Once a queen. Now a fugitive. Can a sacred song transform Gailea into a warrior?
Gailea has shed her crown to flee the kingdom she conquered...and the cruel man she loved. Hunted by assassins, she must hide her children and vanish, disguising herself as a teacher at an extraordinary magic academy.
Across the sea, sadistic King Samil has usurped the Carmennan throne, using forbidden spells and his talented young protégé, Mikanah, to seduce and enslave minds. His plan to crush the entire Lozolian Realm with an unstoppable army demands one last sacrifice: an innocent music mage whose soul can be twisted to craft the ultimate weapon.
When a girl escapes Samil's dungeons to warn of the plot, Gailea must reveal her gifts to join the elite, mysteriously selected music Guardians and confront the rising evil. But even the Guardians have their own agendas. Can Gailea trust Iolana, the former prisoner whose scheme to save the man she loves could doom them all? Or the very man who sent assassins to hunt Gailea and her children? Or even Mikanah, ripped unwillingly from King Samil's side to accept a duty he despises—does he seek redemption, vengeance, or power?
Ahead lies a treacherous journey to rally the Guardians and confront their overwhelming enemies. But Gailea's vow to reunite with her children demands a safe realm. And she will vanquish anyone, king, or ally, who stands against her.
Hullo there, dear reader! Christine E. Schulze here, author of YA fantasy, as well as a few kids’ books about special needs. I’ve been living in castles, exploring magical worlds, and creating fantastical romances and adventures since I was too young to even write of such stories. My collection of YA and children's fantasy books, The Amielian Legacy, is comprised of series and stand-alone books that can all be read separately but also weave together to create a single, amazing fantasy.
One of my main aspirations for The Amielian Legacy is to create grand fantasy adventures with characters that connect with readers from diverse backgrounds. My current focus is to include racially diverse characters, as well as those with disabilities. The latter is inspired by my day job working with adults who have autism and other developmental disabilities at Trinity Services in Southern Illinois.
I draw much of my inspiration from favorite authors like Tolkien and Diana Wynne Jones, favorite games like The Legend of Zelda, and especially from the people in my life. Some of my exciting ventures include the publication of my award-winning Bloodmaiden, as well as The Gailean Quartet, my first series with Words Matter Publishing. My books for younger readers include In the Land of Giants and The Amazing Captain K.
I love connecting with new raeders! Come find me on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, or at my author website: http://authorchristineschulze.com
On that note, God bless, happy reading, and may you be truly inspired! I’ll see you in my next book.
i'm so happy to come back to this world!! i've missed gailea and her shenanigans! i absolutely loved book 1 and 2 and enjoyed this one too however this book focuses on alot of other characters too, both new and old, and i struggled a little with getting to know them and care for them. as a reader, i struggle to follow a story if i dont care for the characters and that's the only reason this rating isn't as high as for the previous books. that being said, the author really has a talent with words and paints a beautiful world!!
Symphony of Crowns by Christine is the third book in the Gailean Quartet and the direct sequel to Serenade of Kings 🔥🎶 Thank you to Christine for having me on board again as an ARC reader!
Gailea has escaped her evil husband and is now a fugitive on the run. She’s desperate to make it to a friend who will hopefully be able to provide a safe haven for her and her children, however when an attack separates them, Gailea realises she will never be able to protect her children from their twisted father. She and her children end up in hiding on opposite ends of the world, breaking her heart. Meanwhile, King Samil has taken over Carmenna and is using mind and musical magic to enslave the people and start a war. The entire Lozolian Realm is at risk, but the emergence of the musical Guardians might be the only thing to save them all. Can Gailea trust those around her, help vanquish an evil king and one day reunite with her children?
Christine has done it again! 🎶 This was another brilliant YA fantasy read. The pace is excellent, the writing beautiful and the lore is rich. Having now read three books in this series, I am equally excited for and terrified for book four - I don’t want it to end! I’ve said this before but 13 year old me would’ve inhaled these books and been so obsessed.
Like its predecessors, this book has no spice, no swearing, high fantasy, found family and so much more. There are elements of Christian faith woven through the lore and religion of the story, so this may appeal extra to Christian readers! I’m not religious but I can appreciate these elements and how it’s connected to the story.
Symphony of Crowns is out 25th of October! I also have a physical set of these coming from the kickstarter and I’m so excited for these to be on my shelf 😍
Symphony of Kings ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ _______________________________________________
Original review 13/10/2025:
Still deciding if 4.5 or 5 stars but I loved this!
Christine just writes the best fantasy. This had so much heart and deep lore, everything I wanted. I really love this series.
This is an inspiring adventure following Gailea on the run and making sacrifices to keep her children safe from danger. The corrupt King is enslaving the realm, using manipulation and musical magic, and only the guardians can hope to stop him. The lore and worldbuilding is rich and magical, the stakes are high, and the characters face intense struggles, tragedy and trauma. The darkness is balanced with hope and love, and there are elements of faith, redemption, healing and growth woven throughout the story on top of the overall good v evil theme. I love the range of characters and new additions to the series, and seeing them learn to work together and overcome trials. It's an emotional journey filled with sacrifice, resilience and bravery, and a high stakes adventure and battle for freedom.
Symphony of Crowns is the perfect installation to The Gailean Quartet series. I always find myself in awe of the world and characters Christine creates. If you’re a fan of epic fantasy with some elements of romance, this is definitely the book for you. There’s a slowburn romance that develops during the book, but it does not necessarily drive the plot. While reading, I went through a ton of emotions, wanting everything to work out for the main character, Galiea. I loved the found family trope and was pleasantly surprised by the twists. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to see what comes next.
Thank you to Christine E Schulze for the gifted eARC of this book!
I really enjoyed this book! It is a rather large installment in the series, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The story starts right after the second book in the series and continues Gailea’s journey we begin in the book before. There is magic, political intrigue, adventure, battles, romance, and plenty of fun!
The story in this series is pretty dark in many parts and ways for many of the characters. There is a very clear message of darkness and light and hope that God (Amiel in the fantasy world) can bring into the hearts of those who have experienced such dark trauma at the hand of other sinners. But for this reason, I would say this series is probably one for older teens and older, especially the second and third book. Though it is a worthwhile read with plenty of lessons to learn and glean!
The characters themselves are so amazing and easy to fall in love with. Gailea is as always her caring and loving self and has plenty of moments of growth. Chamblin is as goofy and lovable as ever, always being by Gailea’s side, even if not in the way he truly desires. The new cast of side characters were wonderful as well and I enjoyed getting to know their characters as well. There were a few examples of unhealthy relational behavior and also healthy examples and I enjoyed that juxtaposition.
I could probably go on forever if I let myself, so I will stop here, but if you are looking for a fantasy series that is clean, but shows realistic struggles in relationships, but also growth and healing there, as well as a very clear good vs evil battle, then this book is for you!
I received this eARC from the author, but this honest review is voluntary.
Content Guide: Language: No Language Spice: Level 1.5 - More intense kissing TW: Fights/death, separation from children, mind manipulation/torture, executions, mistresses/marital affairs, seductive manipulation, beheading in battle (not graphic) Content Warning: Couple struggling with physical boundaries before marriage, dark magic
It’s been quite a while since I read the first two books, but it felt incredible to return to this world again. It was like coming back to old friends - and finally getting to learn more about their pasts, about how they ended up where the first book began. I love origin and prequel stories like this, because they let us see the characters on a deeper level, connecting every thread beautifully from the beginning all the way to the present.
The world the author has created is rich and detailed, full of diverse and fascinating characters. At first, I was a bit worried there might be too many to keep track of, but it turned out not to be a problem at all. The magic system is also incredibly unique and well thought out.
While the pacing slows down in places, there’s always a twist waiting to pull you right back in. The story is full of beautiful human connections - both friendships and romances. There were moments that made me smile with them, and others that broke my heart.
This is a spice-free fantasy, so don’t pick it up expecting that - but trust me, it’s captivating all the same. There’s no shortage of adventure and political intrigue, and I absolutely loved traveling alongside Galiea on this journey.
I highly recommend it if you’re looking for an emotionally rich fantasy with a strong found family trope, one that focuses not on romance, but on its characters and the depth of its world.
Thank you to the author for sending me an e-ARC of Symphony of Crowns in return of an honest review!
We are once again back and delving into the life of Gailea and her journey. In the third installment of the Gailean Quartet, we dig even deeper into the fantasy, family dynamics and magic that we know and love from the first two books.
This book really takes the darkness up a notch, focusing a lot on characters trauma and how it affects them. I think it was done very well, showing a very realistic view of people who have been through horrible experiences. Adding onto that, the characters overall were so well written! We see characters we know and love from the last two books, but also new and exciting ones as well. Once again, the found family aspect is my favorite part. In fact, I would say it was at it’s peak in this book (maybe tied with Prelude of Fire). Nerine was such a lovely addition to the series, I loved her magic and her growth throughout the novel. Her relationship with the others was so heartwarming, they really are a family. I also adored the academic aspect we had at the first half of the book. Seeing Gailea thrive with her magic was wonderful. I would eat up an entire book of her teaching, I can’t lie! I’ll stop myself here, but I really do recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy, found family and a skillfully written magic system!
Thank you to the author for sending me an e-ARC of Symphony of Crowns in exchange of an honest review!
This is the third book in the Gailean Quartet! This third installment was the immediate sequel to the second one so I am so happy we got to read even more about Gailea, I love her so much, she is such a well-written character. Gailea is so strong and has so much love to give despite everything she's been through. We finally got to read more of her with Chamblin and see their dynamic again, which I adore! He's such a sweet and funny character, I really missed him in the last book. I was swooning (also crying) over Gailea and Chamblin the whole book, give me more of them now pleaseeee!! Gailea was made to be with children and teach in a school so I'm really glad we got to see her in a school setting, teaching about what she loves; music and magic! Speaking of, the magic in this book was just as good as the last two books, I love this magic system so much, and I never get bored of it. Her teaching position also introduced us to many new characters who ended up feeling like family. This book, like the last one, was heavy on politics and I found myself so invested, everything about this book kept me engaged the whole time. I really cannot wait to read the last installment of this series, especially after such an ending, I need to know what happens next even though I am terrified of saying goodbye to this series.
Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC copy of Symphony of Crowns! All thoughts are my own.
I loved being back in this world! Gailea is a really strong main character and it was nice seeing a different storyline with different characters being introduced!
All of the characters are so loveable, I especially loved Nerine's character - a water nymph?! I immediately loved her from that alone!!
Moragon is such a brutal villain who's traumatised pretty much every character, so all you want is for them to stop his evil plot. He's a very well written villain!
I loved Mikanah's story as well, it was deep and his redemption arc was also written really effectively. I also loved the relationship between Chamblin and Gailea, and seeing this develop was really special, along with the bonds Gailea formed with other characters throughout the book.
The ending was a really nice way to tie things up on a positive note, but now I'm scared at what the fourth book has in store!
Christine E. Schultz has done it again with "Symphony of Crowns," the triumphant third installment in her epic fantasy quartet. This book has everything a fan could crave: a richly developed world that expands with every page, a magic system that feels alive, and a cast of characters who inspire both deep love and visceral hatred. At its heart, amidst the devastation of war and the presence of true evil, Schultz weaves a powerful, uplifting thread of hope, love, and goodness. From the first chapter, I was completely immersed. While the indomitable Gailea remains the series' compelling core, she is surrounded by a beautifully rendered ensemble. You can't help but love the pure soul of Nerine, unravel the mysteries of Lorelei's past, or pity the traumatized mind of Mikanah. And of course, there is the terrible Moragon , a villain crafted to be truly despised. I have lived every page of this journey with the Guardians, fighting by their side and sharing in their losses. Now, I join them in a moment of hard-won respite, already eagerly awaiting the final chapter of this magnificent quartet.
Title: Symphony of Crowns Author: Christine E. Schulz Genre: fantasy, ya, adventure Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Christine did it again with this beautiful novel!!! This story is so encapsulating and I will forever love the characters she writes about in her stories. This is the third installment of the Gailean Quartet and with each book I fall more and more in love with this series. I’m pretty sure I say this in every review having to do with this series but I absolutely adore the magic system. It’s so intricately crafted and unique and I love love love the music mages. You can tell how much time the author put in to creating it and definitely pays off. Also the world building is just perfect! Never too heavy, but she always makes sure to give you enough so you know what’s going on! It’s just the perfect blend! I can’t stress enough how much you need to read this series!! It’s amazing! And I think this one is my favorite so far!
Symphony of Crowns releases October 25th and I do hope you check out this series!!
A War is coming… but who will survive? Lives brought back together. Hope filling their hearts. Can they make it through the madness of the enemy lurking in their minds?
Thank you @author_christinee.schulze for a chance to read Symphony of Crowns – Book 3 from the Gailean Quartet Series. This entire series is a beautifully written work of art. Sadness, happiness, love, hate, battles, magic, and so much more fill the pages.
Symphony of Crowns had my mind racing and thinking, “don’t you dare,” to the author. I didn’t want my heart broken. As each scene would unfold, I would hope that the characters would make it through their battles. I will admit, my heart was ripped to pieces during one tragic scene that I did not see coming.
So many questions filtered into my mind as I read on – Would Gailea find her children? Did they make it? Could Mikanah ever love again? Was there a traitor in their group?
“Only seconds later, the song faded into nothingness. The ashes fell still once more.” This was one of my favorite scenes from this read. It was captivating. It was beautiful. It was strength.
Wow! What a ride! So much happens to Gailea and her companions. There were so many surprises throughout this story that it had me on the edge of my seat. We pick up right after the events of Book 2, Serenade of Kings, and follow Gailea as she struggles to navigate a world full of dangers for her and her children. There are multiple time jumps, which were sometimes a little jarring, but they also help the story feel very fleshed out and realistic. Y'all, the struggles, the trauma, the emotional rollercoaster that Gailea deals with and still manages to be so strong is amazing. It did take a bit for me to sink into the book. Partially because this is a long book and it takes a little bit to get all the different timelines established. There are so many moving parts, so many characters, that at times I felt a little lost in the reeds. But it didn't last too long and of course Christine's writing is beautiful, that I didn't feel like I was slogging through it. I also went into this book not having read book 1. I started reading this series with book 2 and then book 3. This was because book 1 takes place after the events of book 1 and 2. This is something you could totally do, just don't read the 'Finale' as it will spoil things for book 1. I'll be reading book 1 when my tbr calms down a bit! As with Serenade, this book is amazing and the magic system is so cool and Christine wrote such a rich story!
Love it !!! It is a bit on the longer side, but every chapter and every page is definitely necessary. It starts of right we left of on book 2 where we continue to see Gailea's journey. We're we see here find her way back to her family as well as learning and creating a new future. The characters this author write are one that you can easy fall in love with and want to continue reading about. There is adventure, political intrigued, Christian faith elements throught the book, no swearing or spice, found family, magic and all.
This author has done it again and it has been an amazing read. I can't say this enough, it you want a series that will give you life, this is it. The use of music makes it all magically beautiful♥︎
I enjoyed this story a lot. It was well paced and exciting throughout. I particularly enjoyed the introduction of one particular character. It was dark and raw and was different in tone from anything else I’ve read by this author but fit the character well. I enjoyed the main character and loved getting to spend even more time with them. It was nice to explore the magical system more and how it works as well as the influences of the major religion in this world. Overall this was a good continuation of the story and well worth the read.
Symphony of Crowns is the third installment of the Gailean Quartet and is by far the darkest of the series. We see contrasts of light and dark, as well as themes of Christian faith against the backdrop of grief and trauma.
I loved revisiting this world. Quite a while had passed since I read the first two books in the series, but being reunited with these characters felt like a warm hug in every single way. This is an incredibly rich fantasy series with well thought out magic systems and found family that will have you rooting for these characters as if they were your own.
Like the other books in the series, there isn’t any spice and it is suitable for a younger audience. While I do love a little spice, it is refreshing to see an author who doesn’t rely on it as a main plot point.
I have enjoyed reading this series as an adult, but I know that younger me would have absolutely adored these books 10-15 years ago. Even though it is my first time reading the series, it feels nostalgic in a way that reminds me of my childhood.
Thank you to Christine for the ARC!

@author_christinee.schulze has done it again 👏 This is the third book in The Gailean Quartet and it completely swept me away. Just like the first two, it’s packed with everything I adore about this series—an enchanting touch of musical magic, unforgettable characters, and an adventure that feels both epic and deeply personal. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat, and some of the heartbreaking moments truly floored me. Yet at the same time, the story is so heartwarming, full of love, hope, and charm—it’s the kind of book that makes you feel every emotion in the best possible way. I’ve grown so attached to this world and these characters that I honestly never want the journey to end. If you haven’t started The Gailean Quartet yet, you’re missing out on something magical. ✨📚
Overall, I really enjoyed this third installment in the Gailean Quartet! I loved the epic adventure and the world building was well done. I loved the idea of music magic as music can be such a powerful thing.
I also loved how the author incorporated Christian beliefs into her fantasy world. I loved the overall idea that no matter how lost a person becomes, they can be redeemed. There was so much character growth in this story. Although I was annoyed with some of the characters at times, I love how grew and changed as the story progressed.
I did have a hard time focusing on the story as it was so long and I have a harder time reading longer books, but I never once thought I should not finish it due to length. I was invested in the characters from the beginning and wanted to know how their story ended. I would 100% recommend this one to anyone looking for an epic fantasy!
We recently finished the epic journey that is Christine's third instalment in the Gailean quartet. Epic doesn't quite cut it - Symphony of Crowns is jam-packed full of political machinations, magic, sorrow, hope, twists and turns. Each page giving us more action and insight into the found family we have come to love and the evil we have come to abhor.
What always sticks out to us in Christine's writing is the beautifully unique magic system she has created. We are always enchanted by her musical magic - the different ways spells can be performed and the various effects this magic has on the world.
What captured our attention in this book was the way in which our gaggle of heroes came together. How the relationships between them formed and developed. The difficulties within the group and outside forces they had to overcome. And ultimately how each member had their place of importance in the overarching mission. The saying of "it takes a village..." ringing true.
We don't want to give too much away here. So we'll end by saying fans of classic and epic fantasy will enjoy this book with Symphony of Crowns giving us Lord of The Rings and Legend of Zelda vibes.
Wow, I am writing this review with tears in my eyes. I absolutely loooooved getting to travel with Gailea once more in Book 3 of The Gailean Quartet. The high of this ending will take me through many, many days. This has been my absolute favorite book of the series. It is everything I was hoping and more. It connects all the dots from Book 1 through now and I know there is more magnificence coming in the last one. Beautiful is the word I keep hearing in my heart. The way the author connects music and magic is phenomenal while adding elements of spirituality. The heavy topics and things the characters go through are so comparable to real life. A huge 4.5 stars!!! I can not wait to read the next one!!
Thank you to the author for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
This book continues the journey of Gailea from book two, Serenade of Kings. The storytelling in this one is still strong. There were some epic moments of action and combined with the uniqueness of musical magic, it felt like it could be suited for an actual stage play or musical. (imagine harmonious singing during battle scenes with an orchestra backing them up, epic) The descriptions of each place were very vivid and colorful, and the concept of music being used for battle still sustained my interest. The beautifully illustrated chapter headings again added a nice touch to the series. The ending was also touching, I actually got a little teary eyed 😅
I did wish this book was a little shorter though, I felt that some action sequences didn't need to be so long, or some scenes could've been edited more. I also didn't like the characters much, especially the reluctant hero at the end, with the way that character treated many of the other characters 😭 Overall, I enjoyed the series and it did conclude really well😊
OMG, Symphony of Crowns was just as good as the first two books. Christine E. Schultz has done it again with this amazing masterpiece. The raw emotion is intense, and the ending brought tears to my eyes. Not only is Christine a fantasy genius, she also knows how to tug at the heartstrings.
4⭐️ That was a lot! Gracious, so much happens within Symphony of Crowns. You meet new characters and have your favorites too. I will say it’s worth taking your time to truly appreciate all the information. Gailea is running from her husband and trying to protect her children. War is coming which forces some hard decisions. But even in the dark times, there is light. Gailea and others will find so much more strength in the power of their music. Thank you @author_christinee.schulze for the advanced copy and your patience with me. 💚💚
Another great addition to The Gailean Quartet series! I really enjoyed this one and it was a great change of pace from the last few books I have read! I absolutely love the magic system in this world and would definitely recommend!
Symphony of Crowns is a wonderful continuation of Gailea's story with new characters you can’t help but root for. I especially enjoyed the musical instruction woven into the story. The only thing that gave me pause was the frequent use of the word "whore," though that may just be my own personal preference.
Okay so this is my favourite one of the series so far, the character development was great, the story line amazing, the end felt a bit quick but the detail was there?
Would recommend for anyone who wants a smut free fantasy book with a found family mixed with enemies to not quite friends vibe
To say that Gailea is scarred and jaded would be an understatement, after having to flee the only place she had ever called home and being betrayed by those who swore to protect her, Gailea must make the heart wrenching decision to spirit her children away to safety out of her reach. Gailea’s struggles are just the tip of the iceberg of what must be one of Miss Christine’s best novels by far, it is the YA novel every adult young and older should be reading. The level of maturity and handling of source material is exceptional, the characters all suffer through some very real trauma and their reactions to that trauma is so human that it feels as if the reader themselves are part of the story. Your heart aches for everything they have been through, cheers for their triumphs, and rages against their enemies. Miss Christine is a master of character weaving, walking the fine line between sympathy and reminding the reader that her characters are not infallible, not even her heroes. Each has their own demons to face, each has their own consequences for their actions or lack of action, and each is a triumph to witness in the fight against the ultimate evil, a shadow which has plagued our heroes since the beginning of this series. And I must commend our dear author for her own personal growth, where there used to be uncertainty for the fates of our villains and a righteous need to see justice visibly done, our author has grown immensely in not only giving the readers a very visual end to our villain, but a very satisfactory and ironic one at that. This story deals with very mature themes in a way that is horrifying but not overwhelming, it makes the readers demand justice be done, but leaves room for healing at the end as well. There is still humanity even when drawn to the brink of monstrosity, each character wields the gift of music to help other, even those who have been controlled by darkness. To me, that is the most beautiful element of any of Miss Christine’s novels is her humanity, how every life is precious but that some measures have to be taken for the good of all. I think in the way our villain Moragon was finally put to rest is a perfect example of that. Many of Christine’s novels hold the idea of Amiel at their core, they talk about the righteousness in faith and that all things will work out if Amiel wills it, while that is still the case in this story. There is a refreshing element in Mikinah, who has been so betrayed by the world that he understandably finds it hard to believe in something that might not be there, if there is an Amiel how could such suffering exist in the world? Being Agnostic myself I found this point of view refreshing, as this is something I often ask myself. The way the other characters respect this viewpoint is also definitely appreciated, while they encourage consideration for the idea, they don’t argue, they don’t push their viewpoints, and they don’t try to change Mikinah’s either. I could go on for hours and hours about this book, about every character and their bond with one another, about their strengths and trials, their tribulations, and the sheer vastness of their struggle with their humanity and the capability for evil, etc. Etc. Etc. But rather than me telling you about it, I strongly encourage you to read it yourself, trust me, you won’t regret it.
I have read many fantasy books, and not many captivate me and pull so many emotions from me as this epic fantasy has. I really enjoy the authors writing in all her books.
In this story from the start you feel Galiea’s turmoil, heartache and sacrifices made. The journey she goes through, the epic quests and found family that she makes. It’s all so immersive and a joy to read. Again I love the elemental musical magic in this world the author had vividly conveyed.
Loving all of these characters, the high stakes, the emotional ups and down, all the sacrifices and hard decisions. I’m ready for book 4 but not ready for this series to be over.
- 3rd person, multi POV - Epic Fantasy - Book 3 in the Gailean Quartet series (best if read in order)
In Symphony of Crowns we have yet another beautiful addition to this fantastic epic fantasy series, where we continue onward with Gailea's story.
Christine really knows how to tell a wonderful story. Her writing is beautifully done, and just like the last two books, this one is full of amazing world building, fantastic descriptions, and intriguing characters.
It's also worth noting that the cover art for all of these books is absolutely gorgeous!
This is a slower paced story, full of build up, friendships, musical magic, action and adventure.
It's definitely worth the read if you love a good Epic Fantasy. Just be sure to read the first two before you pick up this one, if you haven't already.
The Gailean Quartet is one of the very best dark epic fantasy series I have read by far, and in this the 3rd book we find Gailea escaping from a husband who is out to kill her and their children, and a King who has gone crazy for power, and will let nothing stand in his way. She is forced to part with her children and send them to safety, hoping she will one day see them again, and trust they will forgive her for abandoning them. Gailea is a very courageous heroine who will use all her magical powers in order to secure not only her children's safety, but also that of her people. Meantime King Moragan, the evil king, is corrupting so many minds and turning them to his favour, abusing and using the magical powers which he himself lacks. Many suffer at his hands and those of his puppet Reynard. Gailea joins forces with the guardians sent out by the council to use their musical magical powers to defeat this enemy of their realm. There is much distrust between the new guardians, however they know that unless they bond with one another they will never be strong enough to defeat someone as strong as Moragan. This books is so intricate, so full of dark moments which kept me turning the pages unable to stop reading till the very last beautiful line. I love the perfect ending which I do think is what we all deserved after so many heart stopping moments throughout this book which made for such compulsive reading. Well done Ms. Schulze for yet another amazingly gripping book full of so many charismatic characters who battle against such evil.
