Nineteen-year-old Andrew Yendle is the last survivor aboard the moon base known as "Tranquility Station". All too often, hordes of raiding pirates visit the abandoned facility in order to scavenge equipment and supplies, forcing Andrew to hide until they leave. When the life support systems are dismantled by a group of American and British pirates, Yendle is backed into a corner and comes out fighting. Does a lone teenager have what it takes to fight off a vastly superior and armed landing party? Find out in the exciting short story, "Lunar Troll".
Born in Chicago, Frederick lives with his wife, Rae and their dachshunds, Moxie, Luke, and Parker. He writes dystopian sci-fi, but has written a ghost story and recently a thriller.
Though this was a quick read, yet it still held quite a bit of suspense and reminded me of a much condensed version of The Martian. Young Andy Yendle is the sole survivor and resident of a moon base called Tranquility. The base is a frequent stop for pirates of every nationality, some menacing, some friendly, though Andy does not always know who he is dealing. His only companion, the base's computer, Momma, helps to keep Andy alive. I can't go on or I'll give the whole story away, however, the author did a fine job of demonstrating Andy's terror and still managed to inject humor into the story. It's thoroughly entertaining.
