Received a free copy through a Goodreads Giveaway

What I liked: Something New! I was apprehensive about entering this giveaway. I told myself, "probably will tell me exactly the same thing that every doctor and therapist has told me so far." Well, I was wrong. This has an entire program laid out step by step to help your child with anxiety. I've read through the entire thing and now I'm going to try applying it to my son who has terrible anxiety. It runs in my family and I know how he is feeling. It isn't any fun. I also liked that she suggested including your child in the process if they are able to understand at their age. This helps them see how to help themselves, work with you not against, and feel a growing confidence as they succeed. Love it.

What I needed: Better examples that covered more difficult anxiety situations. The examples in the book seemed too easy and perfect. Which makes sense when you want to show how well your system works. However, most of the situations with kids and anxiety is much more complex and difficult. The author covered this by suggesting that in more difficult situations you should seek out professional help. Which also makes sense. Those of us with children that really struggle could use a little more positivity, examples, and encouragement when times get tough.

Looking forward to trying this out and seeing how well it goes.

I ready this for work, but parents with anxious kids could definitely benefit. It’s well written without jargon and the skills are simple enough to benefit everyone.
