"Are you Maeve, the flower ladų? My mum said only you could cure me."

The Trees Sing by Rishikesh Lokapure is a heartfelt collection of nine short stories about small, unnoticed moments of everyday life. It's nothing life-changing as such... Still, it's deep, profound and beautiful.

It's nothing extraordinary even... looks almost like a story book for kids. But once you flip its pages, you realise it's indeed a kiddish, cosy story book... for adults. You can't really hide your smiles and giggles.

The stories are short and slow, mostly about a few thoughts, a few events, or a few interactions. It's all about the beauty of simple everyday moments.

The characters are relatable and real (and all of them kind). There's no drama. Just ample time for you to pause and suck in the beauty.

I fell in love with not only the stories but the book itself. You don’t hear that often, right? I loved the presentation, with cute illustrations and beautiful font. And... what seemed like a colouring page, after each story.

The book doesn’t actually try to impress you. It just does. It's a perfect soul-soothing read.

The Trees Sing is for adults who miss the simplicity of storybooks, especially those who crave soft and soulful tales. If you enjoy quiet, reflective stories, you'll love this collection.

The only disappointment I have with this book is that it leaves you aching for more.

The Trees Sing: A collection of new-age short stories for you to Pause, Reflect and Connect

Rishikesh possesses a remarkable ability to illuminate the hidden depths within the ordinary. A fleeting glance, a forgotten memory, the rhythm of a simple task - each is treated with a delicate reverence, allowing the reader to observe the quiet epiphanies that often go unnoticed. The prose is understated yet rich, drawing you into the characters' inner landscapes with a gentle, persistent pull.

What makes The Trees Sing particularly resonant is its commitment to the "aha!" moments that arise from reflection rather than revelation. There are no dramatic twists, but rather a slow, satisfying dawning of understanding, much like watching a seed gradually sprout. This collection is a poignant reminder that true depth often resides not in the extraordinary but in the attentive observation of our own lived experiences. It's a book that encourages pause, contemplation, and a renewed appreciation for the quiet symphony of existence.

Eagerly waiting for the next!
