I love the Warriors series.
Tallstar's Revenge is one of the best books in the series, although not the best of the super edition novels. It's certainly one of the saddest books (doesn't beat Yellowfang's Secret or Crookedstar's Promise, but it's still hella sad).
Ah, Tallstar. This book definitely changed my opinion of him (don't worry, in a good way!). I always thought he was just a wise and easygoing leader, but to see he was so bitter and angry when he was younger....This may surprise you but it actually made me respect him a whole lot more because I could see how much he grew, from a grief-stricken vengeful young warrior to one of the best characters in the Warriors series. Tallstar is one of my top four favorite leaders of all time (if you're curious, the other three are Crookedstar, Bluestar and Firestar).
Anyways, my point is that it made me see him in a whole new light. And I really appreciate when a book is able to show me more of a character.
And Jake!! JAKE!!!! No wonder Tallstar and Firestar were so close! Tallstar was friends with his dad! Wow!!! This actually ties things up quite nicely. Excellent :)
Overall, the Warriors series is one of my all-time favorites. Some books in the series are better than others. Tallstar's Revenge is one of the better ones.

Het verhaal speelt zich af een generatie voor Vuurhart een Donderclankat wordt.
In dit boek gaat het echter over de Windclan, meer bepaald over Langstaart.
In de Windclan zijn er krijgers die tot heidelopers en andere die tot tunnellopers opgeleid worden.
Want de Windclan graaft ook tunnels om ondergronds prooi te kunnen vangen, en om te schuilen bij gevaar. De tunnels storten echter soms in, en zijn dus gevaarlijk, en het vergt heel wat behendigheid om veilige tunnels te graven.
Beide ouders van Langpoot zijn tunnellopers, dus er wordt verwacht dat hij dat ook zal worden. Maar hij wil dat helemaal niet, en Heidester, de leider, heeft dit ook opgemerkt en laat hem trainen als heideloper.
Vanaf dan bekoelt de relatie tussen Langstaart en zijn vader Zanddoorn, die zijn zoon graag in zijn pootsporen had zien treden.
Tijdens de zomermaanden komen er dikwijls zwerfkatten op bezoek bij de Windclan. Ze worden als vrienden beschouwd. Maar op een dag overhaalt Mus, een zwerfkat, Zanddoorn om hem de tunnels te laten zien. Er gebeurt echter een ramp: de tunnel stort in; Mus overleeft het, maar Zanddoorn niet.
Langpoot (later Langstaart) is er van overtuigd dat Mus als een lafaard de tunnel uitgevlucht is, en niet eens geprobeerd heeft om Zanddoorn te redden. Vanaf dan koestert hij een heftige wraak tegenover Mus.
Na de zomer reizen de zwerfkatten verder, Langstaart is onrustig en besluit hen te gaan zoeken, om Mus te doden.
Reeds bij het begin van zijn tocht raakt hij bevriend met Joris, een poesiepoes die hem helpt en besluit hem te vergezellen op zijn tocht. Langstaart en Joris, een rode kater, worden de beste vrienden.
Er gebeuren nog allerlei avonturen, de kwestie met Mus wordt opgelost op een vreedzame manier, en zowel Joris als Langstaart keren terug naar hun respectievelijke thuis.
Lange tijd later, wordt Langstaart Langster, leider van de Windclan. Als hij zijn 9 levens ontvangt, zegt Zanddoorn hem nog: Ooit zal er een kitten zijn, de zoon van je beste vriend, die je hulp harder nodig heeft dan hij beseft. Waak over hem, begeleid zijn poten, want hij is belangrijk voor alle Clans. Je zult weten wie die kat is zodra je hem ziet. Onthoud dat niet elk vuur iets is om bang voor te zijn. Vuur kan niet allleen de dood brengen, maar ook leven, warmte en nieuwe groei.
Ik vond dit echt een fantastisch verhaal, dat heel veel onthult over de levenswijze van de Windclan.

8/23/13: I would have liked to see some of Talltail's Deputy period, since it goes straight from him being a Warrior to future events as Clan leader; . Other than that, it was a very touching story, and I liked the ending of the novel and the short manga afterwards.

Spoilers!
This is the most emotional, heartbreaking, and dark Warriors book yet, in my opinion, apart from perhaps A Dangerous Path and The Darkest Hour.
There are so many emotions, I've been moved to tears several times reading this.
First, there's the fact that Sandgorse hates him.
Then, there's the fact that Palebird ignores him.
Thirdly, his father dies.
After this, Tallpaw becomes extremely cold and unfriendly, distancing himself from his Clan and even further from his mother as he plots avenging Sandgorse's death, as he feels a living cat is responsible for the way his entire life is and his estrangement from his Clanmates.
When Tallpaw, now Talltail, goes on a mission to kill the cat "responsible", he befriends the nicest, wisest, sweetest, friendliest cat in the entire world. Jake, a kittypet who helps save his life, joins Talltail for his mission, giving advice along the way.
"I know who you are. You're my best friend, and you always will be." -Jake
"I'll always be your friend, Talltail. But I'm a kittypet, and you're a warrior. You'll always be a warrior." -Jake
That was when the floodgates opened. ^^^
Erin Hunter has done the impossible and topped every other novel she's ever written with this one.
Not to mention Hopkit, Shrewclaw, Dawnstripe, and Barkface.
"Wormcat?" Shrewclaw rasped weakly. "Avenge Brackenwing for me."
Crying again.

THIS BOOK OMG. I DONT THINK I HAVE EVER FELT THIS EMOTIONAL ABOUT A BOOK BY ERIN HUNTER! THE ENDING>>>> IT SHOCKED ME SO HARD! Okay so I didn't really like the way Tallstar was when he was an apprentice but that was mainly Sandgorse's and Shrewpaw's fault. I could write so much more on how good this book was I thankfully bought it so I can read it again :) If you love warrior cats, imminently get this book :D

It's a little painful for me to give this book such a low rating - Windclan is my favourite clan and I've always liked Tallstar and respected the tough choices he had to make as clan leader. But really, this book is a bit of a let-down, especially after the wonderful standards set by Crookedstar's Promise and Bluestar's Prophecy.
The problem isn't Tallstar's character - he's much as you'd expect from the first and second Warriors series. It's establishing Windclan almost as two mini-clans with the Tunnellers, and trying to force conflict between them and hunters, that makes the first mistake. I loved the inclusion of Jake as a friend of Talltail, but on the other end of the spectrum the revenge-based hatred he has towards Sparrow doesn't flow as naturally.
The pacing of the book also feels clunky and awkward - I couldn't believe how far through the book I was when I realized Talltail wasn't even close to becoming deputy. Not that his kithood and apprenticeship isn't interesting, because it is, it just creates a huge unbalance with the length of his quest, and the last section of the book as leader. I would have been far more interested to read an extended section from this period in his life.
Aside from his friendship with Jake, Tallstar lacks the in-depth relationships that so define other Warrior stories. He has an in-clan rival in Shrewclaw but it never feels as natural as it's basis, Fireheart and Dustpelt. He never has a real romantic interest, and he never really interacts with other clans.
It's not a bad read - I have never found a Warriors yet that I would consider unworthy of reading altogether - but I had much higher hopes for this super edition.

I was surprised that I enjoyed this one this much since Tallstar is one of my least favorite leaders. I think the book does a good job explaining his future actions (why he did what he did, why he was so friendly and trying to avoid conflict). It was also interesting have such a unique clan to read about: the way the Clan was split in two between the moor runners and tunnelers. Overall, it was a cute story and I'm glad I read it.
My only complaint would be that we didn't see any of Tallstar's time as deputy. {SPOILERS from previous SE}I would have loved to see how he reacted to Reedfeather having a mate in RiverClan and to Hawkheart killing Bluestar's mother as well. {END SPOILERS}

Tallstar's Revenge is probably the most unique book from the Warriors series I've read so far. After spending his young life in his home, Wind Clan, a dark tragedy heavily impacts Tallpaw's life dramatically. Upon gaining his warrior name, Talltail leaves Wind Clan to got set out on desperate journey of revenge to seek out the cat who killed his father and avenge him. Some stuff I liked about the book would be the strong character development the reader experiences within Talltail as he endures many challenges during his vengeful quest. The characters he encounters with are endearing and the plot is overall really satisfactory. However, the only thing that bothers me about the book is that in the first couple chapters, you already know many of the events that occur before Talltail's departure from Wind Clan because the summary the book gives you already gives you a couple of spoilers. All in all, Tallstar's Revenge is a really great book that I highly recommend fans of the Warriors series to check out.

I love the Warrior books! And, I really liked this story, especially the ending. I particularly liked how the author(s) hint that there is something Tallstar knows about a certain warrior cat that we all know.

I really enjoyed this book; it really gave me an insider why Tallstar was so friendly to Firestar. I thought the friendship between Tallstar and Jake was nice, but nothing too involved. People have said that Tallstar was gay, but I don't think that. He just never found the right cat. The part where it said, '
" Every cat I have known—Every cat I have loved has taught me the meaning of friendship and the unbending power of the warrior code." -Warriors Wiki'. The 'love' part and where it referred to Jake may mislead people, but truly it sounds like a cat who loves his friend in where he would do anything for him, not 'OHMYGOSH I ❤️U JAKE! YOU ARE MY ONLY LOVE! I WISH WE COULD LIVE TOGETHERAS MATES!'. It seems like some people take it that way though. I'm sorry, but Tallstar just doesn't give off that type of cat to me, he's more reserved and friendly, not ❤️. I liked that in the Manga at the end he was able to see his friend once more before entering StarClan. Overall, a very good read.

This book brought me the closest to crying that I've ever been while reading a Warriors book. This book completes the four Super Editions with a point of view from each Clan.
I found Tallstar's story a very compelling tale, filled with heartbreaking moments. Despite Sandgorse's , he was one of my favorite characters. I also love the notion put forth by one of the Erins that

Easy 5 stars. This is the most unique Warriors book I've ever read and it almost felt like a completely different world. The dynamics in Windclan and the more profound insight into how the clan evolved were exciting. Took me way longer than I thought to get through this one but I'm happy I completed it!
My only complaint is that the ending dragged on longer than it should have. The conflict with Shadowclan was fleeting and it could have served a better purpose than what it did but I won't take away stars because Tallstar is by far one of the best characters we have seen and a (gay) icon!

This book was amazing! The plot was great, and I'm glad that the authors decided to focus on one cat from every clan in the super edition books. I have to admit that this book made me cry quite a bit, but that proves how good it is. I never expected this book to have a link to the main character from the first books in the Warriors series.

I feel bad for Tallstar even though i don’t agree that Sparrow killed Sandgorse. I think Shrewclaw’s death was kinda sad.

"There will be a warrior whose loyalty to WindClan will waver, a cat who will seek far beyond the confines of your territory to discover where his heart truly lies."
Throughout the story a rising theme is loyalty and finding where you truly belong, but the author put a few other small themes that isn't the main theme of the book. Tallpaw a Windclan apprentice, training To be a warrior, but in Windclan things play out differently they split the warriors in to two groups the moor runners and the tunnelers, during the first bit of the book the theme that start's to unravel is following your own dream instead of someone's paw steps. But life isn;t always fair tragic struck when Tallpaw's father got killed, Tallpaw was blinded with grief, blaming it on the rouge that was with his father for not saving him. When he decided that he is going to revenge for his father, he met a kittypet (what warriors call house cats) Jake. He befriends him, it was Jake's wise words that snapped Talltail (Tallpaw's warrior name) out of the anger that grief made. Also, it was Jake who made Talltail discover where his heart truly lies. In my opinion this is one of the most emotional warrior cats super edition, Int he parts when He was saying good bye to Jake, pain stabbed me, it was as if I was Talltail saying good bye to a good friend,

Jake whispered, the heather rocked in the blustery wind. The wide sea of grass streaming around it.
Talltail couldn't reply, the border was only tail lengths away, the scent of it seemed to reach deep into his chest.
"I left because I don't belong here."
But the words rang hollow in his ears, as the scents of wind and heather reached his nose, he felt a sense of belonging in his chest stronger than he ever felt, Cloudrunner had passed by this way recently, and Dawnstripe! He could smell their trail, Larksplash too! Talltail's heart began to race.

Talltail closed his eyes, was the wind tugging him into the moor, or was it the pull of home? His heart ached to see the camp again, and Palebird. Had the kits grown? They must have! They'd be eating fresh kill by now. Perhaps it wouldn't be too late to give them their first taste of Lapwing.
"This is your home, Talltail."
Jakes breath touched his ear, his green eyes glistened.
"This is where you belong. Listen to your heart."
Longing seared in his chest.
"I know."
Talltail whispered. Jake touched Talltail's cheek with his muzzle.
"I'll miss you."
Talltail gasped
"Don't go! Come with me, come and meet my Clan!"
Jake stepped back.
"This is where you belong, not me."
His mew was hardly more than a whisper.
"My home is with my housefolk, he'll be wondering where I am."
"Will I ever see you again?"
Jake glanced over his shoulder, towards the far horizon.
"Who knows...maybe?"
Hope flared in Talltail's chest.
"Become a warrior! You'd be great, you learned how to hunt so quickly, and you can fight foxes!"
Jake dropped his gaze.
"No Talltail. I wouldn't be happy."
"You wouldn't be happy with me..?"
Pain stabbed Talltail's heart, Jake lifted his eyes.
"I can't live as a warrior."
He looked away, his new crackling.
"But I'll always remember you. You've shown me a life I always dreamed about, but now I know that's not where I truly belong."
"Then I'll come with you and live on twoleg place!"
Talltail wanted to do anything to stop the pain in his heart.
"Don't be rabbit brained!" Jake's eyes flashed. "You hated it there, you'd be so unhappy."
He paused. His tone softening.
"I'd hate for you to be unhappy.."
"Then why are you leaving?!"
Talltail pleaded.
"You're the best friend I've ever had."
"I'll always be your friend, Talltail. But I'm a kitty pet, and you're a warrior."
He stepped forward, and rested his muzzle on Talltail's head.
"You'll always be a warrior..."
Throughout the story a rising theme is loyalty and finding where you truly belong, but the author put a few other small themes that isn't the main theme of the book. Tallpaw a Windclan apprentice, training To be a warrior, but in Windclan things play out differently they split the warriors in to two groups the moor runners and the tunnelers, during the first bit of the book the theme that start's to unravel is following your own dream instead of someone's paw steps. But life isn;t always fair tragic struck when Tallpaw's father got killed, Tallpaw was blinded with grief, blaming it on the rouge that was with his father for not saving him. When he decided that he is going to revenge for his father, he met a kittypet (what warriors call house cats) Jake. He befriends him, it was Jake's wise words that snapped Talltail (Tallpaw's warrior name) out of the anger that grief made. Also, it was Jake who made Talltail discover where his heart truly lies. In my opinion this is one of the most emotional warrior cats super edition, Int he parts when He was saying good bye to Jake, pain stabbed me, it was as if I was Talltail saying good bye to a good friend,

Jake padded around him, pelt ruffled by the wind.
"You won't know unless you go back."
Talltail closed his eyes, was the wind tugging him into the moor, or was it the pull of home? His heart ached to see the camp again, and Palebird. Had the kits grown? They must have! They'd be eating fresh kill by now. Perhaps it wouldn't be too late to give them their first taste of Lapwing.
"This is your home, Talltail."
Jakes breath touched his ear, his green eyes glistened.
"This is where you belong. Listen to your heart."
Longing seared in his chest.
"I know."
Talltail whispered. Jake touched Talltail's cheek with his muzzle.
"I'll miss you."
Talltail gasped
"Don't go! Come with me, come and meet my Clan!"
Jake stepped back.
"This is where you belong, not me."
His mew was hardly more than a whisper.
"My home is with my housefolk, he'll be wondering where I am."
"Will I ever see you again?"
Jake glanced over his shoulder, towards the far horizon.
"Who knows...maybe?"
Hope flared in Talltail's chest.
"Become a warrior! You'd be great, you learned how to hunt so quickly, and you can fight foxes!"
Jake dropped his gaze.
"No Talltail. I wouldn't be happy."
"You wouldn't be happy with me..?"
Pain stabbed Talltail's heart, Jake lifted his eyes.
"I can't live as a warrior."
He looked away, his new crackling.
"But I'll always remember you. You've shown me a life I always dreamed about, but now I know that's not where I truly belong."
"Then I'll come with you and live on twoleg place!"
Talltail wanted to do anything to stop the pain in his heart.
"Don't be rabbit brained!" Jake's eyes flashed. "You hated it there, you'd be so unhappy."
He paused. His tone softening.
"I'd hate for you to be unhappy.."
"Then why are you leaving?!"
Talltail pleaded.
"You're the best friend I've ever had."
"I'll always be your friend, Talltail. But I'm a kitty pet, and you're a warrior."
He stepped forward, and rested his muzzle on Talltail's head.
"You'll always be a warrior..."

The book I chose to do a review on is called Tallstar’s Revenge. It was written by Erin Hunter and is involved in a popular series, named Warriors. This particular book is in the “Super Editon” category, and it is focused on a certain cat who becomes famous throughout the series. Yes, it is in a cat’s point of view, but I find it interesting, and it’s not a kind of book that a young child would read. The story starts with the main character, named Tallkit at the time, as a young kit who’s dreaming of becoming an apprentice. In the clan he lives in, Windclan, there are two different jobs for cats. There are the moor runners who run and hunt above ground. They are the fastest cats around. Then, there are the tunnelers who dig underground and make tunnels to hunt in the winter. Since both of Tallkit’s parents are tunnelers, he is destined to follow in their footsteps, but he doesn’t want that. His friends, whom he calls his denmates, make fun of him for his parents being tunnelers. His father, on the other hand, is excited that his son will be just like him. Sandgorse tries desperately to teach his son the ways of being a moor runner early, but Tallkit realizes just how much he hates getting dirt in his fur. He wants to be under the skies and run free, not be trapped underground in darkness. When the leader of the clan names the small kit Tallpaw, which then deems him as an apprentice, she also makes him into a moor runner. The leader, Heatherstar, gives him Dawnstripe as his mentor. Dawnstripe is a moor runner, and Heatherstar hopes that she can share her speed and courage with Tallpaw. Sandgorse is infuriated that his son didn’t become a tunneler like himself. He tries to talk Heatherstar out of her decision, but she tells him that she has watched Tallpaw and believes that “he doesn’t have a tunneler’s nature or physique”. (Heatherstar, Pg. 52) Afterwards, Tallpaw attempts to speak with his father, but he makes it clear that he is angry at Heatherstar, and walks away from his son. Now that he is an apprentice, Tallpaw is allowed to go past the camp’s walls. Dawnstripe takes him to explore the territory and informs him about many other things all around their land, such as the other three clans. The other three clans are known as Thunderclan, who hunt in the trees, Riverclan, who are known best for being able to swim, and Shadowclan, who are best at hunting at night and in the shadows. Tallpaw also learns more about Twolegs, which is the cats’ word for humans. Moons pass, and Tallpaw learns a lot more from his mentor. He grows bigger, and he becomes more mature.
Not too long after, he learns that former kittypets, which is what the clan cats call cats who used to live with humans, are coming to visit the clan. They come every year to spend springtime (“greenleaf” in clan language) with Windclan. There are five of them, and they come to share food and stories from outside of the territory. Their names are Bess, Algernon, Reena, Sparrow, and Ryestalk. Later, Sandgorse takes Sparrow into one of the tunnels. Tallpaw is aboveground when the tunnel collapses. Sparrow gets out unharmed, but the visitor claims to Tallpaw that he lost Sandgorse in the crumbling tunnel. Tallpaw decides quickly that he needs to go after his father, and he dives into the tunnel, only to almost drown. Luckily, one of his clanmates, Woolytail, pulls him out of the flooding, collapsing tunnel. When the apprentice comes to, his clanmates tell him that Sandgorse is gone when he tries to go after his father again. Tallpaw finds himself blaming Sparrow for his father’s death, and his hate grows stronger for the visitor. After the shock of his father’s death begins to wear off a bit, he consults with Heatherstar and tells her that he must become a tunneler in order to be like his father. Heatherstar goes on to tell the whole clan that tunnelers will no longer be needed, and that tunneling is too dangerous for the clan. This infuriates Tallpaw. He then begins to believe that his father died for nothing, but Heatherstar claims that Sandgorse’s death will be the last death that happens underground. Shortly after the greenleaf visitors leave the clan, Tallpaw becomes Talltail. He is a warrior now, and he has more responsibilities. With his father’s death and his hate for Sparrow still fresh in his mind, he speaks with his friend, Barkpaw. He tells him that he feels he must leave the clan and go after Sparrow. Talltail wants to kill Sparrow to avenge his father. “I choose my own destiny. Nothing can stop me-not even Starclan”. (Talltail, Pg. 273) He leaves the clan without telling anyone else that he is leaving, and begins his journey to go after Sparrow.
Along the way, he meets another cat, a former kittypet named Jake. Jake is important to the whole series because he is the father of an extremely important cat who is present throughout the entire series. Jake accompanies Talltail on his journey to find Sparrow and get revenge, and Talltail even informs his new friend on why he is going after Sparrow and what the rogue did to his father. Talltail and Jake find and stay with the band of rogues for a short while, and Talltail suspects that Sparrow knows what he wants to do. Talltail quickly comes up with a plan to push Sparrow off the edge of a cliff so that the rogue can get ran over by a car. “Sandgorse! I promised you I’d avenge your death. Sparrow will never harm another cat again”. (Talltail, Pg. 398) After Talltail sets the rogue up and traps him at the edge, Sparrow quickly explains that it was an accident and that Sandgorse saved his life. He tells Talltail that he will never forget Sandgorse. Talltail realizes that he could never murder an innocent cat, and he lets Sparrow go, now knowing that his father was a hero. Talltail and Jake head back to Windclan, and he leaves Jake at the border of the territory. “I’ll always be your friend, Talltail. I’m a kittypet, and you’re a warrior. You’ll always be a warrior.” (Jake, Pg. 433)
His clan welcomes him back happily, and he lives a normal life as a warrior for a while. He soon becomes a mentor to a kit who was born with a lame foot. Hopkit, is his name, and he is renamed Deadpaw when he becomes an apprentice. Deadpaw seems to be proud of his new name, even though it reminds him of what is wrong with him. “It’s okay; I don’t mind! I’m going to be a warrior. My paw may be dead, but the rest of me is still alive!” (Deadpaw, Pg. 490) Many moons later, after Heatherstar has died, Talltail begins his journey with his friend, now named Barkface, to become the new leader of Windclan. He receives his nine lives from past clanmates, and earns the name Tallstar. His father is the one who gives him his final life, which is for forgiveness. “I give you this life for forgiveness. No death need ever be avenged. Forgiveness brings peace far more surely than vengeance”. (Sandgorse, Pg. 501)
I liked this book because of the adventure involved in it. The main character seemed interesting to me, and the cover and title of the book caught my attention. After I read this book, I went along to read the continuation of the series it belongs to. The author’s writing style is interesting to read, and I find it funny sometimes. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I recommend it for those who seek adventure.

And actually omg.. at Tallstar's nine lives ceremony when he thought of Jake and said he loved him! I DIED. I LOVE JAKE x TALLSTAR!!
Shipping Jake and Tallstar also made this book a solid 5 star. The journey before he met Jake was a bit slow but the rest was good with the Jake x Tallstar moments (I know, I'm too obsessed, you get it)
Anyway, really good book, absolutely loved it, and though I wasn't sure of the 5 stars throughout, I was definitely sure by the end! I was so shocked how much I loved this! 😍

When Tallstar is just an apprentice tragedy strikes Tallstar is determined to blame a rogue, Sparrow, and needs revenge. He will have to leave his clan and family if he is to punish Sparrow properly. Along the way Tallstar will discover that sometimes your friends know you better than you know yourself.
This is definitely one of the weakest Super Editions Erin Hunter as written. The age old adage “show don’t tell” seems entirely lost on this novel. Characters are meant to be the best of friends suddenly over very few interactions. The two characters barely know each other and I’m supposed to believe their ond is more powerful than anything because the book tells me so.
Unlike the other Super Editions I’ve read it does very little to give insight into Tallstar’s life. Why does he become leader? He doesn’t seem like the sort of cat that deserves the position but the book conveniently skips over any development straight to his leadership ceremony.
It dawdles far too much on his appreticeship and his travels and it makes his development seem sudden. Tallstar spends a huge portion of his life seeking revenge and in a split second he decides not to, which is reasonable, but he’s also totally fine with how things have changed.
It was a good premise, but it would have done better as a single book in an arc. As a super edition it tried to cover too much and left the characters and relationships suffering for it. We hardly see any growth, the book just tells you how the characters have grown without any evidence. Erin Hunter has written plenty of better super editions and if you’re not a completionist, feel free to leave this one out.

In many ways, I really enjoyed this book. I thought the moor runner versus tunneler dynamics were intriguing, and Tallpaw's struggle to please his parents and make them proud while also following his own destiny was relatable. Talltail's adventures beyond the WindClan borders were great, and I especially enjoyed his friendship with Jake. I also liked the whole idea that Talltail had to follow his heart and go on a journey before realizing that WindClan really was his home, and home was where he belonged.
Unfortunately, I also felt the book was plagued with under-developed ideas. Based on what we saw in the book, it really did seem as if Palebird didn't love Talltail as much as Finchkit or her other four kits that came later. Yet, when Talltail became Tallstar, we're just supposed to accept that her mother's love for him was just as strong as her love for all her kits, even though she never showed it?
Also, I couldn't figure out what the rogues were all about. WindClan seriously allowed a band of rogues to stay with them all summer long just because "they've always come"?! They let the outsiders train with their apprentices, and share dens with their warriors and elders?! It just didn't make sense, having read the Warriors series and knowing how Clan cats supposedly feel about non-Clan cats.
Overall, a good story about how revenge isn't the answer, and home is where the heart is. As usual, it's especially satisfying to see cameos made by other known Warriors cats, and there's a real gem of a connection in this one, if you make it to the end.

When I first started reading, I wasn't sure what to expect, and I didn't connect with Tallstar right away. But as I got into the story, I found myself completely captivated. The tale of the tunnelers and moor runners was very realistic, not just in their preferences and techniques, but also in the divisions that existed between them. This dynamic brought the clans to life in a way authentic and relatable.
Tallpaw's internal struggle, torn between his personal interests and societal expectations, was utterly fascinating and he quickly became a character I grew fond of. His genuine personality, which prevented him from telling lies to appease his parents, added depth and relatability to his character. It was refreshing to see a protagonist who remained true to himself.
One of the highlights of the book was the journey that Tallstar undertook, it initially seemed trivial but it was into a meaningful and transformative quest. His initial impulsive decision gradually matured alongside his character development, which made his growth all the more satisfying. The transformation felt natural and believable, and it was a joy to witness his evolution.
It stayed interesting from start to finish, and the pace was so smooth. I found myself eagerly flipping pages to see what would happen next. The epilogue was a fitting end to the story, giving a sense of closure and leaving room for thinking. And that final scene, where he earns his nine lives, brought tears to my eyes.
It was undeniably a remarkable book!
Tallpaw's internal struggle, torn between his personal interests and societal expectations, was utterly fascinating and he quickly became a character I grew fond of. His genuine personality, which prevented him from telling lies to appease his parents, added depth and relatability to his character. It was refreshing to see a protagonist who remained true to himself.
One of the highlights of the book was the journey that Tallstar undertook, it initially seemed trivial but it was into a meaningful and transformative quest. His initial impulsive decision gradually matured alongside his character development, which made his growth all the more satisfying. The transformation felt natural and believable, and it was a joy to witness his evolution.
It stayed interesting from start to finish, and the pace was so smooth. I found myself eagerly flipping pages to see what would happen next. The epilogue was a fitting end to the story, giving a sense of closure and leaving room for thinking. And that final scene, where he earns his nine lives, brought tears to my eyes.
It was undeniably a remarkable book!

Pretty good as far as Super Editions go. I was surprised by how much of the book takes place in Tallstar's youth. Something about the ending portion seemed off to me, but I don't know how to articulate it. More thoughts after the spoiler cutoff:

Tallpaw was honestly so freaking childish with the "do they even care I'm leaving?" crap, like a child that says they're running away just to see if their parents try to stop them. Soooo whiney and irritating. And then the not realizing accidents happen? Even though like 8 clanmates explained in 8 different ways how his father's death was NOT, in fact, murder, but an unfortunate accident! Hardheaded and childish - definitely not leadership material. He never should have gotten that promotion to Tallstar.
I did, however, really appreciate the introduction to Jake! Each super edition so far has left little easter eggs into the other novels and here we get to see a little bit of where Jake (Firestar's dad!) came from. I like knowing now that Tallstar and Firestar have him in common and that that's why they're so close throughout the series later on. Very cool.

Surely this book has become one of my favorite super editions. WindClan is my favorite clan, and I love seeing how each clan goes about their daily lives, the different environment, and its characters as well as their interactions when it is not told through the lens of a cat from a different clan. I enjoyed the relationship between Tallstar and Shrewclaw, it reminded me of how my sister would treat me at times growing up and of how I would react; though we are sisters, we are not friends but I would fight for her any day. The reflections made in this book were meaningful and insightful, some of my favorite quotes have come from this book. Overall, a job well done.

1. Tallstar is really the only SE backstory protagonist that gains experience both the hard way and by curiosity and that makes this book great.
2. TallJake is confirmed by the authors and it’s the best part about this book. It was short, but the impressions they left on each other are so undeniable.
3. The little background representations are great! Palebird’s postnatal depression (that’s it, she’s not a bad mother), Hopkit (Deadfoot)’s disability and Shrewclaw and Tallstar’s relationship (not friends, but hey, they respect each other) were handled so well for Warriors standards and it’s awesome that they don’t even need the spotlight, yet impact our protagonist in different ways.
