Ghosts aren’t real. And historic lighthouses aren’t haunted.
At least, travel writer Eric Winters wants to believe that. But, while he’s here for a story about the Storm Point lighthouse, he’s seeing and feeling things he can’t explain. Even worse, that dark presence is summoning painful memories of the life Eric’s tried to leave behind ... and very real danger in the present.
Meredith Murray, sea-witch and lighthouse-keeper, tries to be good at his job. But ghosts aren’t his specialty, and the haunting is growing more powerful. The arrival of a gorgeous travel writer -- and obviously untrained psychic sensitive -- is a complication Mer doesn’t want. But Eric might be the answer he needs.
Storm Point is a contemporary novella that features a bit of an age-gap main couple. Younger Eric has struck out on his own to reclaim his sense of self after his ex-boyfriend and family’s reactions to his inexplicable abilities. Older Mer sees every responsibility as his own responsibility in the name of keeping his family safe. These two meet and nearly instantly fall for each other as they bond over the magic that flows through them–Eric by learning where his ability comes from and Mer by getting to share some of his burden with a willing partner.
Fans of K.L. Noone’s work are sure to enjoy this, contemporary love story with the perfect amount of heat. If you enjoy mysteries, insta-love tropes, and themes of hurt-comfort, then I think you’ll like a lot of what this story has to offer.
Engaging short story, to celebrate Lighthouse day Slightly paranormal with a water controlling ‘witch’ and an empath but not so out there that i could handle. Both Mer and Eric are lost souls who find themselves and each other whilst dealing with some ancient restless shipwreck ghosts
