Wowza! That was great. As the dust finally settles from dealing with the Villon clan. Maximilian runs headlong into another skirmish this time it's the Siphon clan and Princess Regina has taken umbrage to Octavia's friendship with Max. With Octavia's life at stake Max has vowed to save her!!! But first he's gotta get his grandfather's co-operation! And Ohhhh you remember a couple of books or 3 ago Max and his cohorts stole his grandfather's phylactory. Well Max did too, and he has the perfect vessel for Grandfather Karl to inhabit, Armond Salazar!!! I say it's just soooooooo rich, a fitting end to Armand's life/death!
Yeah go snatch this book up, to feed your addiction!

Here's a couple of quotes:

"I figured there was no need for them to engage in battle while dressed up. They might accidentally break a heel..."

"Funny how all that much-lauded modern technology, fueled by abomination, couldn’t measure up to one good chimera."

I received a review copy of this book.

Ahh, we finally see something the main character has been preparing for a long time finally come to fruition. And, of course, old enemies are beginning to press in on all sides. We see mostly difficulties in this book, and few triumphs, but they say the character of a person is defined by how they handle adversity, and Max certainly isn't isn't sitting around waiting for things to happen, so I suspect there will be new and interesting changes in the next book or two.
If you've been reading, then there's no need to stop now, you should appreciate the direction in which the story has headed now.

was a bit slower paced

Very good read, regardless of the pace. It seems this was a “building world” kind of installment. I also did not appreciate the minimal pages. Too short. The Regina conflict was built up, and then we were left holding the bag at nearly the beginning of the conflict. AUTHOR: more pages! Come on. This hardly qualified as a book. He story is good. Now, in upcoming books, finish one conflict and move onto another. This book was not satisfactory.

This book is a bit slower than the last as the MC has to deal with several loose ends, deal with projects and deal with new threats by activating a rather interesting asset.

This book introduces some new much needed comedic relief. Blanche is lucky to find two new complentary companions for herself. One to bring her to heaven and one to bring her down to Earth. 😉

Disturbing Lich

It looks likeRichter may have met his match, because even after pulling in the big cahuna he is still being outmaneuvered. It seems Max will have to be very creative

Wait for next book

Not worth an individual purchase. You're going to need to wait for both books to be able to enjoy this book.
