Vittoria DiSantis

With my mate now being human, and his memories of his life as a vampyr gone,
I have to make a choice - let him go so he's safe... or turn him and have him hate me.
Neither feels like the right choice.
So it must be his.
But we're so close to finding both Killian and the Shyfter King.

Ruby Darling is a small town Texas Native that reads too much Dark Fantasy Romance and sleeps too little, which has probably caused her to be delusional enough to create a world of her own. She hopes you have a great time under the glamour and in the veil.

a million star banger

Court of Chaos was such a satisfying conclusion to the House of Shadows series. This book took so many sharp turns, delivered some genuinely wild twists, and put these characters through enough pain that I was desperate to see how it would all come together. Ruby M. Darling absolutely stuck the landing.

What I loved most was how earned the ending felt. The revenge was warranted, and finally getting to see it play out was so satisfying. The mate situation also being fully settled gave this book exactly the kind of payoff I wanted. After everything these characters had been through, it felt like the story gave them the resolution they deserved without losing the intensity that made the series so addictive in the first place.

This book had the right balance of heat, hurt, longing, and plot. The spice was very good, but it never felt like that was all the story had to offer. There was still enough emotional weight, tension, and movement in the plot to keep everything feeling intense and fully engaging the whole way through.

I also loved how many side characters stood out in this one. There were so many moments where I found myself thinking I absolutely need their stories too. That is always one of my favorite signs that a series world really worked… when I finish one love story and immediately start wanting books for everyone orbiting around it. Percy’s story sounds so good. Yes, mother flipping please.

Overall, this was a really strong ending to the series and such a satisfying payoff to everything House of Shadows has been building. Well done, Ruby. I am absolutely so in love with this book.

Tropes: reverse harem, paranormal romance, vampires, shifters, werewolves, dark romance, fated mates, revenge, high heat, possessive MMCs, breeding, mmfmmmm, knotting, bi awakening.

I enjoyed this whole series so much.

Unlike so many books, these really dive into the characters in depth. They’re all unique which can be hard to achieve with a reverse harem.
They have their own histories and backstories, making them who they are in the present.

Vittoria is such little badass, she’s so feisty and powerful and she’s a treat to read.

Absolutely loved the ending and I want to know more about all the characters!

My gripe would be that the editing is pretty atrocious. Loads of grammatical errors and spelling.
But personally, I’m not the sort to leave a book because of this if the story is good.

Also - HOW DID HALEN BETRAY VITTORIA??? We never find out??

Ruby Darling is now a 1-click author for me. Stutter and Speak were 5 star reads and now this! My only issue was at times I felt like I was missing a whole other story with Halen and her men. I would love their origin story. The first half of this book was dealing with Evander, and once that was resolved, it kind of wasn't really acknowledged again. And I would have liked more with Killian. But apart from that, the spice was spicing and the plot was plotting! I like how we got POVs from other characters. I can definitely see more stories coming out of this world and I can't wait!

I was really looking forward to this one, but I ended up expecting more from the plot. While the emotional tension and drama were there, the story itself didn’t quite deliver the impact I was hoping for, and parts felt stretched without enough payoff. Still an engaging read and solid for the series—just not as strong or memorable as I wanted it to be.
