Left me with shattered dreams, a broken heart, and a secret I’ve carried in silence ever since.
I should’ve drowned in the storm.
But I rose from the wreckage with thunder in my chest, vengeance in my veins.
The Shae the world knew is gone.
And in her place stands Liv sharp-tongued, steel-spined, and colder than the empire she’s built from the ground up.
Alone.
He waited eight years to show his face—and now he thinks a few pretty words will be enough.
That he can charm me back into his bed.
That I’ll fall again.
But this isn’t college, and I’m not the same starry-eyed girl who gave him everything.
This? This is war.
I’ve already burned for Storm Sandoval.
But this time, I’ll light the match.
And he’ll be the one left in the ashes.
Between Passion and Part Two is the scorching sequel to a dark, emotionally gripping billionaire romance inspired by the Orisha of African mythology. It's a second-chance love story laced with secrets, obsession, and vengeance—where power shifts, and the one who was once destroyed returns to burn it all down.
Love stories that hurt, haunt, and heal. Unrepentant Rattie. Chronic overthinker. Queer she/they who loves a good four-letter word. Believer that crawfish is a primary food group.
OMGGGG. I thought Book One was fire… but part 2?? Ms. Angel said Ari “let me snatch your edges and emotions at the same time.” This book had me cryinggg!! screaming!! cheesing!! & punching the air!! Like omg!
I literally could not put this book down 😭 Like one second I’m pissed off at Storm for being so damn cold, and the next I’m crying like I personally went through that heartbreak with them. He had me in a chokehold. And Shae?? I was riding with her the whole way, even when she made the worst decisions..I didn’t care! That’s my girl and I stood beside her! Period 😂
This one really leaned into the dark romance side of the story, there’s action, tension, betrayal, and painnnn. It had me on the edge of my seat, especially near the end. I was lowkey bracing myself for a full breakdown. Lmaooo I was stressed!
Also shoutout to the Chicago setting again! I love reading books set in my city, and it felt so real recognizing the streets, neighborhoods, and spots they went to. That kind of detail makes the story hit different.
If you like your romance messy, raw, and full of emotional whiplash (in the best way), go read this series. Like now.
Part 1 have nothing on part 2 of this series! Baby when Storm said he’ll go to hell & back for Shaw he really meant and did that! And this man will live in my head rent free the way he showed up, showed out, shut shit down, & put my good sis wife Shae in her place, in the mattress, & on the biggest pedestal she didn’t know she could be on!!
Storm burned the city down to make sure Shae was protected & once her secret came out hell had no furry like a man with a family to protect! Lackland didn’t know there was a storm brewing with his name on it!!
It’s been a while since I stayed up late reading, but I one more chapter all the way to 2:30am trying to get more until my heart was full; and still went to bed thinking about Storm & Shae lol. The spice was spicing, the love was burning, & the revenge was thick!!
Can’t wait for an update on Storm, Shae, & Storms cousin because I have a feeling her story isn’t over yet!
Let me just say. I was never the biggest fan of Storm and that is okay. It wasn’t that he was an unlikable character I just didn’t care for him. But, I did enjoy the first book. It took me so long to get through this book. And where I know Angel Shaw attempted to make Schae stronger after everything she went through, from my perspective (my own opinion) I feel she actually came across weaker. She built this empire ( trying to become a billionaire) after heartbreak, graduation, giving birth, starting and growing a company, for herself and kids and then finds herself stepping back into the same mess dressed differently all because of the D. I can’t. There wasn’t any romance here. Not even from book one. Where is the banter, the connected compatibility and chemistry. (That wasn’t even a strong point in book one) Where is the courtship to make me fall in love with the man and see him like she does. It just felt so superficial as he is this dominant man who is a control freak that literally tells her she is GOING to have his babies. She is GOING to marry him. And it’s always about the D. But that can be found anywhere. I didn’t really get the connection. Part of me wished she dated Riale because he and Axel was more entertaining than Storm. I think I just liked the first book’s story better. For the record, I will give Mrs. Shaw her flowers. She is a good writer. I like her style, I just didn’t care too much for this story.
If you’ve been here for more than five seconds then you know I’m going to be honest in my review.
I read the first book because I saw a reel where a bookish girlie listed it as one of the more incredible reads she had done this year, so I was looking forward to reading the duo. I found the first book to be a little “draggy” in some parts, but I know it spent a lot of time laying the groundwork for the main characters, their relationship, and the intensity of what was to come.
This second book… I did not care for it. Compared to the world building and careful development of the first book, this one felt rushed — like, Game of Thrones season 8 rushed— and some of the events just felt like they were thrown in arbitrarily, as if to see how many things could be stuffed into the story.
Reading is obviously a very personal experience that is wide open to interpretation, so you never really know if you’ll enjoy something until you read it for yourself. I encourage you to give this duology a try for yourself, even though it was, ultimately, not for me.
Where to start with this one?! This one picked up from book one so seemlessly and had me questioning my life choices page by page!! The chokehold this book had me in was crazy and the way I really hated some of these characters is just a testament to Angels writing. 10/10 definitely recommend reading. The spice is on point, the plot and twists are *chefs kiss* and I can't wait for the next in the series.
I loved this book even more than book 1. It is intense with a lot of angst and intrigue. Both Shae and Storm are on the top of their games, but both in a dark place. That gets darker. A lot of suspense and tension. Ton of chemistry.
High stakes, too, but we get to see their fracture relationship heal in a way that feels organic.
I wasn’t expecting the plot twists and turns and the ending. I loved the push and pull from both characters from their uncertainties about their love. Even though we know Storm to mostly push and only push. I loved this book and the way it was written.
Book was just like the last one, long and drawn out. Definitely didn’t like how Shae was portrayed in the beginning, she was totally different from herself.

I already talked about book one, but this one? This book had me in a chokehold. I stayed up until 5:30am finishing it. Both books. 1,013 pages in less than 24 hours. I was NOT going to sleep without knowing how this ended.
This picks up years after Storm and Shae, and baby… if “I ain’t never getting over you” was a book? It would be this. The chemistry is still there. Stronger, deeper, more intense. You feel every bit of that history between them on the page. And yes Shae ate with that red dress honey!
And once again… the writing. The choices. The execution. The way this story is structured to keep you locked in and slightly stressed the entire time? Yeah… she did that.
There’s a TRUE villain in this one. Not surface level. Not convenient. The kind that makes you nervous for the characters.
And then there’s Isla Cara. Let’s just say… if you’ve paid attention to certain “files” that made headlines last year, the energy around that storyline is going to feel very familiar. Same kind of power, secrecy, and deeply unsettling control happening behind closed doors. (Yeah… those files.) It adds a layer to this story that makes everything feel heavier, more dangerous, and very real in a way I was not expecting.
My heart was racing.
I needed them to find their way back to each other. I needed that villain handled. I needed Isla Cara brought DOWN.
And I was not logging off until I got answers.
This duet has officially become one of my favorite reads of all time. I did NOT see that coming from a dark romance, but here we are. And now I’m sitting here wondering why nobody told me to read her sooner.
Five star duet. No notes. Go get it. Download it. Order it. Read it on KU. Do what you need to do. Because once people start talking about this series the way they should… it’s up.
Another book off the shelf. We keep reading with intention. 📚
This follow up was well needed and appreciated. Shae was deviststed by what Storm did. But she didn’t realize it was for her protection. And he didn’t even know she had the kids, it knew that what he did was right. The fell into step like nothing changed. But shae did not make it easy! So many emotions when reading this book. I loved it.
