For fans of Supernatural and American Horror Story, USA Today bestselling authors Meg Anne and K. Loraine are thrilled to bring you the final installment in the Mate Games Universe.
The Mate Apocalypse is a spicy paranormal series featuring morally gray heroes whose methods of protection aren't always above board. Not that you can expect much honor from a celibate recluse, an incubus rockstar, the original shadow daddy, and a grumpy ex-Spartan. They are the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, after all.

I will keep this one brief, as it was similar to the two previous books, and I feel like I've covered everything already in my previous reviews.
It’s time this series comes to an end. I loved the War and Pestilence series, and enjoyed the Death one, but this one struggles to hold my interest. This book is mostly smut, with a little side of plot, and what little plot we have does not make the story progress.
This book felt pointless. Half of the book is either the characters having sex, talking about it, or thinking about having sex. I will read the next book, because it is the last one in the series, and after reading about the Mate Games and the upcoming apocalypse for 15 books, I need to read the conclusion too, but I hope the next book will be the final one because this is starting to drag on.
Merri is finally aware of her role in the Apocalypse, and she deals with the news surprisingly well. Her reactions seem so juvenile at times; she is impulsive and does not always take the time to think. When she learns that she has to get pregnant to stop Lucifer’s plan, she is fine with it. She decides to roll with it and just have sex with all the Horsemen as often as possible to make it happen. Still, when they hurt her feelings, she is willing to evade them and spend the rest of her life on the run to avoid Lucifer, implying that it would be miserable, but not as bad as staying with guys who hurt her feelings. This part felt so immature and in opposition to the more self-sacrificing part of her that was willing to get pregnant to save the world.
The guys remain rather bland and interchangeable. Sure, they each have their little quirks, but I still maintain that Chaos and Malice feel the same, that Grim's only defining trait is his grumpiness, while Sin's is his bubbliness.
Even Lucifer and his minions were disappointing. Lucifer was not so bad, but his princes acted like spoiled brats and/or buffoons. I imagine the authors wanted to add some comedy to the book with them, but in my opinion, it was a failure. Instead of being funny, they appeared incompetent and dumb and made me roll my eyes.
Christian remains a wild card in this series. He seems nice and like he genuinely wants to help Merri, but I can’t help being suspicious and doubting his intentions. Cole was also a mystery that was solved at the end of the book, but I was not shocked or surprised by the twist about him.
Luc’s identity is finally revealed, but it was not a surprise, to be honest. I saw it coming from miles away, and I do think that Merri was a little naïve to think he was only a figment of her imagination after learning everything she could do in dreams, and how it affected her powers. I know if it were me, I would have been more paranoid about people interacting with me in my dreams.
That ending rocked my world, it was something I was hoping would happen, but even when I was expecting it, I still ended up being surprised at how it came about (thanks to that bonus content).
If I could be a fly on the wall (or better yet, Merri) right now...
Anyway, there are a few things I'd like to focus on, first and foremost, PUFFINS!!! That was the cutest thing everrrrr, now I need them to appear outside of a dream sequence, and for Asher to adopt one. I'm not asking for much, I swear. And the Operation Puffin scenes were brilliant, as always. PLEASE DON'T LET THIS BE IT, I NEED MORE TRANSMISSIONS LIKE I NEED AIR!!!
This leads me to the biggest crossover so far, with pretty much everybody from the past series meeting face to face. My life? Made.
What makes it even better is that we got to see my favourite book man, Nord, in there too. I missed him and Lina so much. That quote at the start about him being so hot he could melt the polar ice caps had me hollering. It's so true.
Next up Malice, who finally got his time to shine, and Grim, who delivered well beyond my wildest dreams. Horseman favorites list: secured. The hottest scenes in the book were theirs, hands down.
All four of them got a lot of relationship development, getting to an interesting (and logical) point, until one of them decided to open his big mouth...
I'm not that mad though!! Solely because of where the book ended, in any other timeline I'd be extremely upset. Like, you guys didn't see the signs? Not one of you? It took Merri pointing it out for y'all to put your thinking caps on? My word.
No wonder Luc is my fav, that man knows how to PLAN. I admire his commitment to fulfilling his destiny, honestly. I wish he had even more chapters. Mayhaps we'll get some more in book four, it would be the perfect time.
One character I also wish we got more of, is Andi. It makes sense why we didn't see her for most of the book, but I'm gonna need Merri to make things right between them STAT. If there's one thing she needs in her life right now, it's a ride-or-die best friend.
But yeah, I have never wanted to throw a bag of marbles on the floor and watch certain characters scramble as much as I have in that scene where Death said what he said. AND, he'd have to pick up all the marbles afterwards, that would teach him. Hmph.
The wait between books 2 and 3 was gonna end me, I was suffering. Please don't make us wait that long for book 4!!! Especially with that juicy cliffhanger you left us on, okay? Okay.
As for you, reading this review, don't ask any questions, just go get all the audiobooks and come back here when you're done. You haven't listened to a better cast in your life, they'll make the story feel so alive. Go do it now!!!
*Thank you to the authors for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
I'm still reeling over that ending. 🤯 I need the next book stat.
If you enjoy fantasy with high spice, you will definitely love this series. The audiobook contains a full cast and all of the characters shine through with amazing personalities.
I loved all of the character growth in this one, plus we also got a lot of questions answered.
You get: • Dark Fantasy • Spicy • Fated Mates • Apocalypse • Saving The World • The Four Horseman • Cliffhanger
I'm looking forward to the next book! Available on KU, ebook, paperback, and audiobook.
Firstly, that breeding kinkery was on 10 thousand and I was delightfully warmed from the inside out and looooving every single fantastically filthy second.
BUT, I cannot even revel in all the giddiness of the spice, breeding kinks, shadow daddy shenanigans, beloved cameos and every single delectable thing this book had to offer brought me cause I am absolutely SICK after this cliff and that twist at the end. Laawd whyyy?! Like how I am supposed to go on knowing the end is nowhere near with two more books left!? My heart cannot handle it. Kim and Meg WTAF!? Yall are just diabolical.😩
The cherry on top of this indescribably delicious cake is the full cast performance by Stella Hunter, Jason Clarke, J.f. Harding, James Joseph, Shane East…featuring Teddy Hamilton and Christian Fox and Lauren Landa and cameos from John Hartley and Samantha Brentmoor! Talk about an absolute aural masterpiece!
** Audio Review ** The twists and the heat keep coming! Malice by K. Loraine and Meg Anne was a wild, steamy why-choose paranormal romance that had me laughing, blushing profusely, and a bit anxious from start to finish. I mean, we are talking about the Apocalypse here! Merri and her four horsemen’s journey to stop Lucifer and all his minions. Each book in this series keeps getting better and better, and I’m here for it!
This multicast full of so many talented voice actors continues to shock and awe me with their entertaining and entrancing performances. Performed in duet-style narration with many audio enhancements make this audiobook a truly immersive experience. Stella Hunter’s performance of Merri makes me fall a little bit harder for her determination and her bravery to save the world. James Joseph conveyed Malice’s new insight while Shane East’s portrayal of Grim unlocked new shadowy fantasies. Jason Clarke’s growl was strong in this one, showing Chaos’ possessive side, while JF Harding’s confident tone for Sin was endearing and enticing. Teddy Hamilton’s performance of Asher helped lighten the mood during intense moments. Christian Fox was born to play Lucifer, exuding his arrogance perfectly. There are also so many exciting cameo performances from other narrators and past beloved characters that make this audiobook a true work of art!
Overall, I LOVED this book. If you are a fan of a paranormal why choose romance with a strong, passionate succubus finding her power, four loyal protective horsemen with the same goal, Lilith appearances, Hades' wisdom, Merri in lust spice, sexy dream walks, plotting, teamwork, Daddy Death keeping watch, secrets revealed, breeding kink, jealousy, the end of the world drawing near, and another jaw dropping ending that will once again leave you eager for more, then you will love Malice, book three, in the Mate Games Apocalypse. I can’t wait for more!
If this world was real, it would be a hand necklace and have a choke hold on me for sure. “Malice” is a steamy, thrilling and action packed third installment of “The Mate Games: Apocalypse” that had me listening nonstop.
Picking up right where the last book left off, Merri and the Four Horsemen are trying to stop Lucifer from overtaking the world and starting an apocalypse. Lucifer is set on making Merri his because she’s a succubus and will carry the child to start the apocalypse. And the only way to stop him is for Merri to become pregnant and the four horsemen are determined to make sure that Lucifer doesn’t win.
The story starts at 100 MPH and doesn’t let up at all. Merri is amazing and has so much going on with being a succubus and trying to save the world. There is so much going on and I never felt lost as I was listening. Each of the four horsemen brought something different to the table and I loved that we got to know Malice better and figure out his history. He’s grumpy, protective but has the biggest soft spot for Merri. We also learned more about the other horsemen and that made me love them even more. The steamy scenes were steamy and I was a huge fan of the group scene they had. Meg Anne and K. Lorraine delivers with the action and non stop plot twists. Just when I thought I had it figured out, they threw something new at me. And we get some appearances from my favorite characters from the Mate Games because they are in it just as much as Merri and the four horsemen. The ending had me shocked and I cannot wait to see how this series is wrapped up in the next book.
This cast is truly an all-star cast and brings it all to their narration. Stella Hunter, Shane East, J.F. Harding, Jason Clarke, James Joseph, Teddy Hamilton and Christian Fox are all amazing at their narrations. Each brings the passion, action and chemistry of each character to life perfectly.
Thank you to Kim Loraine and Meg Anne for the opportunity to be apart of the ALC team for this epic book/audio. This interconnected world that Meg Anne and k.lorraine have created Is a series reader's/listeners wet dream. 💦
⚠️WARNING! WARNING!⚠️ This book will take you on one hell of a ride! The cliff hanger will leave you feeling like the world is ending🌋💥😉😉 The breeding kink in this book is positively delicious! Thigh clenching 😉
Malice is book three of the interconnected series which is part of a bigger universe where you meet characters from all the different books throughout which is amazeballs. To say I was hooked from the very first book in this fantastic universe that is “the mate games” is an understatement I am obsessed, addicted , someone call a doctor! what kind of drugs are they using!!
Listening to this series takes the books to a whole new level……🔥You feel Every gasp & moan, every whispered threat, every f-r-e-a-k-I-n-g toe curling growl……absolute fanny flutters!!! the amazing cast done an epic job !!! Honestly this is voice acting at its freaking finest!!!!
I need to take a moment to absa-f**king-lutly swoon after chaos!!! My Fellow ARC/ALC peeps will know why!!! (Chapter23) 😍 I love all of our MMC’s but oh Lord….or should I say Lucifer🤔 Daddy death you have been a very bad, bad boy!!! What have you done! To say this book has left me eagerly wanting more is an under-freaking-statement! But I will be a very good girl and patiently wait for the next one!
Thank you to Kim Loraine and Meg Anne for the opportunity to ARC read again - I had the best time.
Oh my god. Or Lucifer. I don’t know who to be praying to right now, because this BOOK, y’all! I needed a minute to catch my breath after finishing it. To be back in the Mate Games universe is always unbelievably fun with the biggest gasp inducing moments and swoony (horse)men.
Now as much as I love the boys, I could absolutely smack them silly for how blind and narrow minded they can be! For me, the sign of an engaging and well written book is being able to love these characters more than life itself, and still be shocked by the choices and decisions they make.
This book will have you clutching your pearls one second and then immediately holding your breath in anticipation for the next twist! The rollercoaster ride of my emotions is nothing new when it comes to this universe but I’m always so surprised when Kim and Meg manage to have me second guessing everything I ever thought I knew about this world and the characters in it.
I can’t say too much, obviously, because this is book 3 of series 4 but just know if you choose to go into this series, you’re going to have the most heart-stopping good time.
As usual, a special mention for our FMC, Merri. I love you girl - you deserve better than what you’ve been given.
Merri seems so juvenile. Every little thing throws her off course. Her inability to accept her reality as she perceives it drives me nuts. So she’s in love with the four horsemen. Two have declared they love her back but no, that’s not good enough. It’s all or nothing for our girl. She’s such a special snowflake and has to shield her tender little feelings. Saving the world? Perish the thought. If Merri’s not happy then to hell (heh) with everybody else.
Christian is still a wild card but Cole’s intentions come to light.
Six of the seven (I think that’s the right number) princes have answered Lucifer’s call and the world is crumbling. This is a really huge deal yet it is almost mentioned as an afterthought. Much more time is spent on Merri and her boys fucking or examining their emotional doubts.
Three books down with two to go. I don’t hate this but there seems to be more repetition than new aspects to the plot.
Another amazing installment of the Apocalypse world. This one? We get to see the other members from past Mate Games as well so be ready for some fun cameos....and if you can? Download the audiobook because the full cast narration is absolutely yummy and makes you feel like you are right there with them. The story picks up without missing anything, and the heat is off the charts, but....the Horsemen have some serious issues that they need to overcome. And not sure if they will figure it out before it's too late
Every installment of The Mate Games never fails to make laugh and make me hot; sometimes at the same time. If you have a breeding kink and an attraction to shadow daddies that can touch you without touching you, an incubus into role play, broody and attentive mates, this is for you. Also to mention, there is dream fucking, mind seduction, manipulation, and twists that’ll leave you wanting more. I can’t get enough of this series, and the multicast duet performance always kills the game!
The End Is Near… While Meg and the Four Horsemen grow closer as they aim to procreate, the world around them is ending. Oceans turn to acid, volcanos erupt, demons appear - very end-days Revelations. While there felt like not a lot of story progression until the end, I still really enjoyed the sweet and spicy moments Merri had with Sin, Malice, Chaos and Grim. And that ending - AHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Malice is Book 3 in The Mate Games Apocalypse. It continues where book 2 ended. I loved the story so much! It's both plot and character driven. Things are starting to come to light. Truths are revealed. The revelations are now becoming aware to the other guys. Merri's relationship with the guys is becoming stronger as they continue to face obstacle after obstacle. The ending sets up the next book in the series. Looking forward to seeing how everything plays out.
As for the audiobook narration, it's amazing! Performed in duet with a multicast including Stella Hunter, Shane East, James Joseph, Jason Clarke, JF Harding and featuring Teddy Hamilton and Christian Fox. This whole cast is exceptional with their talent. This newest addition to the Mate Games is action packed and never a dull moment. Stella, James, Jason, JF, Teddy and Christian really embodied their characters and their personalities. They conveyed this with expressive tones. If you loved the previous books in this series you will love this one!
Audiobook out now!
Thank you to @mustloveaudio for my ALC and for the opportunity to review and listen.
I keep recommending this book to my friends and some still haven’t started it and it’s becoming a little bit unforgivable. Book 3 of series 4 and it’s still SO GOOD!!! I don’t know how Kim and Meg do it, but the story is still fun, engaging, and fresh. Malice brings us to a showdown with Lucifer and maybe, finally, an actual apocalypse in a series that has continuously thwarted them. I sure hope not, but this is definitely the closest the series has flirted with one!
The Mate Games still sets the highest bar for full cast, duet narration. Stella Hunter, Shane East, J.F. Harding, Jason Clarke, James Joseph are joined by Teddy Hamilton and Christian Fox to bring this full cast of characters to life. A lot of these narrators have been with this series since the beginning. Their comfort with the characters, world, and each other shines through. Their chemistry and familiarity with each other’s narration styles delivers a flawless performance.
I’m so excited for the next book!! This one ended with a wee bit of a cliffhanger. I’m a bit mad at the horsemen. A bit of a classic miscommunication trope that’s got me fuming BUT I know it’ll work out. Right? It has to. Right?
As expected, this was deliciously addictive and packed with the emotional chaos and perfect chemistry that The Mate Games universe is famous for. The ending had me gasping like I’d just been personally betrayed. And the spice? Let’s just say I should know better by now than to listen in public. But I did it anyway—sat slack-jawed in the aisle seat on a 9-hour flight. Meg Anne and K. Lorraine still manage to balance that laugh-out-loud banter with heartbreakingly raw moments. Every time I think I’ve peaked with how obsessed I can be with The Mate Games universe, the next book just pulls me deeper. If you’re considering picking this one up, just do it. Clear your schedule already.
❤️🔥MALICE❤️🔥 The Mate Games: Apocalypse - Book 3 By: K. Loraine & Meg Anne
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Star Review 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ 5/5 Spice Level
Thank you Meg Anne and BookSprout for allowing me access to this eARC!! Thank you! Thank you!!
I LOVE ALL OF THE MATE GAMES BOOKS!!! This one is SOOOO GOOD & just as good as the rest of them!!!
Malice is a Romantasy (part of a larger series which must be read in order!). The POV alternates between all the main characters and there are a few chapters with the POV of characters from previous series from the Mate Games world. Tropes include reverse harem/why choose, shadow daddy, fated mates (maybe??), magical characters like demons, angels, the literal devil himself, witches, & there is dreamwalking, forced proximity, apocalyptic world, natural disasters and many others I have not listed! Ends in another rather brutal cliffhanger!!!
This is one of many books in the Mate Games world. The entire story is split up into multiple series which needs to be read in order of release. All are Why Choose/ Reverse Harem. So, the first series is The Mate Games: War, which consists of 4 books and a Novella. Then it goes to The Mate Games: Pestilence, which also consists of 4 books and a Novella. Next is The Mate Games: Death, which consists of 4 books.
Now we are here, The Mate Games: Apocalypse Book 3 (of 5) - MALICE. This is book 3 of the story about a succubus, the FMC - Meredith Anne Devereaux (Merri), & the MMC’s who are the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Death AKA Grimsby (Grim), War AKA Chaos, Pestilence AKA Malice (Mal) & Famine AKA Sinclair (Sin) and I am thinking I may need to add Lucifer (Luc) as another MMC? After being persuaded by the demon boss lady Lilith in book 1, the guys are trying to stop the Apocalypse by getting Merri pregnant before Lucifer can get her pregnant (which would officially be the end of the world if she births the Antichrist fathered by Lucifer). If one of the Four can get her pregnant first, they would win by stopping this apocalypse. Lucifer wants his vessel and will not stop trying to get to her. The end is creeping closer and closer, things are getting more and more serious, and time is of the essence. It makes you want to grab all of the main characters by their beautiful, stubborn faces and yell at them to just see the whole picture we as the readers can see and tell them what needs to be done! But of course that can’t happen, so we must just see how it all unfolds like the authors want us to, all chaotic and stressful and torturing us with it. I am loving it, the edge of your seat suspense of it all! I have wondered, with the natural disaster side of things, if my family and I would be some of the survivors out there in the wild with no electrical grid amongst the apocalyptic chaos?!
After the angst and slooooow burn of the previous book, this book kicks the spice WAY up! The spice in this book is sooooo good, as are all of the books in this whole story (and by these authors!)! Feelings started becoming evident in the previous book and those just keep growing all throughout this one!! Merri comes to the conclusion that these four guys are her soulmates, something she never thought she would have. She has definitely caught feelings for ALL of them. It is rather heartbreaking when you realize how touch and love starved all of her guys are. They don’t feel deserving of love or feelings from Merri, even though they do very much wish for it. I love the dreamwalking part of this story! It is a unique trope that is used to bring Merri closer in her individual relationships she has with each of them. Not to mention, dreamwalking with a succubus is very real and she is more likely to conceive in that realm. Bring on the dream smut, I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT!!!
These authors do such a fun job of immersing you into this world. They bring back characters from the previous series' which keeps everything fresh and tied together so well. It really makes it so much more fun to read! At the same time, it’s the literal apocalypse with unimaginably terrible natural disasters, princes of hell and creatures of hell being released. It’s a nice balance between fun and terrible.
I have fallen in love with each character in each series so far. These FMC’s are so blessed with their men. Each little harem contains such big personalities and so much love (& lust ❤️🔥). It’s truly a joy to see them all come together as a unit. After three books of the current series, Apocalypse, I think this one may be my favorite with all the emotions involved. Idk, its been a while since I have read the previous ones! There is definitely something special about the fellers in this series!! I believe Apocalypse is the final series in this story. In a live I saw, they said it would have 5 books total. So, 2 more to go!! Will it seriously be the end of the series’ in this world?! It will be hard to experience the end of all of this madness! I truly love this series & don’t want it to ever end!!
OK, once again I must talk about the AUDIOBOOKS!!! I have not had the privilege of listening to the audio for Malice yet except for the bonus content audio, so I am speaking here from allllll of the prior books! They are truly phenomenal and fully duet style with a full cast! The best narrators are in this series! Jason Clarke (my absolute favorite male narrator due to his narrating of Father Caleb Gallagher in the very first book – snatched me right up, hook, line & sinker♥), JF Harding, James Joseph, Shane East, Teddy Hamilton, & Stella Hunter. The banter and chemistry between all these narrators are AMAZING!!!!! YOU MUST EXPERIENCE THESE AUDIOBOOKS!!! THEY ARE PHENOMENAL!!!
Also, more treats are the bonuses & extras! They have many bonus scenes for this series to be downloaded into BookFunnel, even full cast audio versions which are so fun to hear!! At the end of each book they give you the website to download the bonus scenes. There are links at the end of this book for the ebook and audiobook bonus versions of the bonus scene, which is Lucifer’s POV. The Mate Games actually has its own website which has book art of all the characters with their personal info and stuff like that. It’s really a fun time to check it all out! https://themategames.com/. There is also a Mate Games Facebook page AND a fairly new Mate Games Con (the next one is October 2025)!! Both of the authors also have a Patreon with even more bonus material, including NSFW!!
Their other Mate Games story, Twisted Cross Ranch, is also amazing & I believe they will be releasing more books in that world at some point, too.
We're on book 3 and getting deeper into this apocalypse. You need to read in order, the story builds from book to book and each one ends on a cliffhanger.
We get more of our operation PFFN crew in this one and they provide context, urgency and levity (it's Remi and Kingston with a bunch of cameos and appearances from our past heroes, heroines and loveable side characters). There is a lot going on in the world(s) that our Horsemen and darling Merri are entirely unaware of.
When we get back to our core team, we pick up right where we left off last book and the resolution of that situation starts this installment with a bang... *wink wink*. And as seen in previous instalments of the MG universe, the more the group accepts each other/the situation, the more intricate and creative the situations become. But as we finally get some honesty and communication that feels like progress, we also still have barriers to overcome and objectives to accomplish. You know what they say sometimes... 1 step forward, 2 steps back... right to another cliff. I'll be hanging on tight until we get to come back.
The audio is performed in duet by a full cast of amazing talents with several cameos sprinkled in for swoon and joy (my faves are back even if only for a few lines): - Stella Hunter as Merri - her needs are intense, but her instincts are right up there. She's developing and exercising her powers as she goes sometimes stumbling into revelations and information. JF Harding as Sin (Famine) - He's the one that seems the most in tune with everyone's needs (even if they don't always listen to him). He is still the biggest bright spot in the doom and gloom of everyone else. Jason Clarke as Chaos (War) - Less grumpy/moody but still incredibly protective and the breeding kink is strong in his dirty talk. James Joseph as Malice (Pestilence) - progress... we've made progress, we've gotten some openness and vulnerability and that is needed for genuine connection. I'm proud of this grumpy guy (not all the time, but some of it). Shane East as Grim (Death) - Where there's a will, there's a way. I knew it was going to be intense and it totally delivered (and in a way that I didn't expect). Creative solutions... Looking forward to him getting his head out of his booty and having an emotional lightbulb moment. There is still a lot of road to travel with this one. Christian Fox as Lucifer - We've started seeing more of his game come into play. We get some reveals in this one that I had though of but then questioned myself on, but yep... and I'm sure there are more WTF twists coming.
Don't skip the bonus scene. It helped with my lingering questions about some of the logistics.
On a personal note, I devoured this one so fast I will definitely be listening again. I've already told my husband this entire series will be on our listen list once it's complete. He really enjoyed Death, so I think he'll enjoy this one too.
I requested and was provided with advanced copies of the eBook and audio book. These are my honest opinions.
Blurb: I spent centuries avoiding romantic entanglements. Who wanted to be burdened by feelings? But then she happened and it didn’t matter what I wanted anymore.
Living with a succubus was never going to be easy but when we lose Merri to her demonic side the only way to bring her back is to give in. The one thing I’d spent so long trying not to do.
I’m pretty sure I coined the term workaholic. Plagues were what I lived for. Who could blame me? After my disastrous attempt at being a family man I locked myself away and focused on the only thing that truly mattered. Self-preservation. And if I happened to end the world in the process? Well, bully for me.
Now here I am with my entire life plan turned upon its head. I haven’t thought about my duty as a horseman in weeks. Instead, my mind is consumed with my hellcat.
She’s clawed her way past my defenses. All of our defenses.
Sin is already kneeling at her feet.
Chaos is well on his way.
Grim would be right there beside them if it wouldn’t kill her.
And me? I’m barely hanging on by a thread.
No matter how many times I tell myself I can resist, falling for her is a foregone conclusion. She’s the most powerful antigen I’ve ever come across, and I’m far from immune. Which should make it easy in the end.
Except I know how this story goes. There’s no such thing as happily ever after for the four horsemen. Merri was never ours to keep.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This cast didn't just raise the bar...they set it on fire! This review is my love letter to two powerhouse authors — Kim Lorraine & Meg Anne — and the Audio master cast narrators who bring their worlds to life.
Malice is book three in the fourth Mate Games series, a reverse harem, why choose, dark paranormal romance that proves (yet again) that Kim & Meg are in a league of their own. I didn’t know how Chaos could be topped — I thought it was peak audio magic — but somehow they’ve done it again.
The duet + full cast performance is beyond epic, featuring Stella Hunter, Shane East, James Joseph, JF Harding, and Jason Clarke, joined by Teddy Hamilton & Christian Fox. With cameos from Lauren Landa, Samantha Brentmoor, Aaron Shedlock and John Hartley. This is the benchmark for how you do audio — authors, take notes.
We return to Merri and the Four Horsemen, with the fate of the world in her hands. Lucifer and his minions are out to create the Antichrist, with Merri as the intended vessel. You’d think it would be all doom and gloom, but that’s the beauty of this series — the banter and levity cut through the darkness, delivering laugh-out-loud moments even as the apocalypse looms.
I can’t choose a favourite character or narrator — I’m obsessed with them all — but I’ll always have a soft spot for Grimsby. Shane East’s shadow daddy energy is unmatched. Stella Hunter deserves a standing ovation for carrying every female voice (and doing it flawlessly), and I adore the Lilith/Crombie dynamic with Shane — the banter is just chef’s kiss.
Fans will also love the Easter eggs — familiar faces from Kim & Meg’s other worlds that feel like coming home and catching up with old friends.
The pacing is perfect, the spice delivers, the plot twists keep you hooked, and the cliffhanger… let’s just say it’s the delicious kind of torture. The final book is coming, it’s going to be Grimsby's, and I’m not ready — but also, take my pre-order!
Infinity stars. 10/10. This is a drop everything and listen situation. Work got in my way, but it’s such an easy binge, I devoured it anyway. If you’re going to experience this world, make it audio — your ears deserve nothing less than this feast.
I'm plenty tall enough to ride this ride, but I'm still left sputtering and clowning and WTFing (yes, that's a word) after finishing Malice, the newest book in the world ending, paranormal, why choose Mate Games universe. I swear with each one, Meg Anne and K. Loraine say "hold my beer."
Let me explain...no, there is too much. Let me sum up... the four horseman of the apocalypse are themselves racing to impregnate succubus demon cam girl Merri before Lucifer makes good on *his* plan to knock her up with the antichrist and end the world.
After the cliffhanger in Chaos, Malice opens with a bang...literally.
Merri and her men are doing the dance, making the love (yep, feelings are HAPPENING), getting down (breeding, anyone? Yep. Scorching hot).
Malice's walls are crumbling, Merri learns the truth of her situation, the men are all besotted, all of this happening in seclusion on an island while the world burns around them. Grim. My brutifully broken, touch-starved horseman. And then there is Lucifer. Why do I secretly love him? Uggh.
All of our prior series faves are involved, the stakes are high and OMG there's twists and another record scratch cliffhanger. (This is where the WTFing comes in, dear reader. )
But y'all. The audio. There are no words adequate. None. This cast. Their chemistry. Their performances. I am in awe. This is how it's done.
Stella Hunter's sassy, sweet, seductive Merri. JF Harding's swoony, sweetheart, caretaker Sin. Jason Clarke's gruff, grumpy, growwwwly Chaos.
James Joseph's deeply emotional performance as Malice and Shane East's pensive and reflective performance as Death himself. I was crying, not just laughing.
Christian Fox is simply stellar as Lucifer, and Teddy Hamilton is utter perfection as always, along with some beloved narrator cameos from past Mate Games series.
If you're listening for the first time, do yourself a favor and start all the way at the beginning with War. You're welcome.
Deep gratitude to Meg Anne and K. Loraine for this incredible world. I rally don't want it to end.
🚨 The apocalypse is closer than ever and Merri is the key to stopping it… or starting it. 😈💥
Book three picks up right where we left off—Merri and the Four Horsemen are in a race against time to stop Lucifer from unleashing hell on Earth. His goal? Make Merri his and use her to carry the child that’ll bring on the end of the world. But the Horsemen aren’t about to let that happen… and their solution? Oh, it’s deliciously sinful 😏
Each Horseman brings something different to the table—Malice especially gets his moment, and we finally dive into his backstory 👀.
Breeding kink? Check. Cliffhanger? Brutal. Audiobook cast? Unreal. Apocalypse has never sounded so good.
This audiobook is an experience. Stella Hunter is Merri—fierce, brave, and so easy to root for. James Joseph gives Malice new depth, Shane East’s Grim is all dark fantasy dreams, Jason Clarke’s Chaos growls his way into your soul, JF Harding’s Sin is smooth and swoon-worthy, Teddy Hamilton as Asher brings needed levity, and Christian Fox? Born to play Lucifer—cocky, magnetic, and chilling in the best way. Not to mention, the cameos? Chef’s kiss 🤌🏽

I am completely gobsmacked by this book! Completely! I have come to expect nothing less from Meg and Kim though. They have masterfully created this complex universe of colorful, fascinating, witty characters and taken them on so many incredible journeys. Best of all is how they have woven each set of mates together and led them to this time and place with Merri and her four horseman. They are there in the background plotting to save the world all while Merri is demanding the truth from her men and making them fall in love with her. But love is a foreign feeling, so it’s a big deal for them to realize that she was meant to be their mate and not just a means to saving the world. If it was that easy then all would be well and this series would be over with in book three. lol These talented authors know better than anyone how to write the best cliffhangers and keep us in a mild state of shock while we wait for the next installment. It’s both the best and worst!
As Merri and her four horseman take us on this incredible, steamy, suspenseful journey, they are leading us closer and closer to the final confrontation with Lucifer. Every aspect of that journey is made even better in audio by the extremely talented cast of voice actors that these authors have given us. And it really is a gift to have this caliber of narration. They all portray multiple characters and bring a unique voice and personality to each and every one. They are masters at it all, and the audiobook should not be missed!
"Malice" is truly a captivating adventure, perfect for those who delight in intricate storytelling and thrilling plots rather than a conventional "happily ever after." Authored by the talented Meg Anne and K. Loraine, this paranormal romance takes readers on a mesmerizing journey filled with twists and turns that will leave you breathless, eagerly turning each page in anticipation. The authors have masterfully crafted a world rich with detail, standing at the brink of an apocalypse, where the Four Horsemen are transformed into complex characters who navigate a multi-layered and intoxicating relationship rather than being mere symbols of judgment. This innovative approach breathes new life into familiar archetypes, significantly enriching the narrative. The dialogue sparkles with enticing wit, creating an atmosphere of simmering tension just beneath the surface. The passionately charged encounters are vividly portrayed, igniting your imagination. You’ll find yourself deeply invested in the lives of these morally ambiguous heroes, cheering them on as they grapple with their intense emotions. And just when you think you have it all figured out, a heart-wrenching cliffhanger will leave you yearning for more—perhaps even contemplating sending the authors a note of sympathy for your emotional turmoil!
If you haven't yet experienced the "Malice" audiobook, you're in for a treat! The brilliant ensemble of narrators—featuring the talented Stella Hunter, Jason Clark, James Joseph, J.F. Harding, Shane East, Teddy Hamilton, and Christian Fox—brings extraordinary vibrancy to the story. Each narrator embodies their character with a unique voice, perfectly capturing the essence of everyone from the stoic Malice to the fiercely loyal Sin and seamlessly weaving together the performances into a rich auditory tapestry that draws you into this exhilarating saga. The whole cast narration elevates the story into something truly unforgettable. To genuinely appreciate the depth and intricacy of this series, immerse yourself in the audiobook experience—you will be wholly enveloped in its magic!
And it was all going so well! Grim, you are breaking my heart but I need him to be the one. Even after this book, Grim is still it for me! Sin is a very close second especially as he has been pretty much all in since day one, but Grim needs to see beyond the confines of his inevitability as he is so much more than that. We were so close, then ugh, two steps back again. Malice's development however was so good and I'm hoping he gets to meet a certain someone soon.
I still adore Sin; his response to Merri's show of force in the battle was fantastic and he is such a great character. I loved Sin's moment with Malice in particular as although he is the most light hearted of the horsemen and gives off annoying little brother vibes at times in the group dynamic, he shows up when it counts. How can you not love him?
Lucifer still has me conflicted though! He just has me second guessing enough about whether he truly is the Big Bad and these authors have me totally on the fence as to whether I want him in or out as he is something else. Lucifer is just on the right side of unhinged but if anyone could win him over it would be Merri. Bring on book four!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

•Trope: Why Choose, Paranormal, Begining of the Apocalypse
• THOUGHTS: Well, Malice made me happier than a kid in a candy store! completely devoured this book in a day! I am fully aware I need to learn self-control, but my hell, how can I not? 4 hot horsemen, succubi, and being one step closer to knowing what happens. I am not going to give anything away, I am telling you you need this series in your life. From the moment i started Malice, I could not stop listening. I was busting up on multiple parts. I was Fanning my face on mother's and finding myself gasping in between. lol. This one took you on a ride! and I am not the least bit upset it ended on a cliffy. Malice is incredible, and this entire series is Epic!!
Narrator Thoughts: Full cast •Narrators: Stella Hunter, James Joseph, JF Harding, Jason Clarke, Shane East, Ft. Teddy Hamilton, Christian Fox, and Lauren Landa. •Duet Narration. 1.6x Listening speed Brilliant! Bravo! Standing ovation! Guys, I love this full cast so much! the talent all working together to give you this amazing book! I am just on cloud 9. Each and every one of the narrators was fantastic! I loved this book (in case you can't tell), but you need the audiobook!!
It's finally here, Malice, the third book in the Mate Games: Apocalypse series. I believe this was the longest wait between books (in the same series) in this universe. It was so worth it.
Merri and the guys are in their own little world on the island, and the forced proximity trope finally pays off. Merri and the guys are getting closer. Deeper connections are forming, and everybody has some kind of growth. Is everyone where I want them to be in terms of personal development? Of course not, but they are making headway. I liked the new relationship developments. Sin was the most adorable out of the guys. I love his relationship with Merri; he was incredibly sweet.
Plot-wise, some of the things that I've been anticipating finally happened, so I enjoyed that. I always enjoy seeing the MCs from the other series. This time around, they had a bigger role outside the video correspondences that included humor and some key information. Of course, Lucifer and his minions made their appearance. I loved mythology, so I was extremely happy that some angel and demon mythology was explained. What I didn't quite realize was how bat-crap crazy Lucifer is. Like, wow. Unfortunately for my people, he's a challenging enemy, and I'm nervous about what's to come next.
That ending... Meg and Kim made my heart stop with that cliffhanger. I didn't see it coming. Like, wow! If the pattern stands, there's only one book left. I can't wait to see how it all ends in Grim's book. Death is coming.
K. Loraine and Meg Anne are undisputed masterful storytellers and this latest edition to their truly epic Mate Games Universe is testament to it.
Being Book 3 in the series we are thrust (literally IYKYK) into the action from the previous book. Tensions are rising, Lucifer and his Princes of Hell are closing in and our motely crew of heroes find the stakes are stacked ever higher against them. Merri and her four horsemen start to grow closer and the spice levels are certainly dialled up to 100 to reflect this. This is definitely the most NSFW of the series so far ;)
However, we start to see cracks in the impenetrable emotional armour the four horsemen shroud themselves in. Its delightful to peer inside and see the beginnings of a jealous and smitten Chaos, a hopeful but broken Malice and the ultimate shadow daddy himself, Grim starting to let his guard down around his wildflower.
But the pure genius of this book, like the whole series, is the vast ensemble of characters (and they start to come back to play in this one) and the pitch perfect multi-casting. The authors consistently make excellent choices with the story to excel and enhance the talent they have picked to perform these characters. From the originals and fan favourites, Stella Hunter, James Joseph and JF Harding (who continue to deliver the highest calibre performances and just bring me so much joy) to regulars Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton, Shane East and then rounding off with the brand new edition of Christian Fox and a maniac but seductive turn as Lucifer.
Its just everything, truly everything. I will always be a forever fan of this universe and these graphic audio-esque books for their sheer scale and brilliance. Never EVER stop writing Mate Games books. I need them too much.
What to expect: ✨️ Dual POV with 1st person perspective ✨️ Cam girl succubus ✨️ Apocalypse ✨️ Rh with no ⚔️ ✨️ Paranormal romance; succubus, incubus, horsemen, lucifer, demons ✨️ Medium burn between main characters ✨️ Kinks: caming, mutual masterbation, praise, daddy honorific, brat, toy usage, exhibitionism, blowjobs, anal, role-play, dp
The Apocalypse is very slowly progressing and Merri and her men are busy getting busy.
While I absolutely love this series and Ive struggled to connect to the characters a little as this particular instalment has progressed. It feels like they dont have the same depth as previous characters and a lot of time is spent on their relationships with little plot progression.
Not too much was added to the plot in this instalment, however we learnt the identity of Luc, and im still sceptical of Christian. Is he the 7th Prince????
Having said all of that, I still love this series and everything the universe encompasses and will still always recommend it to everyone who will listen.
I would love Lillith to get her own book and story because she is one of the most interesting characters in the series and I want to know everything about her, especially her and Crombies relationship.
Wow.. just wow. Meg and K did it again; this book, like all the others, was phenomenal and game me literally everything I could want! It's no wonder why they're my favorite duo; their writing is astounding. I'm so sad that I have to wait for the next book to see what happens next. I'm more invested in this series than any other and the cameos from previous books make me giddier than a little kid in a whole mall full of candy and has been told she can have it all. I can't wait to see them all together; I'm beyond ecstatic about it; the banter between all of the guys will no doubt be epic.
I listened to the audiobook again for this one and oh my stars these narrators do an absolutely phenomenal job every single time. I highly recommend them to everyone who loves an audiobook. These folks should win awards with these books. 💯🗣️🏆⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As always the spice was off the charts. These men are just... mmmmm.. chef's kiss. 🥵🔥🌶️4.5
Some things that I had thought to be true came to light in this book and while it was definitely emotional, I'm super excited for what comes next and to see how everything plays out, especially with that ending. Grim, you big dumb-dumb, you got some heavy groveling to do, buddy. 🖤
