Second Chances Are Murder

Rate this book
My name’s Case—Justin Case. Termination Agent for the Tin Can Communications Company. Sounds slick, right? Think again. The job involves more cord-cutting than cocktail parties, more dead weight than promotions—and lately, it’s getting personal.
Telly Phonya, our District Manager, just turned up dead in a locked office. Clocks stopped. Phones fried. And topping the suspect list? Hugh G. Bear—my brother-from-another-mother and the guy who just stepped into Telly’s freshly vacated seat. Coincidence? Maybe. But I don’t trust coincidences. I dissect them.
Good thing I’ve got Notcho Dog—canine confidant, sarcasm specialist, and the real brains behind this two-species operation. With Notcho sniffing out the nonsense and my band of unofficial brothers backing the play, we’re peeling back a case layered in lies, old grudges, and more misdirection than a magician with something to hide.
Second Chances Are Murder is a whip-smart mystery wrapped in dry wit, twisted loyalty, and just enough chaos to keep you guessing. If you're looking for a brozy* blend of noir grit, heart, and hound—look no further.
* like cozy, but with more banter, a little blues, and a dog who probably deserves her own badge.

Come for the Mystery. Stay for Notcho Dog.
The Justin Case mystery series keeps getting better. In Second Chance are Murder, James Terry weaves a mysterious thread through another crazy and chaotic investigation. Case is a great main character, but what makes this book and the series so readable and enjoyable are the cast of supporting and suspicious characters, starting with his sidekick, Notcho Dog. It is funny and fabulous with a wonderful twist at the end. A great read, as always.

The cover of this book demanded that I read it, if only to find out who the woman depicted was? Like other good mystery books, I had to wait until the end for that question to be answered. I had high hopes for this book, especially with the plot starting as a locked-room mystery, and it tied up nicely in the end. If you love a good mystery, I recommend you give it a chance.
