Lightning Heart

Little Lizzy Douglas was struck by lightning at the age of four when on holidays with her peculiar family and is slowly dying. During the last six months of her life, Northern Ireland is driven towards a peace agreement between the Nationalist pro-Irish population and Unionist pro-British. Lizzy, like her DJ mother, is a Catholic and is slowly dying from a heart complication caused by her accident. Her social worker and cage fighting father, Christy, is a Protestant and is struggling to come to terms with his daughters’ illness. In a place where Protestants and Catholics fought for thirty years, Lightning Heart shows us what we are all capable of when a people learn to love each other unconditionally...
