What if it wasn't Belle who went to live at Beastly Manor, but her brother instead? A collection of short stories, prequel to the Corbin and the Beast series.

I do hope this collection of "short stories" will not be a prequel to the actual story but that all these bits will be incorporated in the work to come. As they are, they are well written and intriguing, but they are also dissatisfying: they read like pages fallen out from the loose binding of a much larger book; they feel incomplete and they raise a narrative tension that goes nowhere. Furthermore it is my opinion that a fairytale such as "Beauty and the Beast" can very well span over a long arc full of events and details, but that these events will need to build up a single crescendo and that a HFN ending will simply not do, a HEA being imperatively required.
Thorns consists of a series of short episodes reflecting the interaction of Corbin and the Beast. They are not related, though an evolution in their relationship is easily deduced… It is no more than an appetizer of what comes next, but certainly it is an interesting one. The atmosphere and imagery are very appealing, enough to build the reader’s expectative and awake curiosity. At least it has awoken mine. I’m just looking forward to finding out more about Corbin and his Beast.
