Music theory is often considered to be one of the most difficult subjects to learn. Idiot's Guitar Theory breaks down music theory for guitar and other fretboard instruments in very simple and easy-to-understand lessons. Content includes everything a budding musician needs to know about notes, guitar tablature, rhythm, chords and scales, and more.
I can't pinpoint it, but this book didn't grab me like I thought it would. Felt like I got more out of the Idiot's Guide to Music Theory. I was rushing to get through it because of boredom.
They needed to idiot it up slightly more. There are a fair number of assumptions made about basic knowledge. I feel like I needed some external background to follow some of what was said.
This was a good reinforcing of some things I already knew. I am not sure it’s a good book for someone who knows nothing about theory, but it’s not the worst way to begin to learn it either.
