Synthia Brooks has never had it easy. Working a dead-end job that barely keeps the lights on, she’s tired of scraping by. Desperation pushes her to take a risk—one that backfires, leaving her neck-deep in debt and danger. With no one to turn to, she makes a deal with the Romelo Jones.
Romelo—better known as Rome— isn’t your average street hustler. He’s dangerous, ruthless, and undeniably magnetic. Helping Synthia started as a favor... but the way she moves, the fire in her eyes, and the curves that haunt his thoughts every night make it impossible to keep his distance. Rome has a a dangerous hustle with high stakes and a payoff he wants to taste more than money—he wants Synthia.
As they get closer, so does the heat. Synthia finds herself caught in his world, pulled into his orbit, and tangled in more than just the scheme. Every glance, every accidental touch, every whispered promise sets her body ablaze. Now, the lines between loyalty and lust blur as temptation grows too hard to resist. Rome knows he should walk away, but Synthia is a fire he’s willing to burn for. She’s in too deep. He’s in too far. And once they cross the line, there may be no going back.
In Too Deep is a sizzling, suspenseful urban romance where loyalty is tested, secrets unravel, and passion ignites in the most forbidden places.
This book as messy as it wants to be. Idk what I thought I was walking into but chile 🤦🏽♀️. This is a cheating trope which I don’t usually go for. There has to be a good reason. Rome ends up being unhinged. This gets spicy. I was warned and still wasn’t prepared. Comedic moments. Also this ends on a cliffhanger and now I’m stressed up.
This book started off with potential. I couldnt focus on the freaky bc it was too corny. I get being nasty...but this was just too much. And not in a good way. Then it was just unnecessarily over the top. And the cliffhanger was not needed. Just my opinion though...
In Too Deep by Juwell is one of those stories that grabs you with the tension first and the chemistry second. Synthia is tired, struggling, and backed into a corner where one desperate choice flips her whole life.
Then Rome steps in. Dangerous, magnetic, and the kind of man who should be a warning sign but somehow feels like a lifeline. What starts as a favor turns into something charged, thick with heat, and impossible to ignore. It’s lust wrapped in loyalty, danger laced with desire. Synthia gets pulled deeper into Rome’s world, and Rome gets pulled deeper into her, until neither of them can pretend it’s just business anymore.
And that cliffhanger… yeah, Juwell knew exactly what she was doing.
This man is CRAZY. Like, mentally, emotionally, spiritually unhinged… and somehow still fine. In love with one cousin, sleeping with another cousin, and got enough trauma to fill a whole therapist’s office. I don’t know whether I want to hug him, slap him, or pray for him. Probably all three.
One cousin is selfish as hell, don’t care about nobody but herself, treating her siblings like trash, worried about a birthday trip while babies out here hungry and homeless. Something off in her body, something off in her spirit, and something off in her heart. I can’t stand her, and the way she move just proves she just like her mama.
The other cousin? My heart broke for her. Mama gone, auntie never loved her, life been beating her down since she was little. Even at work they won’t give her hours because her supervisor jealous and petty. She can’t catch a break, and then here come this broken, fine, dangerous man dragging her deeper into the storm.
And when he put the gun to his head AGAIN?! I had to just sit there and stare at the wall. That cliffhanger was disrespectful. My anxiety went up, my chest got tight, and I’m over here whispering, “Lord, please don’t let this man pull the trigger.”
Then the fire, the little siblings hungry, scared, displaced, ending up at the selfish cousin’s house and she mad because it mess up her birthday plans? Yeah, no. That told me everything I needed to know about her character.
I like him and I don’t like him. I feel for him and I’m scared of him. I’m rooting for the girl with the broken childhood, and I’m side-eyeing everybody else.
This book had me stressed, emotional, confused, and completely hooked. I’m mad, I’m invested, and I’m already starting book two because ain’t no way I’m staying on that kind of cliff.
There was so much mess in this book and the last thing I wanted to deal with was a cliffhanger. I shouldn’t have been surprised though because the closer you get to the end the more stuff happens and you’re wondering how is it going to wrap up with 2 pages left. Rome was unapologetically himself and he didn’t deny it. He liked what he liked and was ok with paying for it. I love Synthia that’s all I have to say about her. Treece man listen she is the worst. Now I’m sitting here wishing part 2 drop so I can know how this will all play out. I never read a book by India and now I wanna just run through her catalog. She is messy, nasty and funny!
This is my first read with this author and I may try again, but I was not happy with the flow or arrangement of this series. Like Synthia's first time why is she surprised about Romelo's size when they've been having anal and they showered together?? This was like a constant error throughout the entire series. It made the story difficult and bothersome to follow because nothing is kept in order or structure flow. I gave grace in book one after that I was over it. I suggest the author reads her work and maybe do some corrections to make the story make better sense.
Romelo is obsessed with Synthia! He's with Treecee, but wants what he wants. She placed herself in a precarious position when she joined with Allen for a quick come up which resulted in her being held captive. Now he's obsessed with her sexually, physically and mentally. How will this end? We will have to keep reading, but one thing is for sure, this is not going to end well!!! Great read!!!
I have mixed feelings about this book. I really don’t even see Rome as a freaky person. He’s lowkey a weirdo lol. I don’t really believe this should’ve been left on a cliffhanger. He could’ve ended it all with Treecee. I understand she had his back but she proves time and time again she’s not gonna change. Keeping Syn hostage was crazy but I’ll see what happens in book two.
That cliffhanger though? Juwell, BABYYYYY you did that. Come back and finish this chaos immediately because I am locked in. This book was a messy, nasty, hilarious, chaotic ride and I loved every second.I'm definitely reading part two and diving into the rest of her catalog. She did her big one!
Juwell girl wtf was that ending!!!!! Ma’am what!!! The book was so good and then you leave a cliffhanger like that! Omg I need the next book now!! Like right now!! I liked Romelo and Juicy together!
Synthia Brooks the hood booster takes a chance to make a power move. It turns out to be a wild ride that links Romelo Jones and his unhinged behavior on her. How could something so good turn BAD so quickly ? Synthia girl you are playing with fire. Cliffhanger had me like😩….
He so mfn nasty de I mention he a freaky mfer dude crazy as a mfer some straight wrong but then he sweet like why the heck did I like this book like that then the cliff hanger like the heck umm yall READ THIS BOOK Rome well I feel like I earned to call him Romelo cuz baby
Great read definitely ready for the next book… started this one and couldn’t put it down until the end. First time reading anything from this author but will definitely be checking out more work.
I’m so proud of Ju’well! Her pen game gets better and better with each book. The character development and scene description is impressive. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for part 2!

This book started out interesting, then got boring and repetitive. Not to mention, the misused and incorrect words. Hopefully, the conclusion will make up for it.
