Wretched Lies

Rate this book
Wretched Lies is the third interconnected standalone in the darkly addictive Wretched series, featuring the stubbornly possessive, morally grey Griffin brothers. This steamy enemies-to-lovers romance has a sunshine-billionaire hero and a black cat heroine who are on a collision course with betrayal that will test family loyalties to their limits. Perfect for fans of Sadie Kincaid, Rosa Lucas and S J Tilly.

Quinn Jamieson isn’t who she claims to be.
And even though Reid Griffin knows she’s lying through her teeth, she still manages to steal his heart.
But when her betrayal puts his family in the crosshairs, Reid faces an impossible
Walk away. Or fight for the one person who makes him believe he could be a hero.

“If you lose your way, I’ll find you, Quinn. All I have to do is follow my heart because you have it. Every beat of it.”

Wretched Lies is an interconnected standalone. It can be read on its own, but if you want to follow the overarching story and avoid spoilers, please read Wretched Heart and Wretched Soul first.

The first time I lay eyes on Reid Griffin, I want to kill him. We might have a shared enemy, but this is my fight. I don’t need the Griffins interfering. I’m the one with most to lose.

I’m about to infiltrate a human trafficking ring and the last thing I need is an overzealous billionaire with golden-boy charm. The youngest Griffin brother risks derailing plans that have been a year in the making.
So we fight.
And it gets very hands-on.
Our bodies fit together in all the wrong ways, and it’s a good thing we get interrupted.

But Reid keeps showing up. Keeps driving me crazy. Keeps making me feel things I don’t have the emotional capacity to feel.
Is it too much to hope that he’ll stay by my side when he discovers how far I’m prepared to go to see things through to the end?
I should tell him everything. I should accept the help he offers.
But this is bigger than us.

If I don’t do as I’m told, the people I care about will pay.
If only I wasn’t falling for him.
If only I didn’t have to betray him.

Everyone sees me as the Griffin with a soft center and zero edge. A half-brother who’s been sheltered from the Griffins’ darker dealings for too long. It’s time to prove my worth.

My first mission is seemingly straightforward – to go undercover and snoop around the luxurious estate of our nemesis. The mansion is still under construction, and I’m not expecting trouble. Not until Quinn Jamieson tackles me to the ground.

Quinn is as devastatingly beautiful as she is sharp.
And she’s lying about who she is.
Does she think I don’t know that?

It doesn’t matter that she kisses me like she’s tasting her next victim. I’ll fight by her side.
Even when she breaks my trust.
Even when my brothers tell me I have to choose.
Because I can’t imagine a future without Quinn.
And she’s stolen more than just my heart.

Continue the Wretched series with Wretched Truth—where the past finally catches up with Ash Griffin.

Please This series is intended for a mature audience.

⭐2.5 Only rounded up because no OWD/cheating.

This book started out promising. Quinn seemed like a badass with a gun. But right after some chapters she became a weak sobbing mess, another damsel in distress. What a disappointment.

Reid is the youngest of the brothers and is clearly still immature. I'd rather he was a little bit more mature than this.

There was no chemistry between Reid and Quinn. It was insta-lust and the timing of the smut was always off. There was no development, every time they met, they were banging. It just didn’t click, making Reid being possessive so cringe.

The little plot going on was sometimes very confusing. She brought Reid into the estate knowing they had to lay low. So what do they do, they bang in the kitchen right in the open, very discreet indeed. How does that make any sense? Very dumb. I hate it when writers write dumb scenes to create drama.

The two Russians Ilya sent just randomly needed to be killed. Quinn already knew they were there because the guards told her. They were not going to hurt her, so why was she running away? If they were, naturally they wouldn't have notified her. Ilya knew what happened and still did nothing about it? This whole scene didn't make sense.

Ilya didn't care about her being with Reid. He even told her to have fun with him. A couple of chapters later in her thoughts, she says that Ilya and Reids brothers don't want them to be together.

You have my permission to continue speaking to Reid. It’s imperative that you maintain links with the Griffins so that you don’t raise suspicion.

Driving us apart is the one thing Reid’s brothers and Ilya have in common.

I also didn't like how certain chapters were written. Important scenes where written in all inner-monologue as a flashback but right in the middle of the thoughts suddenly parts of the conversation that took place are added. I didn’t like this kind of back tracking and it kind of ruins the flow of the story. Why not write it as it happens, instead of jumping back and mixing present with past scenes.

Anyone ever seen a helicopter parked in front of a diner?
As I step out of the restroom, Reid’s waiting for me. “Do you want to stay in here and wait, or go back to the others?”
I glance out the window towards the three men pacing in front of the helicopter.

More stupidity coming to wrap things up when Ilya strips Quinn, but then goes to buy her new clothes, but gives her her earrings back. WTF?!

I received this book as an arc copy.
This is book 3 in the series about the four Griffin Brothers and their strong female main character counterparts.
Wretched Lies focuses on the third brother, Reid. He is the youngest and most inexperienced in their industry but he also loves the deepest. All of the brothers want to protect him.
In true Anna Valentine fashion, this book gets right into it. We pick up the storyline of half-brother Barrett and his dealings with the Russian bratva with potential human trafficking and other nefarious deeds.
Reid has been pushing for more participation in the brothers quests and as he takes point in this mission he stumbles upon FMC Quinn. They're meeting doesn't go quite as planned and sparks immediately start to fly. But they're not without their own challenges.
This pseudo enemies to lovers storyline has some spice and a lot of action.
Where book 2 focused more on the female and male character dating storyline, book three gets us back deep into the overarching story of Barrett's nefarious business plans.

I really enjoy this series and can't wait for the wrap up with the final book.

I was lucky enough to receive an advance reading copy of Wretched Lies, and this is my honest opinion.

Reid, the half-brother who’s always looking for peace and the good in people, has long been kept out of the spotlight—and out of the mafia side of the family business. But when his older brothers finally give him the chance to prove himself, is he ready for the task?

Reid usually flirts his way through life, but will that charm work on Quinn? Quinn works for Barrett, another Griffin half-brother who’s nothing like the others. Reid knows Quinn is hiding something about her identity, yet he can’t stop himself from falling head over heels for her.

This story has it all—secret identities, mafia dealings, a mission to take down human trafficking, kidnapping, betrayal, and still, a satisfying happily ever after. The best part was watching Reid and Quinn slowly gravitate toward each other. The hardest moments to read were the phone calls between Blake and Quinn.

If you enjoy dark romance with emotional depth and suspense, don’t sleep on this series!

🔰🔰🔰 ARC READ 🔰🔰🔰

Anna has a way of shattering my heart and piecing it back together again like few othera do. In this installment we meet the youngest of the Griffin Brothers, Reid. Although hes 24 and dropped out of a prestigious law firm to join the family business, is treated more akin to a fledgling rather than a fully functioning adult by his 3 older siblings. Although he is half brother by birth, they have never treated him as anything less than their full brother, even when he doesn't always feel that way. After getting hired to do an assessment on his 3 brothers blight of a half brother Barrett's newest project, Reid finds himself face to face with the project manager Quinn Jameson.

Quinn is a strong independent curvy brunette, with full lips and a mouth that could cut you in two. She realises quickly Reid Griffin can see right through her, but can he truly she her beneath all those layers, or simply what he hopes to see?

Will they be able to work together?? Or will Reids rose tinted glasses be the downfall of the Griffin Empire??

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Oh wow — this series just keeps getting better and better! From the very first page, the story pulls you in and refuses to let go. Reid, the youngest brother and the heart of the family, is the peacemaker — protected by his brothers, yet with the soul of a golden retriever he sees something in Quin that no one else does. Quin, mysterious and enigmatic, skillfully hides his past, and their dynamic is irresistible.

The plot thickens here: breadcrumbs from the earlier books now weave into the main storyline, raising the stakes and tightening the suspense. Anna’s background in psychological thrillers shines through, creating delicious tension that makes this book impossible to put down.

The overarching main plot, built carefully across three books, condenses here but is not yet resolved. Finishing this one left me impatiently waiting for Ash’s book, where everything will undoubtedly come together.

A big, wholehearted recommendation — this series is a must-read!

Wretched Lies is book three of the Wretched Series which focuses on the youngest brother Reid.

Oh goodness you guys, buckle up because this book will put your heart through the ringer. I'm going to try and get through this without giving too much away because I want you to experience this the way I did.

We follow Reid who is fighting for acceptance with his older brothers. They have kept him out of the more darker missions to try and protect him, but Reid is tired of it and wants to prove himself.

Quinn is feisty and has her own mission and agenda and fights against Reid getting in her way. I mean, she draws a gun on him in their first meeting! But, they both leave that first interaction with some mixed feelings.

I'm sure my kindle loved seeing me ugly cry at 1am with this book. Ana does it again with a great plot, spice, and an emotional rollercoaster of a story. I HIGHLY recommend reading this!

Well… Anna has done it AGAIN! You do not want to miss Reid and Quinn’s story. Following right in his brothers’ footsteps, Reid is every bit the over-the-top possessive MMC we love in this series — and I’m absolutely here for it. Quinn balances him perfectly, and their dynamic had me hooked from the very first chapter.

Their journey is emotional, intense, and packed with moments that hit you right in the feels. The chemistry, the tension, the vulnerability — it all blends into a storyline that’s impossible to put down.

If you’ve been loving the Griffin brothers so far, Reid’s story will only make you fall even harder for this family. Anna once again delivers the perfect mix of passion, heart, and character depth.

Highly recommend for anyone who wants a romance that grabs your heart and doesn’t let go.

“What if I get lost?” she’d asked. “I’ll find you, Quinn. No matter how far you stray.” “Then I promise to leave breadcrumbs for you to follow.”

Do I need to say more?

Nope.. But I will!!
Quinn is an interesting character. She is feisty , strong, loyal and yes so vulnerable.
She is most probably the most like one of us. Independent to a fault needing someone to catch her when she falls and a reason not to be so damn strong all the time.

Obviously you won't agree to everything she does but surely you would understand the why and I love her self realisations that come as well.
The youngest Griffin Brother does not disappoint. Reid is the one everyone dotes on and wants to keep safe but he is a Griffin and boy does he show you.

Enjoy this read!!!
Ash is coming up next and I think… oh he will be sizzling!!!

Anna J has produced yet another blinder of a book. This entire series is top notch, & I’m nowhere near ready for it to be over. Gutted there’s only one Griffin brother left.

Reid & Quinn I absolutely love together. Quinn starts out hating the Griffin brothers, having been fed lies by their half-brother, Barrett. But despite this, she feels the connection to Reid the first time they meet. Being the youngest Griffin brother, he’s got a lot to prove, to his brothers & to Quinn. Reid has a classic “fuck it” moment which I loved, & once these two got going it was just delicious. Anna J pulls you in with each book, & these Griffin brothers have me in a chokehold - one I have no intention of trying to break! ❤️

Received as an ARC ❤️

What to say about Reid & Quinn? Besides I love them! Reid is the baby of the Griffin boys & boy oh boy does he feel like an outsider, like his brothers are always trying to protect him. In a way I love that about the brothers. Reid finally has the chance to prove himself to his brothers, but mostly himself. The way he meets Quinn & even more so the way he falls for her so fast (that Apple didn’t fall to far from the tree😉). His absolute trust for Quinn and her need to stay close to Barrett & Ilya, it’s what a partnership are made for.

Quinn, oh Quinn 😭 GIRL! You had me wrapped up in all my feels. The love she has for her sister & the want/pressure/desire she has to make things right between the two of them, just to find out it was all a lie 😭😭 she would (and did) move mountains to know what happened to Blake. I appreciated that she was able to get her revenge, as well as get closure for herself and her sister.

Wretched Lies pulls you in from the first chapter as Reid finally steps out of the background and into a dangerous mission tied to Barrett and the Russian bratva. Reid is eager to prove himself, and his path crosses with Quinn in a meeting that goes wrong in the best possible way. Their chemistry is instant, messy, and impossible to ignore.

This book blends action, secret identities, mafia intrigue, and a fight against human trafficking while still giving space for a slow and rewarding romance. Reid’s hopefulness and Quinn’s hidden truths make their relationship gripping from start to finish. The moments between Quinn and Blake hit especially hard.

Fast paced, emotional, and full of twists, this is a strong addition to the series.

Oh Reid… my heart!

The baby brother who’s always trying to prove he can hang with his older brothers — ugh, they made me so mad at times (I get it, but still… so mad! Haha). Reid fell hard for Quinn, and you could just feel how much he knew she was it for him.

And Quinn… gosh, she is so strong and resilient. While lies were told they were necessary for her. She fought with everything she had, in both situations, and I admired her so much for it.

That call with Blake — holy smokes — did I cry like a baby? Absolutely. 😭

Now I’m just over here waiting (impatiently!) for Griffin to fall head over heels next. It’s going to be so good!

Ugh i love Reid(MMC) so much !! I loved him since the other book so i’m so excited he got his book. I loved him and the FMC Quinn together so much! He was such a golden retriever and I loved that for Quinn. She deserved all of the love and happiness. The two of them together make a perfect match. I love that we got to see the other characters a lot in the book as i loved them in the previous books. I love how loyal every member of the Griffen family are to each other. The plot and spice were a perfect balance and i really enjoyed reading about it all. I’m so excited for the next book, i’m ready for Ash!!

Anna always surprise me with her books. And this time it’s no different.

Yet again I’m left with difficulty to choose my favourite book and couple. What should I do now 😭.

Finally we get to see Reid being more of himself.

Quinn a strong headed person.

I loved how their story started and continued to grow more stronger filled with happiness and joy.

They way other brothers were in this book.

Overall I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down and had to finish it in one go. When I finished this book I asked myself that why did it end.

I can’t wait for next one in this series

Great series! Quinn and Reid test the bonds of family loyalty and loyalty to one's self. Quinn's search for her sister puts her own life in danger, but she doesn't care. All she can think about is her sister.

Reid, the youngest Griffin brother falls hard the moment he meets Quinn. His brothers don't trust her, but Reid doesn't let that stop him from pursuing Quinn. He's determined to save her from herself.

Will Quinn and Reid be forced to make the ultimate choice of family or love?

I recommend reading this series in order for a better understanding of the storyline.

I received this book as an ARC. These books just keep getting better and better.
This one had me on the edge of my seat and also had me in tears. So many emotions throughout this book, but worth it.
You have the youngest Griffin Brother Reid falling for an independent, head strong woman Quinn.
She doesn't need anyone's help to find her sister, but she gets Reid and his brothers. It might be bumpy along the way but this is the family she needs.

Book three picks up right where we left off in book 2. Immediate action! This book dives deeper into the overarching storyline that is carried on in each book.

Reid and Quinn have an instant connection. They keep the pages a little on the spicy side!

I won’t spoil it, but the twist is heartbreaking and scary all at the same time.

Third brother DOWN! Ash, you’re NEXT!

So glad for my ARC copy!

Quinn and Reid’s story is heartbreaking and so damn good! These Griffin brothers are always ready to do what it takes for their new found obsessions aka their women but Reid… the way he would go against his own brothers IF needed was everything! Another amazing read! Also super excited to see Ash’s story next…

I love this series! I think there’s such a good balance between the romance and the plot. I’m at the edge of my seat wanting to know what’s going to happen to Barrett! I felt so much for Quinn. I wish things ended differently for her and her cause. I loved how Reid trusted her and stuck by her. And I loved that Quinn fought for her sister without betraying the Griffins.

Oh these Griffin men! Each book in this series just gets better and better. Reid Griffin and Quinn Jamieson, their attraction especially on Reids end is immediate upon their first encounter when Reid had gotten into Barrett's mansion in Poulton Springs. Quinn is working for Barrett Emerson to get close to Ilya Barkov a dangerous Russian mafia head who runs a human trafficking ring. Ilya has Quinns sister and she will do anything to get her back. Reid is a distraction she doesn't need, but can't help to resist. Barrett Emerson has poisoned the minds of Quinn and the rest of his staff making the Griffin brothers out to be horrible people. Reid is determined to get Quinn to trust him and show her who he and his brothers really are. Their chemistry is insane, and this book has alot of spice!

Oh my… as the story continues. This is Reid and Quinn’s story.
What a roller coaster this book was. From the very beginning, you fall in the love with Reid. He has the biggest, softest heart of all the griffen brothers, and boy does he fall fast for Quinn. The story takes a bunch of twists and turns and leaves you wanting to keep reading. Couldn’t put this book down. But I cannot wait to see what book 4 is all about.
This is such a good series. If you haven’t read it yet, very highly recommended. Anna is most def in my top 10 of fav authors.

This series is amazing, giving us Reid and Quinn’s story. Reid sneaks into the enemy’s estate, pretending to be someone else. Quinn knows exactly who he is and has no fondness for his family of brothers. Things don’t go as planned for Reid, as he starts feeling protective of her. Quinn has one mission and will stop at nothing to get what she needs, but Reid begins to stir unexpected feelings in her. It’s an incredible read, full of twists, turns, and plenty of heat—can’t wait for the next installment!

** Received as an ARC, Thankyou!! **

Here she comes again with another amazing book!

At the end of each one I am never sure who my favorite is.. and man she did it again!!

Reid is funny and soft hearted and loves his family and his insta love with Quinn is EVEYTHING!!

we get all the great stuff from the brothers and even get a glimpse at Ash's softer side.

Quinn is strong and determined and you just want her to get the revenge she worked hard for.

With out spoilers there is a moment where i was like "no please don't do it Quinn!!!".

Anna writes such compelling stories you are actually talking out loud while reading!!

The spice is there, the story is there, the laughs are their.. I'll never look at a small paint can the same again lol

10/10 recommend this series! Sad we only have one more! Although i would love Strider's story!!
