In a quiet, tightly-knit town haunted by the shadow of a tragic murder, five lives become intertwined in a web of secrets and suspicion. Morgan, Alex, Diana, Bobby, and Tori each carry burdens from their past, secrets that threaten to unravel as they search for justice for the murdered girl, Sara. As the investigation deepens, alliances shift and old wounds resurface, revealing a complex tapestry of love, jealousy, and betrayal.
Alex’s unwavering love for Morgan pushes him to protect her at all costs, even as dark truths about their shared history emerge. Bobby and Tori, outsiders with troubled pasts, find themselves caught in the storm of accusations and hidden motives, especially as tensions between Bobby and Alex flare. Morgan’s relentless quest for answers leads her to uncover startling connections—clues buried in old newspapers and a mysterious lantern—that threaten to expose the darkest corners of their pasts.
Their pursuit of truth takes them to an abandoned shack, where shocking revelations come to Sara was more deeply connected to them than they realized, and the secrets they’ve kept may be deadly. As the storm rages outside, the fragile veneer of trust shatters, and chaos erupts. In the aftermath of violence and betrayal, the survivors are left questioning everything, with the truth remaining elusive amidst the shadows of the night.
Suspense and secrets collide in this gripping tale of love, loss, and the lengths people will go to hide their pasts—where nothing is as it seems, and everyone has something to hide.
This book (and future books) has great potential. The story itself is there and engaging. The last chapter was written beautifully, I just wish there had been some better editing and proofreading to prevent some repetition in conversations and some holes in the story. But for being the author’s first, it’s a good starting point. And I only hope to see you grow ❤️ congratulations!!
