It is so refreshing to read a clean romantic comedy! This is another good book by Mary Jane that I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters are interesting and entertaining. I'm looking forward to the next adventure!
A solid cozy but just seemed to have something missing. She has managed to open her bakery. Money is tight and again she is hoodwinked out of her prize money. However a stranger is found dead but it appears that he was poisoned even though he only had a few months to live. What is the link between them? Will he ever be identified? Will she and her boyfriend ever spend time together? Who plotted the stranger's death and why? The plot was okay, but the characters seemed slightly unreal.
This is the second book in this series and I loved it! I really enjoy a cozy mystery that surprises you with the culprit and this one delivered on that aspect. I fell in love with Star, Tyler, the Butterworth sisters, and Benny all over again. However be warned, as you go along in the story you'll either be searching out a bakery in your own city to buy the deliciously described desserts or be trying out your hand in your own kitchen!
Promise finds Star Bloom, her grandmother, & diner friends engaged in opening a bakery. Star learns quickly that money doesn’t go very far when setting up a business. Star finally found true love, but their trial is just a beginning. To fulfil future aspirations, they must be apart by events, distance, and life-long dreams.
I thought that Star and Tyler had so hard decisions to make about their future and all of the friends helping with catching the murderer was very good. It wasn't until the murderer was caught that you could tell who did it.
What a great book! Loved all the twists and turns. Certainly kept me on alert. I could feel the connection between the characters, felt the strength of their friendships! What a great feel good book!
There were twists and turns which kept me reading. The characters were believable and interesting. I particularly liked Benny. Of course, talk about all those pastries kept me drooling.
