All at once I see clearly where an attack is going to happen. I am riding toward the stream to warn everyone when I see Erin and Sean get to the stream. As soon as Erin reaches down with her cup a hand grabs her arm and an Indian comes up out of the water dragging her across the stream. I can’t shoot without taking a chance on hitting her so I ride as close as I can, jump off Ares, and chase them into the stream. I dropped my sidearm when I jumped off Ares, but I have my knife so I take it out. The Indian holding Erin stops and turning he slashes at her with his knife just missing her. By now I am close to the Indian who is now concentrating on killing me.
I can hear gunfire going on behind me, but I don’t dare take my eyes off this guy. He lunges and it’s easy to see he has been in a couple of knife fights and the fact that he is still alive tells me he knows how to use that knife. He slashes at my stomach, but changes directions upward hoping to catch me in the chest or neck.
