Mayhem Hockey Club #2

Made for Mayhem

Rate this book
One chance to rewrite their story.

On the eve of his retirement from the NHL, Ty Hudson met a woman he never forgot—and lost her just as quickly. One night. Instant sparks. Terrible timing.

Three years later, Ty is back in Linwood, building a life that feels smaller than the one he planned—coaching the Mayhem Hockey Club, tending a rescue farm full of misfits, and loving the eight-year-old next door like she’s his own.

Then Daisy Winslow comes crashing back into his world.

Daisy never expected to return to Linwood heartbroken and grieving, desperate to hold on to the only family she has left. The last thing she’s prepared for is Ty—the man she never truly moved on from—or the way her niece Junie already adores him.

That spark reignites, even as grief makes everything heavier. Daisy is barely holding herself together. Ty is risking his heart—for her, and for the family he never knew he wanted.

But this time, he isn’t walking away.

Made for Mayhem is a second-chance small-town hockey romance featuring single guardian, forced proximity, found family, and all the heart.

Sweetly emotional read. I did relate more to the first book than this one, however it was still a great read. The cast is fantastic. It’s relationship-focused and character-driven with the plot focused on the guardianship of a little girl alongside healing from grief while the two main characters get a second chance at love (they had just a brief one night encounter years prior). There’s laughs, tears, and a slow simmer of chemistry into steamy times. A great HEA with an epilogue several years later that made my heart melt.

Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama. Both seemed to have experience, nothing specific I can recall being discussed on page though. They both thought of each other after their first ships passing in the night style interaction, unsure if either really dated since then though. The H especially was spread pretty thin with all his commitments.

Some tropes/themes:
☆ Second chance, feels like soulmates
☆ Age gap
☆ Former athlete
☆ Single parent vibes - MMC as foster parent, FMC as aunt
☆ Forced proximity
☆ Adorable kid
☆ Lots of precious animal sidekicks
☆ Loud and loving support group
☆ Start of female friendships
☆ MMC is a caretaker
☆ Grief processing
☆ FMC is a little lost
☆ Slow burn
☆ Small town

5 stars.

I love Aimee Vance's books so freaking much! "Made for Mayhem" is another absolute winner in the Mayhem Hockey Club series. It is a second chance, forced proximity, small-town romance with two fantastic main characters who must navigate their reconnection, their recently acquired grief, new parenthood, the legal system, and a whole lot of yearning. Daisy and Ty met randomly one night in Chicago when it was her first day in the city. They spent hours together, talking, getting burgers, playing truth or dare, and going to the beach... they shared a special connection, but once the night ended, they went their separate ways. Still, they never forgot one another. Years later, after the death of her sister, Daisy heads home to Linwood to take care of her niece, Junie, who has been left without a parent. Surprise is not a strong enough word when Daisy finds out Huddy, aka Ty, was her sister's next-door neighbor and has also been put in charge of caring for Junie in the interim while custody is decided definitively by the courts. Junie binds Daisy and Ty together despite their grumpy x sunshine personality differences. Slowly but surely, they begin to set their differences aside in order to care for Junie first and foremost, but their connection is stronger than just that. That day in Chicago together was deeper than they are willing to admit, but the more time they spend together, the deeper their bond becomes. Their banter, chemistry, and collective grieving are absolutely fabulously written. Off the charts good! I laughed, cried, and swooned while reading this. One of the best things Aimee does with her writing is the way she weaves things together effortlessly. Despite this being a hockey romance, it's not all about sports. It blends sports with family drama, romance, and humor with expert precision. I could not stop reading this once I started. Her writing is addicting! I adored seeing Emmy and Beckett from book one, and I am super stoked to see who gets to be in book three! I loved all of the small-town, found-family aspects. I loved the animals, as well as the shenanigans that happen with them on Ty's rescue farm. Junie is an adorably written kid character, not annoying in the slightest, totally believable. Daisy and Ty are such great surrogate parents. They always put Junie first, even when it means putting their own grief and healing on the back burner. I even enjoyed the legal process where Junie was concerned. It felt accurate to the process and never felt like it was diverting attention away from the romance aspect. AND THE SPICE! Oh my god, the spice. So freaking good. Seriously, I loved this one. I seriously cannot wait for the next book!

Thank you to Aimee Vance and House of Hearts for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

4.5🌟, 2🌶️

This one was such a good surprise.

I’m honestly so glad I picked it up because Aimee Vance is a new author for me, and there’s something about her writing that feels easy to sink into while still hitting emotionally.

It leans more into the emotional side of things rather than feeling like a traditional hockey romance, especially with Ty stepping away from the sport early on. That shift really allows the story to focus on grief, healing, and rebuilding a life after loss. Daisy returning home after her sister’s death and stepping in for Junie carries so much weight, and it sets the tone for everything that follows.

The dynamic with Ty adds another layer that just works. Their past connection, the time apart, and the slow, careful way they find their way back to each other felt natural and earned. The slow burn, the banter, and the quiet moments of care really stood out, and Junie brought so much heart to the story. Even the small-town setting and the animals added a comforting, cozy touch without taking away from the heavier themes.

What I appreciated most was how the story handled grief. It never felt rushed or overly dramatic, just honest and messy in a way that made the healing feel real. The found family aspect, the steady support system, and the way love slowly grows around loss made this one stick with me.

A really solid, emotional read that lingers after you finish.

WHY IS THIS BOOK SO DAMN SPECIAL I ALMOST CRIED OMGGGGGG
ty hudson is just... the man. since book one i noticed he was one of a kind, that type of character i would jump on his arms. and this book proved just that: how he doesn't hesitate to help others, how being a foster dad makes him so whole he can't imagine his life without that kid in his life, how intense he is. and seeing grief being described as it was on page, it broke me. it has way too many good sentences on how to deal with it, to know it, to accept it sometimes, how to be with someone dealing with it, and i think that was super powerful. daisy's character was so me in previous years, when everything felt out of control and couldn't seem to find balance nowhere, that felt a burden and didn't want to be helped. and i loved her development, how she earned her place in the Mayhem crew, how she was able to get better a little bit every day... it was so powerful, so beautiful i didn't care about the age gap at all. those two are perfect for each other and idk why are you sleeping on such a perfect book 💜💜
and now i can't wait for the next book, this series just keeps getting better and better, thank you Aimee for writing it!!!

Ummm I think Daisy & Ty had my most favorite meet-cute ever? The dirty dancing almost leap? Truth or dare? Literally obsessed. Having me crying by chapter 5? Already knew this one would do me in.

I read book 1 in preparation for this ARC & loved it! I love a single parent trope but it was executed wonderfully. One of my favorite parts of the book was the relationship between Ty & Junie. I couldn’t wait to see it explored more after Ty revealed Junie’s mom was dying.

Some people love loudly and that’s wonderful but my favorite parts of love are the quiet ones. The acts that wouldn’t mean a lot to anyone else but the one you’re doing it for. That was Ty. That was how he loved Junie & how he ended up loving Daisy.

What you’ll get:

🌼 Grumpy x Sunshine
👨🏻 Single Dad/Guardian
❤️‍🩹 Healing from Grief
🏠 Forced Proximity
🔥 Slow Burn → Scorching
🐓 Farm animal chaos
🏒 Found Family

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Ty and Daisy with a little June bug on the side :)

Review of advanced copy received from author.

This one hit real close to home for me having just lost my mom not even 6 months ago but in a good way. Our FMC is portrayed exactly how I’m feeling and also not feeling and that’s hard to describe in words but Aimee did it.

Daisy sweet young Daisy was adventurous, brave, and soulful. Ty was hardened by life, strong willed, and a bit cynical. I really loved the depth of their devotion from the beginning of our present day. Junie was sad, smart, and strong willed but so important in getting out characters on the same page.

This book was so good I finished it in just 5 hours of straight reading time. I keep finding out things I wasn’t expecting and feeling things that made me crave more(laughing till I choked multiple times). Some of our plot was unique and set it above other books in the sense that you don’t think about real life scenarios( the ones no one talks about anyway) being included in a book as a part of the story but it made it feel that much more real.

Daisy and Junie went through something that unfortunately is a huge part of life and it’s depicted in a tasteful and real way in their story. Ty was the back bone and flood gatekeeper that they both needed to keep them grounded and loved.

I can’t wait to read about Shannon in the next one she’s always so mysterious!!!

Hockey, romance, found family, grief, all the emotional things

Going back to Linwood felt like coming home and being back amongst the Mayhem was just as wonderful as the last time. Ty and Daisy's story was perfect, two opposites meeting in the middle. A gentle, steady warmth mixed with unapologetic chaotic beauty. The charming town vibes, the hockey, the found family and Easter eggs for what's to come... all of it perfect. This book is a bit heavier, dealing with grief is big in this one but it's done so beautifully and realistically. Anyone who's lost someone understands the rollercoaster that is grief. I laughed, I cried and swooned. SO GOOD and I'm always recommending this series to all my friends because it's just so wholesome in the best way. Book 2 did not disappoint.

All the stars. A new favorite from Aimee!!

This book was stunning and heartbreaking and healing and so fun. Literally all the feels. I cried a ridiculous amount. The crying thankfully alternated with giggling and smiling ear to ear… because while it was emotional, it was also a brilliant romcom.

-Small town romance
-Grumpy x sunshine
-Foster dad x aunt
-Second chance with the one that got away
-Forced proximity
-Grief journey
-Caretaking
-Found family
-All the banter
-YEARNING

You can reads this as a standalone, HOWEVER, I recommend starting with book one, Moms of Mayhem. This will give you the full experience of meeting all the characters (there’s a lot of amazing character crossover).

Thank you Aimee for the chance to enjoy an ARC. I’m a lifetime fan of you and your brain and all the stories you come up with.

“You save puppies and grow mustaches? Dangerous combination, Huddy.”

Oh, Aimee!! I didn’t think I could love a book more than Moms of Mayhem, but you blew me away with this one. Made for Mayhem is book 2 of the Mayhem Hockey Club series, one of my favorite series of all time. Thank you so, so much for letting me read an early copy of this perfect angel baby book, and I’m sorry I wasn’t able to post on pub day!

Daisy and Ty are my new favorite Mayhem couple - and the bar was SUPER high with Emmy and Beckett. Daisy’s character is an absolute treat. I saw a lot of myself in her. She experienced a LOT of trauma in such a short amount of time, and her resiliency is my favorite thing about her. And TY. Oh, Ty. He’s just perfect. The grumpy former hockey player turned animal rescue farmer of my dreams.

Aimee packed SO much into this book, in the best way. It all flows so well together. It’s not just a romcom - it’s a story about dealing (and struggling) with grief, a mismatched group of women forming a sisterhood, and a beautiful testament to found family. I cried a LOT of happy and sad tears. Reading this felt cathartic. If you haven’t read any of Aimee’s books, I definitely recommend starting with the Mayhem Hockey Club series.

Aimee Vance is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine ♥️ While I absolutely loved Moms of Mayhem, and getting to know the initial friend group, Made for Mayhem brought all the feels. It makes you giddy and hopeful, breaks your heart and stomps on it a few times and then heals you in the best way possible. From rowdy teammates, to untruly teenage hockey players to adorable farm animals (Piggie Smalls was a favorite), this novel has it all.

You first meet Ty, the main male lead, in book 1 as Emmy's brother and a teammate to Beckett. He gets roped into helping coach the local youth hockey team after retiring from the NHL. This book starts in the past, on the eve of his retirement. On a night full of emotions, he meets Daisy, new to the city and trying to reinvent herself. They connect instantly but know their time together is limited to one night.

Fast forward three years to when Daisy discovers that her sister was sick and passed away leaving her niece without a parent... after driving all night to get to get to her hometown, the last thing Daisy expected was coming face to face with the one that got away. The catch? Ty is currently fostering her niece and is the thing standing between her and full custody.

When I say this book wrecks you in the best way possible, I mean it. I would highly recommend reading book 1 in order to get to know the characters better.

I said before and I will say it again... I can't wait for Mikko's story!!!!

This story is heartbreaking but healing as we navigated grief, family dynamics and life changes.

Ty exudes safety and comfort for everyone in his life

Daisy is the breath of fresh air blowing in the wind.

I loved their meet cute - one night of “not a date” vibes while leaving lasting impressions to be reconnected 3 years later under less than ideal circumstances for everyone involved.

I loved seeing Ty in a father role! He is so good for Junie girl! Daisy’s dynamic with their relationship was perfect - she knew what they each needed and they all built a new normal together.

Junie is a great kid - I loved all her facts and sass!

This is my first book of Aimee so easily read as a standalone for this series but I will definitely be checking out more from her!

Thanks House of Hearts for this ARC copy for my honest review.

Ty Hudson is everything! I loved him in book 1, but this book did it for me! His relationship and love for Junie, the farm, Ty and Daisy’s story all perfection. The found family and the humor is everything you expect from this author but she hurls you into a whirlwind of emotions. Something I did not realize I wanted. Grief is such a tough subject to write about and Aimee executed it flawlessly.

I am so thankful to have received this ARC from Aimee. I think this book is one of my favorites by her so far! I can’t wait for book 3!

3.5⭐️ wowza was I pleasantly surprised with this book!!!! I truly loved it and how pure Ty’s relationship was with Daisy from the beginning and his relationship with Junie. Ty was truly such a good guy from the start and I wish I had more backstory on him, it felt like the part about his parents just went away (might be my fault for not reading book 1) but I wanted more from him.

Thank you House of Hearts for the ARC!!

If Hallmark got into the sports romance business, this book would be it, and I mean that in the best way.

Made for Mayhem is such a cozy, heart-filled read, wrapped up in pure love, healing, and just the right amount of small-town charm. Aimee Vance handled grief beautifully, showing how differently it can look for everyone and I especially appreciated what wasn’t said. (Truly, thank God no one hit us with “she’s in a better place.”)

The side characters brought so much life to the story. The banter, the found-family dynamic, and yes, the farm animals (!!) added the perfect touch of humor. I laughed, I smiled, and I definitely teared up.

And Ty?? The pining was elite. Give me a man who rethinks his entire facial hair routine after one interaction… I’ve seen enough, I’m sold.

Thank you to House of Hearts Lit & Aimee Vance for the gifted ARC and the opportunity to read early. All opinions are my own.

And isn't it just so pretty to think. All along there was some Invisible string Tying you to me?

This was so good!! First, I loved their unique meet-cute. I know exactly how it feels to meet someone and instantly feel an unforgettable connection. Second, Ioved the way grief was handled. We got to see Junie, Ty and Daisy handled it all differently. The letters from Violet made me so emo. Lastly the found family was so heartwarming. Them becoming a foster family was the perfect ending to this story.

This ARC was such an adorable read that got me in all of my feels. I laughed and cried throughout because I could feel what Daisy was going through. Her character had such growth, keeping everything going and helping others, while dealing with grief yourself.
Ty was a favorite from the first book, so I came in already loving his character. He is a strong rock for every person that meets him. So completely unselfish in caring for Junie and providing exactly what she needs and allowing her to feel all of the feels. His and Daisy’s connection was instant and powerful.

ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review

I'd been wanting to read Ty's story since the first book in Mayhem Hockey Club, and I'm so happy to say it was EVERYTHING I hoped for: Ty, Daisy & Junie's love story is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. Aimee Vance tackled painful and complex themes in this book, and I think she did an amazing job, I also loved how it made me feel so much from beginning to end, how it gave me the most beautiful moments with the secondary characters, and how it was one of the sweetest stories I've ever read.

Daisy was an amazing character I wanted to protect from the very first chapter. It broke my heart to learn her family's story, how she didn't want to be a burden to Violet, and how things didn't turn out as she expected when she decided to pursue her dreams. It was even more painful to read about her loosing Violet, especially the way she postpones her grief to fight for Junie becuase It's more than clear that she's heartbroken and completely lost in her life. I think that's why I loved that Emmy was willing to support her from the beginning and that they formed such a beautiful friendship.

Ty was my favorite character from the first book, and reading about him as a main character only made me love him more: it broke my heart to read all the ways his parents made him feel bad and disappointed him, but I loved how it brought him and Emmy so close. It was also beautiful to read how much becoming a coach helped him rediscover his love for life and sports; reading about him loving the kids, supporting Jace, and including Junie on the team was one of the things I enjoyed most about this book, AND I love his friendship with Beckett too.

Daisy & Ty have one of the most interesting and complicated stories I've ever read, but also one of my favorites. I loved that connection they have from the very beginning, how things are about to happen and then fate keeps them going their separate ways, I LOVED the whole mustache thing, the way Ty is ALWAYS there for Daisy when she needs him, even when things are complicated with Junie's custody, I also really liked that, despite the tension and worries both characters experience, they have those moments where their past connection is present and they both allow themselves to smile and take a break. And Junie!!! This little girl is one of the most charming, funny, and touching characters I've ever read. I suffered so much with her after everything she goes through, I loved reading about her with Jace and the guys on the team, and I LOVED the way Ty and Daisy love her and only want what's best for her.

"Meanwhile, my own life resembled a burning dumpster rolling down a hill with a feral raccoon hanging on the side. If it weren't for Diet Coke, cherry candy, and denial, my emotional infrastructure would collapse faster than a house of cards."

Made for Mayhem is book two in Aimee Vance's Mayhem Hockey Club series. It follows retired pro hockey player Ty Hudson as he fosters Junie, a young girl who has recently lost her mother. When Junie's aunt Daisy arrives to assume guardianship, Ty and Daisy are surprised to realize they met years earlier. Custody arrangements and battling grief lead all three to forming a family they never thought they could ever have.

Made for Mayhem is heartbreakingly beautiful. It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster as Daisy and Junie struggle with the loss of Violet, and Ty tries to hold them all together. As you might imagine grief in all of its forms play a major role in this story. Vance masterfully weaves the heartache with moments of love, laughter, and family. I spent much of the story in tears, so I recommend having a box of tissues handy.

Daisy's world is unraveling, and in the midst of her life falling apart she finds herself living with a man she's hasn't been able to forget for three years and taking care of her niece. What she doesn't have time for is her own grief. Daisy's zest for life, for finding the fun is how she knows how to survive. She's the light that Junie and Ty need, but at the expense of herself. Watching her finally break is one of the most emotional moments of the story. You can't help but love Daisy, and it's easy to see why Ty is so smitten.

Ty! My grumpy young Tom Selleck look-a-like with the biggest, squishiest, marshmellowiest heart. The steady heartbeat of the Mayhem family, whose capacity for love and family is never ending. Who needs someone to choose him like he chooses everyone else. I'm tearing up just typing this. This man. Sorry to say, Blazey boy, move on over. Ty is now my top Vance MMC of all time.

Vance always comes through with my favorite trope, found family, and this story is no exception. The family that Daisy, Ty, and Junie build with their menagerie of animals and support of the Mayhem crew is so lovely. The laughs, support, willingness to drop everything to show up when needed makes my heart so happy. Beckett and Ty's banter, the ladies' pilates class, the set-ups for the next books in the series! It's all so good, and makes this story so special.

If you'd like a nice list of things to look forward to in Made for Mayhem
-Grumpy x sunshine
-Foster dad x aunt
-Small town shenanigans
-80s Tom Selleck style 'stache and shorty short shorts
-The one that got away, so much yearning
-Forced proximity
-Caretaking and healing
-Found family
-Banter, banter, and more banter

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Aimee's work, but this story is extra special. It feels special reading it, and it's obvious that Vance put her whole heart into telling Ty, Daisy, and Junie's story. You don't have to read Moms of Mayhem to enjoy this one, but I think it's best to do so. This is an incredible series that I can't stop recommending! Be sure to check out Made for Mayhem starting March 27th. You won't want to miss it!

"You save puppies and grow mustaches? Dangerous combination, Huddy."

"Who better to teach Junie how to dance in the rain?"

"You'll be okay, Piggie...Ty's good at taking care of us."

Thanks to Aimee Vance and House of Hearts for the gifted copy — all opinions are my own.

I loved the first Moms of Mayhem book from Aimee Vance and the second one blew any expectations i had out of the water. I was so excited to read Ty’s story, as i fell in love with his grumpy, stoic self in the first book. But i was unprepared about how much I was going to love him. This book starts following Ty, Emmy’s older brother on the night of his retirement from the NHL. No bells and whistles, no celebrations with championship wins, just a season ending without fanfare and that matches Ty’s parents not showing up for him again. Emmy was stuck with Jace’s competition and only didn’t make it because her parents promised to go. This is how we were introduced to Ty - someone who does everything for everyone, always there but no one showing up for him when he needs it.

Then he meets Daisy - his polar opposite, a ray of sunshine, new to Chicago - her first night and she has no idea who he is. She’s lost, lonely and they both latch on to each other in a weird truth or dare battle on the Chicago streets. It is a night of kismet, where they reveal secrets they wouldn’t tell anyone else, because they know they only have one night. Ty is relocating the next day and Daisy just moved. They share a perfect night where each recognizes the other on some level as their soulmate, but neither pushes forward.

Fast forward 3yrs … we’re now in present day, right around where Book 1 ended. Junie the little girl who was Ty’s shadow and stole our hearts in book 1’s mother Violet died. She’s alone and Ty was with her and in preparation went through the steps to be certified as a foster parent. The same time Daisy gets a call in Chicago where life is terrible but she’s trying to make the best of it. After losing her apartment and job in the span of an hour, she gets a call that her sister Violet passed. Kismet happens again as she races home to her niece Junie and meets with Huddy - Ty Hudson. Both are floored to see each other again. In Violet’s will she directed that both Daisy and Ty have joint custody of Junie, and the court upholds this until Daisy can get her feet under her/house repaired/gets a job.

Ty is terrified he’s not only going to lose the little girl he loves, but also Daisy, the woman he’s thought about for the last 3 years. Daisy is worried she’s going to screw it all up and won’t be enough for Junie - and isn’t deserving of Ty. They meander the summer navigating their new dynamic, grief, and what family looks like. Peppered throughout this summer as Daisy tries to pull everything together are letters left by Violet along the way, predicting Daisy’s behavior and giving that big sister advice she needs to hear, even from beyond.

The moments of Violets letters were gut punches in the best way. I cried so many times in this book - just beautiful demonstration of love, navigating grief, and real true emotions. Ty and Daisy (and Junie) weaved their way into my heart in the best ways.

The cast of characters along the way also led to the found family of the little town, and that you can choose family, and choose your happy even in the darkest of times. The menagerie of farm animals and pets allowed for comic relief needed to break some of the tension during this read. This HEA felt fulfilling and complete. I loved this book and looking forward to the next in the series!

“Ty’s love wasn’t loud. It wasn’t dramatic or overwhelming. It didn’t burn hot and bright like the lightning outside. But he was my lighthouse in the storm, the beacon calling me home.”

I will just say upfront, this book is excellent and easily a contender for one of my favorites this month (and year if I’m being honest). I loved Moms of Mayhem, the first book in the series, but Ty (MMC) and Daisy (FMC)’s story is just so special and I think they may be my new favorite. This is the kind of book that has you smiling, swooning, laughing, and then sobbing in just a few pages. There is a lot of sadness and grief here, but also healing. Ty and Daisy are obviously soulmates from the start, but after a night spent together exploring the city, they go their separate ways and don’t see each other again for three years. They reconnect when Daisy finds out her sister has passed and her niece, Junie, is being cared for by Ty (and he is her sister’s neighbor). Ty takes care everyone around him so it’s no surprise he stepped up when Junie’s mom got sick, but Daisy is shocked that the man who is holding everything together is the man she once wondered if he could be her everything. Their original “ending” wasn’t angsty or dramatic, just a classic “one that got away” situation.

I love that this book doesn’t shy away from the hard. We see Daisy deal with her grief and the waves of emotion as they come. She doesn’t want to feel anything sad so she doesn’t, until she can’t outrun it any longer. Ty is always there to make sure she has a safe space to feel her emotions and that he will never leave her, even when she feels that she is “too much”. His love is gentle and patient, a steady constant that she desperately needs while everything else is falling apart. When the tables turn and he needs someone, she is that person for him. She is the sunshine to his grumpy (he isn’t really all that grumpy anymore but that’s because she’s back in his life), the one who is willing to dance when things get hard and play truth or dare with a stranger. Though things are definitely tense at times with custody hearings and thinking about the future, I love that their relationship never becomes toxic and they meet each other right where they are.

I didn’t just cry when/because of sad scenes, I also cried when things were really beautiful. There is one particular scene (that I won’t spoil) that brings things full circle from the night they met that is just perfection because it proves that Daisy really sees Ty. Watching their family continue to grow and evolve into the future was so heartwarming, and though their story is definitely complete as-is I would 100% read another book with these main characters because I just love them together so much.

Am I maybe a little partial on this one? Yeah. But tears don’t lie and this book had me feeling all the emotions!

I knew this book was going to be a doozy. It was going to tackle grief head on as Daisy and Junie faced the worst possible scenario while Ty battled for them by the sidelines. Aimee found such an incredible balance of it all. Her signature humor came through in all the right moments. The found family was stronger than ever. They had their people to support and I could feel the love pouring off the page. And then she went deep. She didn’t shy away from the tough moments and she let the characters feel all their feelings. We walked with them through some of the hardest moments of their lives, and we got to watch them heal and rebuild. The Winslow girls emerged from the ashes of their life torn apart with Ty right by their sides.

Ty and Junie’s bond captured my heart in Moms of Mayhem. Watching the way he cared so deeply for the little neighbor girl filled me up. Who could possibly be that kind? Ty Hudson. He showed up in every way possible. Talk about actions speaking louder than words. He embodies that in everything he does. They way he was there for Junie and Daisy through it all was amazing. And on top of that, watching him finally do something for himself, loving those girls with all his heart. It was the best thing ever.

Daisy really did just step right into the Mayhem. Her life has fallen apart in every possible way that it can, and she ends up in Linwood to help Junie through the struggle of it all. Little did she know she would have a helping hand in the form of the dream guy she met 3 years before. Watching her help guide Junie through this time while also attempting to heal herself was heartbreaking, but also so special. You are right along for the ride with her through every curve ball grief throws, but luckily Ty is there to help hold her together. Watching them come together through it all was the best. Being exactly what the other needed. Finding that person that sees you better than anyone else. It was true magic during such a dark time.

And this wouldn’t be a Mayhem book without the Mayhem!! All of my favs from Moms of Mayhem made their return to support and brighten up the pages. The girls welcomed Daisy into their group with open arms. Beckett was right there, giving Ty crap, while also being an incredible best friend. And where would those crazy teens be if not supporting the littlest (and probably best) coach! We got some great scenes with the farm animals too! They are all so fun. Except for Cluck Norris. He knows what he did. The menace!

This book is so incredibly special. The depth. The emotion. I watched Aimee grow with every turn of the page. I have not read something like this from her before and frankly I haven’t read anything like this ever. She explored grief without it feeling overwhelming. She included humor without it outshining serious moments. She captured so much love in the pages of this book. It all felt so real. I am in awe!

I cannot wait for the next bit of Mayhem coming our way!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book wrecked me in the best possible way 😭❤️

From the very first chapter, it felt like the characters reached into my chest and squeezed my heart tight. I had so many feelings while reading this. I was on the verge of tears for most of it… and yes, there was one scene near the end where I completely broke down and sobbed 🥺💔

Ty Hudson and Daisy Winslow’s story was everything.

Three years after one unforgettable night filled with sparks and terrible timing, they found themselves back in the same small town—Linwood—carrying completely different versions of themselves. Ty was retired from hockey, building a quieter life coaching the Mayhem team, running a rescue farm, and loving the little girl next door like his own 🏒🐐

And Daisy… she came back broken. Grieving. Holding onto the last piece of family she had left. Watching her try to survive each day while being pulled back toward Ty—and everything she once felt—was painfully beautiful 😭

The way their connection reignited while grief lingered between them? It was raw, messy, and so real.

And TY HUDSON… oh my god 😩❤️
He was that man. The kind who didn’t hesitate. The kind who showed up. The kind who loved so deeply it almost hurt to read. Seeing him as a foster father, seeing how much that role meant to him, how it completed him… I was gone. Completely gone 🥹

Daisy hit even harder for me.
There was something so real about her—feeling lost, out of control, like a burden, not wanting help even when she needed it the most. Her growth wasn’t instant or perfect, and that made it even more powerful. Watching her slowly find her footing, her people, her place in the Mayhem crew… it felt earned 💛

And the found family in this book???
I swear I wanted to pack my bags and move to Linwood immediately 🏡✨
Every character—from humans to animals—felt alive. They showed up for each other. They loved loudly. They stayed. And that kind of community just hit differently.

What truly stood out was how grief was written.
It wasn’t romanticized. It wasn’t rushed. It was felt. There were lines in this book that genuinely stayed with me—about sitting with grief, understanding it, and loving someone through it. That emotional depth made this story unforgettable 💔✨

This book had everything: heartbreak, healing, reconnection, quiet moments, overwhelming love, and that beautiful chaos that comes with building a life you never expected 💫

I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t want to.

✨ Perfect for fans of:
💔 Second chance romance
🏒 Hockey players
👨‍👧 Single guardian / foster dad
🏡 Small town vibes
🤍 Found family
😭 Grief & healing
🔥 Forced proximity
🐾 Animal side characters
❤️‍🔥 Emotional, character-driven love stories

Made for Mayhem by Aimee Vance is book two of the Mayhem Hockey Club series but can be read as a standalone. It is a contemporary, small town romance with strong themes of healing from grief, found family, and making the most of second chances.

Ty Hudson and Daisy Winslow met on the night of Ty's retirement from the NHL. One special night. Instant chemistry. Awful timing -- the right person at the wrong time. Fast forward three years --Ty and Daisy are thrown back together in the small town of Linwood as they grapple with a shared tragedy. The sparks are still there but will each of them work through their heavy grief and allow their hearts to be open and vulnerable again?

Ty and Daisy are marvelous MCs whom I really enjoyed. I appreciated how their story mixed so much humor with the grief and I loved how their romance included so much friendship and growth. I liked watching how their character arcs grew both apart AND together.

The story doesn't shy away from the less glamorous aspects of grief. I felt genuinely invested in the emotional journey unfolding. In particular, Vance's depiction of Daisy navigating her grief and healing felt raw and authentic. I had so many teary moments. Then witnessing how Daisy and Ty worked together for little Junie... queue more sniffling and my heart swooning.

I think it can be tricky for an author to create slightly older children who aren't overly precocious or "old souls". However Junie was an adorably, lovable 8-year-old whom I just wanted to hug non-stop. Clearly she was a huge part of the story and an important catalyst for moving the plot forward.

Overall I give Made for Mayhem by Aimee Vance a solid four stars. I am obsessed with the amazing side characters and couldn't get enough of the farm animal chaos. The second chance, found family, and forced proximity vibes gave me all the feels. I highly recommend this book if you're looking for an emotional story that will break your heart and mend it again.

A huge thank you to Aimee Vance and House of Hearts Lit for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Oh don’t mind me, quietly sobbing over here… Made For Mayhem is a deeply emotional, beautifully hopeful story about grief, love, and the courage to begin again.

This book gutted me in the best way. It’s a story about loss, the kind that blindsides you and forces your world into a before and after, but it’s also about the unexpected ways love threads itself through the wreckage.

Daisy returns home only after learning her sister Violet has died; a truth she never saw coming. She didn’t know Violet was sick. She didn’t know how bad things had gotten. And now she’s standing in the middle of a life she left behind, trying to make sense of the niece who suddenly needs her, the grief she wasn’t prepared for, and the guilt she can’t outrun.

Junie is the heartbeat of this story. She’s bright, tender, and grieving in her own small, brave way. And standing right beside her is Ty.

Ty, the man Daisy met three years ago for one unforgettable night of truth-or-dare honesty.
Ty, the retired hockey player with a quiet steadiness that feels like safety.
Ty, who stepped in for Junie long before Daisy knew she needed stepping in for.

Their reunion is complicated and emotional, it’s a collision of past sparks, present grief, and the kind of second chance neither of them expected. Daisy’s life is messy, but she’s trying. She’s sorting through the pieces, choosing to stay, choosing to show up, even when it hurts.

And Ty… he’s the kind of man who shows up without being asked.

What makes this story shine is the grief portrayed with honesty. It’s raw, imperfect, and deeply human. Daisy is a beautiful mess, she grows in real time, stumbling and rising in ways that feel true. Ty is steady, patient, and quietly devoted, especially to Junie. He’s never forgotten the night three years ago where we met a girl that changed his whole life with a game of truth or dare. There tension is a sloowwwww burn and it is worth it. Ty knows exactly what he wants and isn’t afraid to go for it. The thighs, the mustache, the care taker tendencies he’s a the whole package and more!

Let me just tell you the family friend group that wraps around them with humor, loyalty, and heart is the best EVER. They will have you laughing and crying through out this whole book. The way they come together for one another and bring Daisy into the fold is one of best parts of this book.

This is a story about learning that love doesn’t erase loss, it grows around it. Daisy and Ty don’t fix each other. They walk forward together, carrying what hurts and choosing what heals.

A huge thank you to Aimee Vance and House of Hearts Lit for the early copy!!
