Rob Me Blindly: Spicy, Sapphic Robin Hood Retelling

Rate this book
Betrothed to Prince John of Nottingham and raised in the palace for a life of nobility, Maid Marian never dreamed that what she truly needed out of life was a fiery red-head named Robin with mischief in her eyes and a penchant for thievery. But as her impending nuptials loom closer and closer, Marian can't help but flee to the woods and into the loving arms of Robin despite already being promised to another.

In this Sapphic twist on the traditional fairytale Robin Hood, Marian, Robin, and the Merry Men engage in nail-biting heists, steamy rendezvous under the cover of night, and rebellion against the tyranny of Sheriff Philip Mark - proving once again that if you want something done right, you should leave it to a woman.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was such a fun sapphic Robin Hood retelling. It gave me the “I’m doing this for the people” vibes that I was hoping for, and it’s always wonderful to see a group of women do something that everyone assumed was men (and they’re probably doing it better than the men, let’s be honest).

Watching Marian try to figure out how to get out of her situation is both heartbreaking and empowering. She has seemingly had a predestined path, one that she also wasn’t aware of, and I hate that for her. However, I love that she’s found her own corner of the world, a place and a group of people that can find peace with, and I was rooting for her happy ending with Robin. When pushed against a hard place, she truly found a way to turn into a diamond, doing what she needed to do to survive and have what she wanted.

I really thought I was going to hate Prince John by the end of the novella. I was ready to fully hate him, but his character pleasantly surprised me. It’s clear he’s under a similar pressure to Marian, but I’m glad he doesn’t stand in her way, when it comes down to it.

It wasn't what was advertised to me I feel like. I understand that it was a novella, only slightly longer than 100 pages in a small booklet and large font but I did not expect this book to be about an established relationship first of all. On the back it seems to imply that they fall in love on page, are not already in love.

Secondly I felt like we ended up skipping so much of the fun heisting plans. We are in a limited POV, with the only POB character not being entirely with the Merry Men, but oftentimes it skipped over the heist planning with little more than a handwave.

I'd say it was decently written, a few mistakes here and there, and I'd be interested in reading one of the author's full-length books. Just slightly disappointed that something that sounded like it would be so fun ended up just okay.

Lesbians in the woods, compelling heists, and usurping corrupt systems of power: The perfect recipe to make me fall in love with a story. Rob me Blindly takes you on a whirlwind adventure of chaotic good heroes falling in love and fighting for their happy ending. I can definitely relate to our lovely Marian. I would also fall in love with the hot lady dismantling systems of corruption. Short, sweet, and sexy. I'm obsessed!

A classic fable turned sapphic, with well-written smut scenes. A delightful little appetizer of a story, no notes. So glad I randomly discovered this author at FanExpo SF! Also, the cover and printed edges? Swoon.
