From Amazon came this 2014 copyright book, printed 31 January 2021, the day after I ordered it. Too cool. And a bit of an amateur effort, but more deserving for it. The numerous typos are the kind that auto-correct gimmicks miss. The love of birds, the lifestyle of falconry, and the dedication to it comes shining through. For anyone wishing to quench a thirst to know about how hawking works, this book is the answer. Recommended.
If you are thinking about getting into Falconry, this is a great resource to start with. In general, Philip Golding provides useful information and terms to familiarize yourself with as you think about taking up this sport.
Additionally, I appreciate his honesty as he challenges readers to think about the resources it will take if one chooses to become a falconer. Things to consider include the time commitment on working and building a bond with a bird, the money needed to purchase equipment, and then the ongoing maintenance and healthcare for the bird. In my personal experience, these questions have given me pause since I do enjoy traveling. If I decide to continue on with Falconry, I would have to decide if I want to dedicate at least 2-years to training a bird and putting all travel on hold during that time. People would need to decide what is best for them.
Fantastic inexpensive introduction to the sport of falconry..
I was very pleased with this simple introduction. I was able to finish it in one day. The author uses simple to easy words as well as introducing the beginner two more complicated terminology. This book is great for anyone who is thinking about exploring the sport of falconry
Good book for beginners to understand the basics of falconry. Complete with definitions and detailed explanations of many key components that go along with the sport
A great introduction to understanding what it takes to become a falconer. I’m not one, but feel this book spelled out what it takes to do justice to the sport. More figures and/or photos would earn a 5 rating.
Decent information, but it doesn't fit well. It's a little more in depth than a short book on "are you interested in falconry?" but not in depth enough to actually be a handbook.
