The finale to The South-Hurst Syndicate Series.

Dorien "D. Lowe" Loweman has lived most of his life in the shadows. Trained as a child, forged into a mercenary, and now the coldest enforcer in the South-Hurst Syndicate. Quiet, calculated, and lethal, D. Lowe trusts no one and loves nothing except his brothers. That is, until Stacey Monroe, an abuse survivor with a daughter and a guarded heart, crashes into his world.

Fleeing a violent husband who wears both a badge and mask of rage, Stacey has no time for anything other than survival. But when D. Lowe offers her safety, peace and something ever rarer... patience, she begins to trust again. Slowly, gently, their connection grows from protection to partnership. From survival to sacred.

But you have to fight for peace in South-Hurst.

Her abusive husband, a dirty cop named Tyson Monroe escalates a twisted vendetta against the Syndicate. D. Lowe is forced back into the life he thought he buried. One of strategic warfare, and ghosts with familiar faces. With the Syndicate and their women under attack, and Stacey and her daughter in danger, D. Lowe must reveal secrets that could destroy everything.

As his past collides with his future, the quiet soldier must fight a final fight... for love, redemption, and the right to finally step out of the shadows.

D.Lowe stole my heart!! 🥹💕
This man was EVERYTHINGGGG!!! A gentle giant!! I wasn’t expecting him to be so sweet, loving & nurturing to Stacey & her daughter! We really didn’t learn too much about him in the other books so I was surprised at the things he went through in his past & all he had endured!! He was such a strong guy & he needed someone like Stacey to soften him up!

Stacey went through a lot of Abuse & assault from her husband! He was TRASH! I wanted him GONE immediately 😒😭 I love the way the guys & their wives rallied around her & let her know she was protected as long as she was with them!

The lengths that D. Lowe went to, to keep Stacey & her daughter safe really made my heart smile!! I was literally cheesing from ear to ear at the way he rebuilt her confidence & gave her a safe space to be loved & cherished by him! This was such a good ending to the series!! I’m so sad that it’s over!!! I loved reading about all the guys & their ladies! If you haven’t already get into all 5 books! You won’t be disappointed!

This was the PERFECT ending to the Syndicate series! D.Lowe/Shadow was so mysterious throughout all 4 books and in this book we really got to know more about this fierce & quiet protector. I enjoyed watching him and Stacey find peace & safety in one another. Also my heart couldn’t take the cuteness of this big burly dangerous killer who turns into putty for a 3yr old who calls him Bear🥹

Tyson was HELL ON WHEELS MAN and idk what took the Syndicate so long to decide to handle him😩I read with bated breath just wondering what he was going to do to them next. He wasn’t letting up. It made for an enjoyable and suspenseful read.

Just like in the other books. The brotherhood with the syndicate is profound. And we saw the table rattle just a bit with them in this book. But I love that no matter what challenge they face they face it together and forgive quickly.

Book touches on a couple sensitive topics like child soldiers, war crimes, SA and IPV.

The best was definitely saved for last. Loved how this storyline went totally of script compared to the rest. Enjoyed getting to know Shadows story. What a way to end the series.

💔🥺

Shadow Games ended the series out with a bang! I am hoping that there is a holiday follow-up or something because I don’t want to let these characters go. D. Lowe and Stacey took me through it emotionally! From the opening chapter, I was holding my breath because nobody deserves to deal with the pain that D. Lowe endured. And then add in the things Stacey and Destiny had to endure, I was literally unwell. But the way the family came together was beautiful.. a true village and example of family first. I couldn’t stand Detective Tyson, he made me itch!!! Ugh! 😩 Daddy Bear was just what Stacey and Destiny needed! I loved how the both of them healed together. 🤧😭❤️

now that is how you write the ending of a series

I have truly enjoyed reading all five books. Each of the siblings are crazy. They have their own thing going and it’s amazing that they all found love but what’s crazier is how they deal with problems, but I am all here for it lol hopefully we get to hear what they’re up to whenever she feels like writing about them again, but definitely one of my top five books for 2025

Gentle giant. Protector. That’s exactly who D Lowe was. We finally got to pull back the layers to his story and man what a journey it was. I’m happy how the series wrapped up in the end

Now this is how you write a book and end a freaking series!!! D Lowe was the security guy who didn’t say much at all and stayed in the background but you always felt him! He was truly a mystery until we got to his book. He had so many layers to him that was unfolded throughout the entire book. His story was filled with tragedy but he didn’t allow that to define him. It turned him into the protective king that did everything he needed to do to protect his family and eventually that protective king found his queen.
Then you had Stacy who endured so much from abuse from her dirty cop husband. He did everything he could to break her, she may have folded but she never broke. I loved witnessing her unlearn all the horrible things that Tyson made feel “normal”. She gained her strength back, learned her worth and showed her daughter how to be strong. Even though little Destiny was only 3 years old, she watched and observed the horror her mother went through. I was happy she got to witness her bear love her mother properly.
D Lowe was the perfect way to wrap this series up. He was truly the foundation to The Syndicate. He played in the shadows but his presence was felt always.
All in all The South-Hurst Syndicate was the perfect series. I liked some books more than others but this is one series I would highly recommend to anyone. So many plot twists, an emotional rollercoaster, this series kept making me want more and I kept wondering what would happen next. The love & loyalty that everyone had for each other was beautiful! Dominique Black gained a fan in me and I’m looking forward to her future books!

Rating 4.5 ⭐️ I love when the quiet character finally gets their story and you’re sitting there thinking, Wait… THIS is what made you who you are? It makes every previous appearance hit differently. What a way to end a series. I had all these theories about D. Lowe’s past but THIS wasn’t even on my bingo card. Suddenly everything about him made sense. The silence. The patience. The way he always seemed to be watching instead of talking. None of it was random. It was survival.

What I loved most was that after everything he’d endured, he didn’t become hard with the people he loved. He became gentle.

Reading him with Stacey was beautiful because he never tried to rush her healing. He offered protection without taking away her independence, patience without pressure and love without conditions. The way he was with babygirl 🥰 being her Bear. Whew that man wore the title of protector with so much tenderness.

This book also did exactly what a finale should do. It peeled back every layer and showed that nothing in this series happened by accident. Every relationship, every sacrifice, every secret was another brick laid in the foundation of The Syndicate. D. Lowe may have been raised to survive but Stacey and Destiny gave him something he’d never truly had a reason to live beyond survival.

Hands down, this was my favorite book in the series. It wasn’t just the ending. It was the heart behind the man who had been hiding in the shadows all along.

Finding Peace in the Shadows: A Beautiful End to the Syndicate

Next to Mo and Yaya, D. Lowe and Stacey’s story was easily my favorite. Shadow’s journey really showcased the author’s true creativity; in the previous books, not much was mentioned about him, and seeing why in this installment revealed how Author Dominique clearly saw the ending of the Syndicate’s story from the very beginning. This was such a beautiful story of two broken people healing each other with love without any pressure. I honestly thought Stacey was going to be the one to off her husband, but the author switched it up on us in the best way.

I loved how Shadow naturally stepped up to become the protector for both Stacey and Destiny. It was also so moving to see the strength and courage Stacey had to stay gone and survive, not just for her daughter but for herself. There was so much to love about this story, but I especially loved how Shadow indirectly brought healing to all his brothers. In the end, love found every one of them and a true family was built. Well done, Author Dominique, on a perfect finale!

Ok,ok ok, O K! (Spoiler alert)

I saved my review until I finished all 5 books. New to me author and I'm adding her to my list. I enjoyed each one of the books in this series for various reasons. The love, the loyalty, the stories themselves.
What Simone went through was wild and I was happy King and Mo got to her before worse happened.
It broke my heart what happened to Lucky. I get why Mo reacted the way he did, but he should've just told Yaya, not let her see the results. They one of my fav's for sure.
Andre, I'm still side-eyeing you, heavy. You lead that crazy girl on and then tried to downplay it. Playing with a persons heart is a no, but I'm glad he and Nina are on track.
Roc, listen. I don't condone cheating at all, but you had to get yo wife. Celeste was waiting on you anyway.
Amadou, coz that's what your parents named you. He had some heavy stuff happen and so did Stacey. They found each other and it was no rush.
I will say, soon as Candy introduced herself, I as like 'not Roc's mother!' But I didn't see the set up.
Overall, great series. Added to my collection for sure.

Loving Through the Shadows

D. Lowe is the quiet one, the killer, and the protector. He doesn’t say much, but he’s always watching and handling business. Raised to survive after losing his family at a young age, love was never something he thought was meant for him.

When Stacy and her daughter Destiny come into his life while running from her abusive husband, who also happens to be a dirty cop, everything begins to change. D. Lowe steps into the protector role naturally, but along the way he starts discovering what love and family could really feel like.

What made this story stand out was seeing a softer side of D. Lowe beneath all the violence and loyalty. His bond with Destiny was sweet, and the chemistry between him and Stacy felt genuine. Stacy’s husband added a lot of tension because he was determined to get her back by any means necessary, which kept the story intense.

Overall, this was a good mix of danger, loyalty, healing, and romance. D. Lowe may have been raised to survive, but Stacy and Destiny showed him there could be more to life than just surviving.

I think this was a great way to end this series. I didn’t know what to expect since D. Lowe is the most quiet of the group and it was very little details shared about him in the other books. I was able to realize that both he and Stacey were similar when it came to experiencing pain, and suppressing that pain just to get by. He was able to provide a safe space and protection for her and her baby girl, and that safe space led to a love that both of them deserved.

I was shocked to learn that D. Lowe was the real reason behind the Syndicate’s formation. The introduction of each member in the first book made us think King was the anchor of it all, but it really was Lowe. It was something formed out of extended protection intended for Roc, and also a way for Lowe to live a normal life and build a family/ brotherhood. Overall this was a great series. 👏🏾

Shadow and Stacey

Clap Clap Clap

D Lowe is the security guy. Always in the background, always watching, not speaking too much. More of his story is revealed. He is tapped to assist with getting a mother and daughter out of a horrible situation.

Stacey is running to save her daughter. She is married to a man who believes that control through fear is a marriage. She is introduced through Celeste after running to her restaurant.

The crew comes together to protect them, but they know there will be issues because of who her husband is.

She and D Lowe become close, and a relationship is developed. This process forced D Lowe to be truthful to his friends, which cause some friction for a while.

His story wraps up questions connected to the other members of the friend group.

OMG!! D. LOWE!!!

This is how you conclude a series!
The action, the drama, the backstory, the secrets, the pain, the karma, the redemption.. it all flowed well & tied together perfectly.

I knew from the start D. Lowe would surprise me, yet I was still shocked & amazed.
My Dorien, My BEAR! Mister protector & provider. Mr. Shadow.
Every member of TSHS is so tough, but is “tendernism” behind their ladies. & Lowe was the epitome of that. He was so careful and patient with Stacey & especially Destiny. The way he cherished them, hit me right in the heart. He was legit ready to go to war for them. & at the same time, he was a soft place for them to land.
I really have no notes.
I’m just glad to finally get to know him.

I’m attached to The Syndicate. I love them all real bad. I’m not sure what to do with myself now that I’m finished reading.
I’m gonna miss my lil family.

What a way to end the series! Baby Stacy and Destiny crashed into Celeste’s wine bar one night escaping her crazy tail husband!! Who just to happens to be a cop. This man tortured poor Stacy in every way! Sexually, verbally and physically abused her! And he didn’t give a damn about the daughter! Tyson was a sorry excuse of a nut! Kidnapping the Nephew was the lowest of low. And Grant!! You couldn’t leave well enough alone! Now look at you!!

Amadou!! Honey you survived so much! Overcame so much! Came out on top! Defeated all odds and created the family
You needed! Candy planted the seeds but you harvested them! Well deserved.

The men and woman of the Syndicate all grew up!! All evolved! Mo done rubbed off of YaYa. Had the Angel cussing lol! Geechie and Memere about to run them youngin’s fool!

I’m sad to see this end! I hope to get a Novella or an update about them in the future.

Bear, Beloved & Babygirl 🥰

What a way to close out The Syndicate 🥰 I loved Book 5 so much.. D. Lowe endured so much at a young age, seeing his sisters and mom raped and killed, then being forced to kill his own father.. that’s pain.. then brought to America living with pedophiles.. then underground boxing and then recruited by Candy to finally have his forever brothers and family.. then you have Stacey with her daughter Destiny who had been abused and beaten by her husband Tyson, who was also a dirty detective.. she ran for her life and got protection from The Syndicate.. it was very emotional at times and heartbreaking the things they both went thru.. but I loved the way Destiny loved her Bear 🐻 He fell for the daughter 1st 😘 Bear, Beloved & Babygirl.. Bear happy, I happy, Mommy happy, Family happy 🥰

Now this is how you write✍🏽‼️‼️‼️

This series gave everything I THOUGHT the Delgado/Inferno series would give.

Perfect pacing throughout the series. There were highs and lows and I felt like the reader’s feelings were considered in the building of this series. Although dark and graphic in some books it wasn’t overwhelming.
Because book 1 started with a bang. Really setting the tone. book 2 TOOK ME THROUGH IT with Lucky.
Book 3 gave some relief with prestige, family drama and fatal attraction.
Book 4 gave stalking, and the back and forth of cheating/leaving a marriage you outgrew.
Book 5, tied up loose end, revealed secrets, and ended the series the same way it began, with a bang and getting it back in blood . 🩸

Highly recommend‼️ and don’t skip a book ‼️

Favorite word "Beloved" can someone's child call me "Beloved"??
D. Lowe Dorien Amadou the MAN that you are, I don't how many times I screamed and kicked my feet when I was reading this book.

I loved how Destiny turned this man into a teddy bear, he fell in love with her cuteness the first time he saw her a clung on to him and call him "bear", ughhh that was cute.
Another thing I loved more about this book was the brotherhood of the syndicate, it's how they love and protect each other.
Yhoo, Tyson annoyed me, I felt like the syndicate took time to deal with his ass.

Dorien has been through a lot, the things he saw and endured, yeah he's a strong man. He's what Stacey and baby girl needed after what Detective Tyson put them through.

Tears of joy and sadness!

This series was so amazing. Shadow by far is my favorite of the men. His story filled with tragedy made a strong protective king who rightfully found his queen who like him deserved true happiness. It's bittersweet to end this series but I'm happy that everyone got their families and the love that they needed.

Everyone who tried to break them got what they deserved. At the end of the day the Syndicate men were more than just brothers, they were family and the way they rode for each other is why I loved them. Thank you Dominique for creating these beautiful men and for your amazing storytelling.

Signed, a reader for life!

Good Ending **Spoilers**

The beginning of the book was really good. I like how it was slowed down and we really got to see Lowe. Then once all was revealed it seemed sort of; not rushed per se but quicker and slightly convoluted. All I could think was why do you need the elder couple, yeah they helped but they all have the skills to do what was needed. And why did they even allow so much time to pass before they did something. Had they gotten rid of Monroe before he went to sweet Carmen’s they could’ve avoided the whole mess. Also, while I appreciate Candy D showing up, how she on some I want to be your mother now.

This was one hell of a way to wrap up this series!!

I loved this book baaaaaad!! Listen I wasn’t familiar with D Lowe’s game but that man was everything and more!

The way he and the family stepped up to protect Stacey and Destiny was beautiful. and don’t even get me started on how the little girl literally stoled his heart it was so cute 🥹

This book definitely had me stressed tf out especially when the villains were doing their thing, had me cussing everybody out 😭

D Lowe was definitely the fondation of the Syndicate and I love how his story explained that!

Chile I’m not ready to leave South Hurst cause I love it hereeeee 😭😭

Dorian and Stacy

So glad Stacy was able to get her and baby girl away. She deserves all the tender, loving, and care that her new found family provided for her. D. Lowe man my heart went out to him, he was just a child he had seen and done so much, but he was just a big gentle teddy bear. I hated he waited so long to tell his truth, some people was born to protect and the fact that everyone always called on him he needed a soft landing to fall on. Him and Stacy are so good together and he was so good to Destiny. Such a beautiful ending to this series.

This was the perfect ending to wrap up the series 🥹. I love this group so much; these men love their women fiercely, and the bond between them all is unmatched. The family, friendship, trust, and loyalty really stood out, and this one had me in tears more than once. They were exactly what each other needed.

This is how you close out a series; every storyline felt complete. Chef’s kiss. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Please read the trigger warnings before diving in!

From the darkness to light

Oh my heart! I truly had no idea what was gonna happen in this one but the way it was wrapped up was absolutely perfect.

D. Lowe aka Shadow has been quite almost the entirety of this series and we finally get his story. I honestly didn’t know what to expect and he definitely had some layers to him that I didn’t even think was possible for him to have.

Stacey came in literally needing help and in the process of being around this family found her own strength to get herself and her daughter to safety and to their forever family.

This series has been action packed since the first book and although I’m sad it’s over these characters will stay with me for a very long time.

Beautiful 💔

Dorian and Stacey warmed my heart. I loved the way he was so loving and patient with not only her but also her baby. Finding out about his past was so gut-wrenching. He went through so much at such a young age that it made my heart literally break for him. But this book is so much more than the romance because Dominique Black layers the story so beautifully. The way she's able to weave the love story in with Dorian's background while also answering questions the reader didn't even know they had was amazing.

Series is a bomb... 10 out of 10!

Hands down, this is one of the best series I've read! Top 5 at least. And we talking Danger series, Product if Street series, and a few other bangers! My favorite part of it all was the family. The bonds are amazing amongst the brothers and sisters too. I highly recommend anyone to read the series. My favs were 1, 4 and 5! But they're all too good! Bravo, Dominique! I'm speaking Wesleigh and Winston into existence as narrators of this series!!!! Yaaaaaaaaaas ❗️💥🔥❤️

This was a great way to end this series! I wasn’t really into Mo, Roc and Dre’s stories (for various reasons, the relationship between Dre and Nina felt disconnected to me so I didn’t finish the book, I’m not into cheating tropes so it was a no for me for Roc and Mo & Yaya… yeah I skimmed through to get the jist of their book). But Amadou aka Dorian was a great story to end things for the syndicate. A true ashes to beauty type of love! They deserved to be loved softly! Destiny was the cutest, she loved her bear!

I cant believe its over!

This was really good. All the connections made throughout this book are top tier. D. Lowe is the man. Out of all the men I think he is my fave. Stacey was so traumatized and this man showed her how to stand tall and say it with her chest. Did Mo ever apologize? Maybe I missed it. I like Mo but he was wrong for what he said to her.

I pray we get some updates or the kids continue the family legacy or something. I aint ready to let this crew go!
