The Traffic in Women: Human Realities of the International Sex Trade

Rate this book
This moving but unemotional account of the rapidly-expanding international traffic in women reveals it as a global issue. Using original, carefully-documented field studies from Thailand, it explores the nature and extent of the problem worldwide.

It demonstrates how the traffic in women and forced prostitution are aspects of transnational migration, now estimated to involve 70 million people worldwide. As forms of slavery, they are also grave violations of human rights. Avoiding rhetorical condemnation and simplistic solutions, the book shows how women themselves can be empowered to end the traffic and ends with detailed recommendations for change.

This book is an eye-opening presentation of the realities that exist in the world of human trafficking and, more specifically, the trafficking of women. This book is an account of the trafficking of women that exists globally and is based on research done by the Foundation for Women in Thailand. This book contains case studies of actual women trafficked and very detailed explanation of how this issue is a direct violation of certain human rights that have been agreed upon by many, if not most, of the nations in which the problem is out of control. This is a problem that we all need to educate ourselves on and, until then, none of us are safe!

This is on a topic we all need to educate ourselves on,it also helps us be more respectful. The only complain I have is a lot of things were repeated again and again which made it hard to focus a bit,but overall a very informative and helpful book.
