Leia Stone is the USA Today bestselling author of multiple bestselling series including Matefinder and Wolf Girl. She's sold over two million books and her Fallen Academy series has been optioned for film. Her novels have been translated into five languages and she even dabbles in script writing. Leia writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance with sassy kick-butt heroines and irresistible love interests. She lives in Spokane, WA with her husband and two children.
The first two books in this series is strong. Great world building, good plot. Book three was…eh. And book four is just…a let down. There’s been this background build of a war and it has to happen in book four. But we also need the love story. I’m precious books, the war storyline vs love story was a 10/90 ratio—where the “war” was slightly intertwined and then came up at the end. And that worked because it was a slow build storyline. In this book, the author tries the same formula of love story and then war…but both fall flat. In neither storyline do you feel like there are any stakes. You don’t really feel any of the MCs development and the war seems like it’s tacked on because it has to be.
I’d say read the first two and end it with the spoiler of Raife does kill the Nightfall Queen and everyone is friends again.
This book had such promise, and I was excited to read the final battle between the Nightfall Queen and the other realms...but I COULD NOT get over how Zara CHOSE her FRIEND over the man she loved, then basically forced him to sacrifice his kingdom for her, which then lead to their capture and torture...all because she made nice with her enemies when she was explicitly told NOT TO. How the HELL do you choose some chick you've only known a week over the man you've been in love with-and WHO LOVES YOU--for 5 years? She lost all my respect after that and I lost all desire to continue to the end.

Welp… there I go having actual hopes for a satisfying end. I feel like the first half of this book was incredibly solid. Then the moment Axil and Zara “reconciled” it just nose dived. This was last storytelling at best and if there’s a Nightfall spinoff series I won’t be reading it. I just wasn’t that invested in any of the supporting characters. At one point I had to stop myself and ask if I was reading a Jaymin Eve book. We reverted back to heroines who are so bad ass that their partners seem to save the day and they can’t help but get captured and cry over everything. It just wasn’t something enjoyable. Then the epilogue… exactly how long are the gestation periods for these magical beings? Did the compulsion power get returned? Whatever happened to Kailani’s aunt? How come we didn’t get to see how the guy’s bonds reformed? So Eliza is technically a part of two packs (don’t think we didn’t catch the Matefinder scene similarity here!) The list goes on and on.
This series was so strange, the most prefictable yet random stuff would happen and it just made no sense because how are any of these plots feasible
Also the Male leads 👎
They were just like average guys with magical powers and long hair for some reason, I saw no broken, ruthless, nor forbidden men and I am dissapointed 😔
After reading some not so great reviews on here about this concluding book in the series ..I was a little apprehensive about finally reading this. The first section of the book is about our fourth feisty heroine being introduced and the trial she goes through... And the last part involving the war...which has been building through the previous three.. I do feel we could have had a fifth book..just about that war... Mainly because I enjoyed the interactions between all the Kings/Queens....and the war section did feel a little hurried. Conclusion.. I'm happy ....a solid ending
4.5 ⭐️ Seriously love this series. Loved the beginning of the book and the queen trials and watching there relationship regrow. Also the ending! seeing it all wrap up and the whole final battle was just amazing all there teamwork was so insane. Just love the relationships and strength of all the characters in this series.
4.5 Turniej o koronę, motyw przyjaźni i finał wojny totalnie mnie kupiły.
Sooo, I read the last one in one sitting as well, in the same day… so to say I’ve been invested is an understatement lol. However, the books were rather short and fun so I don’t regret it 😅
I thought it was a bit weird that the story focused so heavily on the war in the second and third book, and then in the last one the first like 50-60% was only about Alix and Zara? And the war is basically forgotten. But it was still very good, don’t get me wrong, but I just thought the focus would have been on that. Alix was so cute, he is my second favorite after Lucien 🤭
And towards the end when they all got together to kick som nightfall queen ass? Loved it. Maybe it was a bit too fast paced and it felt a bit rushed but I don’t care! I liked it anyway
E invece niente.
Finally, the last book of the series! I am glad that these books are actually kind of quick reads because how the author tends to time skip and gloss over some of events of the books. I enjoyed this book and I was looking forward to it because I wanted to see all the kings finally interact with one another. But this book left me disappointed on that front because I didn't really get to see a lot of interaction between them. Additionally, because this book is the last book of the series, ending felt a little rushed because the author managed to wrap up two different conflicts within the same number of chapters that she usually wrapped up one conflict in the previous books. The climax was also a little anti-climactic for me personally because I really wanted to see the Queen of Nightfall be brought down by a group effort from all the kings rather than the way that this book had it happen.
This book did have the greatest depth of characters both main and side which was nice. Also the ending of the book made it seem like there would potentially be a spin-off series based in Nightfall which I'd actually be kinda curious to read. The thing that saddens me about this series is that the world building actually has so much potential and I could easily see another another author getting at least 10-12 books from world that has been established. But this author chose to write 4 really short books and call it day. Overall, another okay read and will be forever sad about the lost potential.
The war came to an end, there were no loose ends left behind, all in all a solid ending. Now comes my biggest gripe Anyways, I wasn’t sure I would like Axil and Zara’s story. The wolves seemed very primitive and the most outdated. Like castle times living. But somehow had one of the strongest power needed to fight the evil queen. Eh. It was just eh to me. And I wasn’t wrong, their whole fight to death last one standing is the strongest wins is barbaric and needs to change. Luckily, even though it wasn’t expanded it seemed that it was headed that way. Even though I don’t agree with how Zara ended her championship she was not wrong. Killing so many strong female wolves at the end of a championship is dumb. Killing even one is dumb let alone 20+ in the name of tradition. They need better new traditions. There has to be a way to prove your strength without death. Like introduce them to the Olympics and do that. Their way of being and looking at life was very toxic. Especially since they were all about the pack life. Make it make sense.
The ending was kind of abrupt. But I wasn’t disappointed. Even though it was very quick. Since it had been building a little in each book it was satisfying. I also really liked the villains in this one. I’m still mad the series had four men be the “good” guys and one powerful female be the villain. It should have been another man. Sigh. I do appreciate all the powerful wives though so I guess we got that.
It has past 3am... I just stood awake just to finish this and I tell you: it was worth it. I have a small question to Raife Lightstone: How did you manage to slay in the book you were assigned in ( book 2 in the series) but hit much better in the last book!? I love him😭 *Spoiler* Idk what to say about this book, the death op Zaphira was too quick and hard to understand. They were too many fast forwards at the end of the book. Skipping time every chapter. Don't like that. But beside those things, I really think that Leia Stone has a very good writing style for a fantasy author and absolutely slays in her books.

I am so sorry to my eyes for doing this to them. In the first chapters, I was HOOKED. Zara is cool as fuck, she is furious at a man, she has muscles, what else do I need? Not the rest of the book.
Because the Wolf King's wife is chosen in a Hunger Games competition, Zara returns to the capital and has to face women from other packs to compete for the position next to his ex "I once went to this Summer School and there was this one guy that changed my world and I love him" crush. Yes, this book is about werewolfs, bear with me. And after winning like the absolute queen she is, the book suddenly remembers that it is the 4th book in a series and everything going forward is about characters that I haven't read about because "No, you can read each book as a stand-alone". (I actually did like some of the characters, but it was weird and lame af).
So anyways, following that. we change the whole problem of the book in the last 50 pages and we discover a new villain and get this epic reveal of what actually happened when they once went to this Summer School for wolves and decided to love each other until they die: my brother made me do it (and I have always loved you, it wasn't my fault that I never told you this truth, look I have actually been suffering this whole time and so I had it worst).
This guy is supposed to be this epic possessive Alpha King... He spends most of the book being worried for Zara and trying to convince her to lose the game.
What does Zara do after hearing this shitty reveal? What does this epic strong woman who was raised and trained in this WILD pack of crazy people who only value power do? Of course, she breaks and forgives him so that we as readers feel really bad about what poor ML had to go through and we forgive him too.
And then Cyrus, her brother and the only side character that I liked died off-screen but we forgot about it. It probably wasn't as important as this secondary character from the second book killing the very important villain that did horrible things (killing your brother and general villainous shit).
But worry not, she has kids. (Actually she is pregnant already in the final fight).

Nadaje to historii lekkości i szybkości w czytaniu.
Mamy taki lekki motyw enemies to lovers, chociaż ciężko to jakoś skategoryzować.
I'm really enjoying this series but this one is definitely my least favorite.
I loved the trials so much and the werewolf vibes were so different than the other books, but I just didn't feel the romance between the main characters at all.
This was just.. okay. The first two in the series are still my favorite!!
My favorite quote- "I was more like my father, physically strong, mentally tough, and slightly emotionally dead inside."
- young adult fantasy - werewolves / shifters - trials
4.5 stars This one was pretty cute! I liked the trials and loved the new bonds that were formed. It took a small plot twist like 3/4 of the way through that could’ve been a lot more detailed but then I felt the ending was kinda rushed and fell flat in a way... For a book where dominance and confidence is key, some characters just seemed too easy to override and move on from the situation at hand if that makes sense? Idk, but overall the book was good and I’d recommend it so long as you read it as a series to really grasp the depth of relationships between the Kings, their Queens and all their friends etc!
The final book is here and done! We finally get the ending of the Queen of Nightfall. But first, we gotta start back on the second chance romance between Zara and Axil. The wolf shifters.
This is a fade to black, zero spice book but packed with action and addicting characters. Zara is a fierce warrior and born for lethal fighting. She’s made to be queen … but first needs to fight for the crown. The second half of the book, we see our previous favorite character all come together for battle to end this war against all paranormal beings.
Guaranteed HEA. Fun series to kill time in between heavier books. I find Leia Stone’s novels to be great palate cleansers and to keep me out out book slumps. You can’t go wrong with any of her series.
I struggled through this one. The first two were amazing, the third was ok, and this one fell flat and felt really rushed. The romance was all over the place, and the end was so cheesy I cringed the last 30% of the book. I struggled to finish it.
Glad the good guys won and had all the babies though.
This series has been such a fun ride. I absolutely love how strong the FMC’s are in these books and how strong and inspiring they are. I absolutely loved the Queen trials portion of the book and Zara is such a badass!
I loved her second chance relationship with Axil and their love for each other and of course I loved seeing all the characters joining to battle in the war. I loved that part of all the books.
The ending was so good as well I think it was the perfect ending to the series
