Bestselling authors Linda Lael Miller and Maisey Yates team up for a western romance anthology celebrating the men who risk their lives every day to keep their communities safe - the quintessential small-town hero!
The daughter of a town marshal, Linda Lael Miller is a #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of more than 100 historical and contemporary novels, most of which reflect her love of the West. Raised in Northport, Washington, Linda pursued her wanderlust, living in London and Arizona and traveling the world before returning to the state of her birth to settle down on a spacious property outside Spokane. Linda traces the birth of her writing career to the day when a Northport teacher told her that the stories she was writing were good, that she just might have a future in writing. Later, when she decided to write novels, she endured her share of rejection before she sold Fletcher’s Woman in 1983 to Pocket Books. Since then, Linda has successfully published historicals, contemporaries, paranormals, mysteries and thrillers before coming home, in a literal sense, and concentrating on novels with a Western flavor. For her devotion to her craft, the Romance Writers of America awarded her their prestigious Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. Long a passionate Civil War buff, Linda has studied the era avidly for almost thirty years. She has read literally hundreds of books on the subject, explored numerous battlegrounds and made many visits to her favorite, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where she has witnessed re-enactments of the legendary clash between North and South. Linda explores that turbulent time in The Yankee Widow, a May 7, 2019 MIRA Books hardcover, also available in digital and audiobook formats. Dedicated to helping others, “The First Lady of the West” personally financed fifteen years of her Linda Lael Miller Scholarships for Women, which she awarded to women 25 years and older who were seeking to improve their lot in life through education. She anticipates that her next charitable endeavors will benefit four-legged critters. I don’t know how this author does it, but her books often seem like they are written by different people. And sometimes I like her, and sometimes I don’t. Sadly, this one was an “I don’t”...
In Cowboy Wanted, outdated wording is used (no one refers to a phone as a smartphone anymore), which had me checking what timeframe the book was supposed to take place. It’s a contemporary story, so it could take place today. But it read like something from the early 90s.
The next writing thing I didn’t like is that she introduces characters, then re-explains who they are - even though it had only been a handful of pages since we met them. Which makes me feel like the author thinks her readers aren’t very smart. The same thing was done with things that just happened.
This author’s writing in this book also seemed very “old fashioned” - almost prim. Which is not a bad thing, but it seems out of place during a contemporary story.
My rating for Cowboy Wanted: 2 stars
Maisey Yates - One More Summer with You
So, I finished this story while I was at a conference for work (just hang with me a sec) and was too tired to jot down my thoughts for this review when I finished. And here I am less than a week later with no recollection of what this novella was even about. Which isn’t a good thing. Off to refresh my memory, I go…
Maisey Yates is another author who is very hit or miss - sometimes I like her books, sometimes I don’t. This one landed in the middle, but had some very big shortcomings (in my opinion, as someone who has read her before and really liked some of her books). Even as a novella, where I don’t expect a lot of character or plot development, this one fell short of making me feel anything. I couldn’t even feel how hurt the hero or heroine were by how things ended when they were young. And if I don’t care how they felt when they broke up, I’m probably not going to feel anything when they get back together…
My rating for One More Summer with You: 2 stars

Cowboy Wanted by Linda Lael Miller Female lead, Kendra, moved home to Arizona after her divorce. She realizes she escaped a horrible situation and is happy to return to the place where she grew up. She wasn't looking for a relationship but she has long term dreams of finding the right person and making a family. Enter the Male lead, Gage. He's a former rodeo star and Hollywood stunt man and now owns a ranch near Kendra. There's a palpable attraction for the two but they guard their hearts carefully. He's a widower of six years and is ready to get on with life. I enjoyed Linda Lael Miller's story of a new chance for love. It was easy to hope the best for these two. There's a bit of drama that made me wonder about a HEA but you'll have to read to find out.
One More Summer With You by Maisey Yates Setting: Camp Low Echo (a camp for troubled youths) Main characters: Jane, a Chicago lawyer. Spencer, a rancher. They bet as campers many years earlier and now have returned as camp counselors for the summer. As teens she'd run away from countless foster homes and he escaped his abusive father. They were lucky to end up at the camp. As adults, she's taking a break from a high powered law firm and a possible broken engagement and he's doing what became a regular part of his life and helping at the camp each summer. They will find out if they can leave their pasts behind and find a future together. A nice second chance story.
Easy 2 for 1 read. There are two novellas in this book by different authors. The stories are not connected in any way. I preferred the the first story, “Cowboy wanted” by Linda Lael Miller. I just thought it was more interesting and focused on finding love after loss. It was a cute, chaste story and was a very easy read. The second story by Maisey Yates was more focused on second chance romance between two people who fell in love at a summer camp for troubled youth. The story wasn’t bad, but it’s because of the length it wasn’t super developed and the couple reconnected very fast. This contained an open door scene, but it was not too spicy. Overall these were quick reads and would be a nice library rental.
Thank you, Kensington Publishing, for providing this book for review consideration through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
4.5⭐️ This book consists of two novellas so if you're looking for a short palate cleanser and quick read you may want to consider these.
In the first book, Cowboy Wanted, Kendra and Gage have both experienced loss and are having to heal their broken hearts. They both have to start over and together they begin to heal.
In the second book, One More Summer With You, Jane and Spencer haven't seen each other in years, except for one very brief moment, since they were both troubled youth and were sent to Camp Low Echo. This is a second chance romance and getting to know each other now that they're both successful adults.
Both books are short, but good, and I wish they had been longer so we could get more in depth with the storylines. Both are satisfying reads that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
This is a Collection of two Cowboy Romance Novella. The first one in this collection is Cowboy Wanted by Linda Lael Miller (4 Stars). I really enjoyed this book. I got pulled into this story, and I could not stop reading this book. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters. I wished that this book was longer, and the ending was not the best. The second book in this collection is One More Summer With You by Maisey Yates (4 Stars). This book touched my heart so much, and I loved getting to know the characters. I did have an issue with the cheating that happened in this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
Summer With My Cowboy contains two separate stories.
Cowboy Wanted by Linda Lael Miller I adored this cute story about two people, Kendra and Gage, who absolutely deserved a second chance at love after a loss. A fast paced story that I very much enjoyed. Although it took a massive leap from just getting to know each other to the epilogue, one year later, this is my favourite of the two stories in this book.
One More Summer With You by Maisey Yates Also second chances for this couple, Jane and Spencer. After a period of 15 years, they meet again at summer camp, except they’re counselors now instead of the troubled kids they once were. A bit slower, but I really liked the ending of their story.
Thank you Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for providing an arc of this ebook.
This book is an easy 2 novella read by different authors.
Maisey Yates is an autobuy author for me. Beautiful settings, handsome cowboys and a little bit of angst before a happy ending... yes please! And her novella One More Summer with you did not disappoint. Can I just move to Oregan and meet my cowboy now?!
I didn't enjoy the first story, Cowboy Wanted as much as I thought I would, but it was still a good read.
Definitely worth reading for fans of either author.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book
Two wonderful stories! I love when these two authors match up on a book. They’re both great at happily ever after. When I’m in a slump, I know I can read one of their books and finish feeling good. Both stories were magical and left me satisfied yet wanting more. What’s better than a sexy cowboy. Provided by NetGalley.
This is a great duo of stories. One is starting over and second is about secondchances. I have to say the first story was my favorite. It had more twists and turns and you just can't put it down. Both are fast reads and leave you feeling good at the ending.
