NPR & Me: My Agonizingly Slow Rise and Swift Fall at NPR

Rate this book
This is a 10,000 word non-fiction story—five times longer and ten times more outrageous than a typical magazine article, but far shorter than a book—culled from what Cap’n Fatty calls his "A Sailor Stumbles Ashore files."
Be forewarned: this is not “family values” story.
It is, instead, a wild and rollicking attempt to accurately convey the chaos of his professional life at certain memorable-if-hazy moments during the revolutionary 1960s, the drug-smeared ‘70s, the disco-crazed ‘80s, the morally-vacant ‘90s—right through to the happenstancial year of 2008 and his NPR triumph. Or artistic melt down. Whatever!
It concerns a long-term, long-cherished professional goal—a lofty, difficult, almost impossible artistic challenge—that Fatty ultimately achieved, sort-of.
