Sweet Chaos #1

Rogue's Path

Rate this book
Rogue
The Children of Chaos Motorcycle Club is my life.
Riding the road is the one place I feel truly alive. But there’s a drug dealer who moved into town and started targeting kids. Together, my brothers and I are working to exterminate the problem. If it comes to an all-out war, we won’t back down.
There’s just one little problem…It started with a side op that I knew The Prez shouldn’t have accepted for the club. But what could go wrong protecting a few women at a bar?
Never again… Those women are wild and almost got us killed. To be fair, it was a decent bar fight. Now, all I can think about is a sexy brunette who keeps surprising me in the best ways. And kissing her…it’s going to get me in trouble.
I don’t need a woman filling my mind when I have murder on it, and I certainly don’t need her getting caught in the crossfire.

Dylan
Stalkers shouldn’t come with the job.
Fans, I love. Hate fans are kinda funny. Super fans, well, they’re the best. But a stalker…that’s where I put my foot down, quite literally, as I run away.
Which didn’t work out as well as I thought it would. Not that I was thinking much when I tossed some clothes in a bag and headed across the country. But at least I got to attend a pre-bachelorette party for one of my best friends. Isn’t it illegal not to do something crazy at one of those? I hope so, because kissing a biker certainly felt wild. We won’t even talk about the second kiss.
Now, I need to find a spot to hide from my stalker and avoid the bad boy biker’s kisses.

Rogue's Path is a no spice dark motorcycle club suspenseful romance, featuring steamy kisses with a decided lack of cursing and violence.

This book is my favorite so far by the Darklight Sisters. It was a true page turner, and I couldn’t put it down once I started. I can already tell this motorcycle club series is going to be one of my top favorites. But now I have to wait until next year for Havoc’s story!

Dylan is an author looking to add some fun to her life. She spends a weekend taking on dares and bar hopping with her friends, not realizing how much that one decision will change everything. In just one night, she meets the jet-setting Taylor, the protective Bear, and shares the kiss of her life with Rogue.

A girl can't have too many protectors, and Dylan definitely needs them. A stalker is getting closer, and her fear keeps growing. How long can she run before he finally catches up to her?

Luckily, she has choices. Taylor is easy to talk to and full of charm. Bear fits right in with her and her friends. But then there's Rogue, the man she can’t stop thinking about. Their chemistry is off the charts, and she can’t stop kissing him! Things between Dylan and Rogue start to get more serious, but also more confusing. What are they really to each other? Could they have something more? And if so, when should she tell Rogue about the stalker who’s slowly closing in?

I gave this a 4.5, rounded up to 5 stars!

This is a dark romance. The main male character is morally grey, so keep that in mind when choosing to read this series. It's still a closed-door romance. Just kisses, but amazing ones. No cursing and no graphic violence. There is attempted murder and some talk about it. The series centers around a dark motorcycle club.

I have had so much fun reading every book I've read by these authors. This book is a spin off from the Dark Love series, following a motorcycle gang.

I really enjoyed the romance and the background story that is connecting everything together from previous series. Even though there are tough topics in each book, I feel they're handled well and have a lighter tone throughout.

I especially love the heroes in these stories. Grumpy/sunshine, motorcycle dude with a heart of gold? Yes please. I can't wait to read the next one.

*thank you to the authors for a complimentary copy of this book to read. All thoughts are my own.

This was a really good no spice dark romance. This is book 1 of a spin off series but should be read after Dark Love and Dark Endures for the best chronological timeline reading. This is a motorcycle club series - which is hard to find in no spice romance. The murder, killing, and drugs were very much off page, and, while our hero is morally gray, that aspect has been toned down a bit. Our heroine is an author and she is very much in her head. Every time she looks around she’s imagining different murder thriller scenarios happening to those around her. A few times I had to reread the scene to verify whether she was really experiencing it or just imagining it. There is also a good chunk of this book that is spent bar hopping. I’m not in the drinking and bar scene, so this was very different for me. I couldn’t help but feel like every choice this group of women made was a terrible one. It also took a bit for our “kissing-a-stranger meet cute” to happen as she was interested in a couple different guys before she found him. However, this was a good read. I enjoyed the stalker thread and meeting a lot more characters for this series and seeing characters from Dark Love and Dark Endures. This is a just kisses romance, intimacy level 2. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

Content warnings: off page murder, killing, and drugs

I received an eARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Have you ever read a book that makes you want to get a tattoo? Well, let's just say that I want a tattoo of a peach now.

This book-this series-is all about the alpha male. Who doesn't love a take-charge kinda guy? And if that guy happens to be in a motorcycle club that's kinda like the mafia, but they're good guys? Even better.

Even when I'm not reading this book, I'm thinking about it. After I got done, I wanted to go back and read it again. The writing style is unique; I think in any other genre it'd feel choppy and disconnected. But it works in these books.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go talk to my brother about that peach tattoo. 😉

~I was given a complimentary copy of this book. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.~

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dylan and Rogue.
She’s a writer. He’s in a motorcycle club.

Clean, dark romance. No spice. Zero swearing.
This book was definitely on the edgy side, and I was here for it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Morally gray MMC.
He falls first.
Touch her and d!e.
Found family.
He has a nickname for her!

Great pacing. Full of suspense. Plus, the chemistry was SO good! But, I am a little greedy and wish they had spent more time together on page.

Check your triggers. But there’s nothing graphic.

This book is all the fun of a dark romance, a little suspense, and motorcycle club without any of the swearing or spice. This might be one of my new all time favorites because I LOVE Dylan that much!! She & I could be bffs in real life.

Thank you so much to the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book as an ARC! Having said that, this review is my complete honest thoughts.

Rogue’s Path was my first step back into dark romance since switching to closed-door romances only, and I couldn’t have picked a better book to dive into.

From the very first pages, the story pulled me in with its raw intensity and the MC backstory. The darker elements of danger, loyalty, and survival gave the book so much edge, but what really surprised me was how seamlessly the romance fit within that world while still staying clean. It kept all the sparks and tension without ever crossing the line, which made it such a refreshing take on the genre.

The relationship developed faster than I expected, but instead of taking away from the story, it actually made me more invested. By the time I reached the last page, I wasn’t ready for it to end. I wanted more of these characters, more of the chaos, and more of their connection.

If you have been curious about trying dark romance but prefer closed-door stories, Rogue’s Path is an excellent place to start. It is gritty, addictive, and leaves you eager for the rest of the Sweet Chaos series.

This book had my attention in a chokehold until the very last page! I mean seriously, who doesn’t love an introvert who kisses a random biker on a dare, a morally gray and super protective MMC that would literally unalive anyone who even looks at his woman sideways, and a creepy stalker that will have you questioning if roses are in fact romantic or not. I seriously can NOT wait to read book number two of this amazing series!

Dylan and Rogue are so adorable!! I love it when a guy falls without even realizing it. Every one of their interactions was so hilarious and entertaining. Dylan slowly but surely started stepping out of her comfort zone and I was here for it! We get to see Rogue's protective nature come out and dive deeper into their MC club.

The suspense kept me turning the page hoping for some clues and everything played out perfectly.

I love how Rora write dark romances with morally grey characters that have no true darkness to them. Forever one of my favorite dark romance with no spice author.

I loved the first 20% of this book. I felt like there was good chemistry, but then it quickly became difficult to keep all the character straight. I don’t think the whole Taylor situation was necessary. There was also no depth to the main characters relationship. They liked each other because they were good at kissing? Wtf. Also the whole relationship progressed super quick. And when the stalker finally showed up, there was barely a struggle. Home girl was somehow able to escape within like 5 minutes? I also HATED every single inner thought. Totally unnecessary. I’m grateful for the closed door aspect of this book, but everything else was bare minimum as far as keeping my attention. Also we never see more of her “best friend” after the bachelorette party. And WHY do they have 12 girls?! So unnecessary and just added a lot more confusion to who everyone was. What happened to Cornelia? I almost suspected her as the stalker because her character was a little too perfect. Overall do not recommend and probably won’t continue this series.

I have LOVED every book I’ve read from Rora Noir BUT she seriously outdid herself with Rogue’s Path. It’s her best work yet. My brain looked like this: 🤯🥰🥳

If you’ve never read a book from Rora Noir - START HERE! Yes, it’s so good that I’m breaking out all caps.

This book is literally proof that a story doesn’t need spice or explicit scenes or profanity to be completely captivating and absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to put down!

Reasons to read this book:

1. Rogue, our hot biker MMC. 🥵 He is protective, charming, loyal, and you could argue he is morally gray… but he seriously has a heart of gold and is a solidly good guy. I approve. 100%.

2. Dylan our FMC. 🫶🏻 Yes, she is a woman named Dylan. Yes, there is a story behind her name. 😁 BUT Rogue gives her the sweetest nickname, which I adore. 🫠 Dylan is an author with a brilliant mind, a great sense of humor, an unconquerable spirit, and a mean left hook. I would definitely want to be best friends with her in real life!

3. The romance between Dylan & Rogue is so swoony- I melted. 🫠

4. The suspense. I could NOT put this book down and devoured it in a day! 😮

5. The cover. Yes, judge this book by its cover because it’s so gorgeous I could frame it! 🌸

Expect:
💖 A meet kiss 💋 (one step hotter than a meet cute)
 Forced Proximity
💖 Protective MMC
💖 Protective FMC (YES! You kick those butts, girl!)
💖 One bed (all clothing stays on)
💖 One very special tattoo…

💋 Kisses only
🚫 No profanity
⚔️ PG level violence (no gore or graphic details)

Content: creepy stalker, threat of murder/suicide combo, off page murder, kidnapping, characters drugged with sedative, cadavers (forensics class), divorced parents, child’s death by drug overdose (off page), funerals, mention of various potential types of murder mystery plots, drunkness, bar fight, bombs, woman injured by boyfriend (stitches needed), mention of human trafficking, bombs

Note: The Motorcycle club in this book fights against darkness. So yes, there are dark themes yet the authors avoid glorifying violence and they never use gore or graphic details.

Rora Noir does it again. I devoured this book and loved every moment!

I absolutely loved Dylan and Rogue together. Not only did their banter make me smile the entire time but their chemistry was off the charts!

I loved that Rogue falls first and that he would do anything for Dylan, but at the same time is okay with her being stubborn and wanting to be independent too.

I loved Dylan for how her mind works and that she truly was an author through and through just watching her surroundings and seeing how it could fit into a book she could write. Seeing how her mind works was perfection and I loved that extra layer of getting to know her.

As always the twists, turns, mystery, and suspense kept me turning page after page. And I loved that with Rora Noir's books I truly am surprised at least once every book with something I just didn't see coming.

Though this can be read as a stand alone it is so much richer if you read Dark Love and Dark Endures before this one also by Rora Noir in the Sweet Atonement series.

Seriously you cannot go wrong with their books and they are some of my all time favorites!

Non descriptive Kissing
Zero Swearing
Triggers: Nothing graphic or gory but does deal with the darkness of life: physical abuse, murder, stalking, death etc

4.5 rounded up

The more I read from these authors, the more I enjoy them! I particularly appreciated Dylan's flow of thought and mental tangents, which kept me chuckling quite often.

Other times I was busting out laughing, like when Dylan met Taylor and Rogue, or with some of the characters' quips. (I'm totally "are you the hero or the villain?" as a pickup line or conversation starter sometime!) Honestly, I highlighted soooo many one-liners that I either thought were hilarious or made me swoon.

Speaking of swoon... if we could turn Rogue into a living, breathing man, I'd marry him in a hot second. Rogue can call me his old lady anytime!!

My only critique is that I felt the ending was quick. Especially with all the stories Dylan concocted throughout the book, I thought we'd get more detail about the stalker. BUT! Sometimes these authors bring out details in later books (like I'm sure we'll get with Rhys and Reaper), so it's possible we'll get more detail then?

Even with that, though, I still really enjoyed the book. It kept me entertained, laughing, and swooning. I love these morally gray men who are actually good, protective citizens. And I'm all about some kisses-only, dark romance books with mafia and motorcycle club men. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks so much to the authors for the chance to ARC read for you!

Rogue’s Path by Rora Noir is a dark romance with motorcycles, st4lkers, and tension galore.

Of course, I heard motorcycles, and leathers, that’s it. I’m hooked. We are following up on Rora Noir’s Sweet Atonement series, and from the first page you can’t help but read on. The author has a way of smooth writing that is easy and fun to read, though despite the heavy themes, it can’t help but feel cozy somehow. Though if I did have to say something in terms of constructive feedback, I feel like the stalker could have played up more.

It was a bit odd at times reading how the FMC bounced back and forth between the people she actually had a conversation with in the novel and with the MMC who she didn’t really have a conversation at all with… But regardless of that, it was fun to see the inner workings of the FMC and her “author” brain, and learn about a different “culture” that I wasn’t aware of. For sure, there was a bunch of vocabulary that I didn’t know, like “old lady.” That was pretty wild. But overall, in the end, the characters got to me, I confess.

If you want a dark romance with a motorcycle club, this is the one for you.

Thank you Rora Noir for the free book.

What I love most about this author’s mafia and motorcycle club stories is that these guys don’t play games when they love a woman! They say it like it is, they are fiercely protective and while they are morally grey, they are protecting the “good people”.

Other things of note for me:
- we jump right into the action first thing
- there is tonnes of dialogue (though occasionally that makes it a bit tricky to know who it is who said something)
- love how this series intersects with others (especially loved seeing Vex and Dahlia again!)
- the FMC is a mystery author and we get a peek into how her brain can come up any story idea from anything around her!
- it kept me on my toes because it has light suspense and the romance doesn’t follow typical romcom patterns
- instalove - they are falling for each other before they know a tonne about the other

Content: kisses only, no swearing, no violence

Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Thanks to the author for a copy of the book in exchange for a review.

oh man! I DEVOURED this book in less than 24 hours.

When I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about the book. The female lead has a fun stream-of-consciousness “style of writing” which is really fun. And she is a dark mystery author that knows a little bit about a lot of different things. I really enjoyed when she would brainstorm new book ideas using strangers around her for inspiration.

I LOVED our hyper protective male lead that was willing to 💀 to keep her safe and happy. This was my first book of Rora Noir’s that I have read but I love hypothesizing which characters in this book might be the stars of her other books. I NEED MORE! I loved how believable everyone was, i enjoyed how the author would skip unnecessary scenes (like uneventful/irrelevant meal breaks, etc).

Tropes: biker, introvert following dares, main character is an author, super protective MMC, independent FMC that can be taken care of by MMC, shared bed, morally grey character, brief love triangle. Intelligent characters with believable backgrounds and personalities.

Rogue’s Path by Rora Noir
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Book 1 in the series
She’s a writer and he is the VP of a Motorcycle club

About the Book:
He’s the VP of The Children of Chaos Motorcycle Club & she is a writer who comes to town for her friend's pre-bachelorette party. They meet at a bar when her friend dares her to kiss a random guy and she kisses him. They cant stop thinking about each other. They slowly get to know one another while she simultaneously is hiding from a stalker that she believes is trying to kill her.

My Thoughts:
I loved this story. I love how Dylans mind works. How she is always plotting her next book. I couldn't imagine thinking about these things nonstop, but thats just how she works. I love how Rogue was towards her. How protective he was. I generally don’t like Motorcycle club books because of how most are written & the shady stuff they can represent, but this one was fantastic.

Couple: Rogue & Dylan
Spice: None - Clean Romance - Kisses Only
Language: None
TW: Mentions abuse of women, stalking, & murder

Rora Noir really knows how to write these kind of romance stories, it keeps you hooked until the very end!

I loved Dylan and Rogue's different kind of personalities. They were complete opposites but they clicked so well with each other, and ended up having quite similar ideals, thoughts and opinions.

I do not know much about motorcycle clubs, but it was really interesting to read about Rogue and his brothers in the club and how much they were doing to protect their people.

I also loved that Dylan was a mystery writer. It was hilarious to read how she came up with different scenarios while watching other human beings go about their lives. Giving random people character traits according to what they were wearing, carrying or doing. Wondering if I ever ended up as a potential main character in an author's story :)

All in all, this was an amazing story, filled with amazing and diverse characters and a couple that has absolute chemistry from the very first moment they met.

4⭐️• kisses only • I really like this one!

My Thoughts:
I don’t know what it is but I just love an MC series. They’re so bingeable. And the mystery author FMC I love her so much. She’s weird in such a great way. Rogue was great but I kind of wanted a little more from him. I did love their dynamic with each other though. I loved the suspense and mystery aspect to this. Overall, I’d recommend this one for someone wanting a no spice MC romance.

Tropes:
- no spice MC romance
- opposites attract
- morally grey/protective MMC
- author FMC
- found family
- slow burn

CW:
- language: minimal adult language
- spice: kisses only
- mentions of murder, torture, stalking, bombs, alcohol, drugs and abduction.

I liked the story development, the fun way in which Dylan meets Rogue and cameo appearances by some of my favs from the Dark Love series. However, this story felt short and unfinished. It has a happy ending but some of the inner details were missing for me like the whole stalker thing, the whole Rhys and Reaper situation etc. I know the writer usually fleshes out details through several books so maybe I’ll feel more fulfilled when the next book is out but for now as a standalone, this is my review.

This is Dark Romance without spice at top tier. I really enjoyed this so much. It was super sweet to see characters from the previous books, I always like when the author gives us glimpses of past favourites couples. Now we all know that when a man gives his woman a nickname, he is definitely a goner for her, and we love a man that everyone can tell he loves his woman and he's proud to show it. I really liked how they got to know each other. So many beautiful parts, but I don't want to share spoilers.
I'm definitely becoming a fan girl of Rora Noir. keep up the excellent work ladies.

Long story short, I thought when I changed to closed door books I wouldn’t find another MC book series that I would fall in love with. I was so freaking wrong!!
First books in a series always seems a bit underwhelming because you are meeting everyone but nope not this book. You are in it to win it with the first chapter, yes you get to know more characters but you end up wanting them to be your friends.

So if you love your books to have laughter, a bit of mystery, inner dialogue, touch her and have a painful death and sass then you will need to read this book!

Rogue’s Path By Rora Noir is the newest clean dark romance book in the series. It’s the first of the Sweet Chaos series. I had a really good time with this book. You get all the elements of a morally grey MMC who’s protective of the Fmc. I love that that Dylan isn’t just a damsel in distress even though she might have those thoughts. She’s brave and speaks her mind. She’s a mystery thriller author who thinks too much in her own world. This books was so much fun and I was laughing and smiling while reading. I cannot wait to see what else is to come.

“Rogue eases our lips apart, and I want to yank his head back to mine. Wow, I’ve become violent. Addiction is scary.”

I am in love with the way Rora Noir writes dark romance! The way it sucks you in and doesn’t let go until the last page! 😱

I cannot get enough of Rogue and Dylan’s story! I was so invested, I didn’t want it to end!

I really enjoyed it!

Wasn't very sure where it was going when she started dating 3 people, BUT it thankfully her character held up and she did not cheat on multiple people.

Other than that, I really enjoyed their romance. It was really cute, I really liked the fact that they had a lot of stuff in common. It wasn't a "opposites attract" tropes and I liked that.

I read this book as an ARC. All thoughts are my own.

Not my favorite in the series but still good! There are some missing pieces but I think they’ll be finished in others of the series. It didn’t directly affect Dylan and Rogue so that’s why I’m cool with it haha. I do love their connection and the protectiveness of Rogue. And also a woman that can take care of her self but also allows her man to help her! Not often you see that in books.

I did receive this as an eARC and this is my honest opinion

An amazing book! There are definitely some dark elements to this book but it’s also full of heroes. A biker club that is as scary as can be but are the protectors of the innocent.

This book is part of an interconnected series but you don’t need to read the others to enjoy this book. I recommend this book if you love protective MMC and FMC that are tough. Definitely a good read! I can’t wait for the next book.
