Breaking Sanity

Rate this book
We all make enemies in our lives, right?
None of us are perfect. I mean we can try our hardest to be decent people and live our lives to the fullest.
But for some of us, myself included, who don't know when to keep our mouths shut and have a “I don’t give a you know about your opinion” make more enemies than most. Unfortunately, that tends to make our lives more complicated.

Hi, I'm Alley!
My life was just recently turned upside down and backwards because I just had to upset the wrong people.
Keep in mind that upset is putting it mildly. One of them being my ex-husband.
Lucky me, right?
Ha- not in the slightest. I had a contract put out on me and instead of it being the typical bam no longer alive contract, it is I have to suffer whatever hell these psychos decide to put me through for how ever long the payor decides.
So today, I was attacked, abducted, and dragged inside this remodeled damn psych ward to basically play 1930's unethical doctor vs mental patient. Want to know what is even worse?
I am not alone in here. There are other girls in here with me! Some fight and some bow down.
What am I going to do?
I am going to make these unhinged jerks regret taking me. Five against one seems like fair odds to me.

Not for faint of heart. I cried, laughed, cheered and Screamed throughout this book. Don't ignore the triggers!
Alley is an absolute beast, who finally meets her match in the group of The Fallen, or have these untouchable men finally met THEIR match? These men are ruthless and emotionally broken, in their thoughts. She meets them tit for tat and the banter is top tier. I cannot wait for the roller coaster of emotions with the next installment!

Arc review

I went into this book blind not knowing what to expect from it and it was extremely crazy but it was soo worth reading to stick to the end and it will definitely have you questioning yourself and what you walked your self into and the answer would be a dark part of hell is where you walked into. The plot is insane and the characters are written just as crazy 🤣 but it was an interesting read for sure definitely can’t wait to see what’s next because this doesn’t end on a happily ever after sorry buttercup 🤭👀

My favorite banter line goes as the following

"You don't want to play this game, Alley," I warn.

"Crawl to me, pretty boy," she smirks.

"Alley, don't," Vaughn warns.

"Oh Vaughny Vaughn, you can join him on your hands and knees, but I am gonna need to hear you bark like you want it."

My rating - 10 stars in my personal opinion 😘

I was cheering for the FMC from the beginning of the book. I would want Alley in my corner. Through it all, she remained strong. I can’t wait for the next book. This is a very dark romance book. Read the TW before you start reading.

I don't even know where to begin with this book. It made me feel EVERY emotion! I laughed, cried, yelled, and wanted to throw it a few times. It takes a great author to make me feel disgusted by a character, feel like I need to just hug them, to absolutely despising them all in one book. Alley is in the top 3 of my favorite MFC of all time. The way she talks to these guys, as if they don't hold her life in their hands, is how I wish I was. I will forever love the nicknames that she gives all of them. This book is definitely not a HEA, but it is still so good. The banter, the tears, and the heartbreak are all worth the read. I would give this book so many more stars than just 5 if I was able to!

Received this as an ARC. Loved the FMC. Hated everything that she went through. Loved her comedic relief, fight and sassy attitude. Can’t wait for book 2, wish it was out already. Damn cliffhangers.

💥PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS💥 and take them seriously!!!!

⛓️Welcome to Hell's Asylum⛓️
Buckle up! This was the craziest, most intense and emotional book I have read. I couldn't stop thinking about it and I know I won't. This book is unforgettable!

Alley has easily become one of my favorite FMC ever. She's a bada$$ with a smart mouth and strength that should never be underestimated. The things this woman has went thru and endured, I dont know how anyone could have kept going, but somehow she found the strength to. The fight this woman has is something else.

The men, they make morally gray look like sunshine and rainbows. They are pitchest of black you can imagine. I love me a pitch black pyscho MMC, and there are 7! They are have their own trauma that shaped them into the men they are today, The Fallen. Each with their own unique quirks and tastes.

This book excited my little black heart! But holy f*ck! I was not prepared for the range of emotions I would go thru reading Breaking Insanity. The giggles, anger, sadness, rage, heartbreak. If I could give this book 100 ⭐️ I would because ot deserves it! Thank you L. C. Gage for the ARC. I am so thankful to be apart of this journey and cant wait for the next book!

Holy Fuck!
Did this take me on an emotional roller-coaster? YES.
Did I occasionally have to put it down, walk away and ask myself WTF? Yes.
This left off on a cliffhanger and I 100% need to know what happens next. I fell for these characters, I am attached and I have to know what dark and twisted things are to come.

Dark, twisted, and impossible to put down. The FMC is a brat you'll love, the men are unhinged, and the plot is gripping. Check your trigger warnings—this one’s intense in all the best ways.

OMG. This book blew me away. The Alley is fearless—she stares danger in the face and provokes it. I felt everything while reading: anger, happiness, heartbreak, and love. If you want a story that sticks with you, this is it.

There were so many emotions that I felt as I read this book. There were several times that I had to ask myself WTF.. this is a true Dark Romance novel that is very well written that it sucks you from the beginning. The love I have for the MFC is unreal, and I dont believe I have ever hated a character, but this book brought it all out of me. L.C.Gage, you were able to paint a story with just your words that had you on an emotional roller-coaster. This does end on a cliffhanger that has we waiting to know what happens next. But do be warned this is not for the faint of heart. Be sure to read the trigger warnings.

DO YOU LOVE A MORALLY GREY MAN? HOW ABOUT SEVEN???

Do you crave an FMC who talks shit, takes names, and has the mouth of a sailor on Red Bull?? Congratulations, you’ve just checked yourself into Hell’s Asylum, babes — and there are NO refunds — where chaos reigns, the men are unhinged, and the FMC gives ZERO f*cks.

This book? Unhinged. Filthy. Chaotic. A why choose fever dream where the men are walking red flags with zero moral compass, and the FMC might actually be crazier than all of them combined (and I mean that lovingly).

I was in a literary chokehold. Like, someone-call-the-police-I’m-not-okay level obsessed.

I screamed. I sobbed. I cackled like a witch in a thunderstorm. At one point, I tried to fistfight my Phone.
The plot? INSANE. The spice? 🔥🔥🔥 AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON THE PLAYLIST. Absolute chef’s kiss. It made everything more intense in the best way.

⚠️ Trigger warnings? Yes. Please read the trigger warnings. This is not a lighthearted romp through la-la land. This is dark, filthy, and completely feral. Not for the faint of heart or the easily offended — This book does not hold your hand — it drags you into the abyss and dares you to like it. (I did. I liked it a lot.)

To my dearest author L.C. Gage, who unleashed this chaos onto the world: thank you. I am feral. I am not well. I need the next book immediately or I will start throwing furniture, flip flops or a frying pan 😏

🖤 10/10 would sell my soul for this cast of degenerates again.

This book is not for the light of hearts. This book is very dark and the men in this book absolutely psychos. If you like dark romance and pitch black books this book is absolutely amazing but if you are just starting to read dark romance I would build up to this book. The plot on this book was very well written and described in such a way I felt like I was there. The main female character is such a brat and I loved it. If you have a brat kink well this book is going to be perfect for you. The twist at the end of the book was something I wasn’t expecting but at the same time expecting which was amazing. The men in this book have been added to my growing list of book boyfriends. Please check your trigger warnings. I devoured this book so fast I couldn’t put it down.

Alpha and Beta Reader here and I must say this is the best mind ride. It has the right amount of darkness and spice. I absolutely loved being apart of the whole process from beginning to end. It took me a few days to read it because it is 561 pages and every page was worth it.

L.C poured their heart and soul into this debut novel. I was there for this ride and I am honored to help a friend with their debut novel. I highly recommend and see amazing things in the future of this new series.

I would rate this 1000000/10 if I could on the star scale.

⛓️WELCOME TO HELL’S ASYLUM⛓️

From the very first page, Breaking Sanity completely consumed me. I did not want to put it down for a second. This book is not for the faint of heart. It’s raw, gory, and unapologetically intense with a pitch-black plot that will test your limits.

🔥Alley🐦‍⬛ has quickly become one of my all-time favorite FMCs. She’s strong, fierce, and deeply caring. But also refuses to take anyone’s shit. Her resilience and fire made me root for her every step of the way.

The pacing was flawless, and the tension had me on edge like I was watching a gripping, twisted movie unable to look away, desperate to see what would happen next.

The author’s ability to draw you in and keep you invested is incredible.
Yes, it ends on a cliffhanger, and now I’m impatiently waiting for the next book. But honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way the suspense is part of the thrill.

🎬Final Thoughts: 💀

Spice: 4/5🌶️

This is an insane, addictive, and unforgettable read. If you’re into dark, brutal, and psychologically intense books, I 1000% recommend it. Just make sure you check the triggers before diving in. Because once you start, there’s no going back.

I loved this book personally- the characters are psychotic and scared in there own ways. The plot and story building is good. There are also dark aspects to this story so if your newbie to dark romance read trigger warnings for my vets good chance you have read worse lol. The flash back scenes through out the book help put everything in perspective. It’ll give you oh sh*t moments, sad, wtf and more. if you like a feisty FMC and multiple psycho MMC this book might just be for you 😘

This is honestly in my top 3 books I've EVER read (and I'm no spring chicken)! This book will grab you by the throat, squeeze until you're within an inch of your life, and make you say, "Thank you Sir, please do it again !"

The FMC, Alley, has not had it easy & has had to fight for everything she has. She unknowingly lands on the radar of The Fallen & they come to collect her. From then on, the situations she is subjected to are unfathomable! But it's not only her there, she is with other girls that have also been put through literal hell on earth as well! Throughout the book, you'll see time & time again, Alley's kindness & heart shine through despite the darkness around her. You'll come to love her snarky attitude & quips, along with her fighting spirit!

The MMC 's (I wouldn't say there's just one in particular) Baron, Gunner, Vaughn, Nikolas/Caine & Carson are part of "The Fallen." These guys were raised/trained to have blacker than pitch black morals. Then you have Shadow & Eagle (Leonardo - like the Ninja Turtle) who are towing the line of morals since they want to do what is right but are in a situation that still forces them to allow horrible things to happen. To quote our girl Alley, "Can't one of these guys be as ugly on the outside as they are on the inside?"

Throughout this book, you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll scream & you'll have more WTF moments than you'd think possible! It's such a wild & crazy ride from start to finish. It'll sink its claws deep within your soul & won't let go! If you’re looking for a book that will stick with you for life, this is definitely one of them! I can't recommend it enough! I promise you'll be hooked & dying to get your hands on the next book immediately.

A perfect book for dark romance lovers with a love for a fierce FMC, great banter, phycological trauma, diverse characters, an intriguing plot and no HEA. This book is not for the faint of heart as it takes you on a roller coaster of emotions following Alley and how she navigates the horror and torment of Hell’s Asylum. This book delivers comedic, steamy, gruesome and epic scenes following multiple Povs from characters that help the reader feel immersed in the story as L.C Gage transports you through past and present while delivering an emotional and gut wrenching story that has you falling in love with the FMC. This story was well written with amazing descriptions that had the story coming to life so vividly, that you couldn’t help but live through the book in every perspective. The fallen are all so drastic and different while brutal in the way they handle how things run in their asylum. Until Alley comes barreling in, fighting tooth and nail not only for herself but for everyone who feels powerless. Despite being outnumbered and outmatched, Alley is indeed a warrior and will stop at nothing to regain her freedom. This book made me cry, it made me happy, it made me gasp, reflect, think, it made me feel so many emotions at once while destroying my heart and I lived for every second of it. This was truly a great read and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the series has in store for my poor heart.

Speechless

This was an absolutely torturous and delicious read.

Hell’s Asylum is a place where you get taken to after a contract has been placed on you, more than likely by someone who doesn't like you very much for any reason. A place where all your fears will be used against you. A place where you will be broken. You may think you're making out after your contract is up, but it won't be in the way you expected.

I can see where it can be a total mindf*%$ if you're not prepared for this type of read.
But it's so amazing and well-written, I need more.

Alley is such a freakin sarcastic baddie who's been dealt the absolutely worst cards possible. Despite being in hell, she never stops fighting.

The guys all have their own messed-up methods they love to use to get what they want out of their contracts, but Alley has proven to have made her way into their hearts, even if they don't want to admit it.

You think you know what to expect in Hell’s Asylum, but you don't. You think you're prepared for what's to come, but you're not.

Highly recommend this book.

Please please please read TWs and tropes before reading. Your mental health matters.

4.5 ⭐ This was really good!

I thought the plot was original and intruiging. People can take contracts out on a woman (who they don't like) and she must serve out the contract time at as asylum run by The Fallen.

When multiple contracts are taken out on Ally, she is taken to the asylum which is run by a group of pitch black men. When I say pitch black... not pitch black romance, just pitch black. They have done horrific things to innocent women and continue to do so.

Ally is an amazing fmc... she made the book go so fast! She provides comic relief even in the darkest of scenes and I genuinely loved her!

I did get a little confused in some of Ally's flashback memories because it's clear something awful has happened and I wondered if I had missed some bits but I think more will be revealed in book 2.

I couldn't put this down though! Please check triggers as this is very very dark 🖤.

This is a great start for a debuting author. If I have to be honest, I didn’t expect such a dark read right off the bat. It’s targeted as a dark romance, but I find it border-lining pitch black due to the extreme content. **Future readers, be VERY mindful of the TW’a before starting!** This is in no way for the faint of heart, and there are scenes that you will want to take time in processing.

The story builds up and becomes very intense, much like the dynamics between the characters. There were some twists I did not expect but they added more layers to the story.

What intrigues me most is the FMC. She definitely takes “badass” to another level and I catch myself cheering her on despite how badly she’s pissing off the boys. Although that is her strength and weapon against them.

The end.. Sigh. If that’s even what it is?! The cliffhanger will definitely leave you on edge for the next book. I, for one, am really looking forward to it.

Yo! if you need a feisty FMC, this is your read! Sanity broken and it's only book one. if you're looking for extremely strong-willed female character (the kind that you just want to pull down and calm the eff down because she definitely won't back down from a fight, that's for sure) and damn hot male characterssss (one with duo personality too so it's like one extra character), then by all means, get yourself a copy and get ready to break your sanity. Don't worry, Alley's a girl's girl.

This book is absolutely not for the faint of heart. It took me so long because there were many points I had to just completely stop reading because the amount of WTF’s that came from my mouth were just overwhelming. Do not look at the trigger warnings as a shopping list for this one. They are not glossed over at all. Very few books have made me cry and this is one of them. That being said I absolutely loved Alley. She’s such a badass and one you’d want on your team. And the boys you’ll love but not in the same way as they can absolutely go fuck a cactus! If you read this book just please remember your mental health matters!

How can I say this is the most out there and also beautifully written book. It's very a much check your tigger warnings and don't use them as a tasting menu like I normally do. Alley is such a strong and fierce FMC one that I have been looking for, for a while she delivered she keeps fighting and not letting what is going on take over and break her.
Slowly the men that are torturing her per contracts that were taken out on her start falling for her and seem to be changing. The look backs are not seeming to be out of the blue but perfectly timed. I will definitely be reading the next book when it comes out.

This book absolutely broke me in the best way imaginable. It had me questioning everything - my morals, my beliefs, my perception, my everything. I was enraged, engaged, and horrified. But all of it in the best way possible. I felt every emotion from intrigue and care to murderous rage and loathing. I was left sitting in a dark room staring at it wondering if my mind would be ok. The story sucked me in and never let me come up for air. I was drowning in all the emotions and I loved every second of it.

The world building and character development were phenomenal. I was shocked by how much I engaged and connected to characters I probably shouldn’t have. They were written so well that I didn’t dislike any of them as a whole. Like I hated actions and personality traits. But I still wanted to read about them. Titus and Declan were so stinking lovable in a messed up kind of way I should probably seek therapy about 😅 They captivated me and I just wanted to know them more. Especially Declan. But I was also really pulled in by Vaughn. I don’t know what it was about him but I wanted more.

L.C. Gage managed to match the tone in the writing with the story in such an amazing way that I felt like I was riding shotgun with the characters for the whole book. It was an experience not just a read. This book took me to hell in a hand basket and I thanked it for the pleasure. I was trapped in its clutches from the get go and the grip never loosened. That’s my kind of novel. This book went truly pitch black and I loved it!!

Oh my goodness!!!! Just wow!! This was such an amazing book!! But not for the faint hearted. PLEASEEEEE take into account the trigger warnings. This book will have you screaming, crying, laughing and smiling!! Oh and make you want to throw it only to run scoop it up only to continue! The FMC is a badass! Alleys fight for her freedom and The fallen 😈😈 make this book a must read for all dark romance readers. The author did such an amazing Job at writing this book just enough description about the characters and asylum to make you visualize, but not so much that it makes you bored. She draws you into the book and like I said sends you on a roller coaster of emotions. L.C. Gage hurry we need the next one please.
