. Whew...that girl is just crazy desperate!
This was a well written ending to Tess and Finn!

The perfect resolution to Finn and Tess' story:)

So incredibly happy that we finally got our hands on this book! After reading Walk Me Down I was rabid. I love cliffhangers, but I also can't want for the conclusion!
In this book we get to pick up about 6 months after Tess left town. What I love about Walk Beside Me is that while we eventually get our HEA, there is still a really emotional and intense struggle to get to that point. There is deception, anger and defeat but the reader is still hopeful.
I loved this book:) absolutely recommend!

loved it!!!

Loved the conclusion to Finn and Tessa's HEA. Kara and Finns dad were twisted and creepy...I'm still not sure what the gain was for Finn and Kara to be together. But I also loved Tessa and Tommies relationship with one another. It's rare that a sibling relationship is as interesting and the male/female leads in the book.

Great Conclusion!!

Quick read but a great conclusion to Tessa & Finn's story in the Walk Series!! Walk Beside Me had a great storyline with lots of twists and turns that kept me hooked from beginning to end. The characters once again had depth and emotion. Would definitely recommend!!

Aww. I hate writing 1 star reviews. I really loved Love, Ally and Forget Me, Sloane and was looking forward for more HJB books but this one is a downer.

Spoilers (i think?) ahead.

I have several issues with the story but the main being Finn is a spineless coward. I don't understand how Tommie (h's sister) could actually say she believed the H when he said he CHOSE the h.

Finn didn't choose her. He chose Kara over and over and over and over and over again. Did I say over and over? Yeah, ypu get the jist of it.

He never CHOSE Tessa.
He never FOUGHT for Tessa.
He never even bothered with THEIR baby.
Hell, Tessa wasn't even an OPTION for him.

Not until he found out the shitty truth about Kara. And even then, Tessa was still just an after thought. The "Oh, this one did not work so why not just go with the other".

See, that's not choosing. That's simply convenient.

This is a really sad review because H.J. BELLUS is fast becoming one of my faves but.. *sigh*. So disappointing. 😞

I'll try a few more of HJB's books and hopefully they're not as disappointing as this one. :)

After Tessa return to town, from being left for six long months and not taking Finns calls or texts after she first left. She came back for Finns granddaddy's Funeral and the birth of her sister Tommie's first baby. But what everybody found out after Tessa was that Finn's father is the reason Tessa left in the first place. He had threatened to ruin her sister and her husband practices and bankrupt them. Being the person that Tessa was she couldn't let that happen. So she left. She's 7months pregnant and in shock that Finn is with his long time friend and ex-girlfriend Kara. But to top it off Kara is also pregnant, with supposedly Finn's child. After the back and forth of everything it all came out on Christmas Day that Kara and Finn's father had slept together to trick Finn in being with Kara. What a holy fuck it was. Talking about a mind fuck this was. I was 😲 shocked. But it ended up that Tessa and Finn ending up being together and having twin boys. This 2 book short story is well worth the read. Sooooooo! Happy I did. Great books HJ Bellus. 😃

Tessa is back in town and the first thing she sees is Finn with a pregnant Kara. Even though she is devastated she puts on her best face and moves forward.
I wasn't sure which was Finn was going. One minute he is with Tess and making love to her and then he leaves her to go off with Kara.
He can't stand her but he is so upset with Tess that he keeps pushing her away.
When a major secret is revealed all is made clear and they can finally move on with their lives.
This book had quite a few mistakes but luckily didn't take away from the story.

Quick read

This was a bit of a let down. Both book 1 and 2 are super quick reads and do give you angst, love, comedy and just about every emotion, but unfortunately this book seems to be in a hurry to end and could have been a lot better if the last 2 chapters were a bit more developed and thought out. I was able to figure out most of the book by the 3rd chapter.
If you are looking for a quick read then this series is fine. There isn't anything wrong with it, it's just not one of my favs.

When you have to fight that hard for a man who would never do the same for you, it’s time to cut your losses and leave. Move on.

This isn’t the first book from this author I’ve read, but it’s certainly my last. She loves to write celibate heroines teamed up with heroes who have no problem moving on. This makes no sense to me. At all. And don’t even get me started on the weak heroes that just aren’t worth it. This author is most definitely not for me.

Time for me to move on, too.

Walk Beside Me
Walk, #2

-- From the Cover --
When Tess was forced to leave town, she vowed never to return. That meant no Finn and no Finn meant a life filled with heartache. It wasn’t her choice, but what in her life has been? Tess was never one to believe in fairytales while growing up, and her past has only confirmed her skepticism.

This is Tess and Finn's ending...but will it be a happy one? Will Tess finally believe fairytales exist?

-- My Thoughts --
Novella, under 100 pages.
It's been six months since Finn's father ran Tess out of town. Now, seven months pregnant, she's returned to town with only two goals: attend granddaddy's funeral and see her neice or nephew be born. Then she plans to leave town again before Finn's father can act upon the threats he'd made against her loved ones. But things are not that simple. The closing scene of WALK ME DOWN overlaps with the opening scene of WALK BESIDE ME, providing a seamless continuance of the story. The characters are the same as before, only several circumstances have shifted or altered. Dialogue is believable, interaction is natural. HJ Bellus writes in a style that flows extremely smooth, making the pages fly by like nothing. It's a very pleasurable experience. The plot is pretty good, for being so short. While it has plenty of dynamics to carry it, it lacks the fullness of a full-length novel. Several aspects of the conflicting elements were predictable, but it wasn't until moments before the reveal that I knew what was going to happen (My Opinion: Blech! LOL)! This finale novella closes Finn's and Tessa's story off solidly. I enjoyed this 2-piece set rather well.

1 star.

This was a really bad sequel. The first book was bad and keeping with tradition so was this one.
This book was plain messy and I couldn't quite understand how two characters (main h and h) were able to stand being around each other. The minor characters also annoyed me. (scarlett especially).

To be honest, I think that EVERYONE should have given Tessa some slack considering what a creep Finns dad was.

Tessa DID sacrifice herself for those she loved (god, she was so dramatic. leaving was unnecessary. Showing them the letter would have been better).

Fin was a jerk. Not caring about his unborn child.

The characters in the book had their priorities wrong and quite frankly a child being raised in this environment would have been horrible.

I didn't like the book and the Characters were immature.
