She wants the freedom to practice medicine, and he needs a wife. But their bold escape from Boston’s high society rests on a marriage vow neither intended to make real.
Victoria Mountbatten has fought hard to earn her medical degree, but her powerful father uses his influence to block any doctor from hiring her. Faced with an ultimatum—marry a society gentleman or face disinheritance, Tori sees only one path to freedom. She makes a bold proposition to Dr. Harrison Blake, a colleague she's worked alongside for a plan that will take them far from Boston's stifling society.
Harrison Blake has always dreamed of building a hospital in the untamed West where he can truly help people. But his inheritance comes with a catch—he must marry before his thirtieth birthday. So even though Tori’s proposal is shocking, a marriage of convenience may be the perfect solution for both of them.
In the quiet moments of Harmony Springs, feelings grow and lines blur. Can their partnership blossom into true love, or will the walls around their hearts destroy the fragile trust they've built?
This is a five-star read that understands healing as something deeper than physical recovery. It honors covenant, vocation, and quiet faithfulness with integrity and grace. The final pages felt like a steady heartbeat settling into rhythm. Strong. Assured. At peace.
The marriage of convenience unfolds with remarkable care. This relationship grows through proximity, responsibility, and small mercies rather than dramatic declarations. The characters feel wholly human. Thoughtful. Guarded. Willing to do the next right thing even when clarity arrives slowly. Their affection develops through shared burdens and faithful obedience, which makes every emotional shift feel earned and honest.
Faith is not ornamental. Prayer, Scripture-shaped thinking, and submission to God’s timing are woven naturally into the narrative bloodstream. The story treats spiritual growth with seriousness and warmth, allowing belief to guide decisions rather than decorate them. The result feels reverent and grounded, never hurried.
From the opening pages, the historical medical setting feels lived-in and purposeful. The details carry weight without showmanship. Healing here is both profession and calling, practiced with steady hands and reverent restraint. Every scene feels calibrated, as if nothing is wasted. Each moment advances trust, deepens tenderness, and strengthens conviction.
What impressed me most was the author’s control. The writing carries a calm confidence that trusts the reader to notice nuance. The pacing breathes. The setting supports the story rather than competing with it. Even the title’s promise of “convenience” is gently redefined through sacrificial love and growing unity.
Highly recommended for readers who cherish clearly Christian historical romance or love marriage-of-convenience stories that unfold through responsibility, proximity, and steady devotion.
I received a digital ARC of this book from the publisher and Celebrate Lit Publicity Group. I am not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. This is my honest and unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on writing and story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.
The Doctor's Convenient Marriage is a historical fiction novel set in Boston. In the nineteenth century. This is my first time reading a book by Ms Keller but I will say I was very impressed. She managed to create a excellent storyline filled with exciting characters.
Anyways with this plot we are introduced to Victoria and Harrison who both work together as doctors. However, they both are being pressure by their families to find spouses otherwise they'll lose financial support from their families. They come up with a plan to marry but it will only be convenience.
Although as time goes on they later realize how much they truly care for each other.
This is the third and final book in the series. I love this entire series. I do recommend you read them in order due to spoilers. I absolutely loved this story! First of all it’s a Marriage of Convenience which is my favorite, and it is so well done! I loved Tori and Harrison! They are both doctors which is a fun element of the story. They agreed to a Marriage of Convenience because she needed to marry/escape from her father and was unable to be find a doctoring position. Harrison couldn’t recieve his inheritance unless he marry a socialite, and he dreamed to build a hospital. They move to Harmony Springs to start their marriage and hospital. Tori’s sister lives there too so it was fun to see her again and other characters from previous books. I loved watching Tori and Harrison work side by side with tending to the town. And also loved watching them fall in love. There is also a little bit of danger thrown into the mix too. And good Christian content! Overall, a great story and I definitely recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Content: an unwanted/forced kiss, death, blood, amputation
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
The Doctor’s Convenient Marriage was a super sweet, intriguing, small town western! I enjoyed the theme of what it is like to be known and the true meaning of love— it’s much more than romance. The plot has some familiar plot elements and tropes mixed with some super unique ones— such as thee being two doctors in need of a convenient arrangement! In a time where women were discouraged from further schooling and certainly medical school, this book was a delight! I always love when books show how some women in that time persevered through the societal barriers. Without them, we wouldn’t have what we have today, and the heroine in this book shows that!
I highly recommend to anyone looking for a sweet and clean western! Although a standalone novel, it is the third in this series, so I would read the first two books before this one, although the book does a wonderful job of explaining who everyone is. Five star read!
I received a copy from the author in exchange for honest review. A positive review was not required and all opinions are my own.
This is the third and last book in Keller’s Second Chances in Harmony Springs series. You will likely want to read the series in order, as many of the characters continue from book to book. I think this is my favorite of the three. Once again there are heart-wrenching plot twists, balanced by wonderful characters, good spiritual lessons learned by many of the characters, and hope for the future. I’m a bit sorry to say goodbye to this series.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
“If we join our lives, it’s to get something we both want. Love—or the idea of love—just complicates things.”
Victoria Mountbatten has a rather jaded view of marriage, but she knows what she wants out of life. Lauralyn Keller’s The Doctor’s Convenient Marriage, bk 3 of Second Chances in Harmony Springs, takes us on a delightful trip. I loved knowing where the story was headed (the marriage of convenience is sure to turn to love), but I had no idea of the harrowing route Tori and Harrison would travel to get there. And what a fun time I had, following this couple’s very bumpy journey!
Forced to marry to save their individual dreams, Tori and Harrison move to Harmony Springs to build a hospital and provide health care to the small late nineteenth century community. I could feel the freedom of the breeze, smell the clean air, see the wide stretches of rangeland that surround the town. And I could feel the deep disappointment Tori feels when many of the townsfolk do not consider her as capable a doctor as her husband. But this is where Harrison shines! He is so calming and reasonable as he talks Tori down from her quick temper. He complements Tori so well, but Tori is afraid to love. “How could she trust a husband to love her when her own father had failed to do so?” Harrison is so tender with Tori, yet Tori keeps pushing back against admitting that their relationship can be anything more than just a business arrangement.
My least fave characters are Ella and Tori’s parents. Which then makes my fave secondary characters be Harrison’s parents. They are so opposite the Mountbattens , and the Blakes genuinely love their adult children. But I wanted to cry for all the emotional abuse Ella and Tori had grown up enduring.
I enjoyed seeing the love of sisters played out between Ella and Tori. A sister is a treasure, for sure!
This tale flows smoothly, balancing Truth, lots of action, relationships, and meaningful conversations. I’d love to visit the town again.
I received a copy of the book from Celebrate Lit through BookFunnel. I also bought my own copy. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.
Notable Quotables:
“Justice is important… But there is something more important than justice… Love.” - Harrison
“Whatever you do, make sure any decisions made with a person are made with that person.” - Samuel
“If she let herself love him, he’d have the power to break her. Was love worth that risk?”
“Relationships are about honesty. There’s always some give and take. Nothing is going to be perfect. You have to decide what’s worth fighting for and what can be given up. “ - Travis
The Doctor's Convenient Marriage is the cutest marriage of convenience story!
Tori is an easy character to like and understand. She’s strong, feisty, and determined, working hard to show she’s a good doctor in a time when women weren’t as respected in the field. And then there’s Harrison, who quickly became my favorite. He’s a sweetheart and has such a caring and tender heart. I enjoyed their agreement and relationship and loved seeing how they grew and changed for the better.
Last year I read another great story by this author called The Reverend’s Second Chance. Now, after reading this sweet story, I’m hoisting this author onto my want-to-read list. The elements of faith are so appreciated in addition to the great storytelling.

The Doctor’s Convenient Marriage by Lauralyn Keller is a Christian Historical Romance. What happens when a brilliant young doctor risks everything for her freedom—and a driven physician needs a wife to claim his future? Sparks fly, hearts tremble, and destiny takes the reins in this sweeping historical romance that blends bold ambition with tender faith.
Victoria “Tori” Mountbatten refuses to let Boston’s rigid society define her future. She’s earned her medical degree through grit and sacrifice, only to have her powerful father slam every door shut. Faced with an impossible choice—marry for status or lose her inheritance—Tori does something daring. She proposes a marriage of convenience to the one man who might understand her dream of truly helping people.
Dr. Harrison Blake isn’t looking for romance—he’s chasing a calling. His inheritance depends on one simple condition: he must marry before he turns thirty. His real dream lies far beyond Boston, in the untamed West, where he longs to build a hospital and offer hope to those who need it most. Tori’s shocking proposal feels like the answer to both their problems.
So they run.
From the hushed ballrooms of high society to the wide-open promise of Harmony Springs, this story trades glittering chandeliers for starlit skies and polished manners for honest, hard-earned connection. What begins as a carefully crafted arrangement slowly unravels into something neither of them expected—real trust, real longing, and the terrifying possibility of real love.
The emotional tension simmers in every quiet moment: shared work in the infirmary, whispered prayers in the dark, and the fragile hope that maybe—just maybe—this “pretend” marriage could become something true.
Why This Story Will Steal Your Heart:
A fierce, trailblazing heroine fighting for her place in a man’s world A marriage-of-convenience romance that blooms with slow-burn intensity A frontier setting that feels alive with danger, promise, and purpose Faith woven gently into a story about calling, courage, and surrender This is the kind of book that pulls you in with bold choices and keeps you turning pages for the tender moments you don’t want to end. If you love historical romance with depth, heart, and a whisper of God’s guiding hand, this one belongs at the top of your TBR. 📖💛
So if you enjoy Christian Historical Romances, be sure to check out The Doctor’s Convenient Marriage by Lauralyn Keller.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
In this time period it was very hard for a woman to become a doctor. Tori has worked very hard to become a respected doctor but I think her father has something to do with her not moving forward in her career. It seems her parents think she should get married into a prominent upstanding family and stay at home. As we read more we discover that Tori’s relationship with her parents are very superficial on their part. Her father has said some painful words to Tori that has caused bitterness to set in her heart.
Harrison is someone that every mother would be thrilled to have as a son-in-law. He is kind, gentle and loves helping others. As a doctor he excels at giving medical care as well as showing compassion to others. He comes from money but does not share that information with many. I won’t go into details of how Tori and Harrison get together but God brought them together for a reason.
It was fun to read about their journey to open their own practice together and build a hospital. Reuniting with get sister gives Tori peace as she settles into her new life. There are a few unsettling moments in the story that added a bit of excitement to the story. One thing was evident though. Harrison has fallen in love with Tori but will she return the feelings? It is hard for Tori to love anyone and allow herself to believe she is worthy.
The author illustrates how unforgiveness can cause us to stumble in our walk with God. Tori has to decide if she will continue to allow her father to control her emotionally or will she be able to open her heart and let go of bitterness. When we don’t forgive it only hurts us because the other person has moved on. We are allowing them to still have control over us.
This is a very moving story with a few surprises. Faith is evident throughout the book as we follow Harrison and Tori on their journey. I like how the author doesn’t rush their relationship. Harrison is very patient with Tori and stands by her as she goes through a deeply emotional journey to forgiveness and finding love.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
I have really been enjoying my time in Harmony Springs, and I was so excited to get to read Victoria's story. After going to school to become a doctor, Victoria soon finds out that her father only indulged her, he was never planning on letting her become an actual doctor. No, his plans are to marry her off to a rich suitor that would preferably benefit himself. And her father is quite cruel; he intends to get his way no matter what. However, Victoria is not about to be controlled by her father or a husband, especially someone as despicable as her most current persistent suitor. So, she plans an escape like her elder sister. Except she plans on getting married first.
Harrison Blake's dream is to go West and set up his own practice and hospital. Except he is short on cash. He needs to marry to have access to his aunt's inheritance. But who would want to marry and move away from Boston all the way to Montana? Well, someone who wants to escape from a controlling family and be a respected doctor as well, that's who.
So, Harrison and Victoria take their marriage vows and their skills out west to be near Victoria's sister. Love in their marriage seems like it is a distant dream and luxury. Until it isn't. I enjoyed reading how their love story develops, their teamwork and respect for one another was there already. It was only natural that love would follow. Their companionship as doctors opened up their hearts as true marriage partners. Add a bit of danger and this was certainly a riveting read.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
With charming moments that evoke the sweet emotions of a Hallmark movie, The Doctor's Convenient Marriage by Lauralyn Keller delivers romantic vibes. From the opulent ballrooms of Boston to the peaceful town of Harmony Springs in Montana, Doctors Harrison and Victoria strive to achieve their dreams in a marriage based on convenience.
The characters' individual problems each uniquely colored the dynamics of the relationship. Tori, with her fierce determination to become a doctor in a man’s world, and Harrison, with his yearning for a love match with a woman fearful of emotion, at first seem an unlikely pair. The tension builds as the story unfolds, revealing the difficulties of medical life, especially on the frontier.
Despite a heartbreaking setback, the community's spirit of solidarity shines brightly as the story intricately explores themes of forgiveness, trust, and family dysfunction. Chapters reveal character growth, moving the story along with a steady rhythm. The ending throws a few pulse-stopping scenarios that catapult the book's closure. I appreciated the glimpse into this part of American history, when women had to fight to be anything more than mothers and wives. This novel is a sweet read exploring the vulnerabilities required for love to bloom, the risk necessary to chase dreams, and the faith needed to trust God in the midst of it all.
I received a complimentary copy from the author but was not required to leave a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
The Doctor’s Convenient Marriage is a wonderful marriage of convenience story that you’re going to want to read! I love a good marriage of convenience story. They’re fun, and you know they’re going to fall in love, but it’s the thrill of how and where life takes them.
Victoria, Tori, has worked very hard to get her degree as a Doctor. But now, how will she find work in her field? Her father uses his power to get everyone to keep from hiring her. She’s effectively blocked from working. How can she work around this? Her father also tells her she has to marry a man from society or risk being disinherited.
What is she to do?
Enter Harrison. He’s a doctor and from Boston, like her, but he dreams of starting his own business out west. Can he and Tori get along and work together?
Harrison also has a clause that he won’t get his inheritance if he doesn’t marry by age 30. So it’s to their mutual benefit to marry. But what comes after the marriage?
This was such a fun historical fiction novel. I loved the time period and the romance. This is the third book in a series as well. To avoid any spoilers, read this book in the order of the series!
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. What a poignant and sweet conclusion to the Second Chances in Harmony Springs series. Sorry to see it end, as I have enjoyed visiting the town of Harmony Springs and getting to know its characters. Victoria Mountbatten appeared in the first book which was her sister Ella’s story and I looked forward to reading about her in this book. This was a great marriage of convenience story as she and Harrison Blake, both doctors, had their own compelling reasons to marry. Watching their relationship go from business partners to more was both heart wrenching and emotional, and I thought the author did a beautiful job creating the interpersonal tension that gradually improved over the course of the book. There was a lovely spiritual thread that naturally applied to the characters’ lives, along with family drama, disgruntled townspeople and outside danger. While each book is its own complete story, I would recommend reading the series in order as the stories build on each other. I would love to see Harrison’s sister Temperance get her own story. If you love historical inspirational romance, definitely check out this series and this author’s books. Looking forward to seeing what she writes next!
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher. A positive review was not required and these are my own and honest opinions.
This is the 3rd and final book in the series. I would highly encourage a reader to read the other books ahead of this one because the other characters and their storylines will make more sense while reading this book. However, you can read this book as a standalone and probably figure out what is happening! It's just more enjoyable to read the others! This is a very enjoyable series! I loved the town of Harmony Springs. It is the type of western town where people come together to help each other and support each other in their times of need. Both Victoria and Harrison are doctors from Boston. They are born into wealthy families but have a desire to become doctors and serve their fellowman. That's ok for Harrison (but not necessary exactly) but certainly not ok for Victoria as she's a woman. They decide on a marriage of convenience to "get something from each other" and move to the town of Harmony Springs out west. They are good friends so it's not a hardship to be together, but could their marriage ever lead to...more? Their time in the west has many adventures that test their relationship and their personal character. The other people in the story are great too! It is a great story!
The Doctor's Convenient Marriage it the third book in the Second Chances in Harmony Springs series by Lauralyn Keller. Since there are characters from the previous book in this book, it is best to read the books in order. However, the author does a fantastic job of giving background information. Tori's parents have sent her to medical school to make her happy, yet when she graduates, her father makes it impossible for her to get a job. Instead, he wants her to marry who he chooses or she gets disinherited. Harrison must marry by his 30th birthday to inherit a very large sum of money. Together the two make a plan to marry and move to Harmony Springs to build a hospital and be doctors. But not everyone wants a hospital or a woman doctor in their town.
This is a well written story that is easy to read and enjoy. I enjoyed catching up with Tori's sister and her family and seeing how the community comes together when problems arise for the couple and their plans. I enjoyed the determination they have to follow through on their plans and how this makes their relationship strong. I also enjoyed the mystery and suspense surrounding his inheritance and the hospital.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book; this is my honest review.
The Doctor’s Convenient Marriage is written by Lauralyn Keller. This is book three in the Second Change in Harmony Springs series. While I have not read the whole series, I did not have any problems following along. Tori has worked hard to get her medical degree, but she has met a lot of resistance. This includes her father. He has blocked her from being any doctors hiring her. He does give her an ultimatum she needs to marry a society gentleman, or she will be disinherited. Tori finds a work around - so she seeks out the help of Dr. Harrison bake. She has worked alongside him. He is also facing some issues, he has to get married before his 30th birthday or he will not receive his inheritance. So they get married to solve both problems. I absolutely love marriages of conveniences. In this one, they move to Harmony Springs to start their married life together, and to fulfill Harrison’s dream to build a hospital. I loved seeing them navigate this new life. Both have to learn how to trust each other. This book is well written and the storyline is engaging. Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate LIt for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
Harrison and Tori need freedom for their dreams to be fulfilled: Tori from her controlling parents and Harrison from the stipulation on his inheritance. Their convenient marriage seems to put their plans in motion for dreams to come true. But then, dreams built on material things can crash and burn and what are they left with….each other. Through their trials and hardships, they learn they need each other and their marriage can be more than a contract.
I liked both Harrison and Tori; they are passionate about helping others and willing to fight for what is important. Harrison’s faith and calm nature balance out Tori’s impulsive tendencies and Tori’s humor helps Harrison not be so serious. Their commitment to their vows given before God made their story more moving and they chose to love each other. Theirs was a slow and sweet romance with a happy ending.
I enjoyed reading this novel. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.
I love how Tori and Harrison’s relationship grows so naturally — from simple friends, to supportive partners, to something more enduring— and I loved that their connection was built on respect, shared purpose, and kindness before romance.
It was wonderful reading about Tori’s journey as a doctor, a wife and an independent woman during that time period. I really appreciated how supportive and steady Harrison was as her partner and as her husband. There was so much warmth in their teamwork as they cared for patients and built something meaningful together.
The Harmony Springs community felt incredibly warm and welcoming. The story’s overall tone was heartfelt, comforting and hopeful. It reminds me of a warm drink and a cozy blanket, but in book form.
This is a great read If you enjoy historical romance with strong characters, tender themes, and a slow-burnIng lovethat feels sincere and real.

Victoria and Harrison are from Boston Socialite families. In rebellion to their families, they both became doctors and each had a dream. Women were not acceptable as doctors at that time and her father, unfeeling, was determined that she marry a Socialite man who happened to be an abusive cad. How Harrison and Tori escape to Harmony Springs is a satisfying story, as is their difficult love story. Danger, theft and pure struggles unfold. You have to love them both as they work it all out.
I received this book free from the author, publisher and CelebrateLit book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
A marriage of convenience trope has some predictability but this endearing tale also offers depth of character and internal growth as individuals and in their relationship. Victoria Mountbatten, a member of high society, has become a doctor, but she struggles to find acceptance from patients. Harrison Blake, her companion physician, is the only person who seems to respect and value her. Together they set off to build a hospital in the West to serve others. The author throws in surprises along the way that threaten their tenuous marriage and their efforts as doctors and also add more drama to the book. In addition, Victoria’s horrible parents add to the trauma. As we observe the authentic characters’ lives and personal interactions, it touches the readers’ heart and makes us want to do better in our own lives. This novel stands alone, but it concludes a touching series. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
Harrison and Victoria enjoyed working together but their lives had a lot of pressure from being in the elite group of society in Boston. Harrison wanted to fulfill his dream but his aunt had stipulations for his inheritance. Victoria father was sneaking and made sure his daughter would not be able to practice medicine even though she went through medical school. She was frustrated with her parents and what they expected of her. Would a marriage of convenience bring their dreams to fulfillment?
This historical fiction is set at a nice pace with unexpected turns and of course vindictive individuals. It was nice to catch up with the residents in Harmony Springs from the earlier books and find a gentle Christian message woven into the tale.
I received an advance copy of this book from Wild Heart Books without any obligation to write a positive review.
A marriage of convenience helped both of them solve their pending issues. The story of Harrison's and Tori's journey touched my heart. Even though they had some rough situations to go through, they faced them together.
The characters are strong, determined, and still contained hope for the future, even when things were at their worst. The story is uplifting and inspirational. The town's ability to stand behind Tori and Harrison is heartwarming.
The ending wrapped everything up nicely, but what is sad, is that this is the final book in the series. I really enjoyed the setting of Harmony Springs.
I received a complimentary copy from the author; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.
Welcome back to Harmony Springs where life is anything but boring. Back in Boston, we have two doctors that need something - will they be able to work together to solve both problems? It seems Harmony Springs has the answer.
A small town needs a doctor, so why not two for the price of one. Dr. Harrison Blake and Dr. Tori Blake work together to establish care for the town and surrounding area - but will they learn to care for each other as well? Plenty of excitement with a stagecoach accident, a robbery, a fire and more gives the ample chance. Overcoming fears and accepting the help of others brings lessons for both.
This copy of Second Chances in Harmony Springs Book 3 was received through Wild Heart Books and BookFunnel. These impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.
This is the third book in the Second Chances in Harmony Springs series. It delivers everything I love in a historical romance- the timeless charm of a marriage of convenience that slowly blossoms into something real and deeply earned. The book explores learning to love and trust again. The characters’ journeys remind us that vulnerability is not weakness but courage. Another theme woven through the story is the idea that the family you build can be even more meaningful than the one you’re born into. Harmony Springs shines as a community full of warmth and connection, proving that “chosen family” is a lifeline. The message of forgiveness also hit home. The book shows how holding onto anger or hurt only harms the one holding it, and how choosing forgiveness can free you to live fully.
This is the third book in the Second Chances in Harmony Springs series and brings everything to a conclusion. Take a step back to Boston in 1889 when women doctors were not readily accepted where we meet strong willed Victoria as she is trying to acquire a job after graduation. Difficult situations lead to difficult decisions that can be life altering but just maybe can turn out for the best possible outcome. When she and her friend Harrison go through with a marriage of convenience and travel to Harmony springs we get to see our old friends from previous books and feel like we are a part of it. This author has a way of drawing you into her stories and the characters lives and you don’t want to leave. The story flows and contains so many emotions as you endure the heartbreak, difficult situations, and joy as you read. I love the realistic characters and how they face circumstances with faith and determination. I really enjoyed this book and series and am sad it had to end. I highly recommend adding to your must read pile. I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit/author. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
I was swept away with Lauralyn Keller's new book, The Doctor's Convenient Marriage. While it was my first time to read anything by this author, I so enjoyed it that I'll be looking for additional titles in the future.
I loved the interaction between Victoria Mountbatten and Harrison Blake. Such a sweet romance that quickly draws you into the story and turning pages and before you know it, you've reached the end and find yourself longing for more. This is a book you won't want to miss!
~ While this book was provided for free, I was under no obligation to provide a favorable review. (2026)
What great characters. Victoria is a strong woman and refuses to cave to society’s requirements. Harrison has dreams but they are being dictated to by his aunt’s will. A marriage of convenience is proposed to help both of them. But can it?
Determination and hope will take them both a long way. But when tragedy strikes, and criminals are a foot, will they stay in their marriage of convenience or walk away?
It took a few chapters for me to get into the story, but once I did I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to write a review. All thoughts are my own.
The Doctor's Convenient Marriage (Second Chances in Harmony Springs Book 3) by Lauralyn Keller is my favorite of the series with this marriage of convenience. I liked how the doctors were both main characters, Victoria Mountbatten and Harrison Blake. With obstacles and hinderances facing them in Boston, Harmony Springs provided the means for them to achieve their goals and find friendship working together can lead to love. While there is some danger, the story mostly focuses on the day-to-day struggles of historical western life while practicing needed medicine. I fell for both main characters as they worked side by side in this story. God’s hand is definitely part of their story.
I enjoyed this book. I liked how Tori and Harrison started out wanting one thing but as things happened they found out what was most important. I liked seeing how they learned to face things together and to lean on each other. I liked seeing Tori learn to trust and to see good in men. I also liked how Harrison learned to rely more on others and to not have to do everything himself. I liked seeing the growth in these characters throughout this story.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
Such a wonderful book! Victoria has worked hard to become a physician but not one doctor will allow her to work with them; thanks to her father. Her father has given her an ultimatum. She is to marry into a wealthy family or be disinherited. Harrison Blake has been her colleague for a time and seems to be a kind man. When she learns of his needing a bride to gain his inheritance and the dream he has, they make a plan for a marriage of convenience. I highly recommend you read their story!
