The Santa Rules: A Holiday Rom Com

Rate this book
Sometimes, the best gift isn’t under the tree, it’s finding someone who makes you believe again.

Hardy
Last Christmas, I messed up so badly my daughter asked Santa to be her new dad. This year, I’m determined to make it right—except I have no clue how to pull off the effortless kind of holiday magic my late wife did. I need help.

When I walk into the local PTO meeting, I don’t plan to volunteer to help my daughter's teacher. We make a deal: She’ll be my Christmas coach and teach me the Santa Rules, and I’ll help her build the most magical Santa Workshop.

Bella
I’m determined not to be the hot mess everyone thinks I am, so I volunteer to create the biggest and best Christmas event the PTO has ever seen…along with my student’s hot dad.

He swears he can’t fall in love again—and isn’t sure his daughter is ready for him to try—but somewhere between decorating trees, making questionable Christmas cookies, and defiling Santa’s throne, we start breaking more than just the Santa Rules.

A holiday rom com with a single mom, a single dad, two kids, and a whole lot of fun.

What better way to get into the holiday spirit than with a small town romance full of hijinx and inappropriate jokes?
If I’m being honest, I almost had to DNF this book. The beginning was very hard for me to get through as I felt it was too cringey and the humor was off. But, I’m glad I stuck through because it did get a little better. Bella is just a chaos monster and that’s evident from the start. Fortunately, we do get to see the more serious and vulnerable part of her once Hardy comes around. First off, single dads are always going to do it for me, but I loved how he was protective and caring for everyone in the story. Their banter and the shenanigans they get into were so fun and i thoroughly enjoyed how they grew as a couple. My favorite part, however, was the relationship between their kids. They were so sweet to one another and built a genuine friendship despite their age gap. I love me some wholesome family moments.
Overall this book was fun but I had a very hard time completing getting over some of the cringey lingo and humor. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something silly and seasonal.

Thank you Luna Literacy for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so much fun!! Hardy and Bella, plus their kids, had me cracking up this entire book!

🎅🏻Single dad x single mom
🎅🏻Firefighter romance
🎅🏻Romcom
🎅🏻Grumpy x sunshine
🎅🏻Daughter’s teacher

Bella is Hardy’s daughter teacher, and while they are both attending a PTO meeting, they volunteer to work on Santa’s workshop together.

Hardy wasn’t the best Santa last year for his daughter, so with Bella’s help, he is determined to make this the best year yet. And in doing so, these two get a lot more for Christman than they bargained for!

Bella is so unapologetically herself and she was cracking me up throughout the book. From her ill timed peen jokes to her sunshine personality to the way she is there for all of her students; she is the complete package. I loved her boldness and her ability to be authentically herself.

Hardy is a little lost, but what he lacks in cluelessness regarding the holidays, he makes up for in firefighter sexiness. I love his willingness to learn from his holiday mistakes in the past, and his unwavering love for his daughter.

Thank you Mya for the advanced copy. I loved this one so much!

Oh how I would have loved a Santa Rules app when my son was young! The idea in this book is pure genius!

I swear, Mya had a gander into how I parented when my son was young and wrote Bella. I too am a sarcastic, foul mouthed boy mom. And Hardy is that golden retrievable MMC we all love. He and Avery have been through so much and I just want to wrap him in a giant hug. But that mouth of his? I am here for it!

I just love how perfectly matched he and Bella are for each other. And Isaac. How cool is that kid? The way he takes Avery under his wing is adorable. They are both scene stealers.

If you’re looking for a hilarious holiday read, this is the book for you!

I absolutely loved this book, I was laughing the entire time, with total Bad Mom's vibes, it is such a fun read!

Quite literally from the first line of this book I could not put it down and was just so excited to read what came next. This is one of those books I would have wanted to read if the author had only posted the first line as the blurb, it is that amusing. The hilarity does not end until the book is done!

FMC Bella, official hot mess mom, during a quickie one night stand gone wrong, ends up in an ambulance with MMC Hardy (EMT and firefighter), where not all of her...ladies...manage to stay where they belong....She learns very soon at the PTO meeting that Hardy is also one of her students father's. They both volunteer to work the Santa's Workshop event. Hardy also requests Bella help him as a Christmas coach to give his daughter the best Christmas ever. Bella teachers him about the Santa rules, and her son Isaac also plays along.

This holiday romance is just on another level than the average rom-com. The spice, the peen jokes, the impropriety left and right, Sprinkle McPinkle Pants, anatomically correct cookies...it is just wonderful! Bella is amazing, the dirty minded, yet thoughtful, mom you'd want as your bestie. Hardy is super sweet, and folds right into the mix. With sexual innuendo at every turn, this story truly reminds me of hanging out with friends. All the characters in this story are great too, the schools Principal, Bella's friends, Isaac and Avery, and even Bella's nemesis Amber. Isaac and Avery are so cute together too.

The Santa Rules, I love them!! I think this should be a real thing, I love how it can fit any family situation, it is so perfect. As Hardy and Bella work on the big Christmas event, they kick up the spice, at least every chance they get while their kids are busy.

And the Santa chair...you really have to read this book so you can enjoy all the fun and spice!

Some fav quotes:
"Okay, now I'm definitely a shit mom, but it's been six months since I've had a good manhandling, and I need it after today."

"This is the second dick my hand has grazed tonight, and yet I'm no closer to ending my dry spell. Why am I such a hot mess?"

"This is why I do hookup apps. Get in, get off, get out, all before I can open my mouth and let my awkward turtle loose."

"I, on the other hand, tend to vacillate between awkward weirdo and perverted weirdo, though my students get teacher weirdo."

""So, tell me more about the hot firefighter." "I never said he was a firefighter." "This is a small town, you don't think I'd notice when a hot new man moves to town and starts handling a big hose?""

"My eyes go straight to the giant candy cane between his legs. You know the ones I am talking about? The ones they sell at the drug store that are comically huge..."

"Did this man come from Santa's workshop just for me? Guess I've been a really good girl after all, because he's too good to be true."

"Holy hot damn. The tongue on this man should come with a warning. May experience mind-numbing pleasure."

""You have this ability to see the bright side in every situation. And make anything sound dirty." "It's called optimism, and the rest is because I'm a pervert.""

Thank you so much to Luna Literary and the author for a copy of this book!!

This was such a sweet, funny, and overall magical holiday romance!! I giggled so much all throughout as the banter was just hysterical! I loved Bella's pure hot mess energy and how she pushed on to make sure that everyone around her was not only taken care of but also had the magic flowing in their holidays! Her sense of humor had me rolling at times, and her relationship with her son was absolutely amazing and heartwarming! Adding into the mix Hardy and his grumpiness was just perfection from the get-go! Their chemistry together, and the way the kids got along so seamlessly was a thing of mom dreams! I loved watching him push through his own insecurities and uncertainties to make sure that Avery had the best holiday, while learning to accept the love and support he needed and wanted! These two were so much fun, and I just loved every minute of this book! 4.75 stars; 3.5 chili peppers

4.5 🌟 CUTE! Her sense of humor reminds me of Meghan Quinn but almost a little more unhinged lol. I had some good laughs and really enjoyed this honestly. Some moments I was like “okay a little odd” but it was all genuinely funny/so cute. And no third act break up hell yes 👏🏼

The Santa Rules is a strangers to lover's, close proximity, small town, single dad/single mom romance and is the story of Bella and Hardy.

This story brought me so many laughs and moments of almost tears. Hardy lost his wife and he feels as though he has failed his young daughter for Christmas. Bella is his daughter's teacher and after an embarrassing first meeting, Bella is asked to help with the biggest Christmas PTO event of the year and Hardy volunteers to help. When Bella learns of Hardy's failed Christmas magic for his daughter, she offers to teach him the Santa Rules and as they plan the PTO event and she taught him the rules, Hardy and Bella start to see each other as just more than parents. Days spent together with their kids, planning events and surprises leaves them feeling more like a family than either has ever felt.

There were so many golden moments of good lessons and true connection in this book. The Santa Rules each had a great basis and the lessons Bella had ingrained in her son were so special and what the Christmas season is about. I enjoyed how Hardy was able to bond with Bella's son as well as be there for him as a friend when things had gotten rough. Bella took such care to make Hardy's daughter feel special and do things for her dad but not overwhelm her or try to replace her mom. If you are looking for a feel good book with lots of banter, spicy scenes that will make you blush and a wonderful Christmas lesson to boot, then this is the perfect book for you.

I received an advanced copy of this book and am leaving an honest review as a show of my appreciation.

Thank you to Luna Literary Management for my advance copy of The Santa Rules by Mya More in exchange for my honest review!

I'll be honest...in the beginning I had my nose turned up at Bella, the FMC, and her mouth and her teenage son, but as the story unfolds, she quickly became my favorite and I absolutely apologized to her 😂.

We have Bella, single mom from a divorce, and Hardy, single dad as he's a widower. Their first encounter was a sh*tshow where responded to a call at her house. Their next meeting was at school where she discovers the hunky EMT she embarrassed herself in front of is the father of one of her kindergarten students!

He confesses to Bella that he "ruined" Christmas because he didn't do it how his wife used to and his daughter made comments about it. She agrees to help him and hopefully they can save Christmas for Avery, his daughter.

I absolutely LOVE the rules. It's ingenious. If my kids weren't teens I would 100% be implementing them! The romance is swoony and spicy, this was a great 5 star read and the PERFECT story to kick me into the holiday spirit! This needs

Let’s all agree that dating in your late 30s is awful. The apps suck, and having an actual conversation with somebody out in the wild is terrifying. Pile that onto being a single parent and I could not imagine doing any of it.

Bella is a hyper independent divorcé who is navigating life with her teenage son and teaching kindergarten. She calls herself a hot mess, but she’s really doing her best and she always takes care of everybody. Hardy is a widower who is trying to rebound after in his words “ruining Christmas last year for his little girl” while also living in a new town and being a new lieutenant and the fire department.

Their world’s collide after Hardy answers a call to Bella’s house and instantly falls in love with her left tit and her sense of humor. With Bella‘s help and guidance Hardy rebounds from last year‘s Christmas and not only makes Christmas for his little girl the best Christmas ever, but he also shows Bella what she really deserves.

Moral of the story here kids - you really do find love in the strangest places and die hard is a Christmas movie. Yippie-ki-yay mother fuckers!

🥰 Single parents
😂 Rom com

After an embarrassing meet cute, single mum Bella and single dad (widower) Hardy join forces to create the best PTO christmas event that their small town has ever seen.

Hardy is determined not to ruin another christmas for his daughter after the death of her mum left him clueless about the traditions that Avery craves. Mum to teen Isaac, Bella wants to prove she isnt the hot mess everyone thinks she is and is capable of so much more than they expect.

Cute, funny festive romance. Overall I did enjoy but I found some of the innuendos a bit on the cringy side! Now I LOVE spice so it's not that I don't enjoy reading it but i did have a bit of second hand embarrassment during the book i can't lie! I think I needed a bit more character building at the start and a more of them getting to know each other before we jumped right in!

I would recommend though for a funny festive read🥰

ARC Review for’The Santa Rules’ by Mya More.

What a funny holiday romcom!
Bella is a single mom, a kindergarten teacher and as fate has it, the daughter of the hunky firefighter who saved her t1t is in her class lol.
Hardy is a widower and has a love at first sight (of a t1t)🤣
Their interaction is sweet, funny, genuine!
Ofcourse they are also dealing with their kids on how to navigate their life and eventual life together, but this made their connection all the better!
I personally could relate to Mya how she interacts with her son, reminded me on how I sometimes are with my kids🤣
Their chemistry was fun! Their 🌶️ is yum! I cannot say anymore about their 🌶️ 🫣🫣

All in all enjoyed this fun romcom. Imagine RomCom with a lot of sprinkled spice🫣

STOP IT how cute was this story??

This is a holiday rom com with single mom X single dad, firefighter MMC, small town, grumpy X sunshine.
Smut was 3/5 on the spice scale and it’s a HEA.

Bella is our FMC, single mom to a teenage boy, beloved teacher to young kids, and the expert in being a Hot Mess and The Santa Rules. Getting to watch her fall in love was so amusing, and her personality really vibed with mine I did love her.

Hardy is our MMC, determined NOT to fuck up Christmas this year for his daughter. He’s made mistakes but is there anything hotter than a man who wants to learn from them? No. No there isn’t, and Hardy’s determination was HOT.

If you need a good laugh out loud with spice and a happy ending this is your book!!! The characters were amazing. I love how Issac and Avery connected right off the bat. I think that really helped Issac out of his slump with his dad and showed how great of a role model and fantastic mom has raised him!! Bella is just such a sweet soul and definitely evens out Hardy’s grump. The best holiday rom-com yet!!!

🌶🌶 - Spice Level

Hardy is the widowed, single dad firefighter. Bella is the divorced, single mom of a teen boy and the local kindergarten teacher. After a most embarrassing tiddy meet cute when he's trying to sort her medical episode, he finds out she's his child's teacher. They both end up paired together for the PTO Christmas event. This is where they get so much closer and have so many laughs together. She teaches him how to do Christmas for his child within the confines of a budget and what you subscribe to.

I was an absolute gonner with every little Christmas lesson, and the spicy scenes were hot 🔥 enough that you needed a fire hose! This is by far a top Christmas Romantic Comedy for me in all my Christmas reading! Put these two cuties on your Christmas TBR!!

"The Santa Rules"

by Mya More

Bella, a single Mom to 13yo Isaac, and Hardy, a single dad to little 6yo Avery. She is a kindergarten teacher and he is an EMT and 👩🏽‍🚒. She is 4 years divorced and he is almost 2 years widower.

Opposites attract but in the end Love wins. And in between? Christmas. The most magical time of year acts as a match maker and sends these souls into each others.

It's so-so-so funny (the dirty jokes are the best) and it has a very great holiday rom-com vibe all over.

The side characters are amazingly written. Truly amazing.

And Christmas. Oh, my heart. This small town really loves 🎅🏻 and I love this book for it.

And I swear I'll never look at a Santa's throne the same way 🤭

This was my first Mya book and I promise it will be the first of many. Mya's writing had a direct way to my heart.

Thank you to the author and to Luna Literary for this ARC. It will go to my favorites list.

---

some my favorite quotes:

I refuse to look at his face because I can tell from the deep, gravelly voice that this man is attractive.

She was stunningly beautiful and stirred something in me I haven't felt in years.

I need to remain professional, even if he is the most delicious man I've ever seen and I want to lick every inch of his body.

She grabs my cheeks and kisses me hard. Desperately. Like I'm the last cookie on Santa's plate and she hasn't eaten in days.

"Oooh, a man who follows directions and shows up with treats. Yes, please."

F*ck, I think I'm in love with this man. He gets me. My heart, my humor, my dirty jokes.

Guess I've been a really good girl after all, because he's too good to be true.

There's just something about her that feels safe. Like home.

I'm only a man - a weak, weak man who is tired of pushing away the one thing I want most.

"I'm so consumed with thoughts of you it's become a problem," I admit.

There's a fervor in our movements that I've never experienced before, as though we can't move fast enough, can't kiss deep enough.

The Santa Rules is a delightful story that had me cracking up laughing, swooning, and crying while smiling so big at the references to all of my favorite Christmas movies.

Bella and Isaac are so relatable that as a boy mom, I felt like some of this story was my own real life experiences and I loved these characters even more for being so real. Bella has been through it and I loved how instead of letting the way people treated her dictate her actions, she turned everything she did into this wonderful way to positively impact others and I loved how genuine and caring her heart was throughout the entire story.

Hardy and Avery I fell for right off the bat. I loved how hard he was working to be everything that Avery needed after they both suffered such a monumental loss. Hardy wins best dad for sure and I loved that he was not only there for his own daughter, but he also became a trusted confidant for Isaac.

On top of the incredible way that Bella and Hardy stepped up for their kids, the chemistry between them was also perfect. They had fun banter, were both incredible people, and I just loved the way they came together and cared for each other in the exact way they each needed.

While this book is full of fun references, incredible chemistry, humor, and shenanigans, it is also such a heartwarming and beautiful story about how impactful people are within our lives and when you have the right person there for you, anything is possible. I adored how Bella stepped up to help Hardy make Avery's Christmas the best yet and using The Santa Rules, she changed the way I will forever think of Santa. On top of that, I also loved the relationship that developed between Isaac and Avery.

The Santa Rules, while funny puts out big time cozy, family vibes and I was smitten with all of these characters and this incredible story!

To know me is to know that I love the holidays and I love a good holiday romance. What I have found myself craving more and more as I’ve gotten older is a holiday romance that strikes the balance between Hallmark sweetness, and the spiciest spice. The Santa Rules manages to do that so perfectly. Bella is a single mum, Kindergarten teacher, self proclaimed hot mess and a woman who is firmly in touch with her sexuality and is extremely sex positive. She is also kind, funny, caring, an amazing friend and mother. Bella is definitely someone I would be friends with. She’s the kind of person you want in your corner and I was rooting for her so hard from page 1. Hardy is a sweet broody single dad who’s trying to do right by his little girl while also making a difference as a firefighter and handling his grief. They went up volunteering to work on the PTA’s Santa Village while Bella teaches him about Christmas so he can make up for all the mistakes he made during the first Christmas after his wife passed away. Their story is so heartwarming, it touches on grief and how difficult it can be to navigate the holiday season without your loved one while still trying to make it special for the little ones. Their story Santa Rules concept was so unique and something that I will be using should I ever have the opportunity. This story was sweet as pie, the spice was top tier, the friendship between Hardy and Issac was heartwarming, and the way that Hardy loved Bella exactly as she was, embraced her for the good, the bad and the messy. The way she was patient with him as he tried to navigate his feelings while doing what was best for his kid? 10 stars no notes. You will laugh, you will cry, you will swoon and fan yourself from the spice, and you will have the time of your life reading the Santa Rules.

Highlights - The spice scenes did not disappoint. The Christmas puns were eye rolling, but, most of the time in a playful way.

Let Downs - In my opinion, the number of times the word “tit” is said throughout this book is crass. Along with the disturbing conversations between Bella and her son. Specifically, the opening scene and the bathroom scene at the 30% mark. I will fully disclose the fact that I do not have sons but I can’t imagine this being a common conversation in any household. It seemed rather inappropriate that the son felt comfortable enough to have this conversation with his mother. My biggest upset with this book though is how incompetent and ignorant the dad is portrayed. I understand he has a busy job that kept him away from his family in years past but it’s not realistic that he had zero idea of any family Christmas traditions. There were several instances that I found myself questioning how he wouldn’t have known certain things had taken place in his home, for instance, the name of the elf and the premise of it. Sure, his wife may have been the one to have done it all, but she didn’t do it all in secret. Having a hard time doing it all on your own is one thing but being completely ignorant about it ever having happened in your family is rude to cast on him.

Concluding Thoughts - This book had such a great premise. EMS firefighter meets Kindergarten teach on an emergency call and by happenstance they end up on the same PTO project. Through this project they are able to spend a considerable amount of time together and quickly fall for each other. Overall, the story had a lot of questionable conversations that I think brought it down in refinement but the storyline was well thought out and had a promising resolution.

The Santa Rules by Mya More was absolute romcom gold for me. Bella is a single mom to her thirteen year old son, Isaac, and works as the local kindergarten teacher. Hardy is a widower with a six year old daughter, Avery, and serves as a firefighter and EMT. After a hilarious and embarrassing meet cute, the two cross paths again at a PTO meeting where they both volunteer for the school’s Santa’s Workshop program. When Bella learns that Hardy really struggled with Christmas the previous year while coping with his wife’s loss, she is determined to teach him The Santa Rules and help bring the magic of the holidays back for his little girl.

This book had everything I love in a holiday romance. It was funny, heartwarming, and surprisingly spicy. I mean, he is a firefighter! I have not read a book this fast in a long time, I just could not put it down. Bella’s humor and parenting style reminded me so much of myself that I felt like we could be best friends. The banter was sharp, the chemistry was fantastic, and the spicy scenes were perfection. There is one in particular that had me staring at the page thinking, wow, that is fire.

If I had one small wish, it would be for a bit more depth in the scene where Hardy opens up about his late wife. It was a touching moment, and I think drawing it out just a little more could have made it even more emotional.

Overall, this was a five star read that completely got me in the holiday spirit. Mya More is a new to me author, and I will definitely be checking out more of her work. The Santa Rules was funny, flirty, festive, and full of heart. I will absolutely be rereading it again next holiday season. Perfect for readers who love single parent romances, playful humor, light BDSM, and all the Christmas joy.

Hardy and Bella's story was OH so good! Hilarious, heartwarming, and some hot spice is what you'll find when you read this book.

Hardy is a hot EMT/fire fighter who was widowed a couple years before, making him a single dad to 6 yr old, Avery.
Bella is a divorced mom to 13 yr old Isaac, uses humor to cover up when she's nervous or uncomfortable, and a teacher to kindergarteners (yep, Avery's in her class). Things go wrong around Bella but she always sees the bright-side to everything.

The first meeting these two have is quite the eye-opening experience. The next is at the school's PTO meeting where Bella volunteers to prove she is not a screw up and can make the Santa Workshop a success. Needing a second person to oversee the project, Hardy readily volunteers to help. In exchange for the help, Bella offers to help Hardy learn The Santa Rules. This is to help Hardy learn how to give his daughter a good Holiday experience and Christmas since he doesn't know how to make them magical for her like his wife used to. Through all the "meetings" they have for the workshop and Santa Rules they learn so much about each other, help each other and their kids become quite close.

This is more than than I expected. This book was hilarious, watch your eating and drinking while reading! This book was thought provoking in many ways and very heartfelt and heartwarming. This book has the potential to bring a tear or two as well. These MCs deal with their losses in life together along with their kids. Isaac is an absolute amazing character all around -- such a good kid!!

Oh sweet, sweet holiday romance! 'Tis the season and The Santa Rules is here to get you in the mood for it.

Bella is your sweet but hilariously inappropriate single mom who winds up in an ambulance post-one night stand. Grumpy EMT Hardy is in that ambulance treating Bella. Fast forward to the PTO meeting and Bella finds out the EMT Hardy is dad to one of her students. Both of them volunteer for the Santa's Workshop event and Hardy in particular needs Bella's help to make it the best Christmas for his daughter since last year was lackluster. Bella agrees because she's determined to show everyone that she has it together and not a mess.

This truly is a romcom and it was hilarious - I absolutely needed the laugh when I picked it up! And I love Christmas books, so I was already predisposed to liking it. With the grumpy x sunshine and the right amount of spice... hell yes, this is a great read! Oh! I can't forget the innuendo and inappropriate jokes. Truly innuendo is an art form and More nailed it.

Festive, funny, heartwarming, and spicy... It's a perfect way to start the holiday season!
