Falling for Lucifer

Rate this book
“He stepped into my life like an angel with the name of the devil…”
My love story started out as a lie.
Nobody should give birth alone, but there I was, seconds away from falling apart while my mother berated me on my life’s decisions.
Just when I couldn’t take my mother’s judgment anymore, he spoke up, claiming to be my baby daddy just to shut my mother up.
He wasn’t my baby daddy. His name was of the devil, but his eyes were kind. Far kinder than the man who got me pregnant. I’d never met Lucifer before that night. He just so happened to be there with his sister-in-law—my midwife.
But when he winked at me, letting me know he was on my side, I didn’t correct him. I didn’t correct him when he held my hand through the pain.
I didn’t correct him when he held my daughter like she was his. And I didn’t correct him when he kept showing up.
Now, I’m caught up in this charade with a fake boyfriend I wished like hell was real. My mother thinks I’m too good for him.
My father is suspicious of our union. My baby’s real father won’t let go of me.
But Lucifer? He wants to keep me and my baby safe. And for the first time in my life, I feel seen. I don’t feel alone. I feel protected.
His father gave him the name of the devil, but to me, he’s the answer to my prayers.

Let me start by saying—this book could’ve easily rated way higher if it weren’t for the lazy writing. Because Lucifer, aka Lu? Yeah, he’s a whole vibe.

We love a man who steps up—and baby, he’s not the stepdad, okay? He is the father. The vibes in this book had me turning pages from the jump. Lu saw Ello and knew he was a goner, and when he met baby Etta? We already knew what it was. Issa family! He was all in for both of them and wasn’t playing about his girls.

The fake relationship trope was super cute because Lu is a total cinnamon roll hero, and I love that for Ello. I really liked her too—she had been through it dealing with her mom, but she vowed to break that cycle and do better for her daughter. And I believed her. Lu’s relationship with his brother and sister-in-law was another highlight—definitely gave us a dose of dark humor (or whatever you wanna call it).

Now, back to my original point about the lazy writing. This book had so much potential, but it lacked proper development and depth. It could’ve easily been longer if it was fleshed out the way it needed to be. Both main characters felt surface-level, like I was just getting the outline of who they were, not the full picture.

There were so many important scenes that should’ve happened on-page—especially the transition from fake to real. That shift is the emotional core of this trope, and we needed to see it, not just be told it happened.

The relationship between Ello and her mother, and the subplot around her parents’ marriage? Sloppy. Those threads were dropped or wrapped up with no real care. It felt rushed, undercooked, and honestly? Lazy. And this isn’t my first read from this author, so I say this with love—this seems to be a pattern. The talent is there. But the follow-through? It’s giving “I ran out of steam.”

If I could rate this book based on the stepdaddy vibes alone, it would’ve been five stars easy. But I can’t. So here we are

4.5⭐️It was definitely fake daddy Lu for me! I’m a sucker for a fake dating trope, and brownie points when he decides the baby and the girl are his - whew! I enjoyed this book.

Lucifer was in from the jump

This was such a sweet insta-love. They just fell in love out of the most unlikely circumstances. Lu is what the people called him and Ello were such a vibe! This checked all my boxes, great dialogue, interesting support characters, strong MMC, and a FMC that allowed herself to fall in love. Chemistry off the chain, and a steady love. The toxic ex didn't hijack the story, the former street element did not control the story. Toxic mom, or overbearing siblings. All of the before mentioned was background noise for these two falling in love. So good, such a good read.

Lucifer was not the devil

Lucifer was nothing like his namesake when it included the two loves of his life. Don't get it twisted, he was a menace to society if that was his mission. Women love a man who stands in the gaps for her. The unscrupulous mom trope needs to take a back seat to real moms who love unconditionally.

This was a nice feel good love story. Lucifer (Lu) was definitely a teddy bear compared to his brother Hades (who still was on his best BS in this book as well lol). He was definitely a lover boy and I loved the way he showed up for Ello & Etta. (It was the affirmations for me🥰). I’m glad that Ello had Lu because her mama and her ex were putting her through it! And she needed someone to shower her with unconditional love. Also we love a good stepdaddy over here! I do wish that there was a tad bit more drama with the ex though. I feel like he got handled quickly and neatly and it was a missed opportunity for a little more tension building and for Lu to really show his crash out skills🤣With that said though again this was a nice love story, somewhat of a palate cleanser. I loved the couple together. They had lots of nice flirty banter.

Lucifer 💜💜

This was a good time! Who would’ve thought a helping hand would lead to finding the love of your life! You get all the feels with this read! Let’s chat!

Lucifer, was just that man. Now he wasn’t as bad as his brother Hades 🤣, but don’t underestimate him at all! He step up when he didn’t know he or she needed it. The instant attraction to Ellodie was what he expecting to happen. The way he felt he needed to protect her had me in awe from the jump! Then the instant love and needing to protect Etta made my heart melt 🥰! Only knowing her for a short time didn’t change what his heart wanted and needed! The BDE this man gave and how he stood 10 toes down for Ello and Etta! The affirmation this man spoke into Etta and Ello gave me life 🥰!

Ellodie, just a girl who wants to be loved and give love! She was dealing with the fact her mother truly disliked her and the man who she thought loved her didn’t . No woman should have to deal with any form of abuse and Ello was by her mother and her so called man Wes - mentally, emotionally and verbally. The creation of a child is done by a party of two not one. A day that was suppose to be a happy day, become a sad day until Lu entered the room. My girl wasn’t expecting an instant attraction and the support she received! Her mama though! I wanted to be added to the read just to give her the business 🤣! She was a hot mess and a horrible mother and a wife! The secrets that was expose only added to the feelings Ello had against her mother, but made it possible to build a better relationship with her dad! She and Lu was able to get the love and give the love they both wanted better yet deserve!

Hades, all I’m going to say is him still a mess but there’s one quote head me in tears laughing so hard - “Aye, I know this lady ain’t ’bout to call my brother a boy,” Hades barked, causing everyone in the church to look their way. “Hades,” Harley hissed, elbowing him in the ribs and hiding her face in embarrassment. He looked down at her with a frown. “What? I ain’t call her a female dog (but the other word). I got some respect for the Lord or whatever.” Even with him being a hot mess he loves his family down and played no games about them!

With this all being said, this read is a wonderful palette cleaner and one that would make your heart smile! Cyn has yet to disappoint!

Q: What do you do when a woman tells her mom you’re the father to her child, even though y’all are complete strangers?

A: Play Step daddii to her new born baby 😂😝🤦🏾‍♀️….

Lucifer, body guarding his pregnant sister in law goes into a hospital room her of client where the mother of the pregnant Ellodie, is berated her for just existing at this point 🤦🏾‍♀️. Lucifer steps in and Ello said this is the father we trying have our baby now get out!! Lord the can of worms did that decision open.

Ellodie was such a sweet person and I was so sad for her. I hate that her mother disliked her so much and was so jealous of her and her father’s relationship that she continued to step in between them and destroy their bond. I also feel like the father should have been a better man and put his foot down because he knew what she was doing and he allowed a lot of heartbreak that could have been avoided.

Lucifer was the epitome of calm, cool and collected. He was just as crazy as his brother Hades, but he was smoother with his crazy 😂😂. The way he took his time to help Ello and was a baby whisperer made me 1000 more sexxii. He stood by Ello side when her mother was trying to tear her down time and time again and stood up for her. This was suck a sweet read. And we all love a good step daddii!!!!

4🌟! Now why his name got to be Lucifer?! 😩

This book was so good! I love instant love and romance with a baby, so this gave me everything. Lucifer meeting Ellodie the day she gave birth was undoubtedly fated. Lucifer stepped up in a way that I knew he would be everything to Ellodie moving forward. Ellodie’s trauma was tough, and Lu experiences a tough lifwas well. Those parallels drew the couple even closer together. This was a good read, under 200 pages, and I’m excited to read more from this author! If you love books like Technical by Alexandria House, where the meeting is unexpected but the romance is a fairytale with a little more urban flair, this is a book that shares a similar trope of insta-love and a dad who steps up!

good read but felt glossed over

Fake dating turned real. I wish there was more chemistry built. Lu was just there always. Ello definitely needed somebody who didn’t play about her though and she got that through Lu. Lu didn’t play about Etta. There needed to be better explanation as to why her mom had issues with Ello. There were deep issues going on but everything felt surface level and skimmed over.

I wish the author had stated to read Hades first for more understanding and enjoyment. If there was no prenupt wouldn’t her mom get half?

I liked what we saw or Lucifer in Hades's book and was looking forward to his book. While it was good, it was also underwhelming. It kept me wanting more.

I wanted to see more of the transition from fake to real relationship with Lucifer and Ellodie, I wanted to see Ellodie hold both her mom and dad for how her mom treated her. The root cause of the issues Ellodie and her mom have didn't seem completely fleshed out but also quickly resolved.

I would have appreciated a longer book if it offered up a fuller story.

I ate this book up!! It was a great follow up to Hades! Lucifer was truly where he needed to be when it came to being there for Ellodie! Ellodie's mom was so hateful! She was truly one of those women who hated her child just because she was a girl. I hate how her dad was letting things just be until he got to his breaking point. Lucifer fell in love with Etta the moment he saw her, and I love that for him. I'm happy that he finally found love. And also, he came with the BDE very hard when the issue with Wes happened! I was also happy to see an update on Hades and Harley as well!

Great book and I will be getting a copy for my shelf!

Lu was an amazing man and I loved his character. From start to finish he stood on principle and being a good man. Lu was everything Ellodie and Etta needed and he showed her all the reasons why.

My only wish was that we had gotten an update on Ello’s patents when it did the 8yr jump in the epilogue. Outside of that enjoyed this beautiful story of love

I had an issue with calling the MMC Lucifer, so I called him Luke or Lu instead. It made things more digestible for me since the only other Lucifer I know is the fallen angel/devil. Which, “…she spent the few hours she had to herself thanking God for Lucifer” is a wild ass sentence out of context 😂 (page 103)

Anyway, this is the first book I’ve ever read by Cyn so I didn’t really know what to expect. I really enjoyed her writing style and the pacing throughout the story. This story has insta-love and fake dating, and I don’t remember seeing a trigger warning so here it is: there’s mention of DV.

I liked Lu and Ellodie. Even though the way they met was kinda unconventional, I thought it was cute. I also liked that Lu and Ellodie’s story wasn’t so sex focused. Sex was mentioned so little that I was a bit taken aback when Lu straight up asked Ellodie if she was cleared to let him dig out her poonani 😂

There’s a little bit of drama but not enough to cause a disruption between Lu and Ellodie when they finally get together. Lu handles business and wasn’t going to let anything or anyone get between him and Ellodie. Ellodie was also pretty protective of Lu, so they had a hella solid bond. Lu’s bond with Etta was really strong and precious too.

Lu is the brother of Hades from “Hades: An Underworld Love Story” (book number two in the BLP motorcycle series), so Hades and Harley make appearances throughout “Falling for Lucifer”. I haven’t read that book, but I just might go back to it. Hades is an interesting character and funny af. But anyway, Cyn provides enough detail in “Falling for Lucifer” that if you haven’t read the previous book, you still know how we got to where we are with the underworld siblings.

As for the ending, it was cute but I wish there was an update on if Ellodie continued to build a relationship with Alandria and whether or not Kamilah was still around. That was a pretty big storyline but had no closure.

Blossom out of his shell....

Ms. Cyn, I have read three books in your catalog so far, and each has intrigued me. I had to read this one since it was a spin-off of Hades. Speaking of Hades, he is the same in this book. His personality and demeanor give that I am not to be played with aura. I will say he most definitely loves his little brother and sister. He checked Lucifer for bruises and is a fully grown man.

I was ecstatic that Lucifer was able to blossom and come out of his shell. In a way, he was living in Hades' shadow. Him meeting Ellodie was more of a step towards being his own man than he initially realized. Ellodie opened up major doors in Lucifer life. She helped him become his own boss while building his legacy. Lucifer had someone in his corner who would stand behind his dreams. They say having a good woman in the right man life she will multiple everything he needs. Ellodie did just that because not only did she shower him with love, friendship, and support. In addition, she gave him his own family when she birthed their first child. Ellodie didn't have a choice in the matter her heart fell in love for her when it came to Lucifer.

Ladies and gents, this is a touching read because their is more than love that happens in this book. Other topics were approached in this book, for example, forgiveness, domestic violence, and parental abuse, among others. Cyn did a magnificent job with the plot of this masterpiece. Therefore, do not forget to download and purchase this powerful work of art.

Whew, what a treat getting to dive into Lucifer’s story! I was hoping he wasn’t as mean as Hades (LOL) and thank goodness, he wasn’t but don’t get it twisted, this man still knew when to step if the moment called for it. 👀

That chance meeting with Ellodie? Fate working overtime. The love between them was clear from the start, even if they both tried to deny it. Honestly, I’d call this an insta-love/fake dating vibe because honeyyy, it was love at first sight, but you know how these characters love to play games.

Now when all that mess came out about Ellodie’s mama… chileeee, I almost tossed my Kindle. She was acting all the way up and deserved a good kick to the shin. 😤 But what I really adored was how Lu stepped into that baby’s life without hesitation, accepting her as his from day one. My heart melted. ❤️

And don’t get me started on Wes. 🙄 Always ready to boss up on a woman, but the second Lucifer was in his face, all that bravado turned out to be fake as hell. Loved seeing him get checked.

Bottom line: I ate this book up and I think you will too! Add Falling for Lucifer to your TBR...you won’t regret it. But read Hades first lol

Too cute...

If I thought I loved Hades I definitely loved Lucifer even more.... I am so happy got the author of this story because baby Lucifer is a golden retriever..... That man stood by Ellodie through birth of a child that wasn't his. Pretended to fake date her and beat the baby daddy... All the while slowly falling in love with her. And I love that for that man he deserves so much love. With just the strength and the compassion that he poured back into her it was everything. Ellodie This was not doubt the best cards with her ex and her mom.... Literally the 2 of the most vile disgusting human beings on the Earth. I was so happy to see things unfold how they did because the mom really made me want to punch her in the face and off her a**. Wes got lucky that all he got was an ass beating and prison because if it was me he would've been 19ft deep in a hole somewhere.

Thank you to the author for writing this story because I know you didn't have to but we definitely appreciate it.

Lucifer and Ellodie!!

This was such a cute and amazing story that I couldn't put it down. Lu was instantly smitten with Ellodie when he met her while she was giving birth. Lu falling for Ellodie and her baby, Etta, was the cutest. He instantly stepped up to be what Ellodie required in her time of need. Getting to know one another caused real feelings to develop. Lu and Ellodie found kindred spirits in each other because neither of them had great childhood experiences with one of their parents. I'm glad that Lu handled Ellodie's ex. He was truly an awful individual who deserved everything that happened to him. Ellodie's mother, Kamilah, could kick rocks. All she was worried about was money and appearances. I was glad when she was finally put in her place. I loved her cousin, Yasmine, because she always had Ellodie's back. I'm hoping that she will get a chance to find her forever love as well. Hades was still Hades. He had me cracking up with his off the chain behavior. This is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end!!

LuLu is my man!!!!

On babysitting duty, Lucifer just plays bodyguard for his sister in law (strict orders from his big brother, Hades). He has no clue that the bodyguard job would turn him into insta-babydaddy. 🤭

Ellodie is in this by herself. Fresh out of an abusive relationship, she is ready to give her babygirl everything this world can offer. Until she needs protection that is. A strange, quiet but brooding man shows up and immediately commands the room. No one can treat her like trash in his presence. No one can make her cry in his presence. He gives her what she has never had…safety. Every fear she’s ever known is wrangled by his hand and he makes it known quickly that he’s not going anywhere.

Cyn did an amazing job giving us front row seats to Ellodie and Lucifer’s love story. Each complex characters, needing the other as a support when faced with overcoming abuse. I so enjoyed this read.

Ello was in a tough spot, full of nerves and about to give birth completely alone. Thank God Harley brought Lu with her, cause he was right on time. Although their initial meeting was a bit icy, as soon as Ello’s hatin’ ass momma came through, Lu was on the job.

Lucifer (Lu) they parents wrong as hell for giving them these names. 👀 Anywho, he is on a whole different spectrum than his brother Hades’ mean ass! Lu is kindhearted, and willing to play this game with Ello to help her save face. One could tell right away that it wouldn’t take long for them to fall. What is with these men allowing their wives to mistreat their daughters? Ughhh… 😤 Adorable story!

Lu x Ello - this was such a cute love story. There was minimal drama between the couple and I smiled so much while reading this.

Now that is not to say there weren’t some moments where other characters had drama with the MC specifically the trauma and drama Ello had to endure at the hands of her ex and her own mother. I’m so glad Lu was able to protect her but also give her the confidence to stand up for herself.

We see some scenes with Hades and Harley and let’s just say Hades is just as hilarious and dramatic as he was in his own story.

We love a HEA and our couple gets that in this story.

I enjoyed being back in the universe where Hades exists. Little brother Lucifer/Lu finds himself falling for one of Harley's patients...Ellodie. She needs someone in her life at this pivotal moment because her daughters father is trash, her mother is trash, and because her mother is trash she has a strained relationship with her father. Lucifer steps in at the perfect moment and changes everything for Ello and baby Etta. Honey, Lu picked up ALL THE PIECES! What Hades said about trash parents?? IYKYK. Hades still has no sense whatsoever and this was a good read. Pick it up, but read Hades: An Underworld Love Story first to see how this family rolls. Happy Reading Y'all!💋

Sensational

This story I didn't want to end! It was crazy how they met and Ellodie is the first to take charge.

They say a person knows shortly after meeting someone if they want to be with them m. I loved Lucifer he was hard but gentle with Ellodie and Etta, that melted my heart.

Its funny how they both had one harsh parent in their lives. Mama got hers in the end. I was shocked to see he had a side chick for so many years and she held on.

Who will get a story next from this crew?

I read Falling for Lucifer without reading his big brother’s book Hades first, and honestly—I don’t think I missed much. This one can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone.

From the very beginning, Lucifer felt protective of his Ello, even before truly knowing her. When he saw how poorly her mother treated her, he stepped in without hesitation. From that moment, he was ready to claim both her and her child as his own.

This is very much an instant-love romance, and I was here for it. Don’t we just love a MMC who is ready from day one, no hesitation, no second-guessing—just all in?

Falling for Lucifer

I gave this book a five star review because the storyline was very good. If you love an Alpha Male Character you will love Lucifer. The love and affection in this book is truly beautiful. It was a genuine pleasure to read, or perfectly fulfills its own genre goals, resulting in a compelling, immersive, and memorable experience. The book was enjoyable, well-written, emotionally resonant, and most definitely worthy of strong recommendation. Really it I was impressed with it.

4.5 🌟

My second book by this author and yeah I’m obsessed.

I really enjoy how she writes her men and women. It’s straight to the point , great paced and not too much spice.

I enjoyed Lu a lot he was like a nonchalant dominant dude. I enjoyed it heavyyyy. He was so calm and confident but not in a cringe way.

Ellodie was cutesy , sweet , and sometimes too soft but I loved her. She was trying to be strong enough for her and her daughter regardless of the circumstances.

I loved their dynamic and yes I’m petty no shade that half a star was took because she named that baby antoinetta.

Falling For Lucifer

Absolutely love, love me some Lucifer. He was sweet and calm, but don't get it twisted because he could become his namesake if necessary.

I'm happy he went with Harley to check on Ello. Meeting her changed his life. Both of them were looking for love and someone to combat the loneliness they felt often. So comforting Ello while she gave birth to Etta sealed the deal.

This was a beautiful story of love and healing. Great job!!!!

Nice, quick read

Falling for Lucifer was a quick read, but satisfying. I enjoyed the connection between Lu and Ellodie, they were very much in tune with each other from the very beginning. My only wish for this story would be for some type of resolution with Ellodie’s mom and for her ex to feel real pain and suffering for how he treated her throughout their relationship. Her mom, Kamilah, should have got her butt beat!

Ellodie had been through a lot with her ex and his abuse, but when she crossed paths with Lucifer her world seemed to shift. Lucifer was kinda of a loner with a sad childhood story just trying to figure out life, but when he seen Ellodie it was instant spark he knew he wanted her. He definitely applied pressure with Ellodie and showed what a real man is like. Happy they got their happily ever after at the end!
