Not every story ends where you think it does. Hers starts here.
Mischa wasn't just my dance partner. She was like a sister, my shadow, my childhood. And then she was gone. A tragedy ripped her from my life, leaving me with nothing but grief and questions I could never answer. So I buried it all, threw myself into dancing, and never looked back.
Until today.
Because I just saw her. Not in a dream, not in an old photograph but alive and well. Now I can't stop the stream of questions. How is this possible? Where has she been? Why did she let me believe she was dead? And most importantly, why is she lying to me?
Chasing a ghost in a small town wasn't on my 2025 Bingo card, but I can't let it go. I need answers, even if it unravels everything I thought I knew.
Emerson Reign is a Contemporary Dark Romance author living in the Pacific Northwest. She is known for creating intricately wordy, woven tales where the characters always get what they want.
Thanks in no small part to George R.R. Martin, her current book series in in the developmental stages with seven books completed. As the oracle of her family, she is used to telling stories. From a young age she could be found with a diary, journal or notebook in hand for jotting down ideas and poems.
When not writing, Emerson is immersed in family life, reading a book or tending to a needy dachshund while the calm terrier mix sighs heavily.
I don't really know what to say here 🙈 This book is the prequel to the "Season Sisters Saga". It has a lot of backstory. I read it after I read book 1 of the series "Secrets & Lies". It might help make book 1 less confusing at the first 9%, but it might also take away a little bit of anticipation 🙈 I'm not saying it spoils anything, it's just a question of what you prefer. I'm happy I read it after book 1 😁
Let me use this review to tell you a little backstory about me, and how I got to start this series instead of talking about this book, because I just don't want to spoil anything 😎
Book 1 was recently free on Amazon. I loved the cover and everything said "buy me". So I did 😁 I love reading freebies, but without KU, I knew I couldn't read the rest of the series yet.
Then there was a Thread by an author asking about writing a book with a trope ppl don't like. Emerson commented on it because she thinks one of her FMCs will not be liked, but the FMC wants her story the way she wants and not how Emerson wants 🤣 One of Emerson's friends, and an author I love (wink at @chloerouxel.author), commented she doesn't agree with that 😁 This way the algorithm showed me the post and I saw Chloe's answer...
Long story short, I was gifted a review copy of book 2 and an ARC of book 3. And that's how it came that I've now read the series 🤩
The moral of the story... Be active on social media as an author, and you'll be seen 🩷
So this is the prequel to Secrets & Lies. I am already in love with this story and this universe. The book mainly follows the point of view of Pasha. However, we do have other point of views as well. I highly highly recommend that everyone gives this prequel a read. I read it after reading the first and second book and now I kind of wish that I read it before. I was not the biggest fan of Pasha in book one. However, now I love him after seeing the point of view and the heartbreak. I’m also glad we got to see point of views from other characters as well. You can get the book on the authors website and if I have not sold y’all on books one and two, give it a read and just see if you fall in love with this universe like I did.
