A stolen life. A forbidden romance. An age-gap MM love story where desire becomes the most dangerous risk of all.
Tommy I didn’t mean to end up here—scraping by, following in my deadbeat dad's footsteps, chasing a version of myself that doesn’t feel real anymore. Then Adrian Ashford showed up, all control and calm danger, and suddenly I couldn’t tell if I was being saved or swallowed whole. He offers me work, a purpose, a way out of the trailer park. But every time he looks at me like that, I forget what I’m running from.
Adrian I built my life on discipline, on following rules that keep everything in order. But Tommy tests every one of them. He’s reckless, defiant, and too damn alive for the world I live in. The more I try to keep him at a distance, the more I find myself breaking the one rule the boss gave don’t touch him.
The Road to Us CollectionRun with the Devil is part of The Road to Us Collection, a series of interconnected queer romances about friendship, found family, and falling in love against the odds. Each book can be read as a standalone, but together they weave a larger story of love, loyalty, and connection.
M. Anderson (or just Em) writes spicy, heartfelt MM romance for readers who crave "squishy," feel-good love stories that still pack a serious emotional punch. Whether you are looking for the laugh-out-loud humor of her earlier works or the deep, soul-stirring emotions of her latest releases, Em’s books are grounded in cozy, character-driven charm.
She got her start building a community of dedicated readers on Wattpad, where she discovered her passion for writing flawed, highly relatable characters. Today, her books explore the healing power of nature, found family, and love in all its messy, beautiful forms—taking readers on journeys from slow-burn childhood romances to darker forbidden loves.
Em doesn't just write her stories, she is also an artist. She illustrates her own book covers and creates custom artwork for her worlds, allowing readers to fully immerse themselves alongside characters who feel like old friends.

I'm in love.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon "Home in Nevada" on KU & found the authors Instagram that led me to this very well written & amazing story.
So - while I try to sort my thoughts on this amazing book, I just start rambling.
I've read a lot of romance novels over the past few months - and I mean A. LOT.
Some were good, some bad, some DNFed & a few were amazing.
This book?
Amazing ♡
I loved every minute of it & couldn't put it down. It's sweet, it's spicy, it's captivating. It's been a while since I rooted so hard for a couple to get their HEA.
It has this kind of mafia setting - but different. They are both extremely sweet with & to each other. No mean fighting, no bad vibes in their relationship. Although Adrian is stalking Tommy, it never seems creepy or power-imbalanced. You can feel their love and devotion from the get-go.
Just - read it for yourself. You're gonna love it ❤️
The only bad vibes came from Tommy's "friends" & coworkers. And since I read this book first ( although it's the 3rd in this series) I kind of don't want to read the others because I hate the characters already a little bit for how they treat Tommy and - yeah- maybe he deserves it.... but I don't care. I already picked him as my favorite. Sue me. Just like his so called "best friend" is just a bitch. Not a friend. Friends are people who show up when you need them, even when it's inconvenient.
And- I really, really hope Darren gets a book. And soon. Please & thank you!

yes yes yes yes I love this. so much. it's heartwarming and the way it's written is easy to get into for my adhd ass, somehow. Beautiful story, made me feel so warm inside. i love this! I read this one first and will now be reading #1 #2 and #4 (oops)
I’d been in such a reading slump when I finally sat down to start reading this book, and it was exactly what I needed. It had the perfect balance of cosy moments and higher-stakes action, and I loved the romance between Tommy and Adrian. Although there is an inherent imbalance of power between them (Adrian is a highly-trained member of the local mafia, and Tommy is the new kid on the block who he trains up), it didn’t feel creepy or forced and Adrian at all points respected and cared for Tommy as an equal.
The plot starts out quietly, with Tommy just starting to train under Adrian and dealing with his stress of looking after his sister and his difficult work life, but things get more dangerous when the mafia boss decides he has it out for Tommy, who he believes is an unneeded distraction for Adrian. The way the stakes ramped up after the midpoint turned an already-enjoyable book into one I couldn’t put down. Especially when Tommy’s antagonistic co-worker, Darren, ends up being an ally to him and Adrian!
I’m super hyped knowing that Darren is getting his own book and can’t wait to read that next! Especially so I can see how his story might tie in with Tommy’s and Adrian’s since they're all part of the same universe <3
I'm unbelievably bored and spent the entire day trying to get myself to read this. The plot is such a drag and there's nothing really going on. Even Tommy's "character development" where Adrian helps him is already done by chapter 5 (started in 3-4).
Also get an editor or someone to read this and make some fixtures, chapter 3 is Adrian's pov but says Tommy. There was definitely a few things that needed fixing.
This was such a great read! The coming together of two broken souls and healing together 🥹 I was worried for a little bit but they finally got the ending they deserved ❤️
Can someone explain to me what’s romantic about criminals? About scum? About people who should be removed from society and rot in prison? The scene where he beats an innocent person for his own enjoyment was enough for me.
Mmm yeah this wasn’t for me. There were some editing issues where things were described being done twice (pulling off a helmet or turning off the bike’s ignition) that gave me a sense the rest of the book would be like that. Also, the dynamics of the two characters just wasn’t for me.
