Ideology, Mostly
Most of “Old Man’s Words” is mental.

It contains lots of descriptions and musings about bad advice given or incomplete, even faulty, information I internalized and the major part this knowledge, or lack thereof, played in decisions I made and actions I took as a result.
It also contains a great deal of useful earned knowledge that my certainty of its benefit to someone makes me brave enough to put my life on display here. These lessons learned through experience are what I put before each reader in the hope that what has helped me repair some of the damage I’ve done or endured as a result of bad choices and/or bad info will assist those who read these words to avoid my pitfalls. Or at least dig out from beneath them far sooner than I did.
I’m old, but not ancient by a long shot. However, at this stage of life I’m more likely to supply intel than to lead the charge up any hill.
I have solid, practical knowledge about the college or trade debate, tradesmanship itself, the logic behind some business decisions, and definite fixes and methods of avoidance for some of the missteps and outright screwups in my life.
However, lots of my writings are pure theory. Advice on interpersonal interactions, possible ways to reconcile one’s own experiences with advice one may have received during the formative years. Many of these writings are also philosophically enlightening on some levels. All of it, except for that which is quoted and attributed to folks I believe are the original speakers, covers my own experiences, thoughts, and attempts to make sense of my journey through this world. Hope all of it helps someone, even if it simply just sparks a spirited debate that leads to workable answers for those who read these pages and pick them apart with the most critical viewfinder they can summon.
Loyalty, respect, friendship, romantic relationships, and career choices are all individual choices. The right answer depends upon the person involved. Theory at its most murky.
Making money, saving money, buying cars and houses and stuff are pretty cut and dry. They are commonly occurring, tangible parts of life across the human spectrum. Prices and incomes may vary, but required effort, credit, and resources are usually consistent as percentages go.
