Welcome to the MARP - the Medical Area for Random Problems - where lice, heartbreak, and mystery rashes all share the same clipboard.
If you’ve ever dispensed Motrin, Midol, and moral support in the same 15 minutes, or diagnosed a “rash or apocalypse” without the help of Google, this book is for you.
Told with dry wit, genuine heart, and just a dash of disinfectant, MARP is part survival guide, part love letter to camp nursing, and part chaotic confessional. It’s for the nurse who’s always out of stickers, the camper who swallowed a rock, the staffer sobbing on the infirmary cot, and anyone who's ever tried to stay hydrated while managing a lice outbreak and a blackout in the same day.
Inside you’ll
Real stories from the frontlines of camp medicine A glossary of MARP-specific lingo (because “placebo” means different things here) Med pass mayhem, menstrual miracles, and mystery broccoli supplements The unforgettable antics of Ariana, Jonah, Florence the infirmary plant, and Yedidya the Israeli conspiracy theorist An unreasonably honest Camp Nurse Packing List And the final ice packs cure everything. Except heartbreak. (But we’ll try anyway.) This isn’t a manual. It’s a memoir in scrubs — glitter, Gatorade, and all.

In the past I've been a camper, counselor and head staff at a camp. Nurse Rachel's book made me nostalgic for camp. I've visited the camp infirmary on many occasions and it was exactly as described by Nurse Rachel. Every line oozes compassion which reflects the type of person she is.
