ARC Review - Thank you for allowing me to read book 2 of The Havenwood Series.

Drew Flynn and Lelia Barrett’s story revolves around an unexpected, unplanned family and the power of finding a safe place when life gets difficult. Drew’s parents took Lelia in when she was young, treating her like their own daughter and giving her stability during a time of trauma. No matter what your background is, everyone deserves a safe space and everyone could use a Mama and Papa Flynn in their lives.

Having older brothers can be a blessing and a challenge, especially when they’re overly protective. Gaven steps into that role fully, sacrificing his own happiness to take care of his little sister. His loyalty and love for her are unwavering; he'll do anything to protect her and his niece. He is such a great uncle.

Declan is another brother whose devotion stands out. He would do anything for his younger brother, Drew. However, I found myself wanting more detail about what happened in the hotel room the event that led to so much heartache between Drew and Lelia over 11 long months. Was Declan responsible in some way, or could he have helped them heal sooner? Regardless, he plays a huge role in supporting Drew through his addiction and recovery from injury.

One area where I felt the story fell short was in fully explaining Lelia’s trauma. I wanted a clearer picture of what triggered her panic and anxiety attacks. That said, I appreciated that the authors included her working with a psychiatrist and developing coping strategies, especially as she worked to manage her mental health during pregnancy and taper off her medication safely.

I really liked how Drew stepped in at the gym during Lelia’s panic attack—he knew exactly how to help her get out of her own head.

The story’s focus on mental health, addiction, and healing was a strong and meaningful touch.

Overall, I’d give this book a 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

The storyline could have been more detailed in places, but it’s still a worthwhile, easy read especially if you're drawn to stories about second chances, family bonds, and healing from the past
