A detective come S3rial k!ller/vigilante if you prefer, as Silas only goes after those nefarious folk, the ne’er do wells who are out to abuse others who are unable to protect themselves. Until, Charlotte he always worked alone, he saved her, took her in, made her his own and vice versa. Though he is older than her the pull between them is strong, their darkness calls to one another. Side entrance Blake Sterling from the FBI, sent in to aid the detectives’ search for the ‘white rose reaper’ but he in turn uncovers hidden secrets 😱…
If muggle life hadn’t intervened, I would have read this in one sitting. Gracie has the ability to lead you into the story, simmering you until the point you are going into a boil to learn the truths and then BAM! She hits you with a hum dinger, ensuring you’re teetering with a cliffy that leaves you gulping like a goldfish out of water! It was intriguing, leaving unanswered questions, the amusing banter and a small amount of spice to add to the already building need for the second book right now 🤭
Monsters Among Us - Release Date September 17,2025.
Monsters among us was my first book from @graciewilliamsauthor, and it was a literary delicacy that I absolutely devoured.
I loved the tortured past, Morally Grey, broody, sexy aspect of the MMC Silas. The duality of his personality. I've never been one to enjoy Age Gap tropes. However, the banter between Silas and Charlotte made me giggle.
Charlotte's opposite personality complimented Silas' broodiness so well. She's funny, quirky , innocent with a hint of darkness and bravery melting the composed, harsh exterior Silas has worked so hard over the years to create.
When I initially read through the trigger warnings, I was a bit worried if I'd be able to make it through this book. However, once I started, I couldn't stop. It's a dark romance with graphic details and unpredictable twists. Witty humor and a slow burn. The cliffhanger at the end gave me goosebumps, and I'm in desperate need of Book 2 now to see where that cliffhanger leads
Whew, what a freaking ride! And ummmmm, I’m as not ready for that book to end! What do you mean, THE END!?!
Silas is a detective, sworn to protect the innocent and bring down the bad guys. He just had a couple of ways he does that, the one by the law and the darker side to him, the vigilante side where he seeks out those who have escaped the justice system. He is dark, complex, OCD, protective, but he is also has a softer side to him.
Charlotte..my heart broke for her. The things she went through, no child should ever have to endure. I am so glad that she accepted help from Silas and trusted him. And then…this girl decided she needed her own justice. I cheered her on! She had so much growth. She is done being that scared girl her mom controlled and it was time she took back some control.
This story was heart breaking, it was dark, bloody, and will have you turning that page begging for more. And at the end, you’ll be gasping at why it’s over and how you need more now. Danger is always lurking just around the corner.
Silas is just the morally grey man we all love. He's a detective in the same police department his father was sheriff during his youth. We learn about his rough childhood leading to him becoming a vigilante, taking out those that get away. Charlotte also has a rough childhood with an addict mom making her cam for money. She is also abusive and doesn't stop the men in her life from abusing Charlotte as well. Silas has a need to save her but Charlotte surprises him, she doesn't just want to be saved, she wants to share his world.
In this dark romance by Gracie Williams, readers are pulled into the dangerous allure of Silas—think Dexter, but sexier. His meticulously ordered world begins to unravel when Charlotte crashes into his life with her chaos. Together, they ignite a storm of desire, obsession, and ruin.
This is a story about trauma and survival, about love that’s as destructive as it is healing. With morally gray main characters and sharp edges on every page, Monster's Walk Among Us explores what happens when two broken people collide—and find meaning in each other’s darkness.
Oh did I thoroughly enjoy this book so very much YES I did! Now I'll be totally honest with my opinion and thoughts I am not a fan of any age gap when the FMC is a teenager and it was true in this book But I was won over in the story.
She's a senior in high school, ignored, used and abused by her mother and mother's drug dealer/s. He's a cop who is more serial and vigilante but the story of these two where and what they've lived through is so very deep and disturbing.
I savored every minute of this writing I had to keep stopping because I did not want it to end. How many can say that for a book or author they enjoy ? Gracie's writing is superb and though I'm left with such an intriguing cliffhanger ugh... I cannot wait for book 2 !!
This story was very interesting and keeps you guessing. The MC have a lot of their own trauma and hardships. The story itself has a lot of depth and character building.
Silas and Charlotte are two MC that are strong and had to grow up way too fast. My heart hurts so much for everything Charlotte has been through.
You’re definitely going to cry when reading this story.
The books cliff hanger has me needing to know what happens next!! I need to know what happens next!!!!
Thank you so much for letting me be an ARC reader for your book! These opinions are my own!
I stared at the words ‘The End’ for some time hoping I was seeing things. Hoping it wasn’t the end. I NEED more! I couldn’t stop reading once I started! Love this book! The characters! Silas ~ I love both sides, the light/protective and the dark/violent side! Charlotte ~ she is so amazing and strong! Wow! I can’t wait for book two!
Gracie has completely outdone herself on this one. Silas is both the antihero and the savior in one and total BBF material. Charlotte our little innocent FMC may not be as innocent as she seems.
As Charlotte’s past trauma pushes her to be strong and escape it all she runs right into the one man that may be both her kidnapper and the man she never wants to let go.
Silas has his own past trauma that he has used to fuel his future to right the wrongs and strictly follow his rules to ensure he is never discovered.
What happens when Charlotte comes into the picture and he begins to slip on the very own rules he swore would remain in place for life.
Charlotte is a spitfire while Silas views himself as a Monster. But is he really?
Whew 🤯 Where to start? If you’re into possessive, broody, protective, morally gray MMC’s then this book is for you. The FMC has a witty mouth and allows for fun banter. This dark romance is a slow burn but once it goes down… IT GOES DOWN. The plot is very entertaining and there are unpredictable twists and turns. The author kept me on my toes the entire time. If I didn’t have to adult, I could have easily read this book from beginning to end in one sitting. It was riveting, emotional, intense, and oh so hotttt 🥵 I need Book 2 NOW. Who doesn’t love cops and serial killers? 😜
ARC Review- Monsters Walk Among Us follows detective Silas Voss as he moves through his days leading a double life. Things hadn’t always been this way, but after a childhood of abuse, fear, and trauma, Silas vows to reconcile his past while in his present by punishing those complicit in the cause of his pain. He decides to serve justice to criminals during the day and serve justice to monsters, people who commit heinous acts, at night. While following a lead on a recent crime committed by one of his latest monsters, Silas’ life intersects with young woman Charlotte Ames, a girl with a troubled home life and an equally troubled past. Will Silas be able to continue following his usual regiment, staying inside the lines of what he feels called to do or will he become so distracted by beauty Charlotte, that he veers outside of the so-called lines of his rules and routine that will ultimately cause his demise? This was the first book that I have finished by author Gracie Williams, and I am wishing I had discovered her work sooner. She pens this story with skill and precision, crafting a twisty yet gut-wrenching story filled with spicy romance, grief, suspense, and trauma with healing in the characters’ own ways. The main characters Silas and Charlotte are both broken souls in a broken world whose lives come crashing into each other in what could only be described as divine timing. It feels like they were each meant to heal something within the other while also falling for each other in this broken place. I didn’t want to put this story down, and the cliffhanger ending will have me reeling until book two’s release. Would highly recommend to any dark romance readers that enjoy a story with a dark plot, spice, and a hint of suspense. Think along the lines of the tv series Dexter but spicy. Enjoy!
Choosing a dangerous obsession can consume you, leading you down a path of destruction and despair."
When two broken souls fell in love, their love became the cure that healed every scar. This is what Silas and Charlotte did with each other . They met they connected they felt the warmth and loved each other like anything. The plot was sooo point on this book i mean hands down to the best dark romance of 2025 goes to monsters among us by gracie Williams. The class she carried through her writing representing each and every scene by fitting each character made me feel like more than reading I am watching this novel as a beautiful adaptation of a movie and trust me with a coolest cast this will hits board .
If we talk about our main characters mmc fmc both were broken in their life . Silas (he is my husband now I am wearing his imaginary ring please) he is everything what a girl require in a man . He is obsessed , protective , sweet , dangerous, malice , soo much in his conscious I mean HOW CAN SOMEONE NOT DESIRE HIM AS THEIR OWN HUBBY .
On the other hand Our doll Charlotte broken soul soon to be 18 Charlotte she saw more than her entire life before because of her mom but guts to the babydoll she never left hope she fought for herself she stood up for herself this is the best thing I love in this book.
If we talk about smut in this book trust me when I say this . Its a dark romance yet yet yet author is sooo magnificently fitted the smut part in the book that it wasn't the whole plot it was the part of the plot . but now I am hanged in cliffhanger cant wait for part 2 Kiddos to gracie she did a fabulous Job in cant ecen explain my happiness for this book i loved it sooo soo sooo much glad to be in arc 😊
I’ve never been really big on vigilantes because they have this “I’m a monster because I rid the world of threats to society” mentality that is often repeated so many times during the book. And while this may be the case in this book as well, everything else was absolutely perfect. This book was mindblowingly beautiful. I don’t think it’s necessarily very thrilling, apart from those last parts that really got me. But it’s the whole message and theme of this book. He’s been alone most of his life, and ever since his mom died when he was 11, he’s never truly felt love. So it’s the most beautiful thing when he meets this broken girl, he sees and understands what she’s going through, and is there for her, even if kidnapping is an unconventional way of showing that. I have a soft spot for two broken souls that are perfect together. They’ve both had such terrible childhoods and it’s beautiful watching them open up to each other and finally heal. And also I loved watching Charlotte become a badass. And this man! He has pretty bad OCD, but he broke all his rules for her. Also this book is the first in a duet and ended on a killer cliffhanger, I just wish there was a little more buildup to it. Like everyone’s happy then at the last line “oops something happened”. Either way I’m so looking forward to the next book! I give this a 4.5/5
Silas is a detective, upholding the law, at least in the daylight. In the darkness however, he hunts the depraved who hide behind their seemingly noble positions and places. He may be a monster, but he is making sure the true monsters are paying for their deeds. He has a set of rules. Rules that keep the monster in check, keep his identity secret, and keep others safe from him. He lives by these meticulously laid out rules under her, Charlotte, a victim who suddenly has him dropping all his walls and rules.
Charlotte has been preyed upon her whole life. Her mother, an addict and alcoholic, never provided a safe and stable environment for her. She has always had to fend for herself and demean herself to support her mother's habits. When things take an even worse turn, it's Silas who notices her, who is the first person to care about her and save her from that life. Silas does not want to Charlotte to see the darkness in him; in fear she will run away. But what if the darkness in Silas matches the darkness Charlotte that is just waiting to be free?
I really enjoyed this book but be warned it is dark and graphic. Please check your triggers before going in. I love the duality of Silas' character, the morally dark grey character I always like to read. Charlotte is young, and she reads young at first, but I appreciate her growth over the course of the book. There is a decent age gap (18 and 31) and he did know her right before she turned 18 but nothing happens physically between then until after. One last warning, the book ends on a cliffhanger! So keep in mind you do not get any type of closure in this book. Looking forward to book two next year!
Silas becomes a monster since his mom Cynthia passed, and he gets rid of the people that wrong him and others. Silas is a detective, and he vowed to right the wrongs in a messed-up world . By day, Silas is a detective, and by night, he is a serial unaliver. Charlotte had a traumatic past and thought no one saw her until Silas and he saved her, and Charlotte awoken a monster she didn't know she had. This book does end on a cliffhanger. Silas gave me Dexter vibes, and I was here for it. I absolutely love this book, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
This story grabbed me by the throat from the very first page. Silas isn’t your typical antihero—he’s brutal, unflinching, and unapologetically lethal. By day he’s the law, but by night he is the law, serving a darker justice that the system ignores. The duality of his character—hero and monster—was fascinating and kept me completely hooked.
Charlotte’s perspective balanced the story beautifully. Her pain felt raw and real, and when she collided with Silas, it wasn’t your usual “damsel rescued” trope. Instead, it became something darker and far more compelling: a woman discovering strength through the very monster who terrifies everyone else. The push and pull between vulnerability and power, fear and desire, was addictive to read.
The chemistry between Silas and Charlotte is twisted, passionate, and unlike anything I’ve seen in a romance. It isn’t pretty—it’s jagged and bloody—but that’s exactly what makes it feel so real. Their connection thrives in the shadows, and it made me question where the line between saving and corrupting really lies.
The writing style is sharp, cinematic, and atmospheric, with lines that made me stop and reread just to soak them in. If you enjoy dark romance that isn’t afraid to dig into the messy depths of morality, obsession, and love born from darkness, this book will stay with you long after you finish.
SPOILERS So, there are a lot of great things about this book. The biggest one for me is I love a vigilante killer, like Dexter. tipping the scales- so they usually say- against all the bad people out there! I love an older man and an age gap (more on that below). The writing flowed, and I thought the spice had the right amount of description. Sometimes it's too fast or too much, this had 2 or 3 for the whole book, which I thought was just right. Actually, I had different spicy scenes than everything else I've read before (body shots, anyone??).
Now here's where I'll be a prude and say what I didn't like and why I knocked off a star. I don't do the "just turned 18" trope. I find it inherently pedophilic that the 1st sexual encounter is on her 18th birthday after they've been drinking.. also, taking into account that she was forced into sex work and felt that was the only time she was appreciated. Then our mmc swoops in and is kind to her, even stating she shouldn't do this because she doesn't owe him. It's spun as a "she's reclaiming herself and it's what she wants," but if someone is groomed to crave sexual attention because it's the only nice interaction they have in their life....maybe mmc could have held off for longer. it rubbed me the wrong way, and I tried to like it, but mentioning that he felt a connection to her from her underage sex work photo he was keeping as evidence????? That just didn't vibe with me, sorry GW. EDITED TO ADD I absolutely do not mean to yuck anyone's yum and an adult is an adult. I just did not enjoy that the story started with fmc being underage.
I really did like the premise of killer and sidekick/romantic partner, but I want romance books with ADULTS involved otherwise I just feel icky. As someone who came from an abusive household I sexualized myself young, reading about it made my heart hurt for fmc! mmc was a "good" person but fmc could have been written older and it still would have worked.
I devoured this book in one sitting!!! This book deserves more than 5 ⭐️s!!! I couldn’t put it down!!! MWAU had me giggling like a lunatic and screaming when it ended!! 😳😳😳 (how far away is 2026??!!) I loved the banter between the 2 MCs, they just clicked so well together and the chemistry was perfect!!! The slow burn was torture, but whooaaa, it was worth the wait!!!
Silas is a detective by day and vigilante by night, and a man with a haunting past!! He does what the law doesn’t and he does it with creative flair. He fights corruption and punishes the people who get away with heinous crimes! His attitude, his humor, his OCD tendencies and clever demeanor make him a lovable serial killer!! He’s meticulous with his crimes and follows a strict set of rules in order to avoid being caught!! But when he meets Charlotte, his rules get shot all to hell!!! He may be a monster, but for her, he will be her protector!!
Charlotte is a young girl who hasn’t had an easy life. Her mother has made her do unspeakable things and made her life hell!! When a stranger comes to her aid and wants to help her, she’s obviously skeptical however, he doesn’t ask for anything in return, he makes it clear, he only wants to help her!! When she’s essentially sold to her mom’s dealer to cover debts, the stranger ultimately comes to her rescue in the most EPIC way!!!And when she’s asks him to help her seek revenge, he reluctantly agrees!!
Includes 🩸 Serial killer with interesting technique 🔪 Age gap 🩸 Forced Proximity 🔪 Tortured Past 🩸 Cop MMC 🔪 NonCon 🩸 Black Cat 🔪 Childhood Trauma 🩸 Anti-hero 🔪 Kidnapping 🩸 Protector MMC 🔪 Slow Burn 🩸 One Bed
“It’s not as easy to make evidence go away when it’s still breathing.”
"Well Princess, I'm really sorry but we are unable to accommodate that request here at the Voss Hotel. We only have one room available tonight and it's a single bed. So, it looks like we're bunking together. I'll stay on top of the covers, you'll stay cuffed, and we'll be just fine."
"Don't threaten me with a good time. You can run all you want, and when I find you, because I'll always find you-I'll stripe your ass red for running then bring you back home. If any part of that sounds fun to you, by all means Princess... run. I'm game."
"You taste like lime and bad decisions," he whispers against my skin, teeth grazing over my nipple just hard enough to make me gasp. "It might be my new favorite flavor."
eARC Review: This book dragged me straight into hell…and I liked it there. I stayed up until 6 a.m. THIS MORNING and finished this bad boy!!! Like a sleep-deprived lunatic, knowing damn well I had adult shit to handle in a few hours later (which is now and I regret nothing!!!). But once I met Silas? There was no fucking way I was putting this book down. Silas is the kind of vigilante anti-hero you fantasize about when you’re pissed off at the world. He’s a detective by day, a monster-slaying reaper by night, and a walking contradiction with OCD tendencies, killer instincts, and a twisted moral compass that somehow makes him sexy AF. He’s got rules… He’s got trauma… And when he meets Charlotte? All that shit goes out the window!!!!! Charlotte is a cheeky, sharp-tongued survivor who’s been through absolute hell. Her mom’s a fucking bitch and a nightmare, her life’s been trashed by addicts and abusers, and yet she still manages to hold her own (strong ass kid!). She doesn’t just want saving..she wants revenge. And Silas? Well.. let’s just say… HE FUCKING DELIVERS!!! Oooooweeee!!! Their chemistry was everything!!!. The banter had me giggling like a lunatic middle of the night, and the slow burn was slow buurrning..pure torture. But when it hits? It hits hard. Like scream-into-your-pillow, throw-your-kindle-across-the-room hard. Gracie Williams’ writing is fucking awesome. The pacing, the emotional gut punches, the cliffhanger that made me want to throw hands..it’s all top-tier. She doesn’t tiptoe around the dark. She dives in headfirst and drags you with her. And you’ll thank her for it. I savored every page. And now? I need book two like yesterday!!... I’m buying whatever Gracie drops next IMMEDIATELY. No hesitation. No regrets.
⚠️ Trigger warning⚠️: This book is DARK. Abuse, trauma, age-gap dynamics (yes, she’s a teen, and yes, it’s handled with depth and nuance). If you’re not ready to face the monsters, don’t open the damn door.
OMG! What did I just read?! This book started out with me thinking I knew what was happening and when I realized the author was veering off the beaten path, I knew I was so wrong and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.
Silas is a detective sworn to protect the innocent—and he does just that even if some of his methods are unconventional. When he steps in to protect Charlotte, he’s left with no choice but to ladynap her to keep her from going to the police. Charlotte, desperately needing someone to love and protect her, can’t help but fall for Silas because although he is a monster, he’s kind and caring to her. As their relationship grows, danger is right around the corner risking the future of not only their love but their lives.
I love Silas’ dark and complex character— from massive OCD to self-hatred created from past trauma, his vulnerability pulled on my heart strings, and I just wanted to see him let himself be loved and heal. Charlotte has an equally traumatic past but her feisty confidence and ability to meet Silas’ craziness head on, made her a FMC you’re cheering for. When dominant Silas shows up, the spice takes a delicious turn toward sizzling, and I would let this man handcuff me anytime!🥵
The story is unpredictable and the plot twists and surprises kept me on the edge of my seat right up to the book-throwing worthy end. I am obsessed with Charlotte and Silas, and I need book two now! This is a clever and well written dark romance suspense and includes tropes such as age gap, morally grey characters, a protector antihero MMC, forced proximity, and slow burn that delivers on the spice. Cannot recommend enough! I pre-ordered myself a shelf trophy for this one!
First and foremost, DO NOT SKIP THE TWS and the full list of tropes! MWAU is not for the faint of heart. When Gracie W. said dark she meant it. The lists are accurate and not exaggerated.
With that being said, if you love morally gray men, broken girls with black cat vibes, and a splash of 🌶🌶🌶 all wrapped up with a side of vigilante justice, a dash of trauma bonding with your captor, and an age gap of 10+ ➡️ This your book!
This isn’t your typical love story. MWAU sucks you in within the 1st chapter, and they're just setting the stage. It’s gritty, intense, and emotional in all the best (and worst) ways. Silas is haunted by his past and walks the line between being Charlotte's protector and the very monster he hunts. His particular brand of justice brings them together, but chemistry and moral ambiguity makes them stay. Silas is an anti-hero that makes no excuses and is only soft for her, and Charlotte has no interest in changing him. She's had to grow up fast to survive, and her rose-colored glasses were shattered a long time ago.
Williams' writing style and the psychological complexity of the MCs makes this book both memorable and gripping. Be prepared to not put it down. This was my first book by the author, and it definitely won’t be my last.
WHAT DID I JUST READ!? Silas: a tortured soul that's out for revenge on the evil doers in the world. fueled by the murder of God mom by his abusive fathers own hands. Charlotte: a 17 year old girl being emotionally and verbally abused by her alcoholic, druggie mom. being made to perform acts online to pay for her mom's habits.
Both abused by parents who didn't care about them at all.
This book was dark and twisted. But satisfying at the same time. I love that Silas takes out the trash in the world. and he saves Charlotte from a disgusting man
together the two are funny, sarcastic, twin souls. they need each other more than they realize. and they're good together. Everything about this book had me turning pages. I didn't want it to end! I'm dying over here to know what happens next! I've never read anything from Gracie Williams before. but I'm impressed. wicked amazing book. and I'll be patiently waiting for the next book ❤️ oh and did I mention this is spicy? yes, yes it. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🥵
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Got this as an ARC. One of my favourite reads so far this year. I loved the way it was written, both the characters had a unique voice and the fmc!!! Oh lord the fmc! I need her in my life. She's sarcastic, bold, fierce, bratty.. everything you could dream of even after suffering sooo muchhhhh
"Been through some bad shit, I should be a sad bitch Who woulda thought it'd turn me to a savage?"
Damnn that's her!! KNEEL
i devoured it in 3 days only cuz life is getting too much to deal with otherwise 3 hourse babe
The MMC is the exact shade of morally grey I want, not nom chalant, open book to het yet so very mysterious. I love the way his brain works, the amount of control he has is something I would look up to even though it's complete insanity.
Am i forgetting something??
Spice??? Grab some buckets and put them beneath your chairs, you r gonna need it!
The plot was well developed and tbh I'm very very excited for the second book. And what do u mean it ended in a cliffhanger and the next book doesn't come out until next YEAR??? I'll never forgive you gracie
I absolutely LOVED this book. Gracie Williams has outdone herself with this one. I was a little nervous and skeptical when I learned the MMC was a police officer and the age gap had me giving a little side eye until I actually read the book. This book absolutely destroyed and exceeded my expectations in the best way possible. This book had me questioning my morals and cheering on these twisted broken characters with my whole chest. The multi-POV was done so well. I felt like I was able to experience and engage with all the characters and see the full picture of the plot events as they played out. The back-story of these characters was very dark and heart breaking. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart. The abuse experienced by the MCs was brutal but understanding is necessary in order to be on board with the dark and morally grey events taking place in the plot of this book. The plot twist was unexpected and made the book somehow even more intriguing that it already was and final cliffhanger had me gasping. I can not wait to find out what happens next in book 2!
If you’re a fan of the show Dexter, then you’re in for a treat with this compelling novel centered around Silas, a character who captures both fascination and horror. This book is five stars for me, and for good reason! Unlike Dexter, who exudes an unsettling vibe that keeps you on edge, Silas presents a more subdued facade, which makes him all the more intriguing. The writing is exceptional, pulling you in from the very first page. Gracie skillfully weaves a narrative that delves deep into Silas's past, giving us insights into the traumatic experiences that shaped him into the monster he has become. The exploration of his character is what truly sets this book apart. We are given a front-row seat to the events that led to Silas's dark transformation, enabling readers to understand, even if you don’t condone his actions. This emotional depth creates a complex portrait that blurs the lines between right and wrong, evoking empathy and revulsion in equal measures. Overall, this novel is a gripping psychological thriller that combines superb writing with rich character development. If you enjoy stories that explore the darker sides of humanity, you will absolutely love this book. Prepare yourself for a hauntingly memorable experience that stays with you long after turning the last page. Highly recommend!
Two tortured souls. One seeking freedom from her present, the other seeking retribution for his past.
Silas
Meticulous, calculated, precise. Detective by day, but something else entirely by night. The last thing you’ll ever see if you’re on the list.
“From the ashes of my grief, a new creature was born.”
Every piece of his well thought-out puzzle is falling into place, nearing an end, when a wrench is thrown into his plans, bringing his crucially crafted routine to a screeching halt.
Charlotte
Nihilistic, defiant, nothing to lose
Broken down and betrayed more times than she can count, she’s got a screw-you attitude and a distrust for anyone pretending to care about protecting her. Starving, desperate, and filled with rage.
When a terrifying encounter leaves her with no other option, it sends her running to Silas to seek refuge. Little does she know, he is far more terrifying than anything she could ever imagine. Is the devil you know better than the devils you don’t?
“I'm going to send them all to hell for you. One by one until there isn't anyone left standing but me.”
Join Silas and Charlotte on a thrilling, morbid, scorching journey together to right the wrongs they’ve faced in their dark pasts.
Monsters Walk Among Us is the first book in the Ruthless Monsters trilogy and I must say after reading all of Gracie Williams novels and loving them all she has managed to blow me away with Silas and Charlotte's story. Two broken souls that unexpectedly find comfort and trust in each other after those that should have kept them safe caused them the most harm. As I was reading I found myself going through several emotions and literally pacing the floor from the very beginning. I definitely felt like I was watching an episode of a new suspenseful romantic thriller on Netflix with morally gray characters, questionable decisions, laugh out loud banter, tons of trauma and within all that the perfect amount of spice that had me devouring this book wishing I could read it again for the first time, but I am looking forward to the reread especially since it did end on a one heck of draw dropping cliffhanger. I definitely recommend reading this book, but as always when reading dark romance check out the listed triggers beforehand.
This book? A dark, emotional gut punch — in the best way possible. Monsters Walk Among Us kicks off the Ruthless Monsters Series with Silas — a broken, dangerous man fueled by trauma, vengeance, and a twisted sense of justice. It’s haunting, brutal, and completely addictive.
💀 What I Loved: • Silas isn’t your typical hero — he’s complex, morally gray, and will have you questioning your own sanity for rooting for him. • The balance of action and quiet reflection? Chef’s kiss. Every moment feels earned. • Gracie Williams’ writing pulls you straight into the darkness — raw, vivid, and impossible to look away from.
⚠️ What to Know: • Heavy content ahead: abuse, trauma, revenge — it’s not a light read, so tread carefully. • This isn’t a “feel-good” story, it’s a feel-everything story — pain, rage, heartbreak, hope.
🔥 Final Thoughts: If you love dark romance with psychological depth, antiheroes who make you feel things you shouldn’t, and writing that claws its way under your skin — Monsters Walk Among Us is your next obsession. Just remember… not all monsters hide in the dark.
Silas Voss- Detective turned Vengeance Angel aka Serial Unaliver. Growing up in an @busive household, which ultimately led to his mother being taken from him at a young age, caused Silas to want to seek justice, not only for his mother, but for all the innocent women and children who were failed by the justice system.
Charlotte - Growing up in a neglected household, forced my her "mother" to do things she didn't want to do just so she could get money to fund her next fix.
Silas is leading an investigation that ultimately leads him to Charlotte as being a possible victim. Things take a turn and he ends up taking her to his house... NOT what he planned at all...
Things heat up everywhere for Silas... home.. work.. and his extra curriculars...
That CLIFFHANGER!!!! Absolutely can't wait to see what else Gracie has in-store for us in the next book.
