Guardian Hall #3

Always Enough

Rate this book
One night. One baby. One safe place that changes everything.

Corporal Morgan Armitage arrives at Guardian Hall in the middle of the night with nothing left but his daughter in his arms. Living on the streets, he's a veteran carrying grief, trauma, and now a newborn; he’s terrified of failing. Guardian Hall gives him space to breathe, to heal, and to learn how to be a father when every instinct tells him he’s one mistake away from losing everything. What Morgan doesn’t expect is to be seen—not as broken, not as a problem—but as a man who is already enough.

Cole Braxton has money, power, and a life built on control. A millionaire investor who quietly funds Guardian Hall, he believes he can fix problems with resources and distance. Then Morgan and his baby walk into his world and refuse to stay at arm’s length. Drawn to the quiet strength of a single father fighting for his child, Cole finds himself wanting something money can’t buy: a family that chooses him back.

Always Enough is an emotional romance about survival, healing, and building something real. Set within the walls of Guardian Hall, it’s a story of a wounded single dad, a soft-spoken millionaire who learns how to stay, found family, gentle caregiving, and a love that proves safety isn’t a weakness—and sometimes, being enough is everything.

I can't really put my finger on why this didn't give me what I was looking for. 🤔

It was good, cute but maybe a bit too bland? And that's saying something for me, i'm very anti-angst in relationships and I prefer the sex to come after an emotional connection so this had all the right things but the connection felt a bit awkward for me.

Still, I liked them together. I liked Cole a lot, there were little glimpses that he was worried about not getting to be with Morgan and Gabbi and I found that really endearing coming from a confident man.

Not the biggest fan of being told there had been a bunch of dates instead of being shown but that's me, greedy and wanting to see that connection because by that point it still felt like it was all surrounding the baby. Which is usually how stories with kids go but still, gimme more of the romance ya'know?

The author tried to tell us that Morgan didn't want Cole for the money and tried to tell us that Cole wanted Morgan as an individual without the 'ready made family' but it didn't do the best showing us this but it's not like they did anything to show us that they were in it for those reasons so it's just left me feeling conflicted 😵‍💫

Still! The moments of romance were very enjoyable, I just needed more of it and probably an epilogue that was further out.

No others in any way. 🥰

I've been enjoying this series immensely and loved getting to know Cole, Morgan and Gabbi as well as revisiting the Guardian Hall crew. This story hit differently than the first two, because I honestly didn't see the trauma and angst from the previous two books. I loved watching Cole fall in love with both Morgan and Gabbi, and Morgan with Cole, but I wanted more angst and struggle - it felt like once Morgan was over the initial crisis of giving Gabbi a place to be safe, he went through required motions rather than actually healing from past trauma. Don't get me wrong, I loved the love story and rooted for these guys from the beginning, it was just a small niggle that kept me from falling deeply in love with this book as a Guardian Hall story.

Always Enough is the third book in the Guardian Hall series. It stars Corporal Morgan Armitage, and Cole Braxton, a wealthy CEO. This is told in first person from Morgan and Cole’s pov.

I first read this story in the author’s newsletter and enjoyed it then. I don’t think anything has been added to the book, at least it doesn’t seem like it. This story is a fast and easy read. It seems less angsty or dramatic than the first two books in the series.

Morgan and his baby daughter first showed up at the end of Book Two. I consider this an instant attraction story between Morgan and Cole, although I can’t figure out why. It felt like Cole was attracted to Morgan because Cole wanted to help someone, and there was Morgan and the baby. I didn’t understand why Morgan felt more comfortable with Cole than he did with the people who ran Guardian Hall. The people in charge of Guardian Hall were trained to help people in need. Cole just had a lot of money to help and didn’t have experience. He mostly just hung around.

Cole was a nice person who was more interested in helping people and Guardian Hall than schmoozing with people in high society. Morgan spent his time worrying that people would take Gabby from him and dealing with his fears and insecurities. He was pretty messed up mentally and emotionally when he met Cole. I wasn’t quite convinced in these two men as a couple, mostly because Morgan had so many issues and he didn’t really want to work on them. Also, because the story moved along quickly I didn’t feel like there was enough time given to Morgan’s recovery to make him realistically begin a relationship. It seemed like he was trying to make excuses as to why he and Cole couldn’t be together, rather than looking at why he felt that way. I wasn’t as convinced about Morgan and Cole being a couple as I was the other men in the previous two books.

Overall, Always Enough was an easy read that wasn’t that angsty considering the conflict in the story. I would’ve liked the plot to have been expanded and filled out more, but it’s okay as it is. I give this story, 3 Stars.

I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest and unbiased review.

Always Enough is a touching, character-driven story about grief, healing, and unexpected love. Morgan, a struggling new father fresh out of the armed forces, finds refuge at Guardian Hall after a devastating loss. His emotional turmoil and fierce devotion to baby Gabbi feel authentic, and his journey through counseling is portrayed convincingly. Cole, a wealthy supporter of the shelter, brings warmth and stability, and their slow-building relationship feels natural and sincere. While the plot is fairly straightforward, the strong focus on character growth and supportive relationships makes it an engaging and heartfelt read.

I love single father stories and this is a terrific one. Morgan is flailing and desperate when he arrives with his baby daughter at Guardian Hall and is given the support and help he needs. When Cole our favourite benefactor arrives and they meet, Morgan feels an attraction to him amidst his fear for his daughter’s safety, and although Cole wants to help he doesn’t know exactly how. Watching them grow towards each other, and become the person they each need was so special. Their slow-burn story is sweet, emotional and heartwarming and I loved it. Highly recommended.

Morgan is like many veterans who arrive at Guardian Hall — distrustful, hypervigilant and scared. However, he also sets a precedent at the establishment by bringing along his baby daughter Gabbi. Luckily, long-time Hall supporter Cole is there and Gabbi soon has every conceivable need met. This frees up some of Morgan’s bandwidth to explore therapy and a burgeoning relationship with Cole.

Theirs is a sweet romance, built slowly and steadily and with consideration for Gabbi. I love that, as eager as he is, Cole is willing to meet Morgan where he is at. His sensitivity and patience is divine.

With unexpected familial support as well as the found family at Guardian Hall, these men are able to pursue their HEA. Scott sensitively depicts Morgan’s experiences/trauma and subsequent trauma responses. She also nails the way babies can bring people together. An emotional and hopeful romance. Five stars.

This is the 3rd book in this series about a shelter house in Chicago, where people with nowhere else to go can find help. It's a place that will ask no questions and take in anyone in need, giving them a place to breathe and to heal from whatever trauma they might carry.

Morgan arrives at Guardian Hall in the middle of the night, carrying nothing more than a back pack hastily filled and a baby in his arms. His 5-month old daughter Gabbi, whom he rescued when he found her mother dead from a drug overdose in her apartment.

He is broke, homeless and scared nearly out of his mind - afraid to be questioned by police for running with his child, afraid to mess up taking care of Gabbi, afraid that he's useless and clueless and that Gabbi's grandparents will try to take her away from him.

Cole is the CEO/head honcho of a company, a millionaire, with all the power that comes with it. He's also quietly funding parts of Guardian Hall and immediately takes an interest in helping Morgan in any way he can, primarily with money of which he has plenty.

This is obviously a romance, but it's also a sweet, heart-felt story of overcoming trauma and adversity, and finding the strength to rely on other people, which isn't an easy thing to do. Both Morgan and Cole have lessons to learn, and both of them are given time to figure things out, sometimes with a little help from others.

Minor spoilers ahead...

I didn't rate this book higher because overall it felt too easy. Lemme explain - the issues raised are all difficult, but the solutions were too simple, too quick for my particular taste. Like Gabbi's grandparents - I expected them to put up a fight for their daughter's child, but Similar for Cole - based on initial characterizations, I expected his mother and father to be disdainful of Morgan, but

I was told of emotions, but didn't feel them. I was told of trauma, but it was easily sorted. I was told of self-doubts, but a short conversation seemed to take care of those too. It was all a little too superficial, I suppose, and I just didn't fully connect with the characters and their story.

I liked revisiting with the characters from the previous books in this series, and I did like how strong and steadfast Cole is in his support of Morgan. Their relationship and its development, while a little on the fast side, did work for me. The author has a distinct writing style which feels familiar and comforting at this point. Even though I only gave this book 3 stars, I do consider it worth the time it took to read Morgan and Cole's journey to their happy ending.

I received a free copy. This review is submitted voluntarily.

Morgan has been released recently from the armed forces. After finding his baby’s mother dead by an overdose on Christmas, he picks up baby Gabbi as well as whatever of hers fits into his backpack and runs, heading for Guardian Hall where he can find shelter. Cole is a rich man who, among other things, subsidises Guardian Hall. He fids himself taken by Gabbi and buys a whole lot of items she “needs”. Alog the way he falls in love with Morgan, as well as his daughter. In turn, Morgan, through talking with Cole, falls in love as well. The book follows them through the process of falling.

The plot is quite straightforward with few detours along the way. Calling Morgan a mess would be an understatement. He doesn’t recognize how much he needs Guardian Hall and its services. His only anchor is his daughter Gabbi, who’s about 5 months old, and he has difficulty letting anyone else handle her. The author’s description of his mental state and what he goes through for counselling is very credible. Morgan’s difficulty making decisions is in no way surprising. Cole is shown as a sort of patron who is essential to Guardian Hall. He is also very sympathetic to Morgan and his situation, offering him an ear and a shoulder. Morgan’s “in-laws” and Coles parents provide great support for the small family, something I found surprising given how their attitudes were described early in the novel. Much support also comes in the form of the small staff of Guardian Hall. In the end, everyone turns out to be a positive factor.

The series has gone from strength to strength and this latest installment makes a substantial contribution.

Morgan arrives at Guardian Hall overwhelmed by trauma and terrified of failing his newborn daughter, Gabbi. As he learns to care for her and slowly heal, Cole — a wealthy, protective man who’s used to keeping his distance — finds himself drawn into their lives. A gentle connection grows between them as Morgan realises he’s seen and valued, not broken. It’s a tender hurt/comfort, single‑dad romance about safety, found family, and discovering you’re already enough.

I absolutely loved this story. Morgan’s arrival at Guardian Hall — traumatised, exhausted, and clinging to his newborn daughter Gabbi — was written with such raw vulnerability that it was impossible not to feel every moment with him. Guardian Hall truly became a lifeline, giving him the safety, tools, and confidence he needed to start rebuilding his life and his sense of self. Cole’s involvement made the story even richer. The way he slowly wove himself into Morgan and Gabbi’s world felt natural and deeply heartfelt, and watching their relationship develop was incredibly rewarding. The emotional depth throughout — both from their pasts and their present‑day healing — was beautifully handled. A tender, emotional, and wonderfully hopeful read. This was an MM story with mature content.

Third in series (Guardian Hall), can be read as a standalone but might be more fun if read in order. Instalove. Hurt/comfort. Single dad. Found family. Slow burn. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.

Morgan is suddenly a single dad with no support system and scared for his and his daughters safety he runs to Guardian Hall for help. When Cole runs into Morgan he sees someone that he can help beyond just funding Guardian Hall, but falling for Morgan and his daughter was not expected.

This story is full of healing and support as Morgan accepts help from the people around him and the man that he quickly falls in love with. I do wish there was more time spent with Cole and Morgan building their relationship, but I enjoyed the sweet times they spent with Gabbi Morgan’s daughter and how hard Cole tries to be there for Morgan. I’m glad there was no outside angst and the relationship was straight forward and grew without obstacles as the couple worked towards their HEA. A good addition to this series.

Morgan, Gabbi and Coles story takes you through so many emotions.
The rollercoaster ride starts with Morgan and Gabbi. Fear and deep sadness surround them.
As Morgan seeks help and shelter at Guardian Hall, Morgan is filled with self-doubt and an urgent need to get his daughter to a safe place.
We get to visit with the boys from the previous books, Alex & Jazz and Marcus & Tyler which is a favorite of mine.
Then Morgan and Cole meet. The attraction is instant even though they are not quite sure what this is.
As they maneuver through what Morgan and Gabbi need, a closeness emerges that cannot be denied.
I won't go into detail as I feel the reader should experience the ups and downs, scary and wonderful times while reading for themselves.
This is, in my opinion, a wonderful love story.
A family is formed and they get far more than they expected or ever dared to dream.
There is also a little Rascal running around, also from a previous book :)

I love this whole series so much. Each book has been such a beautiful story about broken men who have found their special someone after going through really hard times.

Poor Morgan had to face fatherhood on his own after such a traumatic loss. Finding a safe place for his daughter was his number one priority and he found it at Guardian Hall.

There, he found people who truly cared for a stranger and his baby, and he also found love in Cole.

Cole was immediately taken by Morgan and baby Gabbi. He could tell Morgan had been through a lot and the instinct to protect them both took him by surprise.

Cole was determined to make sure Morgan and Gabbi had everything they needed. I loved that he didn’t force his way into Morgan’s life by offering him help. He respected Morgan’s boundaries and decisions.

Baby Gabbi won everyone’s heart. She was the invisible glue that tied them all together. She had them wrapped around her little fingers 🥰

**4.5**
This is such a heartwarming romance. It has my favourite trope, single dad romance, along with ex-military. Morgan is in need of help when he discovers his baby daughter and Guardian Hall immediately comes to mind. The team, of course, do their best to help them both.
Cole is not staff but he is the benefactor of the Hall and on one of his visits, that happily gets him away from family duty, he meets Morgan. It's a slow burn, tentative romance with Morgan very aware of his mental health, and the huge difference in their circumstances, mainly financial. His main priority is being there and providing for his daughter and Guardian Hall is doing its best in all aspects to help with that, which has been proven across this wonderful series.
I loved how this story played out. It isn't full of angst, though there is the way in which Morgan arrives at Guardian Hall being quite distressing along with his feelings of self-worth/esteem and PTSD from serving in the army.
A highly recommended read and series. Fans of RJ will love it!
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Morgan is in need of help but he's afraid of who to trust. He's a newly single father and ends up at a shelter. Trying to figure out how to take care of a baby when he has nothing is worrisome for anyone. In steps Cole the man behind the scenes of the shelter. He immediately takes an interest in Morgan and wants to help.

This was a sweet, low drama romance. The issues that come up are definitely something to worry about but I did feel like they didn't get the gravity they deserved, they were solved a little too fast and easy. I would've like a little more spark between Morgan and Cole. I didn't quite feel like they had reached a deep, forever love point. Otherwise I did enjoy reading this book and the rest of this series. 🙂

Single dad, military vet, class divide

Morgan is in desperate need of help for his infant daughter, Gabbi.
He just became a single dad after leaving the military.
Life is so much harder now than he thought it would be and he feels like a failure and that he's not worthy of being called a vet for surviving when others didn't.
Cole is very rich but feels like something is missing from his life, he feels as though his money and lifestyle are suffocating him.
When they literally bump into each other at Guardian Hall, they connect through their love of Gabbi.
It soon becomes apparent both need each other and a beautiful relationship slowly builds with them helping each other heal.

This is another feel-good romance from the Guardian Hall world. In this book, veteran Morgan shows up at Guardian Hall on Christmas Day holding his crying infant girl, a baby he found upon returning from deployment, lying next to her overdosed and deceased mother. Desperate, he fled to the one place that promised safety with no questions - Guardian Hall.

We've seen Cole before - a generous benefactor of Guardian Hall. When Cole was at the hall to drop off emergency baby supplies, he inadvertently bumped into Morgan and the baby. There was an immediate attraction, but it wasn't the time for more than friendship. Later, over time healing and a slow romance began to develop. This book has a beautiful love and a beautiful family with a bright future.

I hope this isn't the final book in this series as it was so good. I blinked and realised I had already finished half the book. This is is the story of Morgan, who suddenly becomes a single dad, and Cole the multi-millionaire/billionaire who funds Guardian Hall. Morgan is such a wonderful character he cares so much for his daughter Gabbi and the loves just pores through the book. Cole is so amusing as he keeps finding any excuse to visit Guardian Hall.
I thoroughly enjoyed the little snippets we got of the others at Guardian Hall particularly Rascal. You get a real feeling of warmth and hope just reading this story.

Another, Please!

I waited for months for this book, downloaded it at 6 a.m. the day it came out, read voraciously despite a busy day. The book, itself, did not.disappoint. The story began with a desperate run through a frozen city with a baby wrapped in a snow soaked blanket, and followed with the trained staff at Guardian Hall we have grown to know. Unfortunately, partway through, I stopped to go through some of my email. An email from RJ Scott came with devastating news - this is the end of the series. No more stories of Guardian Hall! I had been tempted to go to the end to see what came next, and then the news, no next! Say it isn't so - please reconsider.

My Review:
Cole is rich, but he wants to use it for good. So he donates to a home that helps down and out veterans. One time when he was called he meets Morgan. Morgan is a father to a young daughter whose mom overdosed and he needed help so he goes to the only place he can think of! I liked this story because it was a story of healing. And it was someone helping themselves get better but it was also allowing others help them and leaning on someone. I enjoyed this book and thought Cole and Morgan were cute! I recommend this book!

Nothing better than a single dad finding acceptance and love when he least expects it. Morgan has come to Guardian Hall for help, he and his baby girl need shelter and time to come to grips with her mother's death. What he is not expecting is Cole to become the white knight and help him go from destitute to making a plan for himself. Once again RJ Scott gives her readers not only lovable characters but a sense of self pride and doing the right thing for the right reasons. A wonderful addition to a fabulous series. Love these men!

Another fantastic addition to this series! I just cant put them down once I start reading.

Morgan needs help for himself and his baby daughter, and finds Cole at Guardian Hall.
This is a wonderful story of a single dad getting the help he needs to deal with loss and finding love along the way.

RJ manages to pull you into the characters stories from the begining and you just cant put the book down till you know how it ends.

These characters are very relatable and lovable. And I love the mix of old and new characters, this is a wonderful addition to a fabulous series.

An emotional hurt/comfort, single dad romance. The story follows Morgan, a veteran battling severe PTSD who becomes a single father after his  ex girlfriend passes away. He is an absolute wreck with incredibly delicate mental health, feeling completely unworthy when he seeks shelter at Guardian Hall. Cole, the sanctuary owner, quickly loses his heart to the fragile Morgan and his sweet baby girl. I loved that RJ doesn't rush the healing process, Morgan’s recovery was never going to be immediate. It is also a slow burn romance with incredible found family support. Cole never rushes Morgan, his patience is endless, as he waits for Cole to recover. You will definitely need tissues for this one! It’s such a moving read about survival, and finding your safe place. The ending is beautiful and incredibly uplifting. I love how supportive  everyone was, accepting Morgan and helping him in anyway they can.

A heartbreaking story of Morgan, a broken man doing his best to care for and protect his baby daughter Gabby, while trying to heal himself. Cole is wealthy but driven to help others and funds Guardian Hall. However, there are some things money cannot buy or fix. Morgan's struggles were brilliantly written and I was cheering for him as he rebuilt his life, cared for Gabby and fell in love with Cole. As always the story was well researched, the pain felt authentic and the struggles of a single parent trying their best resonated. Totally love this series.

It’s no secret that I am a huge RJ Scott fan. I love everything she writes even when it’s dark romance that’s not normally something I pick up to read. Happily for me, Always Enough is about as far from a dark romance as you can get. It’s a beautiful, sweet love story that broke me a little and then put me back together again. It’s also a slow-burn romance with relatively low spice but that was perfect for this single-dad story.

I loved how careful and patient Cole was with Morgan and how much he cared for Morgan’s daughter, Gabbi. I can’t say enough good things about Always Enough !

I really like it. It was very sweet and soft in spite of the themes in question, and I found it very endearing. I like how Morgan and Cole grow both as individual characters and as a couple. I also liked Gabbi and what she brought to the story, which is surprising because I'm not that into children and babies in my stories as they can detract from the relatiionship, but I didn't feel like that with Gabbi.

This is the third book in the Guardian Hall series. This series is about a halfway house for military veterans who need help. This was a great addition to the series. I really enjoyed this book as it involved a father, who thinks he is OK, arriving at Guardian Hall for his daughter. I enjoyed the slow burn in the romance. The characters were well developed and the pace was excellent. This book does tackle hard subjects, but is a great read.

All the care and support feelings in this one. Cole is a man with a big heart, but his heart might have just found it's special one and a special little girl too. My heart hurt for Morgan who could not even take care of himself at the beginning let alone Gabbi. He did the right thing and went Guardian Hall for help. It was lovely to see Cole realize how deep his feelings were becoming for Morgan, so far beyond just helping heal.

Very sweet

I really like this series. You can easily read this as a stand alone but there are other couples you will see. I love the healing and growth as the fore front to the heat or stram. I really enjoyed the single father aspect to this story, Morgan's character is broken and trying so hard to be a good dad.
